Smears Against Cantor

Just got this email from the National Jewish Democratic Council Press Secretary Aaron Keyak:
I thought you might be interested in our latest Huffington Post piece titled, "Top Ten Reasons Rep. Eric Cantor is Out of Step with Jews (and Americans)."

In this post Ira Forman, Executive Director of the National Jewish Democratic Council, says, "Cantor is clearly from the right of the right wing of the Republican Party. If McCain thinks that Cantor will help him with the Jewish community because he's Jewish, McCain is sorely mistaken. In summary, Cantor is an unknown in the Jewish community but the more the community gets to know him, the less of him it will like."

I'm not linking this post because it is obviously a smear created because there's been some recent press about Cantor being considered as a VP choice for McCain.

This group is disgustingly insinuating Cantor is in the mix solely because of his religion. I read it as a preemptive strike to cast Cantor as a "token candidate" and dismiss him of this credentials that should not be tolerated, regardless of whether or not he's on McCain's shortlist.

In the meantime, I'm not holding my breath for any pieces from the African American lobby that Obama is "out of step with Blacks (and Americans)" to go up on the HuffPost, much less blasted out in an email to reporters.

Update:Townhall intern Rafi Katz swings by my office to tell me about similar efforts made against Jewish Sen. Joe Lieberman in the past. He also directs me to Democrats.org where a

page about Cantor links him to the scandal-plagued Jack Abramoff because they are both Jewish and attended the same events.
