Reid: Comey ‘Singlehandedly’ Won The Election For Trump Because He Wrote A Letter About Clinton's Emails

Outgoing Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) did not mince words about how his feeling towards FBI Director James Comey and the alleged Russian interference conducted by the Kremlin that purportedly helped President-elect Donald J. Trump win the 2016 election. Reid flatly said that Comey “singlehandedly” tipped the election in Trump’s favor with that zero hour letter informing Congress that the FBI had found new emails off of the laptop of Clinton’s top aide Huma Abedin (via Al Weaver/The Washington Examiner):

Reid at first resisted the idea that Comey by himself tipped the election, but then said that does appear to be the case.

"I'll say singlehandedly, had he not written that letter a week or so before the election, she would have won and we would have picked up two more Senate seats," he told CNN.

"Comey helped Trump significantly," Reid explained. "A week before the election, he came out with this, 'oh, we've found some more emails,' and as a result of that we lost Senate seats, and I think we lost the presidency."

Reid also argued the FBI didn't look into anything about possible hacking by Russia into the Democratic National Committee and the email of Clinton operatives, including John Podesta, because FBI Director James Comey is a "partisan." Reid said he sent Comey a letter on this during the year, but said it was ignored.

They looked into nothing," Reid said. "It's obvious [Comey] was a partisan in all this ... It's obvious. There's information out there. He had it, I'm confident, and he ignored it."

Reid also said that he believes Russia was trying to help Trump, noting “all this stuff from the intelligence agencies.”

Democrats went apoplectic over Comey’s letter during the election, though it’s not exactly unprecedented. During the 1992 campaign, the Clinton campaign jumped on the late former Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger being indicted on charges related to the Iran-Contra affair four days before the election, using it to discredit George H.W. Bush’s presidency. A federal judge later dismissed the indictment.

So, Democrats, again, are just going to have to deal with the fact that their gal got beat. Moreover, “all of the stuff” is mostly from anonymous sources, which should not be taken as evidence that Moscow directed hacks to interfere with our election. There still a lot of questions, innuendo, and rumor in the air about Russia’s hacking allegations. The CIA says one thing, while the FBI is somewhat more skeptical regarding their intent. Also, there is no evidence to suggest that Comey is a partisan, so Reid is still up to his usual tricks, just saying outright lies to make himself feel better, or to help his party during an election year. For Democrats, it’s always someone else’s fault.

Now, that’s not to say that there shouldn’t be an inquiry into these allegations. There certainly enough circumstantial evidence to look into this matter, but with the absence of definitive evidence that Russia directed hacks to help Trump—the Left isn’t doing anyone any favors pushing what anonymous sources say as fact.
