Despite its massive unpopularity, even among her fellow Democrats, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) plans to make her Green New Deal a major issue in the next presidential election. She and Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) will head to Howard University on Monday for an event organized by the Sunrise Movement to make it clear to voters that the 2020 election will be "a referendum" on the Green New Deal.

The Congressional Leadership Fund, whose goal it is to elect Republican leadership, couldn't be more on board.

"We wholeheartedly endorse their campaign to make the upcoming election about the Green New Deal and eagerly encourage their freshman colleagues to discuss the plan as publicly, as loudly, and as often as possible," the CLF writes on its website. "It’ll save us millions beating them."

They continue:

“If Democrats want to make the 2020 elections about the Green New Deal, then all we have to say is: game on,” said CLF Spokesman Calvin Moore. “Democrats continuing to discuss their plan to blow $93 trillion taxpayer dollars on a wholly unrealistic plan to ban air travel and rebuild every single building in the country is only helping elect Republicans to the House of Representatives. We welcome their efforts with open arms.”

To gauge the GND's unpopularity, the Democrats wouldn't even take Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell up on his offer to vote on it in March. Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) admitted he couldn't make heads or tails of the measure. And, my personal favorite, Speaker Nancy Pelosi has dismissed Ocasio-Cortez's measure as "the green dream or whatever."
