Afghanistan War Will Take Longer

In the wake of an attack that killed 40 civilians, General Stanley McChrystal says it's going to take longer than usual to secure Kandahar, a city that is essential to win over if we are to win the war in Afghanistan. The campaign was originally scheduled to end in August. From the

The slower pace of the make-or-break operation reflects the reality that the Taliban is not a hated occupier in Kandahar, and the residents McChrystal is trying to protect do not universally want his help.
"I do think it will happen more slowly than we had originally anticipated," McChrystal said.
