Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Random thoughts on the passing scene:

I am so old that I can remember when music was musical.

Now that the federal government says that it will stand behind the warranties on General Motors' automobiles, does that make you more likely or less likely to buy a car from GM? If you were a rising young executive with a promising future, would you be more likely or less likely to go to work for a company where politicians can fire you?

We have become such suckers for words that politicians can spend our tax money like a drunken sailor, provided they call it "investment." At least the drunken sailor is spending his own money but people look down on him because he doesn't call it "investment."

Barack Obama seems determined to repeat every disastrous mistake of the 1930s, at home and abroad. He has already repeated Herbert Hoover's policy of raising taxes on high income earners, FDR's policy of trying to micro-manage the economy and Neville Chamberlain's policy of seeking dialogues with hostile nations while downplaying the dangers they represent.

We seem to be moving steadily in the direction of a society where no one is responsible for what he himself did but we are all responsible for what somebody else did, either in the present or in the past.

The famous editorial cartoonist Herblock could write as well as draw. In one of his books, he said something like: "You too can have the soothing feeling of nature's own baby-soft wool being pulled gently over your resting eyes." I think of that every time I see Barack Obama talking.

It has long been said that uncertainty is the hardest thing for a market to adjust to. No one can generate uncertainty as much as the government, which can change the rules in midstream or come out with some new bright idea at any time, as the current administration has already demonstrated.

We have now reached the truly dangerous point where we cannot even be warned about the lethal, fanatical and suicidal hatred of our society by Islamic extremists, because to do so would be politically incorrect and, in some European countries, would be a violation of the law against inciting hostility to groups.

Perhaps the scariest aspect of our times is how many people think in talking points, rather than in terms of real world consequences.

Barack Obama's favorable reception during his tour in Europe may be the most enthusiastic international acclaim for a democratic government leader since Neville Chamberlain returned from Munich in 1938, proclaiming "peace in our time."

How a man who holds the entire population of a country as his prisoners, and punishes the families of those who escape, can be admired by people who call themselves liberals is one of the many wonders of the human mind's ability to rationalize. Yet such is the case with Fidel Castro.

What does "economic justice" mean, except that you want something that someone else produced, without having to produce anything yourself in return?

Perhaps the way President Obama will reduce the deficit is by making more presidential appointments of people who will pay the back taxes they owe, in order to get confirmed by the Senate.

Liberals seem to think that they are doing lagging groups a favor by making excuses for counterproductive and self-destructive behavior. The poor do not need press agents. They need the truth. No one ever said, "Press agents will make you free."

If I were Secretary of the Treasury Timothy Geithner, I would not sign any long-term lease on a home in Washington.

Socialists believe in government ownership of the means of production. Fascists believed in government control of privately owned businesses, which is much more the style of this government. That way, politicians can intervene whenever they feel like it and then, when their interventions turn out badly, summon executives from the private sector before Congress and denounce them on nationwide television.

Military
JM051 -
Our military is the best in the world, not because of government but depite the government. The Democrats tear it down and the Republicans build it back up, but it's the character of it's membership, not the character of government that attributes to it's greatness!

Don't vote for these idiots!
The only way to get rid of these political criminals is by not voting for them.

Thank you Dr Sowell
Very very good article.

Heather:

I will still ask the ? others here have asked and you have not answered, "can you explain, EXACTLY, how it is possible to spend one's way out of deficits and borrow one's way out of debt?"

The left screamed at Bush for allowing our country to go further into debt. Now the same folks are all to happy to see the biggest deficit spending ever. I guess it is ok because as long as it is their ideals we go into debt for, it is just fine.

I screamed at Bush for his abandonment of Constitutional principles and I will be screaming at Obama for his obvious contempt for the Constitution. If Bush was bad, Obama is a million, make that a trillion, times worse.

The same sex marriage debate is not about hatred or fear of homosexuals, it is about redefining how men and women are viewed. The traditional view of marriage has sustained all societies for centuries, and now we have the hubris to say that they were all wrong?

Same sex marriage does not affect my marriage, but it sure as hell will affect my children's outlook on how men and women function in society. That will have long term unintended consequences.

WOW
So many hate religion, hate war, hate-America, Americans!
What's happened to the country I was raised in and loved?

American Enemy #1
For you starry-eyed Obama Worshipers:

Obama is America's Number One Enemy. Do not forget that, and you will be able to get the dirt out of your eyes, and the cotton out of your ears, and begin to see reality.

Denise
Perhaps President Obama wishes to avoid the debacle like the one President Reagan caused back in 1985.

and President Obama is going to mark the anniversary of D-Day on June 6 with President Sarkozy. So, yours is a non-story, born of the Obama Derangement Syndrome, where east is west, north is south, inside is outside, alternate universe.

re: MyOpine, cont.
quote: "POST LINKS to support your assertions that Christians hate Gays or anyone else."

Seriously? Go read the discussion on any thread dealing with gay marriage. It is wrong to paint with too broad of a brush and say that "Christians hate gays", but there are plenty of them that do, and they post regularly on TH unfortunately.

re: MyOpine
quote: "McCain lost because he could not carry the Republican Base."

Wrong. He didn't carry ANY major demographic, other than people aged 65+. And the so-called "Republican Base" is shrinking, not growing. The Karl Rove strategy of simply motivating the base is not a prescription for future success, you have to grow the party.

A good Thought

Roosevelt said, "There is nothing to Fear but Fear itself."

Obama said, "There is nothing to Change but Change itself."

I said, "We have no need for Fear or Change, we need IMPROVEMENT."

History repeats itself
History is repeticious especially when we forget the lessons that should be learned from past mistakes and such it is now.
Sadly our government and leaders and those of us who supported these idiots are repeating the same mistakes from the past.
Hopefully it won't lead to the destruction it did in the past because this time the destruction may very well be even worse. We've already given up our moral values to "The One" the messiah of the left, another anti-Christ who promises gratification of the altar of evils with abortion, alternative lifestyles and Big Government and destruction of Christian, family and conservative values.
This person who calls himself Christian is anything but a Christian.

Dr. Sowell hits the mark. (as usual)
This is like shooting fish in a barrel.

"Economist" having doubts
Even the left leaning UK magazine is having doubts:

Oct 30th 2008
{America should take a chance and make Barack Obama the next leader of the free world.
The Economist does not have a vote, but if it did, it would cast it for Mr Obama. We do so wholeheartedly: the Democratic candidate has clearly shown that he offers the better chance of restoring America’s self-confidence. But we acknowledge it is a gamble. Given Mr Obama’s inexperience, the lack of clarity about some of his beliefs and the prospect of a stridently Democratic Congress, voting for him is a risk. Yet it is one America should take, given the steep road ahead.
Our main doubts about Mr Obama have to do with the damage a muddle-headed Democratic Congress might try to do to the economy.}

{Barack Obama may at last be getting a grip. But he still needs to show more leadership, at home and abroad..the Oval Office is no place for on-the-job training. His performance has been weaker than those who endorsed his candidacy, including this newspaper, had hoped. Many of his strongest supporters—liberal columnists, prominent donors, Democratic Party stalwarts—have started to question him. As for those not so beholden, polls show that independent voters again prefer Republicans to Democrats, a startling reversal of fortune in just a few weeks.

Lead, dammit

There are some signs that Mr Obama’s administration is learning.}

POS-In-Chief
Do you suppose Obama could have visited at least one American war dead cemetery while in France, especially since this is his first trip there as President? I guess it doesn't fit in well with his agenda of apologizing for American "arrogance."

But it's even worse than my friend suggested. In fact, Barack Hussein Obama was urged by French President Nicholas Sarkozy to visit the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial, where American soldiers who gave their lives in WWII's invasion at Normandy are buried. But he declined so as not to offend Germany and Britain. HUH?

Yes, he's now so worried what the walking-dead Europeans think that an American President won't visit the graves of those who gave their lives for America (and, I might add, for Germany and Britain--without us, they might not be here).

French officials and senior American military officers walked with White House staff through the cemetery discussing how the two presidents might follow the same route. But even before their trip, the White House had decided that Mr Obama would not travel there this week.

"It wasn't going to happen," said an American official in Washington. "We went through the motions to placate President Sarkozy but giving special treatment to France was not on our agenda.

Confusion of Words
Confusion of Words
For most of us the English language serves as a roadmap for our life. We depend on our vast collection of words, their definition and direction. But, recently it is obvious that our leaders use the English language in a somewhat foreign context; what they say is seldom what they really mean…
There are many examples of this misuse of the English language, in fact we’re handed doses of it daily! In a recent news conference our President in defense of his budget suggests that our Nation will be transformed from a Nation that is borrowing and spending to an America who will be known for investing and saving.
Here’s where the English language has tripped us up; what our President is saying isn’t what he means. The 9.3 trillion budget package will literally be the largest borrowing and spending bill that the US has encountered. Maybe he was giving the “middle class” a specific directive to start saving and investing, because the government has the borrowing and spending under their belt.
The national debt will double in six years and triple in ten years. So remember words aren’t the problem here – it’s the people who misuse them. As Always, Annie

MyOpine...

Yes, I wonder if the Leftist Press (actually I'm certain) prompts copy-cat killings and other crimes. "Road-Rage" is a good example of media stoking fear and chaos in the reckless hunt for ratings.

I read NY killer Jiverly's letter to the Local News. Obviously this fella was psychotic beyond repair. In his old Country, he would have "accidentally" been shoved off the nearest cliff.

The PA cop-killer seemed to be missing a Father? And Momma didn't mind her son stocking her home with munitions, all the while talking like a lunatic. Hmmm? Sounds like the turd was enabled by Liberal Family values more than anything else.

Stronger than disapproval

"Conservatives more "disapprove of" someone or something, but unlike what the liberals would like to believe, Conservatives are not about hate." quote

I don't disagree with you often, but I HATE those who wizz on the constitution as if Madison, Jefferson, Washington, Hamilton, and company were their intellectual inferiors. These folks are fools who will get us all killed, or even worse, destroy our liberty.

They are like someone who screams as his peers hide from the enemy. These peers should strangle him out of self preservation!

Democrats are ruining the country and never realize it. They'll wonder what happened when the next muslim attack destroys part of their city and no one comes to help or sends money. They'll want to stand in front of the Capital and sing GOD Bless America when they always try to take God out of every display or aspect of life here. We're not going to let you next time. We are at war with those who commit terrorism contrary to Barack's claim. Those who commit global terror acts are muslims. Barack Obama is a fool.

Don't Cry For Us, Amerika!!! - I

While the American media paints Barack Obama’s European tour as a balm on strained relations with EU allies, Europeans have a much different reaction to Obama today. After Obama endorsed Turkey’s bid to enter the EU, the Continental grumbling has broken through in the media — and the political class. Der Spiegel reports that German and French officials have begun complaining about Obama’s arrogance in injecting himself into a European decision, including French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

Once again, this is what happens when we elect a head of state with no experience in foreign policy, and an apparent lack of curiosity about policies and issues. Even a moderately interested observer of EU politics would know that Turkey’s membership application has generated a lot of resistance and controversy. A well-informed head of state would realize that the kind of declaration given by Obama would likely damage those prospects, as it would represent a challenge for the EU to show some autonomy from the US.

You mean my in-laws voted for a Trilogy?

Hi Guys

Had Sunday off this weekend so I thought I would find some good links to the Leftist viewpoint.
I started at DailyKos.
The subject under discussion was placing blame on Republicans for the cop shootings.
Same at Huffington & crooksandliars
I read a total of 366 comments before I became too disgusted to read any more.
The general consensus is that the shootings were Glen Beck's fault.
Next in line was the NRA, then Rush Limbaugh, then despondency over their paranoia of Obama confiscating guns.
There was not a single person who rationalized that they did it for notorioty.
To "Go out in a flash of glory" on World wide news!
Do you think any of them would have killed any policemen if there would be no pictures of them or mention of their name by MSM?
If there was no personal fame to be had, would they have killed those people anyway?
If they can keep a rape victim's face & name off the news, why can't they do the same with a mass murder?

I did collect some hilarious links,,BUT!
I also collected 188 tracking cookies and a bunch of other crap I won't subject you to either.
I now understand why Trolls are reluctant to click on our links. Their sites are full of ugly crap!

MyOpine... Oh yes, maybe

Liberals love a good facade. So much so, they elected one.

What turds!

I think you are correct about Sophie AKA Heather.

I noticed the Leftist tap dancing from subject to subject.

I strongly suspect we have been entertained by Sophie.

An Ode To Pensioners Everywhere

I cross ocean,
poor and broke,
Take bus,
see employment folk.

Nice man treat me
good in there,
Say I need to
see welfare.

Welfare say,
'You come no more,
We send cash
right to your door.'

Welfare checks,
they make you wealthy,
Medicaid it keep
you healthy!

By and by,
I get plenty money,
Thanks to you,
American dummy.

Write to friends
in motherland,
Tell them 'come
fast as you can.'

They come in turbans
and Ford trucks,
I buy big house
with welfare bucks

They come here,
we live together,
More welfare checks,
it gets better!

Fourteen families,
they moving in,
But neighbor's patience
wearing thin.

Finally, white guy
moves away,
Now I buy his house,
and then I say,
'Find more aliens
for house to rent.'
And in the yard
I put a tent.

Send for family
they just trash,
But they, too,
draw the welfare cash!

Everything is
very good,
And soon we
own the neighborhood.

We have hobby
it's called breeding,
Welfare pay
for baby feeding.

Kid's need dentist?
Wife's need pills?
We get free!
We got no bills!

American's crazy!
He pay all year,
To keep welfare
running here.

We think America
darn good place!
Too darn good for
the white man race.

If they no like us,
they can scram,
Got lots of room in Pakistan .

It is interesting that the federal government provides a single refugee with a monthly allowance of $1,890.00 and each can also get an additional $580.00 in social assistance for a total of $2,470.00 .

This compares very well to a single pensioner who after contributing to the growth and development of America for 40 to 50 years can only receive a monthly maximum of $1,012.00 in old age pension and Guaranteed Income Supplement.

Maybe our pensioners should apply as refugees!

MyOpine... Danger, slippery when wet!

You silly Gays can ignore reality here in America and still live.
Christians simply do not want you to defile their religious Rite with your extroverted perversion.
None of them wish you physical harm.

Since you think Muslims are more tolerant;
Try going to Iran and demanding to be honored by the Muslim Marriage Rites.
They might even ship your head back in the same box that contains your tortured, dismembered body.

Myopine
But we are at war with "Radical Islam"? Who defines that? Big Satan/Little Satan...who cares what they call anyone. Satan isn't real, whether Iran calls it that or Christians do.

Christians who post here (read their nonsense) demonstrate how they hate gay people. One will even divorce his wife if gays can marry in his state. That isn't out of love. Nitey nite.

Dr. Sowell, I salute thee...
'Well said, and dramatically right on target. President Hussein Obama is not so much a Muslim sympathizer (an' why not? - he's livin' th' "Dreams of (his) father"...)nor a socialist, but a fascist... He's looking much more like a one-termer than Jimmy Carter did when he was three years into his four-year gig as leader of the free world. I suppose we're gonna have to retire that time-honored phrase that refers to the American president, as he is making certain that whatever it is that he may be the leader of, it won't much resemble 'the free world.' He's doing th' Neville Chamberlain dance on the graves of those brave souls who fought and died for the freedoms of the country of which he is now president. Does he care?
I just hope he's a one-termer, and so reviled by a disappointed American public that the entire party that he represents is voted out of office, for incompetence and malfeasance. Perhaps in only a single term, he cannot do so much damage that most of it might be undone with some people with smarts, and that's what we need to elect, some people who are smart, and who are not tax-cheats and tax-dodgers, and who make sure no one can find their legitimate birth ciertificate, nor any transcript of their college grades...The vetting crisis is very widespread...the public and the press failed to vet the next president in 2008, and look what we got. The new president failed to vet his candidates for appointment to the cabinet and inner circle of nodding worshipers, and look what we got... We need to impeach all that we can, and throw the rest of them out on their ear.

Heather

AND, If you are really as ignorant of the ME war as you claim and don't know Islamists call Israel "The Little Satan" and America "The Big Satan" then you don't know enough about the ME war to make an intelligent comment on the subject!

You haven't shown much knowledge of anything else today either!

Heather THE DAMNED LIAR!

I NEVER STATED WE WERE AT WAR WITH ISLAM!
THAT IS PURE VERBAL MASTURBATION ON YOUR PART.

Perhaps you are too stupid to differentiate between Radical Islamists and The Muslim religion as an entity.

Japan in the 1990's, and the US in the 1930's (spending at least); the spending on WW2 was spending, whether we like it or not. I wasn't vague, Myopine, I explained how propping up one area of the economy leads to increased earnings, which are spent on others, etc. The 1950's were very successful here in the states; 91% top tax bracket.

What have I said, btw, that is anything close to emotional?

My opine
Where did I say that I don't believe the " American way of life is worth fighting to defend?" Of course it is. I'm not weak, either. Was President Reagan weak in Lebanon?

I don't think we are in a war against Islam. It is far more complex than that. We supported Bin Laden in Afghanistan against the Soviets, then we supported Hussein against Iran. Sorry, but when we take and switch sides, explain to me why that's ok?

You really have more in common with those Taliban types than you will admit. You and they share that view of 'decadence'. That's
scarier from my pov.

War on Islam? No, it isn't. I know many American muslims. Are you goint to intern them like we did the Japanese in WW2? Will you require loyalty oaths? What if the price of the 'war' cause a $trillion deficit? That deficit ok with you, even if our kids and grandkids are saddled with that debt?

Who is the "Small Satan" and who is the a"Big Satan"? Do you really think in those terms? Do you really see Islamic theology as more troubling than Christian? Do you really think that if Christians ran this country, with their hate towards gay people and anyone they consider 'deviant', would be more kind than Sharia law proponents?

Bravo, Professor Sowell!
Once again, your witticisms have brought a smile to my face, in spite of today's discouraging headlines... Thank you!!!

Heather

"But to the point you asked...as I understand it (and I did not major in economics), economists believe that deficit spending can slow down, even end, a recession. That is certainly what Pres. Obama's people are suggesting. I haven't heard a viable counterargument from the right."

Here's as viable a countrargument as the vague argument you just posted.

Economists believe (including Dr, Sowell) that massive deficit spending, increasing taxes, borrowing trillions from foreign countries, passing sweeping new entitlements, inflicting crushing regulations on business and adding trillions a year to the national debt (now up to nearly $60 trillion when taking into account the unfunded entitlements) will not only extend the recession, but will lead to hyperinflation and the eventual collapse of the dollar.

"Did you make these arguments when the deficit under Pres. Reagan was huge?

Yes, absolutely. I railed against it with Bush one and two also, and praised Clinton for his attempt at reining in deficit spending.

"I only ask because of Groucho's song...no matter what Pres. Obama suggests or implements, just like the left did with Pres. Bush, you will be against it."

I'm against idiocy no matter who it is. And people like you who not only can't make any more sense of Obama's insane fiscal policies than I can, still, on faith, think it'll work.

For somebody who isn't emotional, you sure are emotional.

Heather
Name one country that has spent or taxed it's way into prosperity. Thanks.

Denise
great discussion.

DOMA impacts interstate commerce because it impacts on how people can move or not move. We want people to be able to move around the country. DOMA impacts on that movement. The Full faith and credit clause was designed to ensure that citizens would be able to travel freely throughout the US without worrying that their settled rights would be left at the state line. The purpose of ensuring freedom of movement of persons and goods throughout the states is evidenced elsewhere in the Constitution, as well. It's obvious that freedom of interstate travel and migration is burdened by the DOMA.

I don't know what you mean about President Obama, but if our economy is in the tank, we have less to spend on national defense, and thanks to President Bush's China interaction (and President Clinton) we owe China so much, that hurts us too.

Heather
So you don't believe the American way of life is worth fighting to defend?

Weak people like you invited the series of attacks adding up to 9/11 forcing America into this ancient cultural war. Weak people our enemies see as decadent cowards lacking in morals. Weak people who whimper and cry and lack the courage to sustain a prolonged war.

These same weak whimpering people continue to assure our enemies that Americans will soon capitulate.
Our enemies use these public displays of weakness to entice recruits to join their cause and gain favor in the eyes of Allah by helping to cleanse the World of unbelievers.

So you don't like this war with Radical Islam? It costs too much? What price tag do you put on the freedom of your children & grandchildren?
Is this too much?
http://www.frontpagemag.com/Articles/Read.aspx?GUID=913809C 9-A26E-4E20-AE27-46F92B034739

What alternative do you have to offer Americans?
Allow the Small Satan to fall and surrender the Big Satan?
Surrender and live as slaves in a theological Caliphate under Sharia law?

If as usual, you are ignorant of the issue you commented on, this site will bring you up to date.
http://www.apathetic-usa.com

well. other than people like Sen. McCain
I don't recall very many conservatives complaining about the $10 billion we have been spending (deficit creating) in Iraq or on national defense. In fact, I see that many here are upset by Pres. Obama and Secty. Gates' decision to reallocate defense spending, I guess they would prefer to continue deficit spending on what they think is important.

But to the point you asked...as I understand it (and I did not major in economics), economists believe that deficit spending can slow down, even end, a recession. That is certainly what Pres. Obama's people are suggesting. I haven't heard a viable counterargument from the right.
Because we have high unemployment right now (we can argue about the causes, suffice it to say that there were many contributors), when the government spends, it substitutes its purchasing for that of those who are not employed and thus not spending. That, theoretically at least, keeps businesses afloat, keeps those workers working, creating income for those workers, who then buy stuff, and more workers spend, etc. Some save, some invest, it generally takes what is a stagnant situation and makes it more dynamic. Did you make these arguments when the deficit under Pres. Reagan was huge? I only ask because of Groucho's song...no matter what Pres. Obama suggests or implements, just like the left did with Pres. Bush, you will be against it.

"We can't run a government on ideology"
What do you think Obama is trying to do now?

McCain an honorable man?
MCCAIN IS THE MOST HATED MAN IN THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!
McCain lost because he could not carry the Republican Base.
MSM, ACORN and crossover Democrats put McCain on the Republican ticket as a straw man because they knew he did not have a chance of winning.

I could not vote for McCain.
If you do some asking you will discover very few Conservatives could be forced to vote for that SNAKE!

So you see how little you DEMOCRATS know about Republicans?

And it amuses us when you display your fear of a Republican figure.
Do you have a snide remark to make about Rush Limbaugh or Glen Beck?
Come on, give us a good laugh!

"and in national disasters, the Feds (at least under Bush, after 2004) doesn't do that job very well."

Of course, he was aided when 30% of the Federal money ($70bn) was pocket by state and local politicians, their friends and cronies. All Democrats and not friendly to "Heckva job, Brownie, Bush.

"My son is an attorney"

Congratulations. I will celebrate my 17th year in May.

"and I know in law school they have separate classes for many of these legal areas because interstate commerce"

Of course, they do because each is a different branch of the law. We studied the Cont., ConCrimPro., Crim, among other areas in 1L.

"for example, addresses more than just whether I can ship wine to you in Nola."

And, whose fault is that? We have ceded too much authority to too few governments.

"The tax and other issues are not really open to debate anymore."

We'll see. In an effort to stop our current deflation, Ben Bernanke and the Federal Reserve are PRINTING money. How many will be willing to sign on to the crueless form of child abuse, inflation and debt?

"And while I don't want to tax any one group, why not tax cigs and dope and all that bad conduct?"

Didn't you get the April Fool's Day memo that stated the Feds were increasing cigarette taxes by another $.67 per pack so as to pay for S-Chip?

"Have you seen the taxes on booze?"

No, but only because I abstain from alcohol altogether.

"I thought we designated where we are from, and being proud of my city, I thought you said you were from LA. I've only been to NOLA once, before Katrina, nice town."

It was and is trying to recover thanks in no part to the Mayor and City Hall, who are under current Federal investigation.

"The problem I see with your philosophy (Federal govt. should use its Constitutional authority to defend the nation, control Interstate Commerce, and provide for national disasters) is that many of those things are not cut and dry."

And, how are they not? If you sell trocks electonically, then you are subject to Federal control. If you sells shares in an ant farm, you are subject to your own state's Blue Sky law.

"Our economic problems impact national defense"

And, more Federal spending for social programs and cuts in defense impact us in two ways: eventual inflation and a possible military incursion or terrorist act. Oh, wait. I meant made-made disaster perpuated by a MWH (Moslem with headache since Allah and Mohammed are two of the voices in his head.

"interstate commerce is impacted by things like DOMA"

How is marriage a product subject to interstate commerce? Perhaps, if a polygamist transports a bunch of teenage bride across state lines; i.e., sort of like a Mann-with many underaged brides-Act.

"I'm not a doctrinaire person. We can't run a government on ideology."

Well apparently you believe government can be run on idiocy.

An oldie from my blog "People"
Apologies to Jule Styne (Music) and Lyricist Bob Merrill)

Lib'ruls
People who are lib'ruls
Are the silliest people in the world
They're children, whining, crying children
Never trying to be adult
They'd rather pout and sulk
Acting just like numbskulls
Those lib'ruls.

Lib'ruls are just emoting people
They think all the world's problems
Started here.
Then they tell you, the solution is to tax you
Just see your paycheck and laugh
Once it was whole
Now it's half
You may hunger and thirst
But first pay the government your taxes
They just ignore the fact is
They fund the most wasteful programs
In the world!

They'll tell you brother, why don't you share with others?
Just see your paycheck and laugh
Once it was whole
Now it's half
For whatever it's worth
No mirth to be found among the lib'ruls

Oh those silly lib'ruls
Funding all their pet programs
With our dough!

Heather
Well, since you went to school and did very well, can you explain, EXACTLY, how it is possible to spend one's way out of deficits and borrow one's way out of debt?

We buffoons on TH can't seem to grasp the complexities of such convoluted thinking, but apparently you understand it. Please, oh please, enlighten us!!

My opine
I know that it bothers some of you that there are 'traitors' in the GOP, but I am still registered GOP and voted for Pres. Bush in 2000 and 2004. He was the best person both years for that position. Sen. McCain was the most qualified this year, until he named a highly unqualified person to pander to women and to the uneducated. I always vote, so I voted for the best person, Sen. now Pres. Obama.

I'm not a doctrinaire person. We can't run a government on ideology.

I rest my case
.

Mr. Geek and others
I am proud of my vote for President Obama. I would have been proud of President McCain, and, in all likelihood, he would have implemented similar plans. He is a good, honorable man. I re-read Dr. Sowell's comments, and it is clear to me that he is as frustrated as many on the far right seem to be. It is annoying when your point of view is being ignored. I know that here in California, I am angry and annoyed that the GOP legislators who said they would never raise taxes have been co-opted and are supporting big tax increases. But, I don't hate them or fear them. I am only one of many millions and my pov doesn't always win out.

I find it funny that my opinion is so offensive that you compare me to people I don't know. I'm not a strict anything, but I do know that nothing President Obama is doing is socialist, or fascist, or communist. I went to school, did very well, and I understand those concepts. It is sad that many here do not. It is also sad that if President Obama did not limit the pay of companies on the bail out list, you'd all (including Dr. Sowell) would cry out that Pres. Obama is protecting the rich.

Like the old Groucho Marx song...conservatives (like the Daily Kos people when Pres. Bush was in office) feel this way...

"I don't know what they have to say,
It makes no difference anyway,
Whatever it is, I'm against it.
No matter what it is or who commenced it,
I'm against it.

Your proposition may be good,
But let's have one thing understood,
Whatever it is, I'm against it.
And even when you've changed it or condensed it,
I'm against it.

I'm opposed to it,
On general principle, I'm opposed to it.

He's opposed to it.
In fact, indeed, that he's opposed to it!

For months before my son was born,
I used to yell from night to morn,
Whatever it is, I'm against it.
And I've kept yelling since I first commenced it,I'm against it!"

Covering all the bases?

The Lefties can even put a phony spin on Obama's - otherwise erratic - handwriting.

Seems they left out some of the important traits here, like: Materialistic, false-front, crushed social ego, underhandedness, and twisted thinking.

Can they be truthful about anything?

You are the one who is making excuses and hiding your head in the sand.
What YOU do or do not buy has nothing whatever to do with the reality you refuse to face.

Is there any political subject you are familiar with?
Can you make an original comment without quoting Communist political Propaganda?

We have heard all the Leftist propaganda here.
None of it is worth reading over & over.

Heather
You are a nut case, ya not know that?

Heather
"Vouchers mean nothing"

You are either stupid or ill informed, the voucher program that was just canceled in Washington DC that allowed low income children to attend the school of their choice had those children reading and comprehending after 2 years at a half grade level higher than their piers. Those results are typical of the few voucher programs operating now and the results are cumulative over the years.

My Guess
Heather is either Sophie or Sophie's sister!

(What do I win???)

Heather have you researched Obama?

Have I missed all of the successes Barack Obama has brought to America, or did you not respond?

Palin is a clown?
is that the c word? Or did you mean 'conservative', because so is McCain. Maybe not by the standards here at TH (which operates as though Ronald Reagan would be any different than McCain in 2009, which is unlikely because President Reagan was a pragmatist who supported the 1986 amnesty, for example). Palin is an opportunist. Not even her daughter listens to her.
