Welp, We Can All Go Home Now Because Ted Cruz Just Owned Deadspin

Twitter can be a dicey place. On Tuesday, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) made it somewhat magical by completely owning the website Deadspin in just two tweets.

Let's present this as act in four parts:

Act I: Sports website Deadspin attempts to embarrass Ted Cruz on Monday afternoon.

Apparently, Cruz has set up a basketball game with his Republican Senate colleagues, which I'll admit is an extremely funny mental image. Deadspin wants proof of this, in a similar manner to how they bizarrely accused Sen. Cory Gardner (R-CO) of lying about his high school football career back in 2014.

Act II: Ted Cruz comes in with a zinger.

Cruz replied with a picture of Grayson Allen, a junior guard at Duke University. The resemblance between the two has been documented for the entirety of Allen's time at Duke.

Act III: Deadspin realizes they've been defeated.

Ah, a mature, measured response.

Act IV: Cruz reveals himself as a memelord.

*Mic drop.*

Thankfully, people were cognizant and appreciative of the Twitter poetry they just watched unfold.

First, who knew that Ted Cruz had jokes? Second, dang. That was incredibly hilarious and topical for a senator who is usually portrayed as being completely out of touch with just about everything. Adding in Deadspin's non-response response, this is just an amazing Twitter interaction overall. Well played, Ted.
