Ireland native Ann McElhinney, a conservative independent filmmaker and producer of “Mine Your Own Business,” is challenging environmentalists and Al Gore not only on their false “facts” but on their morals as well. She spoke today at the June Conservative Women’s Network meeting held at the Heritage Foundation in Washington, DC.
In her new documentary “Not Evil, Just Wrong,” which premieres on October 18, 2009 at 8 p.m. all over the world, McElhinney along with her husband Phelim McAleer, expose how extreme environmentalism damages prosperity throughout the globe, specifically and most importantly focusing on the ban of the chemical DDT which according to the World Health Organization is the most effective and inexpensive way of preventing Malaria.
“Malaria is a huge problem in the world,” she said.
McElhinney, especially after being a journalist for the BBC, CBC, and RTE for seven years, is disgusted with the mainstream media and their convenient way of leaving DDT out of the reporting about Malaria.
“Journalism is an extraordinary privilege, but you have to tell the truth,” she said.
In Uganda alone, 270 children die per day from Malaria. These deaths are easily preventable with the use of DDT.
“The idea that the people in Africa get used to death,” (shaking her head and pausing) she said, “if these children were dying in Pennsylvania, we would have loads of DDT. I’m sorry, I don’t care about anything until we sort out the children.”

McElhinney believes Africa is “a mess,” because the people living on the continent are sick all the time, which isn’t going to change in the near future with environmentalists continuing to ban chemicals and drugs that can be used to greatly improve quality of life.
Rachel Carson, an extreme environmentalist who led the way for the ban of DDT to “save” the environment, was wrong in her opposition to the use of DDT according to McElhinney.
“DDT doesn’t hurt anything,” she said, “Malaria skyrocketed after DDT was banned,” making death a normal occurrence throughout numerous communities around the world, but specifically in Africa.
“I love chemicals. Who wants natural? Anthrax is natural, cancer is natural. I want all the drugs and chemicals,” she said while explaining how people are living longer due to scientific progress that has potential to help millions of people until environmentalists get in the way.
On the issue of carbon dioxide emissions and global warming, which is also a topic covered in her new film, McElhinney said, “C02 (carbon dioxide) is the new DDT.”
McElhinney explained the actions of Al Gore are catastrophic for millions of people, and once again children are the targets.
The British High Court found nine significant errors in Al Gore’s film “An Inconvenient Truth,” which is regularly shown numerous times as fact in public school class rooms all around the US and Britain.
Regardless of these findings, Al Gore was given a Nobel Peace Prize, an Oscar, an Emmy, and his film is still portrayed as accurate and true by the main stream media.
“The idea of teaching children things that are not true in appalling to me,” McElhinney said.
McElhinney stressed that Al Gore’s goals to get rid of the use of all fossil fuels within ten years is an extremely dangerous goal that will hinder the prosperity of humanity.
“Energy makes us safe. Energy makes us live longer. We need more of it.”
