Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Contrary to a widely circulated report in Tuesday's Washington Post, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, the Republican vice-presidential nominee, did not slash funding for a program supporting teen mothers.

The Washington Post’s Paul Kane reported that “Palin Slashed Funding for Teen Moms.” The far-left Huffington Post repeated the story the next day, and it was off and running. To support this contention, Kane produced the 2008 Alaska budget, along with Governor Palin’s line-item reductions. Kane said, “Palin reduced funding for Covenant House Alaska by more than 20 percent, cutting funds from $5 million to $3.9 million.” Sounds like a reduction, right?

Not so. Here’s the background.

Covenant House Alaska is a faith-based, not-for-profit agency which provides a variety of services to troubled teens, including a home for teen moms. Although the work with adolescent mothers is only one component of Covenant's services, Kane focused on this particular aspect of its work. His focus was not a surprise, given the revelation that Governor Palin’s teen daughter is five months pregnant. Covenant House requested additional state funding to help expand housing capacity. The legislature agreed that expansion was a worthy objective and allocated the substantial sum of $5 million in the proposed budget.

In Alaska, the governor is allowed to reduce budget allocations in the service of sound management and fiscal accountability. It is true that Mrs. Palin trimmed the proposed $5 million allocation to $3.9 million. However, the Washington Post did not tell readers that the state of Alaska's 2008 allocation was three times more than Covenant House Alaska received from all government grants in 2007. According to records posted on the Covenant House Alaska website, the organization received just over $1.3 million dollars from grants in 2007 and nearly $1.2 million in 2006. Even with the reductions, Governor Palin signed a budget which provided a massive influx of support for troubled teens.

Thus, the Post report is misleading on three counts. One, the funding in question went to an organization which provides many different services, including work with teen mothers. There was no funding at issue exclusively earmarked for pregnant teens. No funds directly allocated to teen moms were slashed.

Two, the report gives the impression that the Governor reduced prior state funding levels, when, in fact, the Palin-approved budget allowed a massive expansion of funding for this faith-based organization. The organization’s total revenue for 2007, from all sources, was just over $3 million. Thus, the amount approved by Palin and the Alaska legislature was a huge increase. The money given to Covenant House cannot be considered a cut in funding; it was a raise, even if the raise was not as great as originally contemplated by the legislature.

Three, Covenant House Alaska experienced no cut in operating expenses as the result of the Palin budget. The center’s executive director, Deirdre Cronin, explained it this way in a September 4 statement, which she provided directly to me:

Despite some press reports to the contrary, our operating budget was not reduced. Our $3.9 million appropriation is directed toward a multi-year capital project and it is our understanding that the state simply opted to phase in its support for this project over several years, rather than all at once in the current budget year.

Viewed within the context of prior expenditures, it becomes clear that Governor Palin increased funding for social services which benefit kids, not “slashed” them as the Post reported. The increase is the beginning of a multi-year investment in help for vulnerable teens. A prudent course, the state will monitor the progress of Covenant House and allocate funds over time. In this way, Palin demonstrated she is not afraid to exercise fiscal caution, even when that decision involves those of similar ideology. On the organization’s website, Covenant House makes a clear religious appeal saying:

Just as Christ in His humanity is the visible sign of God’s presence among His people, so our efforts together in the covenant community are a visible sign that effects the presence of God, working through the Holy Spirit among ourselves and our kids.

Taking everything into account, a dramatically different picture of Governor Palin’s actions comes into focus. Executive Director Cronin sees it differently than Mr. Kane, saying, “We are grateful for the support we have received from Governor Sarah Palin, the Alaska legislature and our Congressional delegation over the years.”

In Washington, D.C., sometimes more is less. In Alaska, more is still more.

S-P's: Feeling threatened?
If there was truly no substance to the strength of Sarah Palin as a qualified Chief Executive, mother, wife and, oh! . . . SOLID and GENUINE social and fiscal conservative with a track record instead of a litany of rhetoric, the S-P's (Secular-Progressives) wouldn't feel so threatened by her being on McCain's ticket.

The liberal papers can't do math contd.

To all the nay-sayers who
are critical of the budget change. Did you read the article or just skim it for vocal weapons. I quote:

A bomb,eh? Let's see who explodes first, loony.I know you libs thought you had the election sewed up,but sh!t happens, you know.

Don't sweat it.In less than five days,we know more about her than we do the 'little messiah'. I expect we will learn more about him soon. All negative.

We already know he is a Marxist/communist,but much juicier stuff will be uncovered soon. Even the "Mighty MSM" will not be able to stifle it this time.

Who am I?
Who Am I?
I am under 45 years old,
I love the outdoors,
I hunt,
I am a Republican reformer,
I have taken on the Republican Party establishment,
I have many children,
I have a spot on the national ticket as vice president with less than two years in the governor's office.
Did you guess?

I am Teddy Roosevelt in 1900

Ha Ha Ha
Cult? You want to see cult--look at the fanatical morons crying and screaming over Sarah Palin. Celebrity. Here's real Brittany Spears-Paris Hilton type celebrity. Palin is the best thing that could have happened to the Obama-Biden campaign. She is a bomb about to explode. It is just a matter of time. Of course, that's if McBush allows her to speak to the media. What are you afraid of, McSame?

Great choice
Senator McCain-Feingold finally did something right--he picked Palin. The media has proven that she was the best possible choice by going completely berserk. Even Obama Bin Biden might have enough of a passing awareness of reality to realize that there is nothing he can do to stop her.

You-n-Me:
The MSM is going to try everything they can to destroy Sarah Palin over the next two months. Already, they've tried to portray the Palin family as white trash; lose women getting preggers.

Everyday between now and November 4th we need to talk to everyone we come across, especially our friends and family members. Make sure everyone is registered to vote, and that they know what the important facts are. America is depending on everyone to get involved; we're in for a fight against Obama and the MSM propaganda machine. The stakes are too high, and America simply cannot afford Obama, on oh so many levels. Are any members of your family Obamabots? Rescue them from the cult! We've got to get the word out, and perhaps word of mouth from "the Average American" is the most trustworthy endorsement a candidate could have.

Bringing Palin down!
I'm sorry for all the immediate bashings of Sara Palin that are a very strong indication that she's "hot". At least Sara
Palin has "stuff" or accomplishments as a leader that becomes open target for liberal hunters to spin....whereas Mr. Obama, who has only 143 actual days in Congress, has very few accomplishments to take apart and misconstrue.
I believe that there are too many people who repeat "heresay" caught up in the frenzy of negative yet popular gossip... an indication of a soft generation without the strength of scruples. I strongly believe the media should be held accountable for errancy in their reporting...and that it be required of them to check the facts before handing in their articles for print!

I Am Sans Pareil @12:20 PM
All in all, I'll take it, too. In fact, I want to bypass McCain and take it now.

I must, respectfully, disagree with you that McCain is not the future of the party. He is the future Republicans have brought on themelves, for the next four to eight years. My concern is that, after 4-8 years of Mr. Maverick at the helm, the Republican nomination won't be worth the proverbial plugged nickle to Jindal or anyone short of Goldwater's own ghost. Don't get me wrong - I so much want to believe what you say. But when I look at McCain, it's really difficult.

("Brought on themselves . . ." I'm willing to discuss that he was brought on the party by Democratic and nut-root saboteur voters in open primaries. But in any case, he's the man, now.)

odd spin
What a bizarre spin. The Alaska legislature approved 5 million dollars for construction of a center which would be used to house in need mothers. Palin's contribution to the issue was to cut (one might even say slash) the amount that went to the center.

Throckmorton is trying to argue that Palin should get credit for what the legislator did rather than for what she did.

If the issue is supporting troubled teen mothers it seems that McCain would have done better picking a member of the Alaska Legislature at random rather than Palin since most of them were more supportive of the cause.

McCain in his own words:
McCain himself said yesterday, "You know what I enjoyed the most? She took the luxury jet that was acquired by her predecessor, and sold it on eBay -- and made a profit!"

"I Put It ON EBAY"
I don't know what John McCain said about the plane, but I understood Gov.Palin to say she put it on Ebay. Not that she sold it on Ebay. I may be wrong about that, though.

Palin energizes base
In the hills and hollows, up crick and down dale
Throwback revenants gnash teeth and send up a hail
The hicks from the sticks each one and each pair of
with a frenzied howl cry out for darlin’ Ms. Sarah
With a beating of drums and a blare of brass horns
The hillbillies and trailer trash are wailin’ for Palin!

Lying is a real issue...
to the rest of us, it may not be perhaps the right's strong point. Otherwise it would be one less weapon in their arsenal.

lies and the dems
asking to have cover-ups and lies exposed cuts two ways, Ron. Your guy appears to be a bit exposed, here. Instead of trying to shout down folks who disagree with you, why not try to find a real issue to discuss

And while we're at it
How about explaining how Kane could be justified in calling a 300% increase in funding to a well-qualified faith-based charity a funding cut? I'm not a math whiz, but I thought a cut would entail a reduction, not an increase.

Maybe I am not getting...
through, but why lie about selling the jet on Ebay and making a profit on it as Mccain said so yesterday? I will tell you why, to cover up the republican boondoggle purchase to begin with, thats why!

For all those concerned about the cut in
the increase to Covenant House please get your checkbooks out and write a check. Covenant House is an excellent organization. Giving runaways a place to be safe.

Liberals lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie, lie. That is what they do.

disconnect
Ok, in the first place, whether the plane was sold for a loss or a profit is of secondary importance. The fact is that she recognized that having a luxury jet was over the top and got rid of it. The point about the fuel only strengthens the case; no jet, no added expendatures for jet fuel. That really shouldn't be so hard to grasp. Secondly, people who don't put their trust in Christ will never understand those of us who do. It should be no surprise that we are attacked.

So Ron, In Closing -
Just keep repeating your Hosannas to the false Nobamassiah and it will all be over soon.

Like ALL True Libs & their True Lies, half-truths and pick & choose fact reporting you have done your genus (that's GENUS not Genius) well.

I know being mathmatically challenged as so many of your kind seem to be you cannot tell what time the buns in the oven are done if there's a 2nd batch in there at the same time.

It goes to ECONOMICS in the case of the jet! Let the jet sit on the tarmac losing value or fill the tank again & again constantly draining the wallets of the Alaskan Taxpaying public!!! Hmmmm.
600 grand is a small loss for the sale Bozo, especially when the cost of maintaining what most Lib-Loon-Leaders & heroes consider a 'Mere Bauble' can quickly run into the multi-millions of dollars.
Consider this - sale or no sale the Lefties would find an argument...either Palins "carbon footprint" would be too big or the cost of maintaining the jet...or in your case, the idea she saved her state money!

There's a very, very, very rude, defamatory song about Matt Lauer at http://www.macidol.com/song/23187

I can't argue with facts...
So I will throw in all kinds of foolish nonsense to try and cover up the ugly truth. So Pareil, how many tanks does it take? What fool would say they sold something at a PROFIT when in fact it was sold at a tremendous LOSS? A rightwing one would, thats who.

And how many tanks of jet fuel does it take to equal 600,000 dollars? Maybe you should e-mail John F-ing Kerry or one of the Hollywierd Elites to find out.

Leftie goons in panick
Lefties on this site together with the MSM, socialists (Dems) are scurrying like panicked cockroaches exposed to sudden light already known as "Hurricane" Sarah in my neck of the woods...
It's pretty obvious that the very first thing the McCain/Palin administration needs to do is a radical overhaul of our failed education system right after disbanding the NEA.
The second is Tort Reform.
Third - Term Limits for Congress
Only after these can they start paying attention to the economy and start cutting taxes and regulations in the world's second most onerous country for business. (Japan is first, with an economy stagnated for the past 11 years)

Obama did something right!
He sent 60 attorneys to Alaska, at least he got them out of the other 49 states.

BK re: 1:15am post
"It's as if the party believes if they can get a good head of enthusiasm going for Palin among Americans in general, Americans will vote for the ticket and overlook the fact that McCain is, shall we say, not a conservative's conservative."

Let's be honest shall we.
1st - Palin, like Jindahl, Pawlenty, and others represent the 'New Face' of the Republican Party.
Among "normal Americans" WE BELIEVE these people will be viewed for what THEY ARE - CHANGE for the BETTER...HOPE for the FUTURE and REFORM of OUR political system, something the VAST MAJORITY of "NORMAL Americans" yearn for.

2nd - Even though McCain is not as you say a "conservatives conservative" (not my first choice for sure) again, the FUTURE is not McCain BUT the PRESENT is either John McCain, a proven Moderate, or an EXTREME LEFTIST! That makes the choice that much easier for me.

3rd - Should Palin become the FIRST WOMAN VP in history she WILL bring working women juggling their families & careers into the GOP making the party stronger in the near term & possibly for the long term.
An added bonus is that she immediately has an advantage over Hillary Clinton in the future (National/World events notwithstanding) and THAT is a PRETTY good firewall against returning the PEOPLES HOUSE to the likes of THE Clintonistas.

All in All - I'll take it!!

BUT
The short answer is simply this - It is a Net Gain for the taxpayers of Alaska.
Just Ask 80% of them if THEY approved.

I just realized why McC chose Sarah
She's the only prominent republican female who's shorter than he is.

Think about it.

So in other words...
McCain is lying. "You know what I enjoyed the most? She took the luxury jet that was acquired by her predecessor, and sold it on eBay -- and made a profit!" McCain declared in Wisconsin at a campaign stop Friday.

The right will stoop to outright lying to steal this election, they can never be trusted.

The plane was sold through a broker after it had been put on Ebay and did not sell. There was one serious bidder but it fell through at the last minute In order to make some money to meet the state threshold they sold it Reynolds.

I am fully expecting that next week the Demos start going after her years as a PTA mom. Keep digging at her, with every dig you guys show just how out of touch with middle class America and rural America that you REALLY are!

Palin the Impaler
The more the highly biased media try to destroy Sara Palin, the more they will stoke the flames of resentment of normal folks. The media see themselves as the elite, yet they display their self destructive stupidity and arrogance by continuing to offend the very folks that MIGHT have bought their newspapers, listened to their TV reports, etc. From the standpoint of this self-induced death spiral, it will be interesting to see how the public rejection of the so-called "mainstream(?)" media plays out.

The radical left media is strongly displaying how totally out of touch they are with the real, genuine, everyday folks that keep the USA going.

Why the media types insist on driving the stake of Sara Palin through their own hearts is a quandry. Folks with common sense will soon rate the credibility of the media well below the record low of the current Congress.

Subject: Why did Snowflake and...

McBush lie about the jet plane being sold on Ebay for a profit when it actually sold for a $600,000 loss to one of her friends? I thought we had enough of republican corruption during the last 8 years to last a lifetime.

God in his wisdom will never allow such an immoral woman to lead this great nation, to do so would invite the great one to destroy it.

In fact, the jet did not sell on eBay. It was sold to a businessman from Valdez named Larry Reynolds, who paid $2.1 million for the plane -- shy of the $2.7 million purchase price -- according to news reports at the time. Reynolds contributed to Palin's campaign in 2006.

God Bless America
He always has blest America - and here again - by circumstances only He could set in motion - we have Sarah Palin.
It is reported - the Dems have sent 60 attorneys into Alaska to get something on Sarah Palin.
We do not need 60 attorneys to find out about - Ayers, Wright, Rezko (and all his connections and friends), etc. etc. - the list goes on.
Most of the information on all the strange associations Obama maintained for many years is available for us to read and think - what kind of person is this?? I have talked to long time Dems - some of them have been very frightened by Obama's speeches and remarks -
now that voters see a real fresh candidate with solid values Obama is even more frightening.

Ranger29 writes
"Sarah Palin...who I have long advocated and think the world of."

"Lomg advocated?" Are you Alaskan? If you can tell me from experience she really is all the party is cracking her up to be, I'll sleep easier.

Tadpole
TAdpole, I heard her say it too and couldn't hardly believe my ears. No problem knowing which side she belives the press is on.
With the new unemployment rate the highest it has been in several years, Al Sharpton couldn't hardly wait to blame it on Bush when the last two years have been under Democrate control. I was sure that Hannity would bring it up but didn't.
My democrate family will definitely vote for McCain/Palin this next election.

Ranger29
I understand the distinction you're making. What worries me is that, at the moment, the excitement over Palin personally is outshouting the "clean up Washington" theme. I would like to see the "clean" theme take front-and-center in the party strategy position soon, because time is running out.

If I were to become truly pessimistic, I'd think that the party has decided the only way to beat Obama is on his own terms - celebrity and glamor. In a contest like that, I'm sure Palin would win and we'd be saved an Obama administration. But Lord! - what would that say about American politics?

A question, my conservative friends
First, let me say I am not an Obama-ite. There have been enough of them sneaking into this site lately to make such a disclaimer necessary.

That said, I'm worried by the enthusiam for Palin. Not that she doesn't deserve it, but that level of enthusiasm should, by right and by political necessity, go to the top of the ticket.

It's as if the Republican Party is so hard-up for any kind of good news, they're running with Palin a lot harder that any party normally would with their vice-presidential candidate. It's as if the party believes if they can get a good head of enthusiasm going for Palin among Americans in general, Americans will vote for the ticket and overlook the fact that McCain is, shall we say, not a conservative's conservative.

So here's my question - can we bank on winning this election with a strategy of getting voters truly pumped-up to make Palin their vice-president? (And if this works, what type of administration will that get us?)

Silent Majority No More
The race baiters Jackson,Sharpton,Wright,Obama etc. have all made it acceptable to say what we think and not be politically correct about race and other previous no no's.

The despicable elites who are trying to destroy our candidates and our party have gone too far. There must be a stopping point and this is it. We are silent no more.

One troll accused a poster of having his tv stuck on Fox. It is sad that Fox is the only channel who even TRIES to be balanced. I admit I have tried other channels and they make me want to throw something.

Can Palin Defend America

Would you rather have Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi or Sarah Palin come to your defense, if you and your family were threatened with death?

Well you and your family are threatened?

McCain/Palin 08

Female American Warrior

The American Warrior was at her Church when she heard gunfire. Drawing her weapon she entered a hallway filled with evil.

She determined that her fellow worshippers would not die that day.

With icy bravery and nerves of steel, she stood her ground with a single weapon and destroyed evil that had multiple weapons and a 1000 rounds of ammunition.

The American Warrior waits for the day that they have lived for and trained for their entire life - to defend until death, America, family and its citizens.

The Real American Woman

The world was fighting for its life during World War II.

Madmen had declared War against humanity and were intent on destroying freedom and any man, woman or child that stood in the way.

Most women were homemakers and few knew how to work in factories and weld and create tanks and armaments.

Their husbands, fathers, brothers and neighbors were fighting this evil and many were dying everyday.

These soldiers needed supplies and equipment and almost every able bodied man was in another land fighting for all they held dear.

Women by the millions, volunteered to work and make the equipment and supplies that were so desperately needed.

Women had to work hard and learn fast to save their men.

Women had to manage long exhausting hours and still take care of the family.

Women like Sarah Palin, took charge and scrimped and did without, with little thought for themselves.

God Bless the American Woman!

Sarah Palin the Real Deal

Sarah Palin is NOT an exception - there are millions of women like her.

When I first read the Palin resume I thought I was reading the resume of my wife or one of my daughters or hundreds of other women I have worked with.

Strong, smart, exceptional shot with a hadgun or rifle. Career of excellence, good mother able to outfish most anyone.

Multi-tasker, common sense able to handle almost any job, home and family.

Strong values and fearless in the face of anyone trying to attack her husband or children.

I have said for years, I fear no man and only one woman - the fear that I might fall short of her faith in me, her trust, her confidence.

She has been my best friend and advocate 42 years - long live women like my wife and Sarah Palin.

Palin vs Obama Experience

Democrats are saying Palin doesn't even have experience as a 'Community Organizer' like Marxist Obama did, she wasn't even taught by Communist Saul Alinski.

Democrats are saying Palin may have executive experience but Obama has speeches.

Democrats are saying Palin probably had a 'typical white' grandmother.

Democrats are saying Palin never left her babies to die in a 'Dirty Linen' closet like Obama has fought so hard for - how can she understand the 'Obama Hope'?

Democrats are saying Palin was never 'Mentored' by 'God Damn America' black racist Jeremiah Wright - how can she understand the plight of the ordinary black American?

Democrats are saying Palin is a Capitalist and was never trained by Marxists like Obama - how can she bring the 'Obama Change' to America?

Democrats are saying Palin never voted present 129 times - how can she bring the political experience Obama has to the White House?

Democrats are saying Palin doesn't understand the 'Bitter Clingers' like Obama - the typical whites who cling to 'God and Guns'.

Democrats are saying Palin doesn't even have 'Cult Followers like Obama, who believe Obama is the messiah and will heal the world.

Democrats are saying Palin has a husband who has always been proud of America, how can she understand those like Michelle Obama who was never proud of America.

Democrats are saying Palin thinks babies are wonderful how could she understand the 'Baby Mistakes' Obama talks about.

Democrats are saying Palin has worked at real jobs, how could she understand the plight of Obama who has never had a 'real job'.

Democrats are saying Palin might bring real values to America not the phony ones they believe in - Democrats are afraid!

Goat probably subscribes
to the popular myth that Jerry Falwell was a mean-spirited Bible-thumping fanatic.

My dad (a nominal Hindu, who manages to come up with really complex philosophical arguments to defend his untenable positions) actually attended Columbia U at the same time that Falwell did, and remembers having casual discussions with him--and states that he was actually mild-mannered and devout, not a "Bible-thumper".

Bee-atches, Heart-less and Otherwise

The hysterical howling of the Leftie Losers shows exactly what a perfect pick Sarah Barracuda was for the Repub ticket.

Not only is Ariana Banana Huffington huffing and puffing over the nomination of Palin, but the rock-n-Roll has-been Heart turned heartless, and has filed a cease-and-desist lawsuit against the McCain/Palin campaign to stop them from using the song "Barracuda" to introduce Sarah Barracuda.

Now, the OBlahBlah/Biden-Bidet campaign is sending out the attack Bee-atches to counter the Palin appointment, with the Shrillster herself leading the charge. Too late OBlahBlah, the gennie is already out of the bottle: you already reject the ultimate Bee-atch, and everyone is wise to you and your machinations.

Besides, the high-pitched barking of Shrillary is no match for a Pitt Bull with lipstick!

Get Used To This Stuff
Folks, we are going to be dealing with these types of Smear Tactics aimed directly at Gov. Palin from the supposed 'Elites' of BIG Media until November 5th. Then they'll start in on the McCain/Palin administration right away (why wait till January?).

Do not be discouraged.
If John McCain can take 5 years of imprisonment & torture...
If Sarah Palin can take 4 months of darkness & bitter cold every year...
Then surely we can take a few months of the BIASED REPORTING of BIG Media Elites.

For the Sake of OUR CHILDREN & the Well Being of OUR COUNTRY we must make the Dem-Libs & ALL of their allies rue the day they riled us up.

THEY CANNOT BREAK OUR RESOLVE!!

Her response "They believe they can govern. And so you know it's up to the media to look at her experience and do whatever they have to do in order to... and the Obama campaign, to convince the voters that they can't."

This is insane - it's up to the media to convince voters a candidate can't govern??? Unfreakinreal

Palin: experience we can believe in

YES WE CAN
YES WE CAN

Palin has an incredible record of achievement and excellent executive decisions:

the best: she PUT O FORCE ONE on Ebay

Obama went out and bought the biggest and most expensice private jet: removed the flag, named it "O" FORCE ONE::: engraved President Obama on the executive leather chair:

SHE has more experience in one day than Obama has in 2 years of spending 1/2 billion to run his sleaze and slime campaign

SHE put O FORCE ONE ON EBAY!

Palin put the state private jet on ebay: to save the taxpayers money:

OBAMA got the biggest he could find, removed the US flag, engraved President Obama on the leather executive seat: !!!

WHO has the "BETTER" executive experience, judgment, guts, courage,

S. Palin
Mom and apple pie. A heart beat away from the White House. WOW!!!

"slashing" funding
this is the absolute prototype of the liberals and virtually schools. They propose a huge increase, then scream about budget cuts when you "Slash" them to only an inflation plus growth plus 10% increase. Minnesota school districts will all scream about budget cuts every year forever. yet if you look at their spending per pupil, adjusted for inflation, they have NEVER had less to spend. They have dramatically increased the cost and number of union jobs (teachers and support "professionals") so they can slash athletics or music

Unless I missed something, there is absolutely nothing unscriptural about what I saw in Sarah Palin's church service videos.

I can give you scripture after scripture that supports praying for one another. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 says to pray without ceasing, meaning being prayerful-minded, always ready to pray.

Sarah and her pastors are being obedient to the word of God which is the Bible. God tells us to pray for all people and Sarah has probably prayed for you Goat, as she prayed for America. Someone probably prayed that someday you would hear some truth about this very thing. Thank you Goat for passing this on.

I understand Sarah better, and now know why I connected with her so much, so quickly. She mentioned being the head and not the tail. Deuteronomy 28:13 says those obedient to God are the head and not the tail. She knows her Bible, so watch who you mess with.

Don't even try it, Jeremiah Wright is no comparison. God tells us to pray for America, not "D" it.

Dear smells like a goat:
For folks like you, the words "religious freak" are redundant. You think anyone who has a mustard seed of faith is trying to create a theocracy. George W. Bush is a man of much advertised faith; did he try or succeed in making his Methodism the mandatory religion of the land?

But my friend, you're kind of folks always were, are now, and please God (if you'll pardon the expression) always be a tiny minority in this country. I'll bet you live in or near Austin. They have stinkin thinkin there, like Cambridge, MA, San Francisco CA, NY, NY, and the tonier parts of CT and NJ. Other than those blighted Enlightenment-indoctrinated, hyper-secularist covens, who happen to control our universities and the MSM, most of the rest of the country is more like Gov. Palin than you and Richard Dawkins and Sam Harris etc.

But you can't believe this, because you don't know anyone like Sarah, or most TH readers.

Like the NY columnist who couldn't understand how Nixon defeated McGovern 49-1; none of her friends voted for Nixon.

Thanks, Throckie,
one of the clearest, most factual, less ideological columns i've ever read on TH

You keep telling it like it is!

I am sick to death of the lies the media foist upon us and the smears of the left.

'Subject: How about "Palin, the Religious Freak?"
I'm a lot more worried about her Biblical hysteria than any line-item budget veto. Your girl is a small step away from speaking in tongue and bitting the heads off of snakes.'

Scared of Sarah, huh?

Washington Post
The media will intentionally select only those parts of information that is sensational. This of course is done to raise their ratings. Almost all journalists need sensationalism to satisfy their own need for praise and attention.
By being selective and very careful, it also keeps them from getting sued.

Pet Goat
I have some differences with The Assemblies of God in doctrine and such, but I will say this. I now know why VP Palin elicits such fear in people like you. It is not so much her, as it is the God she believes in. And you should fear. HE is worthy of fear. And praise and worship and obedience.

Pet Goat
Thank you for the link. It was awesome! WOW! What a woman. I like her more than I did yesterday.

Good Post Matthew
"The liberal media elite have finally been defeated. I can't help but see God's hand here."

The MSM is no longer a credible news entity....and Providence is more than just a city in Rhode Island.

"Hurricane" Sarah
She has single-handedly ressucitated the Republican party and fired up conservatives to a level unseen since Pres. Reagan's days.
Liberals, mainstream media, democrats, feminazis and such have been behaving like cockroaches caught in sudden lights - scurrying for cover! The more they attack the worse they look, it must be truly frustrating...

Palin scares the left as she is
the Am. dream.

A great Am. myth is anyone can grow up to be pres. And she did it from the local level up, without having to leave her church, while having a family, while not bumping off inconvenient pregnancies, while hunting and fishing, while fighting the bad guys even in her own party in AL, and showing she's a complete grown up who knows we can't have a secure country without domestic energy production.

The left has spent decades pretending it's promising the Am. dream to the lower middle class and poor through tax giveawys and credits and class warfare against corps. and *the rich.*

Palin shows you don't need the left to GIVE YOU someone else' money but that you can succeed yourself. And actullay do something in the process, unlike teh Great O who's written two bio/memoirs about his feelings and has managed to do almost nothing else with his life.

Understanding Alaska's budgeting
Our legislature, like so many in recent years, doesn't seem to get the concept of fiscal responsibility. Under Frank Murkowski, they'd gotten used to spending a great deal of money on "stuff" we didn't need. I don't think Frank ever used his line-item veto pen.

Sarah beat him because she promised to make use of that pen (soon as she found it where he buried it in a potted plant). So the legislature decided that Covenant House needed this huge increase in its budget. Sarah apparently agreed that an increase was legitimate. CHA does really good work in Anchorage. However, Sarah no doubt looked at what CHA had received in the past, perhaps even called the director, Deirdre Cronin, (whom I met recently at a social work gathering here in Fairbanks) and found out that they didn't need that much money, so she trimmed the budget. An interesting aspect of Alaska State grants is that if you don't use all of it in a given year, you probably won't get another one, even a smaller one, for a long, long time, so Sarah was acting responsibly to this program, as she has acted toward other programs within the state. Some things do need to be funded for the general public good, but not everything and not always to the level our legislators might think appropriate. That's why the governor has a line-item veto pen.

Again
The Left and its media outlets have been screaming this with near-impunity for my entire adult life -- any reduction in the acceleration of spending for favored programs is a cut. Those attacking Palin are a bit more desperate than usual, for they rightly believe that her addition to the ticket greatly improves McCain's chances of winning. But it's the same old crap.

My Pet Goat: 1. Your bigotry is showing. 2. Fundamentalists don't bite the heads off snakes. You're thinking of Ozzie Osbourne.

Goat
What religious hysteria? Sorry, fellow, but you've never met Sarah Palin while I have. In fact, one of my closest friends room-shares with her husband at BP. I'm not sure about the speaking in tongues (she's Assembly of God, sometimes they do), but Alaska has no snakes, so there'd not be a lot of snake-head biting. Going to church does not make one a fanatic! Making statements like you mad -- well, now...

Goat...
Speaking in tongues is not quite the same as saying only blacks can be Christians and that whites are evil. That is what black liberation theology teaches. While you may not agree with her religion, it at least teaches peace and forgiveness, Wright's religions teaches racism and hate.

Goat
So you think a person's religion should disqualify him/her from public office? Tell that to the Muslims.

How about "Palin, the Religious Freak?"
I'm a lot more worried about her Biblical hysteria than any line-item budget veto. Your girl is a small step away from speaking in tongue and bitting the heads off of snakes.

And you people thought Jerimiah Wright was bad?

David
I think you are absolutely correct. I hope that this is the last hurrah for the propaganda marionettes because I think they are a danger to the Republic.

Palin is on the side of Truth
The liberal media elite have finally been defeated. I can't help but see God's hand here. Palin was brought here to finally bring us back to the Reagen principals: small government, no abortions, the best military ever. McCain is paving the way for Palin who has shown the socialist media snobs who look down at everyday Americans, have no place anymore to hide except to drink their lattes and eat vegetables.

Thank you, Mr. Throckmorton...
...for providing the facts yet another example of hysterical hyperbole from our reliably reprehensible media hyenas.

Fuel for the Agenda
I used to the think that the news media were at best unconscious of their bias or at worst just stupid and lazy. During the past week of scurilous and unrelenting attacks on Governor Palin it is apparent they are well aware how much they are twisting the facts. But the end justifies the means. Now they are fighting for their lives and pulling out all the stops. They have realized that Sarah Palin delegitimizes the entire foundation of liberal philosophy. People don't have to be driven by guilt. But it is almost certainly too late for them to stop the revelation from spreading that the emperor has no cloths.
