• Did…did they just invent sailboats?

Yes, things are going just great at CNN in the post-Chris Licht era. Today, the outlet has come up with what it declares is a revolutionary idea: wind-powered sailing ships.

The concept being forwarded is that freighters crossing the oceans can save energy and lower greenhouse emissions by deploying massive kites or using tall air foils to help propel them. While in concept these could conceivably help lower fuel usage to a degree, the amount of benefits from this is hardly impactful to making a difference. The term "negligible" comes to mind:

It could offer enormous benefits on cross-Pacific and Atlantic routes and any north-south routes — cutting fuel use by 20% for “70 to 80% of the world’s shipping trade.” 

Powered predominantly by fossil fuels, the shipping industry accounts for around 3% of global greenhouse gas emissions, according to the International Maritime Organization.

• Chris might need to take out a loan to go back and take math courses.

It is another day of the press rendering garments and pulling out follicles over a Supreme Court decision. Today, it was the Court striking down President Jose Biden's know-to-fail proposal to eliminate student loan debt.

Chris Hayes led the charge of those complaining on behalf of those who charged their college education by making a bizarre analysis of the situation. Hayes declared that people sitting on $10,000 of debt are today $10,000 poorer. The money they owed yesterday is still owed today. That is not "poorer," Chris – that is being made responsible.

Lots of very bad things this 6-3 majority has done, (Dobbs being, imho, the worst), but them deciding you are now $10,000 poorer than you were yesterday is really a helluva thing.

As an extension of the scheduled layoffs from parent company Disney, over at ESPN, today it was announced it was letting go a number of top-level big-name on-air hosts. Names like Steve Young, Keyshawn Johnson, Suzy Kolber, and many others were let go in a sweeping purge of expensive talent.

Stealth Story Evolution – CNN

• One business turning down a business offer is not a violation of rights.

In another SCOTUS decision that rankled the press, the justices decided that a business that creates websites but elected not to deliver a service for a same-sex marriage site was not in violation of discrimination law. While the press wailed about the business owner's religious liberty being a factor, there are other scenarios that you could be certain the journalist set would not be outraged over. Try to imagine a black business serving whites but choosing not to serve a Klan rally, as an example.

Jake Tapper saw this decision and felt it was a sign of violating LGBT𝜋 protections... before he realized the folly of the claim and wisely decided to delete the post.
