When House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi of San Francisco described the bonuses received by millions of hardworking Americans as “crumbs,” it was the perfect illustration of just how out-of-touch liberals in Washington have become.
Thanks to President Trump's tax cuts, millions of Americans are receiving bonuses, pay raises, and more money in their paychecks. The unprecedented boost American families are receiving is in addition to the billions American companies are bringing back to the United States and investing in new jobs and growth.
But liberals in Washington refuse to acknowledge that President Trump's middle-class tax cuts are helping Americans get ahead and keep more of their property. Pelosi and her liberal colleagues are either blinded by ideology, or just too out of touch to understand how an extra $1,000 in the hands of middle-class Americans can make a household budget go a lot further, and make life a little easier. These bonuses and raises can cover months of energy bills, groceries, or even a mortgage or car payment. It’s real money for real Americans.
This liberal disdain for the money that Americans are receiving is why I introduced the CRUMBS Act - Creating Real and Useful Middle-Class Benefits and Savings. This new legislation makes the bonuses tax-free up to $2,500. Not only are middle-class Americans getting bonuses from their employers, but I am working to make sure they get to keep every penny of those bonuses. Every crumb!
While liberals scoff at the idea of letting Americans keep more of their property, conservatives and President Trump are keeping their promises to the American people. Donald Trump ran for President on the promise of standing up for the forgotten men and women of this country, and his tax reform bill is resulting in real money for the folks who had been left behind by the failed policies of Obama, Pelosi, Schumer and the Washington elite.
Recently, Brent, a constituent of mine, reached out and passed along his gratitude for all the new money he is seeing in his bank account. He is an employee at AT&T and received a $1,000 bonus due to President Trump's tax reform.
Similar stories are coming from employees at companies like PNC and Walmart where thousands of hardworking Hoosiers are not only getting bonuses but are also seeing wage increases and expanded parental leave. FedEx is investing $1.5 billion into their hub in Indiana and First Farmers Bank & Trust specifically credits the tax cuts as the reason for rewarding its employees with additional compensation.
The CRUMBS Act encourages even more employers to join the hundreds of American companies offering bonuses to their employees. Nancy Pelosi can call the millions of bonuses that Americans are receiving "crumbs," but Americans know the truth that these bonuses are making a real difference in their lives.
