Ryan Compares Republican Party to his Irish Family Reunion

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) compared the state of the Republican Party to one of his Irish family reunions, full of backbiting and discord.

“It’s the Tea Party versus establishment — libertarians versus social conservatives. There’s infighting, conflict, backbiting, discord,” Ryan said at CPAC Thursday.

The internal dispute must give way to the more pressing matter of developing an agenda for the future of America, Ryan claimed.

The Left isn’t trying to solve problems, they are trying to prove a point—that they are in charge, Ryan claimed.

“Big government sounds good in theory, but it looks a lot different in practice. We are learning this the hard way.”

After five long years of running the country, all the Obama Administration has to show is the crummy Healthcare.gov website. The Left is out of touch with the needs of the American people.

“Right now the tax code is five times the size of the Bible with none of the good news,” Ryan said.

What conservatives have at heart, no matter what particular title they go by, is the good to the American people.

“Let the other party be the party of personalities, let us be the party of Ideas.”

The Left desires equal outcome for all, but what is even more rewarding is to create a country with equal opportunity. This is what America has always dreamed.

What the Left is offering people is a full stomach and an empty soul, Ryan explained. However, what individuals truly need is dignity and respect.

Ryan encouraged Americans to wrangle to conclusions.

“That’s how it always is: You fight it out. You figure out what works. You come together Then you win. It’s messy and noisy and even a little bit uncomfortable. But the center of gravity is shifting. We’re not just opposing a president. We’re developing an agenda.”
