Gabrielle Giffords Internship Announcement

Liberal Arizona CD-8 Rep. Gabrielle Giffords has just sent out an announcement for internships in her Tucson district office for Spring and Summer 2011.

Apparently Giffords is highly confident she will be winning re-election come November against Candidate Jesse Kelly, who is neck-and-neck with her in the polls.

"I'm wondering if the internships are for her private life in Houston," campaign manager for the Kelly campaign Adam Kwasman said about the internships.

Internship Announcement for the Office of

Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords

We are now accepting internship applications for the Spring and Summer semesters of 2011. Our internship program is open to all majors and provides an opportunity for students to learn, first hand, how a Congressional office operates. Interns work closely with staff to create a team that is accessible and responsive to the constituents of Congressional District 8. Our internship opportunities are unpaid, but we are more than happy to work with students to help earn school credits. Interns are required to do at least 2 shifts of four and a half hours twice a week. The shifts are from 8-12:30 and from 12:30-5. There are also full time positions available where schedules permit.

Interns perform a variety of duties including day-to-day administrative work, data entry, answering phones, drafting constituent correspondence, helping constituents work with federal agencies, and assisting staff where necessary.

Please keep in mind that internships are competitive. Prospective interns will be contacted regarding an interview following a review of credentials. Priority will be given to those who are residents of Arizona’s 8th Congressional District.

Applications are accepted year round for fall, spring, and summer internships.  I recommend that you send in your resume as early as possible. If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to call Joni Jones at (520)881-3588.
