I'm guessing the same for exactly the same reasons. I imagine conservatives will stand up for what they should this coming election, and I hope/pray that some real conservative candidates get the votes.

My guess would be that conservatives are going to come out in droves to vote- we KNOW what is at stake with the next two elections. Conservatives are "the Silent Majority." The Silent Majority gets up and goes to work every day, they pay their bills and are willing to pay for what they have. The Silent Majority would feel shame living on hand-outs and charity. The Silent Majority lives and lets live; they value ALL life, young or old, sick or not, each individual is valuable and the world is poorer without them. Molotov is right about "If" but the economy isn't like a light switch or faucet that we can just turn on. The economy is more like a plant that grows and is busy producing, and it grows and grows. In this case, the plant is not being watered and has been placed in a dark closet. On purpose. No way, no how the economy is going to be humming right along in 2012. Take a look around and you'll notice small business closings- shops that had been around for years. Most small business owners are struggling to keep their doors open and weather the Obama storm. Many of them weren't able to hang in there.

Most likely, it's a voting "tool" designed to get Democrats off their couches and pounding the pavement working for Democrat registrations and "team spirit" cheerleaders. 20% is the official number. Just like here, the real number is way lower. My friend wanted to move back home to Barcelona, but decided why? As bad as it is here, its worse there. Zapa keeps making unemployment benefits longer and longer. People that want jobs (self worth) are getting in a funk that will have long term effects.

When I was in Switzerland last month, I caught a big protest about the abortion on the news. Zapa wants to make it available to 16 y.o. without consent.

I was there 2 weeks in April; Madrid to be exact. (I speak fluent Spanish, too.)

Not only does Rodriguez Zapatero's gov't impoverish those people; the effects of rampant socialism has made it a different country. It was 25% unemplyment last spring. I never heard that it took any upswing. People are so discouraged it seems like the old Soviet Satellites out of the past.

As far as "green jobs", look up BHOs definitions for those and you'll find its the same in Spain.


Continuously raising taxes on the wealthy to pay for entitlement programs for everyone has put Spain at the bottom of the EU. They used to be on top. Zapatero's policies are very similar to BHOs.

I understand that you never specifically mentioned 20 months I was just referring to dreadnaught's comment that 20 months for the economy to turn around is unrealistic. As for the residential sales, it is my understanding that those jumped a little and then remained dismal. New unemployment claims dropping in my opinion is a poor indicator of the economy because all that means is that the job cuts are slowing, not that there is a turnaround. Slowing of job cuts in my understanding is more indicative of companies reaching a sustaining point where they no longer need to cut as many jobs to remain in business. The indicators I would use would include consumer spending, some of the residential sales, business spending, and production as an...
