Obama Claims Victory With Collectivist Message: Forward

After winning 303 electoral votes Tuesday night, President Barack Obama walked onto the stage at Obama Headquarters in Chicago with his family to accept his reelection victory.

“The task of perfecting our union moves forward. It moves forward because of you. It moves forward be cause you reaffirmed the spirit that has triumphed over war and depression,” Obama said. “We are an American family that will rise and fall together as one nation and as one people.”

Obama reflected briefly on the past four years, touted the auto bailout as he has on the campaign trail and threw the military a bone as devastating sequestration looms.

“Tonight, you, the American people reminded us that although the road has been long, the road has been hard, but we picked ourselves up,” Obama said. “I want to thank every American who participated in this election.”

Obama thanked volunteers and the “best campaign team in the history of politics.”

“Whether you pounded the pavement or picked up the phone, whether you held an Obama sign or a Romney sign, you made your voice heard and you made a difference,” Obama said. “Elections matter, it’s not small, it’s big.”

Obama thanked his wife Michelle Obama and said he loves her more than ever. He thanked Vice President Joe Biden for keeping things light on the campaign trail.

“I wouldn’t be the man I am today without the woman who agreed to marry me 20 years ago,” Obama said. “I want to thank my friend and America’s happy warrior of the past four years, Joe Biden.”

Obama talked about the hope of America’s future, saying he wants a country that has the best schools and one that invests in education. He also said he wants an America that isn’t “burdened” by debt, even though during his first term, America saw trillion dollar deficits every single year. He also said he believes in dignity for every human being.

“You will carry the memory of the history we made together and you will have a life long appreciation of a grateful president,” Obama said. “We know in our hearts, for the United States of America, the best is yet to come.”
