During an interview this morning on the Morning Majority radio show, host Mary Katherine Ham asked Chris Matthews why he hadn't expressed concerns about occupy movement protestors turning violent. During the healthcare debate, Matthews had predicted tea party members would become violent and that they were racist.
"I saw those people spitting on Congressmen," Matthews claims falsely in the interview.
Matthews is referring to the time liberals accused a tea partier of spitting on members of the Congressional Black Caucus just before Nancy Pelosi walked through the crowd with an obnoxiously large gavel just before she slammed it in the face of the American people, shoving government run healthcare down their throats. The problem is, nobody ever got spit on, despite media hysteria and Nancy Pelosi herself saying it happened. After months of accusing the tea party of racism in an effort to take down the movement, the Left couldn't find any evidence to back up their claims, so they manufactured it instead. Andrew Breitbart explained this in his book Righteous Indignation:
As the health-care debate drew to a close, the Democratic Party turned to its new primary concern: destroying the uprising. The first sign that a plan was in place was the ham-fisted, high-camp posturing of the Congressional Black Caucus to walk through the peaceful Tea Party demonstrators on their way to vote for the health-care bill on March 20, 2010. There was no reason for these elected officials to walk above ground through the media circus. The natural route is the tunnels between the House office buildings at the Capitol. By crafting a walk of the Congressional Black Caucus through the crowd, the Democratic Party was looking to provoke a negative reaction. They didn't get it . So they lied about it. They claimed immediately, without any proof, that black congressman had been spit at and slurred with the N word fifteen times.
To reiterate: there was no prof that the N word was used, or that anyone was purposefully spit upod. That Tea Party crowd was a sea of New Media equipment. Not only were hundreds of people armed with Handycams, BlackBerrys, and iPods, so were the mainstream media, which had come in expectation of a display of violence and backwardness by the Neanderthal Tea Partiers. They were there, covering evewry inch of the event. Does anyone really think that somehow they just missed it?

Yet Matthews is repeating the lie anyway while refusing to codemn the violent actions, rape, assault, murder and more of Occupy Wall Street.
