Glossary Over Things – ABC NEWS

  • It's as if these worldly journalists have never seen the ridicule over these classifications of sympathetic violence.

How exactly does a seasoned journalist not have an awareness of the mockery received when the media made past claims of violence, looting, and arson from the Black Lives Matter riots as "mostly peaceful protests," and similar moronic pronouncements?

Over the weekend, a wild mob of pro-Palestinian supporters gathered at the White House and battled with Secret Service agents as they defaced the fencing and made attempts to breach the perimeter. At ABC News, Mary Bruce saw this skirmish and came to a very docile conclusion of what these unhinged shriekers were actually representing.

Body Checking the Fact Checkers – POLITIFACT

  • Considering who this concerns, we expect the story of his existence to change soon.

We tell, ya, we certainly love the fact-checkers around these parts. Sometimes it is the desperate manner in which they declare something FALSE as they present the facts proving the case. Other times, it is the lengths they go to disprove a Republican by importing aspects that have nothing at all to do with the central topic. But to be honest, our favorite is when they seek to debunk something completely irrelevant or laughably false to anyone with an education beyond remedial second grade.

Case in point: PolitiFact has come forward with the bold declaration that – after extensive research – Dr. Anthony Fauci is in truth a real person. The laser-focused Ciara O’Rourke delves into the claim and finds evidence from the past and present to ascertain that he does exist.

This fact-check springs out of Facebook's disinfo-initiative…apparently, and not simply a "look-busy" entry made to meet a filing quota:

This post was flagged as part of Meta’s efforts to combat false news and misinformation on its News Feed.

The basis for this was from an Instagram post made by a rando account. This is what qualifies as "news" on the social platform, apparently.

Presentation Paradox – POLITICO

Regarding the outbreak of pro-Palestinian protests and the spate of examples of people losing their jobs over their taking a disturbing position on the war with Israel, Politico arrives to detail, with sympathy, the plight of those who have seen their position terminated after voicing their opposition.

Small matter with this headline: The article details those who were fired for calling Israel a genocidal state, not for the benign call for peace in that region. But hey, that headline is a real grabber, isn't it?

Both Kinds of Standards – WASHINGTON POST

  • "No, see – when they do it, they hate the books, when WE do it it is because…there are…hateful parts in the books…yeah!"

It has been one of the persistent lies being told in the press – that the state of Florida is "banning" books when it deems certain content inappropriate for certain age groups. To see how backward it is to make this claim, look at how Barnes & Noble booksellers have table displays in their Florida locations offering these supposedly censored works. That "You cannot buy these titles – get them now on sale!!!" pitch is pretty tempting, despite being a contradiction.

Taking it to another level is the Washington Post, which has no shortage of entries about Florida banning books. But when a story emerges from Washington regarding teachers who want to block their students from reading 'To Kill A Mockingbird" because it contains elements that oppose their described progressive positions, then suddenly the description of such an act becomes reclassified as something else entirely.

Suddenly they are "blocking" a work with "harmful" content, and they want to "protect" students – all language that is never applied to Florida schools making very similar decisions.

DNC PR Firm – ROLLING STONE

It never fails; the press seems to relish moments when they can lecture the public sternly on a subject and at the very same time violate their own mandate. We recently saw the news outlets announcing how it is wrong to describe Hamas and its barbaric actions as "terrorism" because it would mean passing judgment – then at the exact same time, they had zero hesitation to describe Representative Jim Jordan as a "legislative terrorist."

Now, the next phase is while the press corps and the White House are voicing concerns about Islamophobia and lecturing against scorching people over their faith, new House Speaker Mike Johnson has been consistently under fire over his devout Christianity. The latest sees Rolling Stone taking issue with the fact that Johnson and his son work together to help each other avoid pornography.

It takes a special personality to find the offensiveness in common decency.

Pulitzer Prize Nomination – WASHINGTON POST

In a manner similar to the government, here is the press creating a solution to a problem they created. The constant badgering, hectoring, and lecturing about the environment has led those who listen to them to experience deeply rooted stress over the plight of the planet. Well, fear not you granola-grinding do-gooders, WaPo is here to help you alleviate that strife. Just tune in, tune out, and show up to the protest late – if you can still find it.

The self-created dysphoria in this advice column is described as "eco-anxiety and climate grief," and this is said to be a very special kind of worry, because "the feelings extend to something greater than ourselves and our personal narrative." (You know, unlike those other real-world concerns normal people experience.) But there is a way to deal with this issue:

Psychedelic therapies may have a growing role in supporting this unique trauma and grief. Numerous clinical trials have shown that psychedelic therapies, namely psilocybin and MDMA (commonly known as ecstasy) are safe and effective for conditions such as PTSD, depression, end-of-life anxiety.

So there you have it, just slam some acid and trip-balls in order to forget all about the planet dying under your feet! On the upside, this appears to be a vegan alternative, too! Just be sure when gobbling a fistful of mushrooms, you choose all organic, locally-sourced, non-GMA products that have been responsibly harvested!

"Riffed from the Headlines" is Townhall's daily VIP feature with coverage of the deeply flawed aspects of journalism in the nation, where Brad Slager looks to bring accountability to the mishaps, malaprops, misdeeds, manipulations, malpractice, and manufactured narratives in mainstream media.
