TRIGGERED: Lesson From Democrats' Kavanaugh Confirmation Nonsense: Belief Is Not Evidence

It’s Tuesday, which means that Triggered is back, this time with our very own Guy Benson.

Judge Brett Kavanaugh fought off a brutal left-wing character assassination attempt in a Hail Mary pass to derail his nomination. It didn’t work. It failed, and after a 50-48 vote, you can call him Justice Brett Kavanaugh. But, before we get into that, Nikki Haley announced that she would be resigning as U.S. Ambassador to the U.N. at the end of the year. There’s no scandal; she just needs a break. After running a state for eight years and then being the point of the lance in presenting Trump’s foreign policy to the world for the last two, we can see why Haley's powering down. Sorry, never Trumpers, she’s not going to challenge the president in 2020. She’s going to do all that she can to ensure he’s re-elected. He has no plans to run for office in 2020.

A popular theory going around is that Trump will fire Attorney General Jeff Sessions, replace him with Lindsey Graham 2.0, and the Republican governor of South Carolina will appoint Haley to fill his Senate seat. Absence of that, there are no available offices within the realm of possibility for Haley in 2020. If she wants to run for president in 2024, she would have to wait five years before she could get the groundwork assembled. That’s a long time, and there’s a possibility she could get Jebbed; Jeb Bush’s timeline from his last election and his presidential bid was 14 years. He lost. And even if it were less than that—five years is a lot of time.

Guy was blunt and straightforward about his feelings about Hillary Clinton: she’s a two-time loser, she’s trash, and she’s the absolute worst. This comes as Hillary Clinton is now in the pro-incivility tribe, saying there’s no need to be civil when one side wants to destroy what you stand for. In truth, and this is just me—yes, I want that. I want to destroy American progressivism. It’s a cancer.

This is a movement, where due process and the presumption of innocence, a cornerstone of our justice system, a vital institution, was cannibalized by left-wingers. Guy aptly notes that belief is not evidence. Kavanaugh faced three allegations of sexual misconduct (five if you count all the nutty ones that came out of the gutter) at the last minute. Christine Blasey Ford couldn’t remember key details, but had her day before the Senate Judiciary Committee. She claims Kavanaugh tried to rape her at a high school party. There are discrepancies in her account. Deborah Ramirez claims Kavanaugh exposed himself at a party at Yale. She’s not sure he was even at the party in question. Julie Swetnick accused Kavanaugh of being part of a gang rape ring in high school. All three stories had zero evidence or corroborating witnesses. With the absence of evidence, you move the nomination forward. But, the Left was all about making belief into concrete evidence. You cannot. On a side note, no one has lost the ability to lie.

The two other accusations were insane. One was recanted, and the other was an anonymous letter to Sen. Cory Gardner’s (R-CO) office, but no name or address was given. It wasn’t credible. While the Left speaks insufferably about their high road persona, they’re just garbage people peddling garbage ideas. They’re straight trash. And they will, as Guy noted, sacrifice any principle and pervert any institution if it means clubbing conservatives. Yeah, this is a war. We need to fight back—and maybe learn to hate the Democrats more than they hate us.

With Kavanaugh confirmed, the 2018 midterms are a bit more interesting, but hardly a lock for the GOP or the Democrats. Guy makes his case. Tune in.

Also, don’t forget that Mr. Benson is live on-air every weekday at 6 P.M. for Benson and Harf.

We’ll see you Thursday.
