Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

I've been trying to convince my fellow conservatives that they have been wasting their time in a fruitless quest for a new Ronald Reagan to emerge and lead our party and our nation. I insisted that we'd never see his like again because he was one of a kind.

I was wrong!

Wednesday night I watched the Republican National Convention on television and there, before my very eyes, I saw my Dad reborn; only this time he's a she.

And what a she!

In one blockbuster of a speech, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin resurrected my Dad's indomitable spirit and sent it soaring above the convention center, shooting shock waves through the cynical media's assigned spaces and electrifying the huge audience with the kind of inspiring rhetoric we haven't heard since my Dad left the scene.

This was Ronald Reagan at his best -- the same Ronald Reagan who made the address known now solely as "The Speech," which during the Goldwater campaign set the tone and the agenda for the rebirth of the traditional conservative movement that later sent him to the White House for eight years and revived the moribund GOP.

Last night was an extraordinary event. Widely seen beforehand as a make-or-break effort -- either an opportunity for Sarah Palin to show that she was the happy warrior that John McCain assured us she was, or a disaster that would dash McCain's presidential hopes and send her back to Alaska, sadder but wiser.

Obviously un-intimidated by either the savage onslaught to which the left-leaning media had subjected her, or the incredible challenge she faced -- and oozing with confidence -- she strode defiantly to the podium and proved she was everything and even more than John McCain told us.

Much has been made of the fact that she is a woman. What we saw last night, however, was something much more than a just a woman accomplishing something no Republican woman has ever achieved. What we saw was a red-blooded American with that rare, God-given ability to rally her dispirited fellow Republicans and take up the daunting task of leading them -- and all her fellow Americans -- on a pilgrimage to that shining city on the hill my father envisioned as our nation's real destination.

In a few words she managed to rip the mask from the faces of her Democratic rivals and reveal them for what they are -- a pair of old-fashioned liberals making promises that cannot be kept without bankrupting the nation and reducing most Americans to the status of mendicants begging for their daily bread at the feet of an all-powerful government.

Most important, by comparing her own stunning record of achievement with his, she showed Barack Obama for the sham that he is, a man without any solid accomplishments beyond conspicuous self-aggrandizement.

Like Ronald Reagan, Sarah Palin is one of us. She knows how most of us live because that's the way she lives. She shares our homespun values and our beliefs, and she glories in her status as a small-town woman who put her shoulder to the wheel and made life better for her neighbors.

Her astonishing rise up from the grass-roots, her total lack of self-importance, and her ordinary American values and modest lifestyle reveal her to be the kind of hard-working, optimistic, ordinary American who made this country the greatest, most powerful nation on the face of the earth.

As hard as you might try, you won't find that kind of plain-spoken, down-to-earth, self-reliant American in the upper ranks of the liberal-infested, elitist Democratic Party, or in the Obama campaign.

Sarah Palin didn't go to Harvard, or fiddle around in urban neighborhood leftist activism while engaging in opportunism within the ranks of one of the nation's most corrupt political machines, never challenging it and going along to get along, like Barack Obama.

Instead she took on the corrupt establishment in Alaska and beat it, rising to the governorship while bringing reforms to every level of government she served in on her way up the ladder.

Welcome back, Dad, even if you're wearing a dress and bearing children this time around.

About The Author
Michael Reagan, the eldest son of Ronald Reagan, is heard daily by over 5 million listeners via his nationally syndicated talk radio program, “The Michael Reagan Show.”
Michael
What a compliment for Sarah Palin coming from you. WOW! I really hope this gets to her. I thank you on her behalf because it is certainly the kind of thing that would be a great honor for years to come; a true honor. This acknowledgement coming from you should touch, not only Sarah, but MANY. Thank you Michael. WOW!!!!

Did You Ever Actually MEET Your Father?
Your father would not have displayed the same streak of nastiness and would not have attacked his opponent so viciously. Comparing him to Palin does him great dishonor.

Did you ever
While what you say may be true, He didn't have to re: Jimmy Carter
Re;Obama campaign
"People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones"
I wouldn't blame her one bit, all things considered.
Senater Obama is standing in front of a restless herd of elephants.
"I'm the NRA and I vote"

Reagan's Way With Words
I lived in the era of "The Speech" - I still remember it. And I heard President Reagan lay low the elitist wise-guys. He was no slouch. You must have a 'sanitized' memory of President Reagan. He had a kind sense of humor and worked well with people he disagreed with.

But he knew how and when to 'let em have it'! And Governor Palin also has the ability to say that the Democrat's 'Emperor' has no clothes!

God Bless
John Simon

Not yet, but maybe...
I actually teared up as I read this Michael, and I see where you are coming from; however your father stood up to ridicule and distain for years. I was a supporter of your father as early as 1976 and cried when he conceded to Ford. Sarah has adopted many of your fathers’ teachings and doctrine. I am amazed that John McCain found her but darn glad that he did. God bless you, and keep up the fight.

Democrats ought to be aware
of Ms. Palin when she wears no lipstick!

Bob Munck
NASTINESS? What Sarah has is strength. Nastiness is what the Libs have done to her and her daughter. Nasty is what I would have been, had they done that to me; and you would have recognized it.

Yes, Reagan is Back!
Palin has done something that none of the other republicans running this year could do, she brought us all back together.

She is US!
Sarah Palin knows what its like to run a business, a City, and a State, on top of that the lady can field dress a moose! (pretty easy on the eyes too) The liberals present us a "Community organizer" and the epitome of a "Washington Insider" and talk about change.

The GOP countered with a War Hero, and One of Us.
By picking Palin, McCain is offering the country REAL change, instead of the vague "Hope" offered by the dems.

Of course, the lefties will dismiss her because she didn't go to Harvard, never went to law school, My Goodness she's never even had an Abortion! how can she possibly understand the plight of women? (liberal women anyway)

The very points the dems are trying to use to tear down Gov. Palin are the very points that endear her to those of us in flyover country.

Yes Michael your dad is Back, in the form of the first female VP in history.

That giant sucking sound you hear is the Obama Coronation swirling around the drain.

LMAO! ©2008 Hal Drunkahue - Used without permission.

Michael: Beautifully said....

While listening to Gov. Palin's speech last night, I couldn't help but wish my mother (who passed away 25yrs. ago) had lived to see Gov. Palin deliver that speech.

And yes, it was Pres. Reagan who came to mind countless times during her speech!

We'll never have another Ronald Reagan, but what God has given us is Gov. Palin who has the same values, wit, humor, and defiance necessary to stand up against evil.

God is with us.

Did ya
notice Sarah's a redhead, about the color the Gippers was when younger?

Sophie HAHAHAHAHAAAAA! Stop pretending you
care about little Trig, you'd as soon as seen
him put in the back room with the dirty linen, just like your metrosexual Zeroman likes those
baby's surviving abortion..Carol Stanek's little guy she comforted because her cowardly parents, brave enough to terminate him, didn't have the guts to hold him til he died.

And don't sully the Gipper's good name pretending you admired him. TROLL!!!

Great! Already we have....

Boob Mook and smarmy-sophie tarnishing the thread with their hateful, inane posts.

Munck-y got a tummy ache?
Like Jesse Jackson's "severe stomach pains". Probably a case of acute Palinitis. Gosh, watch out, it could become chronic real soon.

Michael Regan, My hats off to you!
What a wonderful article
I'm sure your dad and mom are very proud.
Regan-esque was what I was saying after hearing Gov. Palin speak. I'm so thrilled that the GOP is back on track..McCain/Palin 2008 Palin/Jindal 2012

This is one for the Gipper and that's a fact

(BO stinks in politics or under the arm)

Isn't it great....
...for a change, to be an enthusiastic conservative?

The only greater joy is to see the libs with their shorts in a bunch. And a plus is to read on Malkin's site that Specter claims he's gettin' lonesome.

Poor Arlen.

Thanks Sophie the angry liberal...
If Michael Reagan can't make comparisons to his father, who in the hell can? Now I know that you libs are scared to death by a strong conservative, much less a woman, but you're going to have to warm up to the idea that Americans don't see the distorted view of this country as the lunatic liberals. The unhinged libs can't hide their anger and contempt for America, and patriotic Americans. Yours is just another example of the lib pathology.

The first thing that came to my mind after watching the speech, was the similarity in delivery to Reagan's. The second thing that came to mind was that it's over for Obama as it was for Jimma in 1980.

As I said in a post on a different
Thunder is good, thunder is impressive, but it is lightning that does the work.

As I posted in a different column...

"Thunder is good, thunder is impressive, but it is lightning that does the work." Mark Twain

Sarah Palin is lightening!

Touche
A liberal friend (libertarian really) of mine sent me a link to the already famous "it's over" line last night BEFORE Governor Palin's speech. I emailed him back to tell him I agreed, after that speech it IS over!
He emailed back with one word: Touche.
The inane posts by Bobbi and Sophie simply demonstrate their recognition that it is indeed over for the party of empty rhetoric and their silver-tongued obamessiah.
I guess "Axis of Evil" is a compliment, huh Bobbi? Idiot.
It was the dems election to lose and incredibly, they've done it again!
Priceless!

The other son disagrees
I heard Ron Reagan, the other son of Ronald Reagan, and his views are quite different. In fact he seems to view her as a right wing demagogue. She made many mistatements of fact, beginning with this myth of her as a reformer. In fact, she raised more money in federal earmarks per capita both for her small town and state than almost anywhere else. She supported the Bridge to Nowhere before opposing it. She ia an anti-environmentalist, pro big business politician.

To the many evangelicals slumming here:

Jesus was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor.

Sophie the Koolaid Drinker
"Especially considering she slashed funding for special ed in her state." Sophie

You've been drinking the Washington Post Koolaid. That story is a complete LIE. Sarah actually TRIPLED that budget.

Confirm your facts before you post them, fool.

Palin '12!

A conservative talk-radio host
here in Los Angeles joked (from the RNC) that Sarah Palin has that slightly prim look of the "naughty secretary with eyeglasses that you find in hotel porn".

Sophie

Palin also slashed funding for a pregnant teen housing program. No joke.

SRD: So, let the "other son" write his

own column.

It's not like the "other son" ever agreed with his father anyway.

Misstatement? Well, here's the thing. The left managed to shoot itself in the foot within hours of McCain naming Gov. Palin as VP.

The left has gone wild, like a shark feeding frenzy, smearing and attacking Gov. Palin and her family, so that no one believes ANYTHING the left comes up with.

Too bad too, 'cause even IF they did come up with some valid negative, NO ONE would believe it.

Kind of the boy who cried wolf! What a bunch of fools!!!

Sophie: More ad hominem?
Your a silly little liberal acting like Ronaldus was ever your friend. Dont insult our intelligence. Pedal your revisionist scrag to the Marxists who care.

Because John McCain is so busy attaching
the term "out-of-touch elitist" to Barack Obama, Vanity Fair magazine decided to price the glitzy couture that Cindy McCain donned for her Tuesday night RNC speech.

There was the Oscar de la Renta dress, the 4-strand pearl necklace, diamond earrings, designer shoes....

Total retail price of ensemble (according to Vanity Fair): between $299,000.00 and $313,000.00.

Yes! That's right! Almost a third of a million dollars to wear to the RNC! And none of it borrowed! Where does she think she's at? The Academy Awards???

And she and John have the gall to call Barack "elitist" and out of touch.

Jackpine: The BEST part is that all

that "Change" and "Hope" that Marxist Obama has been talking about..........

Little did Marxist Obama know that Gov. Palin IS the "Hope for Change."

PTL for Palin!
My husband and I got a "Reagan vibe" last night too.

I can't wait to see her debate Biden!

Josh ( or Will, or ?)
Vanity Fair?

Somehow I should have guessed.

HOW can you damned republicans and cons

screw the country up for 8 years and then have the insouciance to run on CHANGE?

Reaganites agree
I can't speak for all of us, but as a Reaganite, I agree wholeheartedly with Michael. Palin has an ability to communicate without using political-doubletalk. She has a gift. She wowed us. And I can only anticiapte there is more where that came from. She seems to realize the American Dream and that Shining City on the Hill. Thanks, Michael, for all you are doing to keep the flame alive! - Peggy Venable

If a baby was born and separated from its mother, placed in another room.

If the baby was in horrible pain and has been alive for hours.

Would YOU give the baby medical aid - pain medicine - or would you follow the lead of Obama and deny the baby any help?

Josh
Are you trying to be funny?
If you're not, it's really Really sad to see you grasping at any straw you can find.

I realize all your dreams of forcing the country to swallow socialism is swirling the drain right now, but you are Truly desperate.

Jesus was a "Community Organizer"???
Pontious Pilate was a Governor?

2 can play that game.

Hitler gave a great Speech.
Mussolini was LOVED by the left in the USA.

Want some more?

Any other time Jesus would be a Bad word to you, suddenly you have discovered the gospel?

Did that mythical beam of light come through your window like Obama said it would? Did you have an epiphany?

Have you ever even cracked the cover of a Bible before? Or maybe you have the Liberal Cliff Notes version.

Watching you smug liberals melt down is the best example of Poetic justice that I've seen in decades!

You guys are FUNNY!!!!!

josh , I suppose Oprah is not in touch?
What with Oprah dawning diamond custom made glasses saying 'obama' on them, is that the 'real america'? is jeremiah wright the real america? Is harvard law the real america? Is calling Clinton racist then praising him as president to fool white people, the 'real america'. Obama's values, associates, choices are not 'real america'. Only for inner city deluded youth and white liberal people. The rest of american has his number and call him out as the FAKE he is. Governor Palin - got many things right, among them 'the presidency is not a personal discovery journey!". FYI - nobody cares about Cindy's clothes or wealth, it's so transparent that it's not even funny. Obama is not in touch with american values, he may be more in touch with middle east and african values - as his religion teaches him to be. Black Liberation Theology is definitely NOT an american value.

She reminds me of Reagan also.

Energized
She is very Reaganesk! and will be a good VP for McCain and this nation. Moreover, she'll be a great President when it's her time to run!

josh , because change is not a
career building opportunity, it really is an adjective that americans can use to define 'the changing of the guards'. Unlike the DNC we do not want skin deep change, we want a good old fashioned american wave of change - the real kind with real results. The change that can come from people who have been there and done that - like Governor Palin. Talking about 'small town' americans - does Obama know 'small town' americans are the change we need? He got his memo last night and his defensive conference today is a give away. Governor Palin is the real deal baby - not a made up suit who will 'do or say anything to get elected' that is how Obama's pastor described him. He is a fake and his pastor said so!

You apparently didn't get the new memo. You guys are "conservative populists" now, fighting for the little guy. Not the corporations. Being for international corporations is SO LAST YEAR and is actually an anti-Palin message. Palin talks unions and blue collar workers. She's a "pro-life feminists". McCain talks environment and the need for legislation to modify carbon emmisions. Your party is for halting man-made global warming now. Believing global warming is a "hoax" is SO LAST YEAR!

I actually find it amusing that political parties swap each other's ideologies, depending on the specific individual adopting them.

Liberals and empty heads

"An empty head is not really empty; it is stuffed with rubbish. Hence the difficulty of forcing anything into an empty head."
Eric Hoffer

Liberals like Bob Munck know a lot of things, but most of what he knows is wrong or irrelevant.

Biden, Palin & Debates
Has anyone realized how badly Biden did at the debates during the primaries? Now, he will look even worse. He could not handle hillary or obama at the debates and when asked questions directly he fambled. With Sarah we will get a Poised Palin response to his 'giberish'. Today he was speechless and all he could say is 'she's impressive' - and americans know it! No doubt in my mind, Sarah Barracuda will wipe the floor with Biden, then move on to Obama. She can take them both then cuddle her baby with a smile LOLx10

Thank You, Michael
I haven't been this inspired since I was a precinct delegate for your Dad.

To Sophie the Socialist
When we heard the speech last night, I told my wife and daughter that this was the female Ronald Reagan. She speaks to America. Not the media, not the Muslim block (who replaced the Soviet block in terms of hatred for America), and not the lunatic fringe on the left. They're lost...why bother?

Re: Baby Trig as a prop. The only reason that family was out there was in reponse to all the boneheads suggesting Trig is Sarah's grandughter and that her pregnant daughter should be hidden in a closet. The appearance said, "Here we are. If you have something to say, we're right here, Bur'aq. We allow inconvenient babies to be born, not killed."

Guess what? There are 3 more campaign workers for McCain/Palin in our home that were not ready to serve when Bush ran. I know we're not an aberration, either. D'ya think Bur'aq is inspiring that many more people than Lurch Kerry did?

Palinius Maximus in '12.

Debates
Anyone know who Palin debated and beat? It was an incumbant w/ 22 yrs. of experience. I think it was the previous gov.

Husker2 writes

Yes, it's Will.

A true American
Michael:

Many thanks for your thoughtful comparison, which is, indeed, apt. That's because it's all about ideas, American exceptionalism, and fact that real talent can't be contained.

The reason she's controversial, and that the liberal media is apoplectic, is that they can't find political traction or weaknesses they can exploit.

She's a walking paradox: A lovely woman who happens to be astonishingly authentic and an astute politician who loves this Republic.

This wasn't what the left expected, and combined with Obama's lackluster polling, they're just in agony, not knowing what to do about it.

You would enjoy my post today on Palin, at:

Best,

Folks - curb your enthusiasm
We'll see if Gov. Palin is allowed to do anything other than wear black to state funerals.

Unless B.O. gets elected.

Then we'll all see the funeral of the USA.

At least McCain/Palin is not B.O./hair plugs.

Josh the Useful Idiot
""You apparently didn't get the new memo. You guys are "conservative populists" now, fighting for the little guy. Not the corporations. Being for international corporations is SO LAST YEAR""

Who said YOU got to be the one to Define conservatives? Your silly little saul alinsky tricks won't work on me stupid, I was a liberal before I was a conservative, I know all the tricks.

Don't sit in your mommy's basement in smelly week old superman jammies and tell ME what I believe. This is the reason liberals are called Loony by folks on the right. You don't KNOW any conservatives, so you have only a liberal Stereotype of a conservative to argue with.

Get out of the basement, go talk to a small business owner, you know those people that are paying your welfare check each month. Maybe if you actually meet a real conservative, you will find out that we don't have 3 heads and drink crude oil while shooting children for sport. No matter what your liberal Betters tell you.

I used to think liberals were just misguided, now I realize far too many of you are simply Demented.

Obama 'Hope'

I have been trying to find out exactly what Obama 'Hope' is.

I have read his entire website several times. I have asked the Obama apologists several times on different websites "Define Obama Hope"?

I have asked the 'Obama Cultic Followers' several times here at Town Hall "Define Obama Hope"?

I have yet to hear what 'Obama Hope' is, other than some variation of 'Bush Derangement Syndrome'. We are 19 months into the 'Hope' campaign and no one knows what the 'Obama Hope' definition is?

During this search for the meaning of 'Obama Hope' as spoke about by Liberals, I have discovered that to Liberals, 'Hope' is interchangable with 'Want(s)'.

When Liberals say, 'I Hope Obama helps the economy', Liberals are really saying: "I 'Want' Obama to give me someone elses money and resources."

Bob Muck
Telling the truth is not nasty. Ron Reagan would said the same things.

I just hope the rest of the Republicans fall in line behind Sarah, and as Harry Truman used to say, "givem hell".

Ther isn't a meaner bunch of cut throats this side of hell than the Socialist/Communist Party members.

Ha!
I simply can't believe how deluded you conservative commentators are. I think Peggy Noonan, who commented off the air from a televised interview, not expecting it to be recorded, that, for McCain, it was "over" and that Palin was bad choice. She had just written a column favorable to Palin. I think that's an honest estimation of what many conservatives really feel. Probably you too, Michael.

Thanks Michael, Bless You
Hopefully, she will ignite and carry worthily, our beloved Ronald Reagan memory and all the we hold so dear of him, to the next century.
Michael, thanks again for such a worthy compliment.

Obama 'Change'

The Obama 'Change' is quite evident. Obama wants to 'Change' America to a Marxist/Socialist country.

One would have to be completely ignorant of economic systems or agree with Obama that America should be Marxist/Socialist - period.

Maxine Waters blurted out in her exhuberance for the 'Obama Change', that oil companies should be Nationalized.

Oil company profit margins are about 9% - the MicroSoft profit margin is 22% - I guess MicroSoft is next.

The Only reason Democrats want high gas prices and refuse to drill for more resources is so Democrats can Nationalize a private industry and begin the Government takeover of all private business and redistribue wealth.

Jackpot!
Jackpot, Jackpot, Jackpot!

Wah Hoo!!!!

The Marxists Among Us!

I know it's frustrating to have to read the lies and ridiculous posts that we're infested with by bryce1, daft, josh, boob mook, smarmy-sophie, etc., etc., etc.

Seems like an endless list, doesn't it?

But, just so you know, what they're doing is lock-step with many of Saul Alinsky's 12 Rules for Radicals, and most specifically Rule #5.

"RULE 5: "Ridicule is man's most potent weapon." There is no defense. It's irrational. It's infuriating. It also works as a key pressure point to force the enemy into concessions."

And, have we not seen the same thing with Marxist Obama and his henchmen? Yes we have!

There's a dofference....
Between pimping and endorsing with the highest compliment in the land as far as I am concerned. Wouldn't it be great if Nancy Reagan came out and said so, too? That would really send the dems into a tizzy!
Sarah Palin was great and she has a potential we haven't seen in a long time. Is it 2012, yet?

It's no coincidence
First, my apologies to the several dozen good people remaining in the People's Republic of Kalifornia. But I observe that most of the more inane criticisms of Governor Palin above originate from the Babylon of the Left Coast, home to the fruits, nuts and flakes of America, the Granola Gang. May the left coast fall into the sea.

As for Governor Palin, I couldn’t be more excited for Conservatism and for America. Truly, it is once more "morning in America"!

Sarah Palin has Obama nailed

Sarah Palin debunked the oratory of Obama last night.

She showed Obama is 'All Thunder and No Rain'.

re: josh @6:18
We can run on change because it was going pretty darned good until two years ago when the Democrats were put in charge of the purse strings and have pile driven the economy with a glee that can only be described as criminal.

("Ron Reagan" is usually used to connotate the former president's biological son; I'll use "Reagan" to refer to the latter.)

Reagan would not have trashed an entire class of people -- community organizers -- to cast aspersions on a single individual. He was better with words than that.

Reagan reached out to people beyond his immediate core followers.

Reagan would not have lied outright about things that are easily checked.

Reagan would not have mouthed a speech written by Matt Scully. He himself was head-and-shoulders better as a writer.

Bob Muck jealous slime
Your frustration is showing Mucky wucky.

Hey, conservatives.

The numbers are in for last's nights RNC via Nielsen, and Sarah Palin pulled in 37.2 million viewers last night, almost rivaling Barack Obama's numbers last Thursday (38.4 million, a record).

The third night of the RNC in 2004, by contrast, was viewed by 18.7 million viewers, so Sarah doubled that viewership.

Lots of americans paying attention to this one. You can be proud of her. She'll certainly eclipse McCain's numbers.

Welcome Back Dad Article
Liberals cannot handle people who know what they believe because they are like children.
Liberals/Children: Want their own way - until they get it , Cry and complain until the parents give in - Republicans were giving in to the LIBS until SARAH came along , They want what they want not really knowing what it is they really want , they need to be put in a time out corner until they learn their lesson - In November the grown ups ( Republicans)will put them in their corner for four more years !

""Having baby Trig there (and the expectant teenage soon-to-be bride) was a calculated move. Not necessarily by Sarah. But by McCain's administrative team""

You don't think it's possible maybe she wanted her kids to be there when she had her Big Moment? God Forbid the woman may want to share a happy experience with her family!! Oh Man we need to take those kids away from here this minute! I mean C'mon, she let her oldest get Pregnant, she let her young daughter spit on her baby brother's head, she doesnt even love her son enough to stop him from joining the (GASP!) Army! She's an Unfit mother! Hell, she's never even had an abortion!!!!

Have I covered all of this weeks dem talking points?

I love the way you honor your dad.

Sarah touched me like no political figure has since your dad.

I could not see or discern an air of elitism, or a smug self-righteousness, any more than I ever did your dad.
No arrogance, no talking down at the citizenry

She is the real deal and I am going to go see her saturday, God willing.

Josh
My good man, most of Hussein's tv watchers were Muslims in other countries.

In America(not counting Kalifornia) there were about 8 million.

maldain

Thanks for the correction.

Thanks Michael..
..for stating what the liberal press won't dare say. My first thought as Gov Palin was speakin was, "she reminds me of Reagan".

I became of political age (voting and paying attention) when your dad became president (first prez candidate I ever voted for). At 18 I recognized the truth and honesty of your father and his beliefs. I was always so sickened by the way he was treated by the media. Only, we (the majority)Americans saw through the MSM garbage that was shoveled at us back then. We saw through it because your dad stood up to them (unlike the cowards and self-interest seekers of today).

I speak to my kids about Ronald Reagan (ages 9-18); they know who he was and what he stood for.

I was (and am) so proud of your dad. God bless him.

I see the same traits of personal integrity, straight forwardness and common sense in Sarah Palin.

Sarah Palin... "The Time Is Now".

The Republicans are tired of being stifled by wolves in sheep clothing that force us to accept hedonistic behavior, and a woman's reproductive rights, like we are just gorillas with one shot call this lifetime.

We are sick of the blathering Harvardite and all the ivy leaguers on their fifteenth marriage who spend more time at the analyst than enjoying life.

We are sick of the bloated idiots who go to the the "I'm a gorrilla indoctrination academy." and blow hot air because thats all they are gas.

The people you see at the RNC go through tough times with their wives and stick it through until they meet somewhere in their marriage and realize they really do love one another.

We are the people who love our children, and every moment of life we have been given, even through the tough times. WE ARE ADULTS!!!

You can whine about Reagan, but just look at Carter.

It is the same picture, a fool and a hero. Take that picture of Carter the fool and Reagan the hero and you have Obama the egocentric fool and John McCain the true hero.

Well, there you have it, Reagan Approved!
She is so amazing; she has only one or two tiny smudges on her conservative record. But then, so do all of you! ;)
Also, apparently, she's human.

I felt as she was speaking, that she had her toes right up against that podium, looking right at the enemies of the Republic (both within and without) and confronting them--for me...on my behalf. She also spoke of keeping America strong and free in a truly treacherous world. McCain, Palin, take it to the Hill!

Sarah's Handwriting Analysis...

Sarah's Signature has a 'rare' trait...

When signing her name, Sarah 'connects' her first name directly to her last name.

Now, from the expert (not me)...

"This trait is rare, but is found in the writings of various strategists."

and...

"An indication of Great Concentration."

I just wonder if the L.A. Times "experts" will come to the same conclusion :-)

Hey OBAMBIE TROLLERS!
SARAH PALIN kicked OBAMBIE and your butts last night. And she did it without the help of STYROFOAM GREEK columns or a TELEPROMPTER!

Get ready for JOHN MCCAIN to put the final nails in your collective coffin tonight.

Did you hear your candidate out there today at his PRESS conference SNIVELING like BABMI!

Say good-bye to the TELEPROMPTER KING. YOU and OBAMBIE are FINISHED!

Thank you Michael for your excellent article. Just as I get to give my comments another troll comes along after they get their talking points from Daily Kos and Huffpo. My God, isn't Sophie's and Josh's nauseous comments enough for most of us to stomach, without more socialists infesting this site? Sarah Palin's speech was a knockout, and that is why all these birdbrains are spieling their bile. Joe Biden is so scared of facing Sarah that he is reading all of the books on your father so that he can plagiarize something that he can use, so that he won't look so stupid.

Ret. Geek writes:"Classic Ronald Reagan"

"How do you tell a communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin." ~ Ronald Reagan

And, have we seen this time and time again right here on TH?

Why, yes we have!

NONE of the Marxist Obama followers seem to understand that Obama IS A MARXIST in spite of the fact that thousands of words have been posted PROVING exactly how and why Obama's agenda is right out of the Marxist Handbook!

It's OBVIOUS that they don't really know what Socialism/Marxism/Communism really is.

Thank you, Michael
Your support of Mrs. Palin means so much to all of us who followed your father's illustrious political career. And you have become quite the conservative torch bearer in your own right. Don't forget that. Yes, your father may have passed from this cruel world to go abide in that "shining city on a hill" that he often spoke of, but I believe with every fiber of my being that he has looked upon the lethargic state of affairs in the GOP and sent us an angel to remind us where we came from and where we should be going. After hearing Mrs. Palin's speech last nite I became filled with a new hope. To borrow some words from your beloved Dad, I now believe "it is morning in America" once again. God bless you, sir. You, your darling mother, and your siblings are in my thoughts and prayers.

"Total retail price of ensemble (according to Vanity Fair): between $299,000.00 and $313,000.00."

I'm sorry my friend, but when you take "elitist" in the context that it was intended, money isn't in the top ten list of attributes to the word. Barack Obama is an "elitist" in the sense that he is so much smarter than we. At least in his way of thinking he is.

Socialism is based on central government, and a basic arrogance that is exuded by those that know better than we do ourselves what is best for us.

Mr. Obama is quite simply, a legend in his own mind, and the only real way that you could in an intellectually honest way inject money into the equation is to look at where Mr. Obamas money came. Rezko, Ayers, et al...

The McCain's worked for their money in one way or another, and Mr. Obama simply worked the corrupt political system, and his corrupt and influential "friends".

I like the Teddy Roosevelt comparison..
... but the Reagan comparison holds strong.

George Bush had two problems:

He was far too conciliatory towards Democrats who were all to willing to take every cent they could get their grimy hands on and then stab him in the back

Saddled with a hysterical mainstream media, Bush became too distant - and his ability to communicate with the American people suffered.

I do not see McCain/Palin making either of these mistakes. If they can get to the White House, they can get us pointed back int he right direction.

Eric 9:53 PM EST
"The McCain's worked for their money in one way or another"

Cindy INHERITED IT. As Kurt Vonnegut said, her work was finished as soon as she picked the right birth canal to emerge from.

Obama made his money from sales of his two books. They are currently selling at a rate of 35,000 per week. McCain has written books that sold well also, but the great bulk of his money came from Cindy's father's efforts.

Gov. Sarah Palin
When she get's through with Biden he'll walk out of the building talking to himself and scratching his butt and head at the same time
and the wonder what was he thinking when he joined up Barack Hussein Obama.

Ronald Reagan might be gone but he'll never be forgotten.

PALIN is awesome as PALIN

Palin is NOT TRYING TO BE SOMEONE ELSE:

SHE DOES NOT NEED TO: ALL of the great Americans were themselves: that is what makes them great:

Obama is so desperate he is trying to be JFK
not a hair on his head is even remotely like JFK:

Obama is so desperate he has become a sleaze merchant with zero solutions:

Sarah Honors President Reagan
but will the Republican Party do the same? They have spent the last eight years turning their backs on President Bush and groveling to the Democrats. They've hung their President out to dry without hope of being saved. He never turned on them. They have made me ashamed of the party.

What they fail to remember is that the Democratic bullies, just like school yard bullies, don't go away because you bow and scrape and give them your lunch money. Instead they get meaner and more demanding.

It's time our Republican Senate and House members get off their knees and stand tall. Put the boxing gloves on and knock the crap out of the bullies in Congress!

About John and Cindy McCain..
It doesn't matter where they got their money as long as it was honest and it doesn't matter how many houses they own as long as they got them honestly.

Obama got one house and couldn't even get the one honestly.

Cindy McCain uses their money to help so many others; Obama won't help his own half-brother.

Put them side-by-side - Obama doesn't measure up to ANYONE on the Republican ticket.

He's a scourge, anarchist and has all the leanings of a Marxist student.

Margie 11:12 PM EST
"It doesn't matter where they got their money as long as it was honest"

In fact there's some question about that. Jim Hensley got his first liquor license under shady circumstances; it shouldn't have been granted under Arizona law because of his prior felony conviction for falsifying tax records and conspiracy. There were also problems with his connections to organized crime, brought out when he was charged with fraud in connection with a racetrack operation and bookmaking.

And, of course, there's the whole problem with Cindy's two half-sisters, cut off in her father's will and whom she refuses to acknowledge.

about the "slumming evangelicals"

Subject: To the many evangelicals slumming here:

Jesus was a community organizer and Pontius Pilate was a governor.

Actually Jesus was a MESSIAH and SAVIOR, not a phony, silver-tongued FALSE-MESSIAH who voted for infanticide...no matter how "obamessiah" tries to spin it, he voted to MURDER living beings...

Not like Jesus Christ at all.

Since BOB wants to talk ethics..
I guess being involved with Tony Reszco to get your house in return for political favors isn't unethical (or illegal for that matter.)

Then there is the case of Bill Ayers...mister "I wish we had gone farther..." when he blew up the capitol...and the one who ran the foundation that obamessiah was the CEO of..but can't seem to remember...

Father Flaggerty? Jeremiah Wright? Michelle my-belle?

The list goes on, including how he's trying to run the playbook from Saul Alinsky's book...

May I join the fracus?
good posts guys and gals.

Hitler was the greatest socialist politician of the twentieth century. Re; Nazism
Stalin was the greatest communist politician of the twentieth century. Stalin killed 80 million Russians
Reagon was the greatest American politician since WW 2

The liberals are to stupid to realize that they lose the very same things as everybody else. Read the history books. The fourth estate and the intellectuals helped the Bolsheviks over throw the Czar, and then the Commies rounded them up and sent them to the Gulags or stood them in front of a firing squad. And China, so on and so forth. but they just don't get it.

Any way some good posts here. its past my bedtime. Keep the heat on the Omammies.

TRUE AMERICANS
Maybe some liberals don't know how to define a true American. Michael's dad knew, for he was one. I agree that Sarah Palin fits in the same mold. Maybe the liberals find it too hard to believe that anyone would put their country ahead of their own petty ambition.

Bob Munck
It must be sad to be so jealous and envious of those who have more than you. You are so wise - why don't you run for President and bestow your wisdom on all us peons.

Heck - you could even ask wonder boy to break from his community organizing, 'cause it's beginnin' ta look like he's got a fight on his hands. And I personally know a whole lotta yellow-dog demos who are vets (they even voted for that swine kerry) and who, and I directly quote: "Will never forgive the democratic party for putting up someone so opposite of American values".

P.S. Your self esteem will grow significantly if you get a job.

I gotta tell you
Today at work all the liberals were yammering on and on about Sarah Palin's GREAT speech last night. It was almost funny listening to them whine endlessly. At first it was annoying, but then I realized that the reason for their four year old temper tantrum is that they are in a full-blown PANIC.

McCain/Palin '08

You can see the fear in their eyes...read it in their posts. Sophie, Josh, Munck, all of them are flailing like drowning rats in a hurricane.

Their desperation is obvious! Their arguments...amusing!

I hope you guys hang around. You're an encouragement in a year when conservatives haven't had much to celebrate. Your fear inspires our hope!

True Grit…Be Informed...

Regardless of which Political Party you prefer, “True Grit” is the answer…be informed. Ask yourself this simple question, “Which Candidates really have “True Grit”? Then seek your answer, but do not look to the mainstream media for your answer. These are troubling times in which we live, so look too History and its troubling times for your answer.

Perfect examples of "True Grit" can be found in people like Abraham Lincoln, FDR, Winston Churchill, Eisenhower, JFK, Reagan…to John McCain and Sarah Palin. As a Vietnam Vet, I get chills even now when I remember those days and think about John McCain’s traumatic experience at the hands of the North Vietnamese. It aggravates me that the Democratic Party has tilted so far to the left…I cannot even recognize it as the Party of FDR and JFK. Everyone should understand and deserves to experience what "True Grit" is and what it means to have “True Grit”.

The United States and the next President are going to be faced with some major challenges both domestic and foreign. On the foreign front…a resurgent Russia, an energized China, a global economy with serious problems, to the next chapter of the turmoil in the Middle East and dealing with the Osama bin Ladens of the world. On the domestic front…an energy crisis that spells trouble for all Americans, taxes and spending out of control, legal and illegal immigration that continues to increase, health care and education costs rise as quality is stagnated or declining, entitlement programs that will bankrupt this country.

What of Mrs. Palin's liabilities? Like McCain, she makes up for, in sheer determination to do the right thing. The intellect and a values system second to none and some good old common sense; there is no decision she or McCain would make, that I could not trust and support; because they have “True Grit”!

Watch out though. . .
The rabid fascist "media" are stretching their chains, barking incessantly, Let us at her! Give her to us! This isnt fair! We want her blood NOW! Keith Olbarfman and his buds look more and more like caged hyenas about to explode if they won't be allowed to attack.

I know she is more than capable to defend herself with serenity and humor as Reagan did in his own time BUT the media nazis never stop attacking. Their strategy is to throw wrenches in her spokes, to slow her down, to move her off the path. They know the time is very very short, which means time is on their side if they can get at her and make her slip just once. Thats all they need

George W. Bush was a decent man, but he has his mother's accursed blandness, Oh Puhlease let's get along! Lets forgive each other! The media nazis were ripping him apart, he just stood there smiling sheepishly. Hugo Chavez called him the devil RIGHT HERE IN the US of A, the White House ..."chose not to respond".

WHAT!?!?

The point is this: I hope and pray that the Republicans learn from the Obama gestapo method and protect Lady Sarah from the nazi democrat arse licking jackals known euphemistically as the "press core" - do not hold press conferences, do not take any questions from them until after election. Two things will happen: One, the jackals will simply choke on their own bile and drown in it. And two, Lady Sarah will be free to present herself freely to the nation, without having the hyena pack constantly chewing at her ankles.

I hope the big boys have thought of this.

Reagan ... with lipstick
AS I watched Sarah Palin I could almost see the Duke. The light in her eyes, that easy smile. Most of all, the way she held that convention in the palm of her hand and pointed the way. You just knew she belonged there ... just like Reagan.

Seriously, I think we not only saw the next vice president of these United States, but a future president as well.

McCain Palin!

The media on Sarah Palin - They Blew It
The media actually said that McCain should have put her name on the short list earlier so THEY could have properly vetted her.

Shame on the media for not knowing who she was two years ago.

Why wasn't the media pointing to Alaska and saying, "Look, here's your next VP?"

They sure thought the youthful and novice Governor Charlie Crist down here in Florida was a great pick.

The problem is, they didn't want a powerful conservative like Sarah Palin on the ticket

Let the campaign begin!

"Hurricane" Sarah
You are so right Michael! I volunteered for your dad's first campaign and his re-election and haven't seen anything like it since.
Bush senior or Jr have never motivated me and voted more against their opponents than for them.
Gov. Palin, after just two scant national appearances has conquered my heart and fired up my spirit as it seems to have with the vast "silent majority" of hard working, tax paying true Americans in middle America.
I can see how east and west coast "elite" politicians, journalists and lobbyists are desperately scurrying like cockroaches exposed to sudden light.

I immigrated from
a country held slave by the Soviet brigands. When I saw "The Speech" I thought here is a chance that we see change in our life time.

Mr. Reagan, your Father delivered! He is my hero!

I traveled 500 miles to stand in line for 5 hours in stifling heat to walk by his coffin in the Rotunda to pay my respects.

I traveled clear across the continent to the Reagan Presidential Library in Simi Valley to see his life achievements. (I also enjoyed listening to him telling stories in his inimitable ways on a video).

I have his picture next to my other hero, Pope John Paul II hung on the wall in my house.

There will NEVER be another Ronald Reagan. But Sarah Palin is about as good a start as we could ever hope for.

All off point: you are a jealous, envious, sad excuse for an individual. I won't even waste the pity on you.

Reagan'sTorch of Freedom has been passed
It was not a hail Mary pass although we should all thank the Lord for it.

Yukon Jack #124: Your post brought tears

to my eyes. God Bless you!

It's NOT JUST that our beloved Ronald Reagan is your hero, but it's clear what this wonderful country, and our freedoms and liberties mean to you.

How truly sad and pathetic that so many Americans take our freedoms and liberties for granted, and have absolutely NO appreciation for what they have as a birth right, and how many people have given their lives to preserve our way of life.

It's also very frightening how many do not see that Marxist Obama, if elected, will be taking our country to exactly what you emigrated from.

Obama...
is a Marxist, and reading about him is not necessary to reach that conclusion (although the many articles, and his own two books, that offer prove are helpful.) Just listen to the man speak. He champions statist ideology, collectivism and raw government power. His own community agitation experience, the "voluntary mandatory community service for education" policy he offers is reminicent of Hitler's Youth. His work with William Ayers on transforming public education in Chicago. His ideas for change are frightening.Obama has a plan for change for America. I hope America wakes up and realizes exactly what that change is.

Freedom
What is freedom? It is the ability to live where you want, go where you wish, work at the job you like, take classes in the field you want to do, and do it all safely.

As college kids we can take the courses we want in the field we want. We are not appointed jobs by the government, whether we want or like those jobs or not. We can marry the person we love without being told that they are of a different caste so we must marry someone else or are told that we must marry the person who paid our parents for us. We can live in the location where we like, whether it is a place five miles from where we grew up or three thousand miles away. We can live on the side of the ocean, the side of a lake, or in the mountains without being told that we are not of the right social class or the right government party. We can take the job we want and, if it turns out we don't like it, get another job elsewhere without being told that we can't. We can enjoy any hobby we like, including hunting, without being told that we can't. We can protect ourselves and our families without being told that we can't harm our attackers (who might be the government itself in other countries). We can depend upon police to work equally hard to protect us as they might for someone else.

What we don't need is someone who wants to "take care of us". Obama stated recently that he wanted to get to know the people better so he could better "take care of them". I just want the government to leave me alone to take care of myself so I can do as I want and not as someone else wants.

What Alaskans Think ...
I have relatives in Alaska, so as soon as I heard of Sarah Palin I sent them a message asking about her. This is their reply:

"You asked about our Governor. We all think she is fabulous - I truly do not know anyone, even my democrat friends that don't feel this way about her - she has done a fabulous job so far as Governor. She attends a wonderful church in Wasilla (many of our friends go there). She chose LIFE when she and her husband discovered that her latest baby would be Downs - she did not abort. Her daughter who is now pregnant is also choosing life, even though the situation is unfortunate. She ebayed the state jet saying she could save the state a lot of money if she flew like everyone else. I have heard she also doesn't use limos but drives herself everywhere. She did not hire a governor's mansion cook saying she and her husband could cover that base and save the state money. Strong woman, strong Christian character (that part says a lot to me), strong leader, going in the right direction, etc. Obviously, we think she is great!"

That's good enough for me.

Anne, thanks for the kind words.
Freedom does funny and unpredictable things to people. Sure, all the rights and priviledges are taken for granted by Americans based on 200+ years of experience.

But it goes deeper than that. Last summer I visited my old country for my 50th anniversary of high school graduation. I almost cried when I saw the anti-Semitism, anti-Americanism and still popular Communist sentiments.

My brother said to me that God has not only taken his hands off Hungary, but actually stumped His foot on it. When I asked if this may be due to the fact that all the churches in Hungary are EMPTY, the suicide and abortion rate is or close to the the highest in the world, he could only blame the Jews.

Some people simply do NOT deserve democracy. I fear that Americans are rapidly approaching that state. They want cradle-to-grave government nanny-state looking after every aspect of their lives.

The Founding Fathers must be rolling in their graves.

Elect Obama and they will be spinning.

Did You HEAR

what happened to NObama this past Thursday morning???

He awakened with a moose's head in his bed!

GO GET 'EM SARAH!!!!

Mike, your mother was cute

When I judge a person and their ability to do a job, I try to make sure I use the same criteria and method for both men and women.

So let’s assume that two people are found to be a “10” in their ability to do the job.

Since I am convinced that a Beautiful Lady can do anything better than any man, I then apply one last test.

I judge the beauty of the lady, then add that as the exponential. That means if ObamBam and the Barracuda are both found to be a “10” in the abilities, I add the exponential of “10” to the score of the Barracuda, and OBamBam is out of luck, completely.

I used that method to judge the ability of my Sweetie for 55 years and 13 days, with one additional criteria, that doesn’t apply to a candidate.

There's nothing more beautiful
than a beautiful lady.
And the less the clothes,
the more the beauty.”

============

And by the way Mike, I met with your Dad 10 or 15 times, and I just loved talking with him. We disagreed on some things, but he showed very good judgment in his life, and while in my business I met thousands of people, he was, and still is, the greatest man I ever met.

And you are so lucky that while your mother had the cutest profile of anyone ever, that face of yours would not work right if you had inherited her cute nose.

I never met either your mother Jane Wyman, nor your Stepmother Nancy, both choices prove that your Dad had great taste.

P.S.
What happened to closing our borders?

You conservatives are very kind not to

mention how Barry and Michelle pimped their daughters for political advantage.

Hey Josh,
You seem to be a little testy today, so let's get a few things straight!

1. Jesus wasn't a community organizer, He was and is a King. And he had no problem with taking out the establishment (His own party even), even walking into their religious places, overturning money handler's tables (lobbyists?) and throwing the bums out.

Obama doesn't come close does he?

2. As for Mrs. McCain's wardrobe, she was lucky enough to inherit the money from a father who started at the bottom and worked his butt of to achieve the American dream.

No affirmative action and crying about having to pay back the loans like Mrs. Obama

Chris Matthews & Keith Olberman: see a therapist

Nancy Pelosi: see a better plastic surgeon

Joe Biden: wipe that smirk off your face, and get a few more hair plugs before the next campaign

Columnists warning about "civil unrest" if Obama loses: we have enough prisons, but thanks for warning the police and the FBI about the riots you are inciting; and thank you for ensuring that another black socialist will never again win the nomination

Cuyahoga County, Ohio residents: be on the alert for vote fraud; Obama's pals at ACORN have registered 75,000 new voters, and your county now has 275,000 more registered voters than you have adults living in your county!

McCain/Palin supporters: make sure you vote! ...and no hanging chads, please! (refer to Cuyahoga County note)

Andrea Mitchell: buy some Kleenex for election night - you'll need it

Larry King: wear a heavy duty diaper on election night

Stupid fat people: leave town when a hurricane approaches, we don't have as many helicopters as you might think!

McCain/Palin in a landslide. McCain will actually VETO spending bills - something Bush and Clinton didn't do. If McCain's knees get weak, Palin will be there to keep him in line.

Palin & Michael Steels in 2012, over Hillary and whatever re-tread she comes up with

Mitchell, non-performer

Did you notice on the TV closed captions the other day, NBC identified one of their most important, and long term performers, as Andrew Mitchell.

That is the same reporter who called the Barracuda "a Performer" even before she gave her speech.

Not a Governor, not a Mayor, not a mother, just a performer. It would be more of an insult if she had called the Alaskan Sweetie, a NBC employee.

Another Ronald Reagan?
AMEN!!!!!!!!!

Amen
Michael, I appreciate your thoughts. I agree.
Sarah Palin has the Spirit of Ronald Reagan,
which is the Spirit of America. She has the
firmness and humor of Ronald Reagan. She
represents what Americans want to vote for.
The Republican Party in particular needs to
pay attention because it is one of the few
pro-American parties left.

Sarah Palin
I was on the McCain bandwagon before she came on and having her just makes it the icing on the cake! Her speech was incredible! I loved President Reagan and his son is right on in saying that he has come back as her! I always enjoyed listening to him talk and fondly remember that I walked to my poling place to vote for him my first time voting. I was green before it was cool to be green! I enjoyed the Reagan years and if we could go back to those times I would be "over the moon" with joy!
