Congressional Democrats—not surprisingly—are predictably suggesting that because their Republican colleagues don’t support increased (unlimited?) funding for Amtrak, they are somehow indirectly responsible for what happened. The crash, however, had nothing to do with funding, says House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) when asked about it.
On the contrary, he argued, the train derailed for a very simple reason: it was going way too fast around a sharp corner:
Perhaps reporters should reconsider—and reevaluate—how they frame their questions. Otherwise, they’ll just continue looking foolish.
