Democratic Congressman Jokes About Trump Drowning at 'Stronger Together' Rally

Today, Florida Democratic Congressman Alcee Hastings spoke to a liberal audience at the Broward County Democrats "Stronger Together" rally which was intended to unite the party ahead of November elections. While taking the stage, Rep. Hastings warmed up the crowd by telling a joke about President Donald J. Trump drowning in the Potomac River.

Rep. Hastings emceed the event and began by saying that he recently heard a joke where a colleague explained the difference between a crisis and catastrophe. "A crisis is if Donald Trump falls into the Potomac River and can't swim. And a catastrophe is if anybody saves his a**," Florida's 20th district congressman said to laughs and applause.

The "Stronger Together" rally was attended by various Broward Country democrats as well as liberal candidates from around the state. Sen. Bill Nelson posed for photos and fans as other representatives mingled with the crowd.

Rep. Hastings also asserted, “There is no question that something is tragically wrong with the president of the United States in his mind."

Likewise, the Congressman had to update one of his favorite lines to use in front of audiences. He used to predict that if special counsel Robert Mueller does not cause Trump's downfall, then porn star Stormy Daniels will. But, since that has not occurred, the Congressman changed his line to say that the fired White House aide Omarosa will. Omarosa's been on a tour playing privately recorded conversations she had while working in the White House and alleges that a tape exists of President Trump using the N-word while on the tv show "The Apprentice."

His contributions to creating a society that is stronger together include being indicted by a grand jury in 1981 for accepting bribes as a Federal Judge in exchange for a shorter sentencing for two-mob convicted felons as well as recently paying $220,000 in taxpayer money to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit against him filed by one of his staffers.
