Chris Christie: So, That Whole Christine O'Donnell Thing Was A Giant Misadventure, Wasn't It?

Not a verbatim quote from the Big Gov, but you get his drift:

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says the Senate race in Delaware was "a missed opportunity" for his fellow Republicans to pick up the seat long held by Democrat Joe Biden.

Tea party favorite Christine O'Donnell won the GOP nomination in an upset over moderate Rep. Mike Castle. But she lost the general election Tuesday to Democrat Chris Coons.

Christie says he was proud to have endorsed Castle.

Christie told NBC's "Meet the Press" that "I think Delaware was a missed opportunity to have a really good U.S. senator."

Whether you were a big O'Donnell fan, or a hopeless RINO like yours truly, the empirical data bears out Christie's point.  Let the debate begin over why O'Donnell got trounced: Was she too conservative for the state?  Was she a fatally flawed candidate?  Or did internecine conservative fighting undermine any chance she may have had to win?  Sen. Jim DeMint weighs in:

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.), the conservative kingmaker who backed a number of tea party candidates heading into Tuesday's elections, said that it's "a very silly thing to say" that tea party candidates cost the GOP control of the Senate. Delaware Senate nominee Christine O'Donnell "was so maligned from Republicans that she didn't really have a chance," DeMint added.

This is not the last we've heard of this discussion among Righties, I can promise you that.
