How to Vote and Find Your Polling Place on Election Day

There’s less than a week left before Election Day. If you are a registered voter - and you are not one of the millions voting early - it is time to find where you need to go to cast your ballot.

Google developed this nifty tool to help voters easily find their polling place. All that is needed is the registrant’s address - house or apartment building number, street name, city and state - and the assigned polling location will appear on Google Maps. Interested parties can click through for directions to the polling destination. Polling place operation hours, what day the location opens, and other important voting information are also provided within the tool.

By clicking on “Requirements,” viewers will see a checklist similar to this:

  • Be registered to vote in [your state]. If you're unsure, you can click a link to check.
  • Be a US citizen.
  • Be 18 years of age by Election Day, November 8th.

Depending on the state, there may be other requirements. This section also lists any day-of identification requirements.

At the bottom of the tool, more information on “How to Vote” and “How to Register” will be listed; however, most states’ registration deadlines have already passed.

By clicking “Ballot,” voters will be given a list of the candidates running for each position on national, state and local levels. Simply clicking on a candidate’s name will provide additional background information. Some office positions are even given descriptions so readers know what general responsibilities the winning candidate will inherit.

Knowing this should help make casting your vote on November 8th just a hair less stressful.
