Powerful: Miles From ISIS, Christians Bravely Celebrate Faith By Posting Photos of Christmas Trees

We are one week away from Christmas eve and although Christians are free and safe to celebrate the birth of Jesus here in the United States, around the world they risk death for doing so. According to recent estimates, Christianity could be extinct from the Middle East in just five years.

Journalist Lisa Daftari (who is also a friend) recently started a social media campaign called "My Treedom," to remind the world of ongoing Christian persecution. The response has been incredible. Christians from around the world have been sending her photos of Christmas trees and celebrations from dangerous places like Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Iran and just miles from ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

"Celebrating freedom from persecution and the right to Christmas everywhere around the world. Send us your photos: MyTreedom@gmail.com," the My Treedom Facebook page states. "Merry Christmas from…everywhere. Yes, even countries where being Christian is a crime, punishable by death."

Merry Christmas from Karbala, Iraq. A city of pilgrimage for Shiite Muslims and a haven for fleeing Iraqi Christians. But for how long? ISIS has threatened to march on Baghdad and Karbala. #MyTreedom
