Obama's Abortion Bailout

Barack Obama is considering a plan to increase funding for abortion by $1 billion when he comes into office.

A coalition of pro-abortion advocacy groups submitted a

55-page proposal to Obama's transition team that calls for a $1 billion increase in federal funds for abortion providers titled "Advancing Reproductive Rights and Health in a New Administration."

The pro-life Susan B. Anthony list has sent out email alerts to activists saying, "This billion-dollar bailout of the abortion industry comes at a time, number one, when the economy is suffering dramatically with true need. And number two, it communicates an incredible depth of arrogance, especially when you consider that the vast majority of Americans -- men and women, no matter who you talk to -- they don't believe that people who don't believe in abortion should be funding it."

Among the bullet-pointed agenda items on the report are requests for Obama to "increase access to abortion care," "restore incentives to provide affordable birth control at college health centers" and rescinding President Bush's requirement that foreign countries do not use American aid dollars to pay for abortion.
