Romney: A GOP Candidate Asked Me To Join 2016 Race

Yes, 2012 Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney is still being urged to run in the 2016 race. Even, it seems, from someone in this year's crop of candidates. Romney told The Washington Post about the surprising call he got from a current GOP contender.

"Every day I get a call or letters,"Romney told the Washington Post."I go to church, I get harangued at church. 'Oh, you've got to run!' Look, I had one person who was running for president, and I won't give you the name."

That person, Romney told the newspaper, "called me and said, 'I hope you don't close the door. We may need you.' That's a person running for president! A candidate. A Republican. I'm not giving it a second thought."

Perhaps Romney is still being eyed as a candidate because of his accurate predictions during the 2012 campaign. During a debate against Obama, Romney called Russia our “number one geopolitical foe.” He was mocked at the time, but he has since been proven true after Russia demonstrated its intent to expand its authority when it annexed Crimea last year. Romney also recognized Iran as being one of our greatest national security threats and their determination to build a nuclear weapon. He warned Iran would have a clearer path to the bomb should Obama be reelected. After the White House signed a flawed nuclear agreement with the nation, some would argue that prediction has also become reality.

Romney has weighed in on the current field, sharing his hesitancy with a Jeb Bush candidacy, in particular. He reportedly warned the former Florida governor last January how hard it would be for him to defeat the Democratic frontrunner.

“Jeb, to be very honest, I think it’s very hard for you to post up against Hillary Clinton and to separate yourself from the difficulty of the W. years and compare them with the Clinton years.”

That, he insisted, would be an all “too easy” match up for the Democrats.

The question remains: Who is Romney’s secret fan?
