Assailants targeted protesters demonstrating against the exclusion of a presidential candidate in Cairo early Wednesday, killing at least 11, medical sources told CNN.
At least 100 people were injured, said Hisham Shiha, the deputy minister of health.
It was unclear who the attackers were, but they were not wearing uniforms, witnesses said.
