Those Redneck, Racist Pennsylvanians
Oct 20, 2008 10:04 PM EST
Just a week after
calling western Pennsylvanians "racist," John Murtha is at it again.
This time he called western Pennsylvanians "rednecks."Don't forget these Pennsylvanians are the ones Barack was referring to when he
made this famous statement:
You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them. . . . So it's not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations. (emphasis added).
So all those good, hardworking people Pennsylvania must be asking themselves: Why on earth would I support a party that thinks I'm nothing more than a racist redneck (
too ignorant to understand my own economic interests), who's "cling[ing]" to guns and religion because that's all I've got?
