Obama the Magic Negro-Gate

Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

This is how the whole thing started.

David Ehrenstein, a writer who happens to be black and liberal, wrote an opinion piece in March 2007 in the Los Angeles Times called "Obama the 'Magic Negro.'"

He argued that whites, according to sociologists, stereotype blacks as "dangerous." But whites consider Obama accessible, likeable and "benign." This, according to Ehrenstein, explains Obama's "crossover" appeal.

The article insults a) Obama, by virtually ignoring his effectiveness as a candidate, b) whites, by accusing them of voting for Obama merely to assuage their own guilt, and c) Sidney Poitier, the brilliant, groundbreaking actor, for ascribing his success to whites who find him safe and non-threatening.

The article produced virtually no outcry.

Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh then aired a song parody --set to the music of "Puff the Magic Dragon" -- called "Barack the Magic Negro." Referring to the L.A. Times article, an Al Sharpton-like "singer" called Obama inauthentically black. Why, complained the singer, should white folks vote for Obama rather than a true black man "from the hood" like -- me.

Chip Saltsman, a candidate for chairman of the Republican National Committee, sent the song on a CD with 40 other songs, in a Christmas mailer to committee members. Doesn't the mailer, asked several cable news programs, expose the Republicans -- yet again -- for their tone deafness on the issue of race? CNN host Anderson Cooper asked about the term "Negro." Isn't it pejorative?

Never mind the parody actually satirized Al Sharpton. The song implies that Sharpton hoped against an Obama victory, for it crushes Sharpton's argument about America's alleged institutional racism, a force so potent in a country so racist that Obama could not win. An Obama win threatens to reduce the significance of Sharpton-like black leaders. And never mind a black liberal -- who started the whole thing -- called Obama a "Negro."

When will the GOP -- on the issue of race -- go on the offense?

After all, for 100 years, the Democratic Party showed its tone deafness to the rights of blacks. Democrats opposed the 13th Amendment (freeing the slaves), the 14th Amendment (making ex-slaves citizens) and the 15th Amendment (that, on paper at least, gave blacks the right to vote). Democrats founded the Ku Klux Klan -- some even call it the "terrorist wing of the Democratic Party." And a greater percentage of Republicans than Democrats voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

Alabama Gov. George "segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever" Wallace was a Democrat. Georgia Gov. Lester Maddox, who as a restaurateur, left pick handles hanging on the walls to provide customers recourse in the event an uppity black tried to enter his restaurant. He was a Democrat. Arkansas Gov. Orville Faubus attempted, in 1957, to prevent the integration of Little Rock High School. He was a Democrat. Bull Connor, the commissioner of public safety for Birmingham, Ala., turned water hoses and dogs on civil rights activists. He was a Democrat.

But what about the infamous Republican Southern strategy?

The co-author of the strategy, Pat Buchanan, wrote in 2002: "Richard Nixon kicked off his historic comeback in 1966 with a column on the South (by this writer) that declared we would build our Republican Party on a foundation of states rights, human rights, small government and a strong national defense, and leave it to the [Democratic] 'party of Maddox and Wallace to squeeze the last ounces of political juice out of the rotting fruit of racial injustice.'"

Today it's Democrats who blatantly use the race card to malign Republicans as a collection of bigots. Yet it's Republicans who support school choice and private Social Security savings accounts -- both of which disproportionately help blacks.

Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee, Democrat Charlie Rangel, said of Republicans, "It's not 'spic' or 'nigger' anymore. They say 'let's cut taxes.'" Rangel, in an attack on Bush, called him "our Bull Connor." Donna Brazile, then Al Gore's campaign manager, called Republicans "white boys," and said, "A white-boy attitude is 'I must exclude, denigrate and leave behind.'"

Hillary Clinton, before a group of blacks, condemned the then-Republican-controlled Congress: "When you look at the way the House of Representatives has been run, it has been run like a plantation, and you know what I'm talking about." Then-candidate and now Democratic Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill said of George Bush's response to Hurricane Katrina, "George Bush let people die on rooftops in New Orleans because they were poor and because they were black." In a Katrina hearing, Democrat Barney Frank accused Bush of intentionally responding sluggishly. Why? Katrina would induce blacks to leave Louisiana, making it a more solidly Republican red state -- a Bush scheme that Frank called "ethnic cleansing by inaction."

Democratic Party chairman Howard Dean recently referred to the Republican Party as the "white party." The 35 percent of Asians and 31 percent of Hispanics who voted Republican apparently don't count.

So who should apologize to whom?

You go! I love yr post. And did you ever read that very interesting book, "Find a Better Country?" It's really, really well written and has lots of good info. I think the writer's name is Hamblin. He's a well-known radio host.

Excellent!...we didn't belly-ache about racism, parents taught us that "hard work" and discipline will get you ahead in life and it did!!!

BHO the Magic-gate....
Ron Jones in TN stole my thunder...he's absolutely correct,Obamessiah has worked his magic,so you better get used to 4 tumultuous yrs forthcoming(God help us)..
I was born in the midwest, 55 yrs ago as a Native-Black American(my mother was of the Chippewa tribe),but we didn't belly-ache about racism, parents taught us that "hard work" and discipline will get you ahead in life and it did!!!
One last thing for the America-haters.....
the last time I checked(someone correct me if I missed something),there were no check points at any of the major airports, seaports or railroads, forbidding ANYONE from leaving such a horrible,RACIST country like the USA. So by hating America and the laws that govern it, so much, I believe you are FREE to LEAVE,(and take the MSM & bleeding heart victicrats with you) it would be a better place and maybe you could find solace in some other country/continent that is not filled with such racists as America!

Charles CA NY-NJ Mulatto vs Black
Over the years, blacks have found one exception to the one-drop rule.
Indians have proven far more open than whites to intermarrying with blacks. There are many Indian tribes with significant black blood and a handful of mixed-race communities- sometimes called American Mestizos –
The Ramapoughs, a poor community of some 2,000, mostly keeping to themselves and marrying among themselves, in the Ramapo Mountains straddling the NJ-NY line. Their petition for federal recognition as an Indian tribe describes them as a "closed society highly resentful and distrustful of outside intrusion" where visitors driving through the enclaves, unaccompanied by Ramapoughs barraged with stones." Some look Indian, some white, some black - sometimes all three in the same family - many a mixture of all three. Jocelyn Van Dunk is a card-carrying Ramapough Indian’s birth certificate says that Van Dunk is colored. Van Dunk says, to her dying day her mother insisted she was all Indian. She said that she is not any one thing. "I can't sit here and say I'm an American Indian. I can say my heritage is American Indian. I'm clearly not a pure-blooded Indian. Maybe my mother was. I don't know."
The Ramapoughs were known as Jackson Whites, a term they consider a racial slur which refers to the jumbled progeny of Tuscarora Indians, Hessian mercenaries who fought for the British in American Revolution and 3,500 white prostitutes from England, blacks from the West Indies - brought to comfort British troops by a ship's captain Jackson.
"It's a slap in the face," said Ronald Van Dunk, who is also Chief Redbone, In the 70s, David Cohen, who had lived with the Ramapoughs, wrote a dissertation in which he said, the RAMAPOUGHS WERE THE DESCENDANTS OF FREE BLACKS AND MULATTOS who had lived among the Dutch in NY - There might have been intermarriage with Indians and whites, but they were really a black people. The Ramapoughs were not pleased.

LOUISIANA COURT REJECTS CHANGE IN RACIAL
Mama'selle from Lousiana.
According to you Obama is Mulatto not Black

You might find this story interesting.

October 19, 1985
AROUND THE NATION;
LOUISIANA COURT REJECTS CHANGE IN RACIAL STATUS
AP
A 51-year-old, fair-skinned woman may not change the racial classification on her birth certificate to ''white'' from ''colored'' because she did not offer sufficient proof of her race, a Louisiana appellate court ruled today.

''We're going to appeal it, of course,'' said Brian Begue, attorney for the plaintiff, Susie Guillory Phipps.

The decision by the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeal involved a 1970 state law that said anyone with more than one thirty-second of Negro blood was legally black. In 1983, because of Mrs. Phipps's lawsuit, the law was repealed.

At issue in the appeal was whether people can change information on their birth certificates. The court upheld a state law that said the information could be changed only if proved to be in error, and ruled that Mrs. Phipps did not offer sufficient evidence for the change to be made on her certificate.

Mrs. Phipps is the great-great-great-great granddaughter of a slave and a French planter who moved to Louisiana in 1764. She discovered she was not legally white seven years ago, when she was getting a passport to fly to South America with her husband.

Who Built the Pyramids?
Not slaves. Archeaologist Mark Lehner, digging deeper, discovers a city of privileged workers.
by Jonathan Shaw

The pyramids and the Great Sphinx rise inexplicably from the desert at Giza, relics of a vanished culture. They dwarf the approaching sprawl of modern Cairo, a city of 16 million. The largest pyramid, built for the Pharaoh Khufu around 2530 B.C. and intended to last an eternity, was until early in the twentieth century the biggest building on the planet. To raise it, laborers moved into position six and a half million tons of stone—some in blocks as large as nine tons—with nothing but wood and rope. During the last 4,500 years, the pyramids have drawn every kind of admiration and interest, ranging in ancient times from religious worship to grave robbery, and, in the modern era, from New-Age claims for healing “pyramid power” to pseudoscientific searches by “fantastic archaeologists” seeking hidden chambers or signs of alien visitations to Earth. As feats of engineering or testaments to the decades-long labor of tens of thousands, they have awed even the most sober observers.

The question of who labored to build them, and why, has long been part of their fascination. Rooted firmly in the popular imagination is the idea that the pyramids were built by slaves serving a merciless pharaoh. This notion of a vast slave class in Egypt originated in Judeo-Christian tradition and has been popularized by Hollywood productions like Cecil B. De Mille’s The Ten Commandments, in which a captive people labor in the scorching sun beneath the whips of pharaoh’s overseers. But graffiti from inside the Giza monuments themselves have long suggested something very different.

Anthony Thomas
You are justifying black on black slavery, but not white on black slavery. I see...

I suppose the slaves that built the Pyramids were the fault of whites of Europe too.

Slavery has been around forever, I'll wager much of it was brutal. I'm Irish-American, my Ancestors were slaves too, I don't still blame the English for it - but you don't hear much on Irish slavery now do you?

Never even knew about it right? That because the Irish moved on from it. Here's a good article for you.

(snippet)
The Proclamation of 1625 ordered that Irish political prisoners be transported overseas and sold as laborers to English planters, who were settling the islands of the West Indies, officially establishing a policy that was to continue for two centuries. In 1629 a large group of Irish men and women were sent to Guiana, and by 1632, Irish were the main slaves sold to Antigua and Montserrat in the West Indies. By 1637 a census showed that 69% of the total population of Montserrat were Irish slaves, which records show was a cause of concern to the English planters. But there were not enough political prisoners to supply the demand, so every petty infraction carried a sentence of transporting, and slaver gangs combed the country sides to kidnap enough people to fill out their quotas.

Although African Negroes were better suited to work in the semi-tropical climates of the Caribbean, they had to be purchased, while the Irish were free for the catching, so to speak. It is not surprising that Ireland became the biggest source of livestock for the English slave trade.

At least blacks had a value, Irish didn't.

You are both absolutely correct - Nagin cohorts and Democrats caused the damage from Katrina NOT the weather and it is never ending.

He is NOT a Negro
He is NOT the first "Black" President
He is a MULATTO

A fair question Jo
Sometimes I get the sense that there is NOTHING the white man has done right. And thus, our only opportunity to prostrate ourselves before those whom we've "so horribly wronged" (by virtue of the DNA in our blood) is by paying...PAYING THROUGH THE NOSE.

Only when we refuse our own children food, clothing, education and finery in order to pay for:

food, clothing, housing, education, health care, after-school programs, affordable housing programs, "a living wage," old-age pensions, ad nauseum.

Only when we pay for these things, and do it with the proper air of humility and deference will we be allowed to feel as if we are beginning to do something right. Note this is just the beginning "there is still so much that needs to be done, but progress is being made."

But whatEVER you do...don't dare even HINT that "the choices we make dictate the lives we lead."

Any talk like that, and all that hard work and sacrifice will count for naught, your brown noser points will be subtracted and you'll be sent back to start. Then, you'll have to pay twice as much, and your kids will have to wear sackcloth and ashes to prove that they understand their inherent inferiority.

But don't worry, by then, you'll have been in a co-dependent relationship with the abuser for so long that you will jump at the chance to deny your children in favor of someone else's.

There you go...
Europe let Muslims in because they are *liberal* and they believe in fairness and equality at all costs.

Same reason democrats here like sanctuary cities.

"Prior (and during) this time slavery was practiced in *Africa* with Tribes raiding neighboring tribes all the way back to ancient times."

The "slavery" practiced in pre colonial Africa was not nearly as brutal or on the same scale as the slavery practiced by Arab and European countries. Please read the following encyclopedia reference as it seems you are misinformed:

The following is an excerpt from the reference I provided:

"However, early African traditions of slavery appear more benign when compared to the institutionalized systems of slave trading that would develop later. As African states began providing slaves for export by Arabs or Europeans, slavery became much more central to the economies and politics of those states and more of a threat to Africans in general."

Once You vote Black
Is there anything the white man has done right? Is there any fault at all on blacks for not progressing? Here and in Africa?

Again honest questions.

once you vote black
I am 72 years, I grew up in IND of the underground railroad, My best friend was a black in Middle (Junior) school. We were not taught racism so the only time I was uncomfortable was when Shirley took me home to meet Grandma as she was obviously tense, I did not know why. I soon learned, when in high school in Ft Knox, we were bused to E-town for a game. A black young man who was with us was suddenly attacked as we were also, we ran for the buses with Ernest in tow as the young men fought their way to the buses. Mobile Ala my kids were the first cross bused. My oldest son in High School was beaten by three blacks with belts during a riot. When I sold RE, I often worked with blacks and put several families in good housing in decent neighborhoods. When Shirley Chisam was the first black female elected in DC she was asked where she felt the most discrimation, being a black or a woman. She answered most certainly being a woman. I fought that battle all my life and still haven't won. At least you have won yours

The Magic Negro-gate and Jewish-gate
One of the weaknesses of Elders article is that there is no link to Ehrenstein's article.
Note there is no mention of Sharpton in the article.

http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la-oe-ehrenstein19mar19 ,0,5335087.story?coll=la-opinion-center

So why not link the article Elder mentioned?
Probably because there no mention of Sharpton in the article. Elder also failed to mention that Ehrenstein is half Jewish. He did call him lower case "black" and liberal.

Paul Shanklin is Jewish. He created the parody Barack the Magic Negro. He wrote the lyrics and sang it - in his best Al Sharpton voice,
much like Jews played Black characters on radio decades ago.

Note Sharpton has not said anything controversial about Barack Obama. But Shanklin manipulates you into thinking Sharpton did.

Chip Saltsman is Jewish. He distributed the parody as a CHRISTAMAS gift to members of the RNC in hopes of currying favor and votes for the GOP Chairmanship next month.

Yet another race baiting destraction from neocons. What else is new?

Strange that it's o.k. to say Black, White, Negro, Magic Negro, Latino, Arab, Muslim, but not Jewish. According to one previous poster, just mentioning word Jewish is anti-semetic.
But apparently for him Magic Negro is o.k.

Kike is anti-semitic, shylock is anti-semitic, yes, but the word Jewish is not antismetic.

Partisan fools will lie all day long.
The fact is, the song was released to mock the racist, condescending behavior of Liberal Democrats towards the Obama candidacy. Race-hustlers said he wasn't "black enough." Rich liberal snobs in government and media jobs went on about how "clean and articulate" Obama was - like their expectation of a black man is that he should be dirty and unintelligible or something!

These vile attitudes are ~rightly~ mocked. There isn't anything "magical" about Barry Obama except in the minds of the deranged Left. He's another hack lib politician in a suit - nothing more and nothing less. Trying to take him as exception because of his race is itself rank racism - the sort of which the Democrats have practiced for decades to the detriment of all citizens.

Soft bigotry of low expectations - hard at work in the Democrat Party.

Anthony Thomas
Portuguese, Spaniards, English, French, Dutch and North America building demands created the Atlantic slave trade.

Prior (and during) this time slavery was practiced in *Africa* with Tribes raiding neighboring tribes all the way back to ancient times.

This fact will be a little hard to pin on Europeans, if that was your intention.

My point was - things for American Africans would have been worse had they not come here.

“ Would you prefer you were still in Africa? (I ask this as a honest question no sarcasm.) Because it doesn't looks like many blacks there are doing much better than here, in fact over all - it's worse.”

The current problems in Africa are a direct result of European colonialism, neo-colonialism, apartied, imperialism, and the Atlantic Slave trade. All of these events completely changed the dynamic of the continent because they perverted, and destroyed the culture in a way that has made it difficult for the continent to improve its conditions.

What? What are you smoking? Is this another one of your creation myths?

I was oming of age during Little Rock and the U of Georgia, you moron. Get a history book and learn to read.

Oh, wait, most of it's on film. You kno't even need to know how to read, good for you.

Kenny, Charles, Jo:
Kenny: 2008 Results: Obama 53% with 66,882,230 to McCain's 46% with 58,343,671. A differential of 7% or 8.5 million votes and 28 states to 22. No landslide but a significantly larger victory than either of the previous two. I can't recall but am open to a reminder - when did Obama claim a mandate from the results? The last time I heard a claim of a mandate (in so many words) from a just (re)elected President was Bush in 2004.

Charles: Your anti-liberal and anti-black ranting and sterotyping is rather boring. Sadly, we've all heard it many times before. Curious: what % of Blacks do you think you are referring to when you describe them as lazy, etc.?

Jo: The 2000 recession stradled the end of Clinton and the start of Bush. Officially, 1 down quarter is not a recession. It takes a second one, that time under Bush, to define a recession. And you forgot the recession were in now in that started in Bush's last year. If Dems are responsible for this one (no) because they controlled Congress since 2006 then I guess Reps are responsible for the 2000 one. And let's at least be honest about the deficits and national debt doubling under Bush. No vetos of Republican spending bills (or anything else) during the first 6 years. That's not just Bush at fault. Republicans passed and sent him the bills.

The American People are educated
by the 10 second sound bite. A person can make an accusation in 10 seconds. This is what the Democrats do to Republicans. They say the Republicans are racist. The Republicans then address the insult but since the refutation would take much longer than 10 seconds the media does not cover or spread the message. The Democrats have learned well from their Marxist and Communist brethern.

It's just the race card all over again
Humans the world over will continue to mistrust "the other" regardless of how "the other" is identified. This will not change until the human race no longer inhabits this planet. GET OVER IT.

If you want to complain about how "sad and awful and institutionalized" is the racism in America you REALLY need to get out more and travel the world. Either you are completely ignorant, completely disingenuous, or a not-so-closeted marxist thug.

But more importantly, since admitting the problem is the first step. I'll be the first (second, if you count James Carville) to say it. "This is America, and You don't have to like ANYBODY if You don't want to."

If you're black, stop your whining & your sniveling over how whitey done you wrong and how lord barack is going to make it right. We just don't give a rats_arse.

If you're white, stop your self loathing flagellation and needless verbal fe11atio of all things ghetto. You look ridiculous; like a bunch of spineless, limp-wristed twinks craving the black man's "blessing."

You'd better brace yourself, because what Raila Odinga's cousin is about shove down your throat AIN'T no blessing.

YOU have allowed YOUR elected representatives to steal from you and your children, and buy votes from the non-productive dependent class with the fruits of your labor.

You've sent your children to government indoctrination centers and allowed them to be filled with lies and propaganda about you, your race, your culture, your heritage, and your forefathers.

What is most surprising of all is that you continue to allow the aforementioned politicians to live.

You are fools of the lowest sort who deserve every indignity that is about to be visited upon you.

Republican economic policies not Racist.
If a middle class man sees a homeless man of any race approaching and says to himself "There but for the grace of God go I", he is probably a Liberal and a Democrat.
If on the other hand the man says "Why doesn't that damned loser get himself a job and work his way up like me", he is probably a Republican.
Republicans are against the poor regardless of race. It just happens that for historical reasons a higher proportion of blacks are poor. So it appears that Republican economic policies are racist when in fact they are just anti-poor.

Charles the idiot...
Give me a break...here are your misrepresentations:

1. True..LBJ pushed for civil rights action. BUT the party that he had to depend on to pass the legislation was the REPUBLICAN party! The Senate Majority Leader..Albert Gore SR...did NOT support the legislation; and neither did most of the Democratic party! If you are going to tell something; tell the WHOLE story!

2. Why do you point out that Mr. Salzman is JEWISH? Sounds like you are somewhat anti-semetic, Charles..

3. What does having an ex-wife and a vasetomy have to do with the veracity of the person and their positions? This is nothing more than a red herring. (Red being the key word..)

4. FDR was forced to integrate the CCC projects under threat of riots by the black leaders of his day (he uses the N****r perojative frequently.) JFK thru his brother RFK bribed MLK by forcing him to deliver the black vote in order to get him out of trouble with the law.

5. Sharpton? Are you kidding?

6. the fact that white men vote Republican is again a red herring. I would GUARANTEE you that if J.C.Watts (a black man) ran for President on the Republican ticket that 'white' men would have voted for him as well!

I put it to you Charles, that you are showing your ignorance of the facts and your racial bent. Game over.

RE: JAG in CA @ Jan 1 - 12:45 EST.

Ditto, which is why I do not listen anymore to the race baiting "black critics". I just do not "care" about "black issues" anymore. There are issues out there that affect a few, and can be addressed through civil discourse, many affect us all, our children, and grandchildren. Either join society and pursue your opportunities or just shut up and emmigrate to any other "land of opportunity".

People of whatever "color" (I refuse to identify with any other descriptor than American) must stop making bad decisions and blaming others for them. Stop, it may not be easy, but you can get on your knees and ask for help because HE is always ready should you confess, surrender and accept the offer of salvation in Jesus Christ.

Mr. Elder has addressed a great topic, and made several wonderful points. "Black" America has some wonderful men of wisdom, and leadership, but must turn from those "overseers" who pursue nefarious self interests and power.

The guy calling himself "Charles" - -

Mr. Unite Us
FDR forced Southernes to include Black Americans in CCC projects. Kennedy met with King, Nixon refused. Lyndon Johnson supported the Voting Rights Act of 1965 & Civil Rights Act 1964. Goldwater opposed. Prior to the passasge of the ACTs. most Black Americans were denied the Constitutional right to vote.
Those opposed to these rights being extended to Black Americans were consistently Southern Whites regardless of party affiliation. Lyndon Johnson signed these Acts into law knowing that many Southern Whites would switch from Democrat to Republican. Obama victoriies in Virginia and North Carolina shows that times a are a changing.

Democrats
The best thing the Democrat Party could do for America, is rename itself to reflect its marxist philosophies.

ONCE YOU VOTE BLACK

.....There are three criteria I look for in a man/women before I vote for them:

...1. Do they support family values?

...2. Do they support fiscal responsibilty?

...3. Do they support a strong National defense?

.....If they meet all three they get my vote regardless of Party, color or ethnic background ...

.....If a politician promised to give my ethnic group special priviledges, I might consider voting for him (this is human nature)...but if he/she did not support one or all of my three requirements ...and I still voted for him/her ...then I have sold my soul .....COLOSSUS

Mr. Unite Us
David Ehrenstein (born February 18, 1947, in New York City) is an American critic who focuses primarily on issues of homosexuality in cinema. His father was a secular Jew with Polish ancestors, and his mother was of African American and white Irish descent[1].

Larry Elder
Ex-talk show host, ex-tv show host,
ex-husband, no children, and 1 vasectomy.

Al Sharpton,
Controversial minister who said nothing controversial about Obama. Sharpton's presidential campaign was financially backed by Republicans.

Chis Saltzman, Jewish RNC chairmen hopeful, hoping that distributing a race baiting parody, on Christmas of all days would ingratiate him with Republicans.

Why Blacks vote Democratic.
FDR forced Southernes to include Black Americans in CCC projects. Kennedy met with King, Nixon refused. Lyndon Johnson supported the Voting Rights Act of 1965 & Civil Rights Act 1964. Prior to this most Black Americans were denied the Constitutional right to vote.
Those opposed to these rights being were consistently Southern Whites regardless of party affiliation.

Most Americans vote Democratic, except for
White men. So the question should be why don't most White men vote Democratic. What keeps them glued to a party that only benefits a relatively few number of Republicans? A vicarious relationship with a talk radio host?

One Reason I am a Republican
Republicans like Demoncrats share the same believe that we're entitled to happines. It's how we go about it that's different. Democrats believe is the government's responsibility to deliver it by means of entitlements and the nanny state. The Democraty Party feeds on poverty and misery to have a reason to exist. Let's face it, if everybody was doing well there were no reason for the Democratic party to exist. Have you noticed also how they think globally yet think domestically. Have you noticed the smarter they are the more patronizing they are. Whatever happened to John F. Kennedy's mantra of don't ask your country can it do for you, ask what you can do for your country?

OYVB
The reason the majority of Blacks and illegals vote Democrat is because they want something for nothing. Too bad your party has promised them something and gave them nothing for the past fifty years.

Private Social Security savings accounts
would have disproportionately benefited black Americans? Really?

Is there any American citizen, black or white or red-white-and-blue, who regrets the the failure of Bush's plan to privatize Social Security? Does anyone wish he or she had invested more of his or her retirement resources in the stock market starting in 2004, rather than being able to rely on receiving some Social Security benefits in the future?

Does Elder truly believe that the scheme to privatize Social Security is one of the choicest planks of the GOP platform in the eyes of black voters? If so, the GOP is even more screwed than I thought.

Ugh.
Bottom line is that dem or repub -- it was an imbecilic thing to do and he deserves all the heat it has caused.

Once You Vote Black
There is no other answer to your question. The only reason that ANYONE would vote for a Democrat is so they don't have to work for anything they receive. Democrats view people as so ignorant, incompetent, or disabled that they will be grateful to the party that provides them goodies...preferably out of the hides of people who work and save to eke out a living for their families. It isn't a condition limited to blacks, though it makes good copy for the Democrats who continue to exploit them.

As usual, Larry nailed it - - -
- - and that the supercilious dingdongs at the head of the inept, wimpy ('n flat-out STUPID)Republican Party should make such uproarious comments when being so marginally/ill informed? Guess that's typical, 'ay? No wonder it's only a shell of its former status. Dubya's "compassionate conservatism(?)" could be better termed Liberal-Lite, and those of the religious right are equally obnoxious inasmuch as the government would have to grow even more to police their proposed laws/innovations like stem-cells, ceasing abortions, gay crap, et al.
Nah - it certainly won't happen in my lifetime, but I hope for a Libertarian type future... IF the silly Libertarian Party shifts gears and refuses the Bob Barr types (he was more of a Republican than the GOP candidate, certainly no Libertarian -- so much for opportunistic stuff).
Awwww, come to think of it, doubt that that will ever happen -- we're being out voted by those who seek "Something-for-Nothing" as our once great nation flushes itself down the toilet.

Now that it's 2009
BHO can finish the job the 2006 Congress began. Together they can continue to wreck the economy, lose the war on terror, and syphon as much of the GDP into their greedy coffers as possible.

ANTHONY BABY

.....Welcome back! ...I thought you were laying low because Obama won the election thanks to the votes of 50% of white voters and that blew your arguement that all whites were racists ...

.....Now you have to attack blacks like Elder who have not drunk the Liberal Kool-aid and are independent thinkers ...

.....Blacks began switching to the Democrat Party during the First Great Depression long before Goldwater and Nixon came on the scene (read my post at 1:10 PM) ...

.....Blacks are Democrats because the Party gives them political clout and a priviledged minority status ...and I can't say that I can blame them for that .....COLOSSUS

A thumping on you mind only
It it helps you sleep at night better you can think of it as a thumping. He won and that's allright but to say it was a landslide/thumping that's stretch. Enjoy the party while it lasts buddy. Already all my forecasts have come true. Russia/Ukraine already fighting with each other, the Palistinians/Israelis at it again. Russia palling around with Cuba/Venezuela, India/Pakistan on the verge of a major conflict. Welcome to the real world Pres.Obama, because the honeymoon is over!!!

Elder still up to his old tricks
I see Mr. Elder is still a racial arsonist, and is still up to his old tricks of intentionally misleading his readers, so pathetic. . I love how he glosses over the southern strategy by inserting a flimsy quote by another racial arsonist Pat Buchannan Almost every example Elder gives of intense racism by Democrats took place before many of the southern white Democrats (or the Dixiecrats) switched to the Republican Party. Many did this because the Republican nominee in 1964, Barry Goldwater, opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 which many white southern Democrats viewed as a threat to segregation.

It is true that African Americans had once supported the Republican Party, but this all changed when politicians like Barry Goldwater, Richard Nixon, and Ronald Reagan appealed to the xenophobic attitudes of the southern white Democrat. Richard Nixon’s campaign strategist Kevin Phillips sums it up in the following quote:

“ From now on, the Republicans are never going to get more than 10 to 20 percent of the Negro vote and they don't need any more than that... but Republicans would be shortsighted if they weakened enforcement of the Voting Rights Act. The more Negroes who register as Democrats in the South, the sooner the Negrophobe whites will quit the Democrats and become Republicans. That's where the votes are. Without that prodding from the blacks, the whites will backslide into their old comfortable arrangement with the local Democrats”

Mr. Elder really needs to stop being intellectually dishonest if he ever wants to be taken seriously as a commentator or writer. Until Mr. Elder presents intellectually honest arguments, he’ll always be considered just another demagogue by those of us who have brains, can critically think, or simply do a google search, lol.

Libs Make It Look Like a Landslide
Obama won due to the economy. McCain/Palin where ahead in September and the economy collapsed in August. So please spare me the change mantra. By Sept, the Obama camp was sweating bullets and hoping for a miracle. The old man and the beauty queen were kicking the pants of the annointed one and you know it. Liberal math: Obama 52%, McCain 48 that's a landslide. Prop 8, 52%/48% and liberals want a recount. He has no mandate and he knows it, why do you think he's willing to go against his own base and move towards the center/right in hot button issues like gay marriage? Because he needs the traditional folks. You liberals are done and Obama will put lipstick on that pig.

Answer to RockNRollForYourSoul
RockNRollForYourSoul: So everyone knows Obama is half Black. And it should be clear to everyone that he has primarily identified with Blacks. Not too hard to understand that.

The well-intended help that liberals have worked to provide to the poor, who have been disproportionally Black, has had unintended consequences and some of that has begun to be addressed such as the welfare system changes that Clinton and a Replican congress worked on in the 90's. Conservatives, both in the Rep and Dem parties, fought against civil rights that Dem. President Johnson signed into law. This triggered so many of the southern conservative Dems to leave the party where there views on equality, separate-but-equal, etc. weren't embraced. You know where they went.

As for liberals being in "favor of Blacks" as you put it, what exactly does that mean? Blacks are not a monolithic group. What liberals have fought for is to have Blacks and all minorities be treated equally under the law (which they were not through more than half of the last century - quite a national disgrace) and to stop other forms of discrimination that kept minorities from living and working where they wanted and getting equal educational opportunities. Some Blacks such as Cosby have issues with other Blacks and those are sensitive arguments. Broad brushes tend to get painted unfairly and some of the charges seem to hit home leaving some hurt. I'm sure that acceptance of Black equality and confronting their prejudices, often criminal, was a hard thing to face for southern conservatives leaving many hurt and some unfairly assumed to be prejudice.

Kenneth
There was a Clinton recession at the end of his term, and there was a Bush recession caused by 9/11.

Also terrorist want to create "terror" - if we were not over there fighting them militarily they would be free to create terror other places.

The evidence is in the last 50 years. The more we ignored them; the more they hit our interests abroad and became increasingly bolder.

The Race card is dead
No longer is that card valid and those who use it are bigots. The Democrats have destroyed the black race, with their welfare they have told the blacks they have to be "taken care of" isn't that what the old slave masters told them. Blacks have had a high rate of abortions which has been encouraged by liberals. Larry is right and the Republicans have refused to set the record straight, which is why they have lost the last two elections. We need new leaders. And, Kenneth, keep on reading TH as your education is sorely lacking.

Can't we all just get along?
Let's stop the fighting here. Soon we'll be magically transported to Camelot 2. The media will spend the next 4-8 year telling us how wonderful our President is. We'll soon be treated to heartwarming pictures of the Presidents kids playing under his desk. We will be treated to news stories with the First Lady sitting in the White House serving tea in her little hat and telling us how she'll redecorate the White House. All will be right with the world. I wonder when the back of my leg will start tingling?

I have no way of knowing what you meant, only what you asserted. Your own reveal your prejucides more starkly than anything I could say.

Kenneth, you are soooo wrong, part 2
Under President Bush the DJIA (Stock Market), with a brief downturn immediately after 9-11, broke the all time record of 14,000 points, no matter how briefly.
http://www.the-privateer.com/chart/dow-long.html

Look closely at the chart and you can't miss the fact that the current downturn started in 2007. Wasn't that the same year that Democrats gained control of both houses of Congess, thus the budget? Why Yes, I believe it was.

THEN, there's the very inconvenient FACT, for your side, that the current total collapse of the economy can be traced directly back to Fannie and FReddie, and the Democrats attempts to not only legislate everything to be "fair" for people(even illegal aliens) wanting to own a home, but also the fact that there are videos of the Democrats regularly blocking efforts to stop the collapse by imposing regulations on Fannie and Freddie AND the banking industry.

Under Bush, this country was attacked on our own soil ONLY ONCE, and he responded by taking the fight back to the people who both did it and/or aided and supported it.
Under Clinton, this country was attacked on our soil(both here and abroad) MULTIPLE times. It's all documented so I'm not going to waste time listing them.
Except for one minor show of retribution, when it was politically expedient for him(during the Lewinsky scandal), Clinton NEVER did squat about it. He even turned down several offers from the Sudan to hand bin Laden over to him on a silver platter.
ALL of this is documented fact.

I'd go on but I don't want to make this a three part post.

Kenneth, you are soooo wrong
1. Did I say anything about Rush Limbaugh in my post? NO, I didn't. So where do you come off ASSuming that I'm a DITTO(not Diddo)head.

2. Your comment, "Bush gets no respect as a result of his record. He messed up," is only HALF true, and that half is on the side of the Republicans/Conservatives(myself inculded) who are disgusted with him for many reasons.
But I'm not going into any of the reasons Republicans are mad at him here.

To say that most Democrats EVER respected him is an outright lie and you know it. They, especially the Democrat leadership and their MSM lapdogs, have been showing him NOTHING BUT OUTRIGHT CONTEMPT since the day the 2000 election was decided in his favor, with a VERY SHORT BREAK in the abuse they were heaping on him for about a week after 9-11.

3. Next you say, "I mean the man tried but if you think about it anything he touched turned to mush."
THAT ALSO IS A LIE.
Had everything he touched "turned to mush" we would have never had the great economy that we've had(not counting the spending on the war) since he got in and got us out of the minor recesson he inherited from the Clinton Administration.

Kenneth
Your composition, grammar and spelling shows you just came out of the ghetto. If you went to college anywhere, you should demand a refund.

You are just the type your 'messiah' conned into voting for him. Uneducated, gang banging trash. You knew no better and I am sorry for people like you who are so easily duped.

Say again, over?

Respect?....

FBO and his redistributionist assault on my family's livelihood!

Dignity?.....What dignity? after the horny hick got himself a lewinsky from the fat broad hiding under the desk I realized that there was not a single shred of dignity left in the office of the president.

Bubba C was the reason I stopped believing in the system and exited the Marine Corps with all possible haste on 10 Nov 2001.

Of course, now that I have completed my conversion to Austro-Libertarian Anarchist (See: Murray Rothbard, or http://www.mises.org), I don't have a dog in this fight (Save for a fervent desire for the destruction of the federal govt & a return to the Articles of Confederation).

Now would this "respect" that you're demanding for our new President be the same "respect" that you Democrats and other looney liberals have been gving President Bush for the LAST EIGHT YEARS?? HMMMM?

I CAN GUARANTEE YOU, RIGHT HERE, that President Obama will get every bit of respect he has given to the constitution during the campaign when he dodged answering questions that are related to his Constitutional qualifications to become the President. You know, where he's STILL refusung to produce a legitimate copy of his birth certificate to prove he was born in Hawaii, and not Kenya as his recently(conveniently) deceased "typical white person" grandmother said.

We'll also give Obama every single bit of the exact same respect that you libs and your media lapdogs gave to President Bush over the last eight years.

Finally, we'll also give Obama every single bit as much RESPECT that he has given to children who survived abortion attempts during his time as an Illinois State Senator.

Only WE won't throw him into a closet or a dirty hamper to die alone and in severe pain as he made sure that the children who survived abortions were, with his refusal to support the B.A.I.P.A. while in Illinois.

Is that enough "respect" for us to give Obama?

Packrat from KY?
What year are you talking about? 1870 maybe?
Do you know what reconstruction was in the South?
Dont you know that the South was totally conservative after the unCivil War. You talk about hanging on to what you have, Man. You talk about living lean, no money, no food, no work. The so called Republicans impeached Johnson so that the carpet bagger plan of 'reconstruction' could go forward. There has been no more of a 'liberal' plan in the country than the Republican Party Reconstruction. Yeah the K was agin it. You would be too if you are a Conservative. Now you know why most blacks distrust the GOP. Google that.

I will not sleep a wink tonight worried about what you think of me and my predjudices. Have you ever heard...if the shoe fits...wear it?

I know you are not so stupid as to not understand what I meant. Maybe you should read my post...s-l-o-w-l-y. I was not referring to the election. I was referring to your sides' propaganda machine. A 24/7 anti-conservative ad agency.

Rowly
Your post is a perfect example of what I was saying earlier.

You assert that less educated blacks are taken in by the Dems, while savy blacks see through them. 90 plus percent of blacks vote Democrat, so what you are saying, with the broadest of brushes, is that 90% of the black population is uneducated.

That type of stereotype, along with the prevailing notion, at least among posters here, that blacks are also lazy welfare recipients is what gives this story weight. It exposes what conservatives really think about 9 out of 10 black people, and it's invariably negative.

Hypocrisy, Thy Name Is Liberal
Anytime anything has to do with color and Republicans, the trolls crawl out of the sewers and start piling on. Tonight is a prime example.

Democrats and their lapdogs, the mainstream media have done everything in their power to play the race card at Republicans expense for years. Less educated blacks are taken in by you,but savvy blacks see right through you.

You have a one-third black man almost president. You can't use it any more. It won't work. Blacks are not victims. In a few years whites will be the minority. Will you grovel and lie for us or is it just color you fight for? It's not the fight you want,it is to put an end to any opposition to you.

If there is anything more despicable than a hypocrite,I don't know what it is. Oh yeah,it's an lying, sneaking hypocrite. Just like some of these low-down,dirty,bottom-feeding posters.

JAG CA
There is a world of difference between the two examples.

In the case of Wright, whatever conclusions you draw from his association, it is just that an association. At best one can draw an implicit endorsement on Obama's part.

In the case of the Magic Negro parody, a GOP party heavyweight in the running to become the head of the committee that is the public face of the GOP explicitly endorses what is in the video.

As I stated earlier, why this is so damning for the GOP is because is jibes with the prevailing image, right or wrong, of the GOP as being the party of racial insensitivity.

Some Republicans need to learn...
to treat our President with respect.

Too bad you forgot to say those words over the last eight years. Except substitute Democrats for Republicans in the statement. Democrats, some even on the floor of Congress such as Dick Durbin, have called him Hitler. Others have called him Chimpy, and a variety of other names. Compared to the way Dems have treated President Bush, "Magic Negro" is a term of endearment.

Obama is the President and he will get my support in that position provided he does the right things for the nation. Those do not include putting her in danger, allowing terrorists to walk all over her, and restarting the Great Depression by failed fiscal policies. But I will not resort to the vacuous name calling which has characterized liberal discourse for the last 8 years.

Democrat party
Has always been the party of hypocrites, liars, thugs and racists.

Just read what they come here to say and the evidence is clear

Selbourne
Love your satire.....

Why I oppose Obama
And what has the Democratic Party done for blacks in the last 50 years? Get them hooked on entitlement programs so blacks will keep voting Democratic. It's the ol' "keep 'em down so you can boost 'em up" strategy. Yes, there are things about Obama to admire -- his ingenuity, for example -- but there's also much to wonder about -- his tutelage under black radicals, for example. I'm not sure this country ever before showed so much support for someone we knew so little about and who had such a short track record. These are the things that concern me. I have no problem voting for a black, hispanic, women ... whatever. My opposition to Obama has nothing to do with racism or bigotry, but with his questionable ties and ideas.

Parody be damned
The issue is simple. Some Republicans need to learn to treat our new President with respect. He has earned it. The prestige and dignity of our nation requires it.
So quit writing a lot of irrelevant crap. Just don't repeat this impertinence. It cannot be justified.

Racism & Obama
Obama was born to a family of modest means without political influence. He won scholarships ending up at Harvard where he became the first African American editor of the prestigious Law Review. On graduation he had multiple lucrative job offers but he chose to work as a Community Organizer empowering the poor to fight for their needs and rights. He worked himself up through a corrupt political system without becoming part of it. He led the most disciplined and innovative political campaigns in the history of the country. He enunciated certain principles at the start of his campaign and stuck to them, resisting any temptation to get down into the dirt with Clinton, Palen and McCain.
He is a good husband and devoted father. I have a picture of Michelle on stage looking at him with an expression of love and admiration that few of us ever see from those who know us well. I have watched this man over two stressful years of competition. I have seen him keep his composure and rise to challenges that threatened disaster. I have listened to the speech he made to his campaign staff when he won the nomination.
Over two stressful years "He nothing did common or mean". He would not sell his soul even for the Presidency. (Young people sensed this and flocked to him by the millions.)Here is a man for all seasons.
But many Republicans writing here evidently see nothing to admire. Some of us attribute this blindness to bigotry and racism. Some say you are simply too cynical and amoral to get it.

No$

At least google about the KKK before you make comments.

"A year after the creation of the KKK, the onetime social club joined the ...campaign against the Republican Reconstruction."

Sounds like opposition to GOP to me.

Re: Libs
As usual, the libs on this site (in this case, "joe" and "Mike D2") have lost the plot. Yes, joe, I'm a closet gay, just don't tell my wife and daughter. And if there's any leather around wherever you are, use it to whip yourself until you learn to stay on topic. Mr. Mike, the points I addressed didn't directly relate to the parody in particular, but to the topic of "blackness" in general. If you'd like to address any of the points I made, fine; if not, conserve energy by not writing anything.

bonds...hmm...

"Last but not least, why is it that liberals are "in favor" of blacks ... except when blacks such as Elder and Bill Cosby speak the truth? (Sorta like how liberals are "in favor" of homosexuals ... except when those who've escaped the bonds of homosexuality speak against it.)"

Little freudian slip there my friend? Perhaps another closeted gay Repub? Try speaking to a gay man about bonds and see where the conversation goes...probably to the nearest leather bar...

Cons don't get it
Who just doesn't get it? Read the original LA Time article. Then read the song parody lyrics and listen to it. The parody presents the authors (and I would guess Limbaugh's) interpretaion that adds much more to the description of the so-called Magic Negro and especially to those it implies are not magic. The paraody stands and offends on it's own. Don't bother commenting if you haven't read both in their entirety.

test
test

Liberals just don't get it
I feel the need to first point out what so many have forgotten or chosen to ignore: Obama isn't America's first black president; he's America's first HALF-black president. Second, liberals not only forget (as Elder points out) all the good that Republicans have done for blacks; they also have the warped notion that keeping blacks dependent on government (via welfare, etc.) constitutes "help" (though it does constitute help for Dems -- helps them win votes). Last but not least, why is it that liberals are "in favor" of blacks ... except when blacks such as Elder and Bill Cosby speak the truth? (Sorta like how liberals are "in favor" of homosexuals ... except when those who've escaped the bonds of homosexuality speak against it.)

Another nail in the GOP coffin
Elder can spin this however he likes, the proof is in the pudding. For all his rhetoric, much of it twisted, the fact remains that America's first black President was put forth as a candidate by the Democrats, this while there is not one black GOP lawmaker in DC, nor has there been one since 2002.

The damage here is done. Whatever defense the GOP tries this episode has re-enforced the image of the GOP as the party of exclusion, narrow-mindedness, and racial insensitivity.

Perception is what matters
Enough excuses for Chip Saltsman being an idiot.

It doesn't matter one damn bit, who said what, when, where, or what the intent was...

Saltsman gave a box of ammunition to Democrat activists to brand the RNC and Republicans as racists.

Saltsman IS insensitive, not only to blacks, but to how he and our party are going to be perceived. I don't want an idiot like that speaking for us.

Nazis are liberal says conservative.
democrats founded the KKK? oh lawd! more smack from a delusional. The KKK was out there with the Nazis - way right out there. Sullivan @ Atlantic will catch this one in his net for "stupid of the year". Too bad we'll have to wait 365 days to find out.

Last Nail? yes, Powel...HA!
"THE definitive last nail in the coffin of the Repub Party."

Colin Powell is not all THAT.

No, the last nail was the arrogance of the party leadership at ignoring the base and moving ever leftward.

There has been no appreciable difference between democrat and republican for YEARS.

The hammer in that nail was the media's nomination of John "the maverick" McCain. Anyone who says "Bipartisan" that much can't possibly be on the home team.

But I won't waste any effort on either party. I want the whole federal government to collapse under the weight of its own crushing debt and bloated bureaucracy.

Anarchist that I am, I long for small (read: tiny/minuscule/microscopic), decentralized (state/county/city/community-sized) sovereign nations.

Back to the Subject
Clarence Thomas, Colin Powell, etc are topics for your own rants or blogs. The topic here is that the black guy got elected because blacks vote Democrat against their beliefs about abortion, family values, etc. This has been engineered by the Dems, by having 7 out of 10 black babies born to unwed mothers, about 80% of which are on welfare. The black woman is afraid to vote against the "paycheck" she is getting from the government.

All this being said, BO is entering office with a 76% approval rating (larger than either Reagan or GWB) and will be there for four years (look at his line of succession --that is full of incompetent boobs from Joe through Nancy, Robert KKK, to Hillary).

It is really funny that clowns like Joe rant against Clarence Thomas, but give Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, William Jefferson, and Cynthia McKinney a pass. Sounds to be like party bias, not belief in competency.

WOW

"...Wilson & Roosevelt who also ignored the constitution & sent hundreds of thousands of young men to die for american empire."

funny that's just what Hitler said

Colin Powell: Dem Hero

"And which party put Condi Rice, Colin Powell, or Clarence Thomas in their positions?"

Condi runs State, which any good Repub will tell you is a wing of the Communist Party. Clarence Thomas is the worst and most incompetent SCJ since Roger Taney.

And Colin Powell? I'm surprised you can force your fingers to type that name. His 7 minute rant on Meet The Press on Oct 19 against McCain, Bush and the Repubs is one for the ages and was definitely the most forceful and siginificant endorsement Obama ever received. It was THE definitive last nail in the coffin of the Repub Party.

I remember when I lived in solid red Orange County Ca in the mid-90's seeing a mile-long line at CostCo for a Powell book signing...wonder how many of those got tossed in the fireplace after that Meet The Press..I would guess most of them.

"And although David Duke ran as a Republican, he did not have the support of the party."

He won a Louisiana State Legislature seat, which means he did in fact have the support of the party.

How does Obama feel about
all this magic negro stuff? Was he offended when the Ehrenstein article ran in the LA Times? If anything the parody seems a little childish, but certainly not any more mean spirited than some of SNL's skits of Sarah Palin. I'd say if (in) 3 or 4 years from now, that is the worst sort of stuff people are saying about Obama, then we are going to be in pretty good shape. Surely we can find more important things to worry ourselves over than this.

Old Joe
"he was lying"..."2 greatest american presidents"

Lincoln was a mass murdering dictator who was responsible for the deaths of 300,000+ of my ancestor's countrymen (plus assorted union folks), jailed upwards of 30,000 of his own countrymen without so much as a writ of habeas corpus just for disagreeing with the war (jailing them, ironically, in fort McHenry), shut down newspapers & destroyed the presses of anti-war media types...all to collect taxes.

Yeah...Lincoln was great wasn't he.

And right along with him are Wilson & Roosevelt who also ignored the constitution & sent hundreds of thousands of young men to die for american empire.

These men deserve to be dug up and dumped unceremoniously at the bottom of the ocean. If ever there was call for crimes to warrant "corruption of blood..." these men rate it(along with Admiral Stark & General Marshall).

The names of Lincoln, Wilson & Roosevelt are as desirable as Stalin, Mao, Hitler and Mussolini.

Poitier the Magic Negro
Random reminder that "Magic Negro" Sidney Poitier -- along with Harry Belafonte -- was once chased by a klan caravan along the dark back roads of rural Mississippi on a late night visit to boost the morale of isolated Civil Rights workers. Betting it's a tad more than that LA Times columnist ever did for the cause of Civil Rights.

And which party put Condi Rice, Colin Powell, or Clarence Thomas in their positions?

And although David Duke ran as a Republican, he did not have the support of the party.

Lincoln: Political Genius

"I, as well as Judge Douglas, am in favor of the race to which I belong having the superior position. I have never said anything to the contrary." Lincoln, Aug. 21, 1858, in remarks stating his belief that blacks were naturally inferior to whites."

He was lying. FDR got re-elected, and got the draft reinstated, after promising never to get involved in foreign wars. He lied too. 2 greatest American Presidents? Lincoln and FDR.

"I cannot make it better known than it already is that I favor colonization." Lincoln, in a message to Congress, December 1, 1862, supporting deportation of all blacks from America.

He quickly dropped it after Frederick Douglas straightened him out.

The other stuff you're ranting about is incomprehensible.

Chip Saltsman should apologize.
And he should apologize for pure and unadulterated stupidity. The context and useage of the funny parody is important. When Rush uses it, the parody is explained and is funny. Chip Saltsman distributed it for reasons unknown to anyone but him, but it was an effort to promote ascendancy to the chairmanship of the RNC. Chip Saltsman is tone deaf and a discredit to the Republican Party. I would imagine that he is the kind of fellow who would also try to promote apparent bigots such as Huckleberry.

Puff-obama the magician...

And I would only hope that this "hiatus" from talk radio is an indicator of his decision to throw his hat into the "political ring"!
We need someone esp. a black-american ,who is not afraid to take on,the MSM,bleeding-heart liberals, and most important "Victi-crat American-born blacks"!!!
BHO-puff dragon has svengalied the MSM, who in turn hypnotized 52 million people into voting for him.

State-sponsored historians deify Lincoln as "the martyred Christ of democracy's passion play"

Lincoln’s own words:
"If I do that, what would become of my revenue? I might as well shut up housekeeping at once!" Lincoln, in response to the suggestion by the Virginian Commissioners to abandon the custom house of Fort Sumter. In other words, taxing consumers to subsidize special interests, or what we would call today, corporate welfare.

"But what am I to do in the meantime with those men at Montgomery [meaning the Confederate constitutional convention]? Am I to let them go on... [a]nd open Charleston, etc, as ports of entry, with their ten-percent tariff. What, then, would become of my tariff?" Lincoln to Colonel John B. Baldwin, deputized by the Virginian Commissioners to determine whether Lincoln would use force, April 4, 1861

Lincoln was a tax and spender, and loved the Union because it would allow him to tax the South to spend on "internal improvements" in the North.

"The whole nation is interested that the best use shall be made of these territories. We want them for the homes of free white people." Lincoln, on whether blacks (slave or free)should be allowed in the new territories in the west, October 16, 1854.

"I, as well as Judge Douglas, am in favor of the race to which I belong having the superior position. I have never said anything to the contrary." Lincoln, Aug. 21, 1858, in remarks stating his belief that blacks were naturally inferior to whites

"Root, hog, or die" Lincoln's suggestion to illiterate and propertyless ex-slaves unprepared for freedom, Feb. 3, 1865.

"I cannot make it better known than it already is that I favor colonization." Lincoln, in a message to Congress, December 1, 1862, supporting deportation of all blacks from America.

"[Lincoln] had not a drop of anti-slavery blood in his veins." William Lloyd Garrison.

Klansman David Duke: Republican

"Democrats founded the Ku Klux Klan -- some even call it the "terrorist wing of the Democratic Party." And a greater percentage of Republicans than Democrats voted for the Civil Rights Act of 1964."

Because racists switched party allegiances after LBJ dumped them.

You might get away with that BS here with the fact-and-history-free TH crowd, but anywhere else you'd get laughed off the stage. The South went from being solidly Dem to solidly Repub after the '64 CRA you mention. Gee I wonder why.

American Girl1650
That is the half that got him elected ( albeit fraudulently),so yes, that is the important half. Not really half...more like a third, but had he not had that third,he would still community organizing in Chicago with Ayers and Blagojevich.

That small part assured him that no one would touch him and he would be home free no matter who ran against him. Even the mighty Clintons were no match for the Magic Negro.

Anti-Slavery was Statist?

"Yet, if you study its history, you'll see that the republican party (a reincarnation of the American Whig party) was statist to the core from the beginning, founded on the mercantilist ideologies of Hamilton & Clay."

Yet the first Repub Governor, Chase from Ohio, was a radical abolitionist, and the first Repub Prez...well, we all know how that turned out.

"...all those opposed to the extension of slavery found their new home in what eventually became the Republican Party..." pg 181, Team of Rivals (paperback). Opposing new states from becoming slave states does not seem to me "statist to the core".

The arrogance of the republican party
is surpassed only by its ignorance and cowardice. They'll probably start issuing after-action reports that include bogus conclusions like "we weren't progressive enough."

The last good democrat was Martin Van Buren, the last good republican was senator Robert Taft.

Since then the democrats have been infiltrated by the spreading viral filth of collectivism.

Yet, if you study its history, you'll see that the republican party (a reincarnation of the American Whig party) was statist to the core from the beginning, founded on the mercantilist ideologies of Hamilton & Clay.

The very first republican president (that mass-murdering, dictatorial monster Abraham Lincoln) waged an illegal war in order to retain the tax base for his corporate welfare plans.

Senator Taft & others like him (John T. Flynn, Garet Garrett, H.L. Mencken et al) were aberrations within the republican party.

Washington has borrowed so much (worthless, fiat) currency from the federal reserve corporation that the interest alone guaranteed that my children were obligated to pay the debt before they were even born. A classic example of "taxation without representation."

What is a free nation for your children worth? Is it worth giving up a mercedes? or are you willing to water the tree of liberty with the blood of tyrants and patriots to give your children a free country?

Most of you are so fixated on violet sports, recreational drugs (alcohol & tobacco), and the source of your next sexual encounter that the most you'll ever do is whine about taxes and come to TH to blow off a little steam while your sovereign state is destroyed by a tyrannical national authority.

You deserve what you get.

Gestelle
If, as you say, "As for "plantation," this is conservative shorthand for what is alleged to be the consequences of liberal views on race and liberal policies such as public assistance." is true, then why did Senator Clinton use the term?

Don't Ask Questions
The reason no one would question Obama about his background or any of his criminal compadres was because he told them right off he would not tolerate questions like that.

The spineless Republicans, let him dictate what could and could not be demanded of him. He played the race card at every point. Daring, yet hoping, some Republican would fall for his ploy.

He need not have bothered. No Republican with any clout would touch him. He was toxic. You have to have a backbone to buck the trend and they have none.

The mainstream media put him in a cocoon and coddled him and babied him. Never asking him one relevant question. All the while condemning Sarah Palin just for being alive. John McCain was shameless in his treatment of Obama and Palin. For opposite reasons.

IT'S PARTY TIME!!!! The Republican Party does not deserve us. They've done nothing for us. They love political correctness more than they do winning. Name your party and count me in!!

Why didn't the black "leadership" like O
I find it comforting that the likes of the revs Jessie Jackson and his ilk find Obama is offensive to their cause. As Lary Elder pointed out, Obama's election scotches their whole reason for being. No longer can the Jacksons and his ilk blackmail and intimidate white society, their whole reason for being is minimized, putting a serious crimp in their "income."

ROWDY BOOTS

Does anyone else find it ironic
that BHO is all about being black when he solicits 98% of the black vote ...

.. but that anyone else who notices is racist?

True, but ...
You could pretty much predict this was going to happen and that Republicans would have to defend themselves - even if the charges are phony. It could have been easily avoided by simply leaving the song off the CD.

It ain't fair, but it's real.

When WILL the GOP stand up ...
to the Democrats on the issue of race?

Good question.

A better question is why the GOP chose NOT to force Obama to validate that he is qualified to be POTUS ubder Article II Section I of the United States Constutution.

There is an answer and it is not good.

The GOP would like to run that FACIST GOVERNEOR of Calleeefornia for POTUS at some point.

And since Arnold is a NATURALIZED citizen of the US with dual-citizenship status, he cannot run for POTUS.

No problem. Elect BHO, and when it FINALLY is apparent that BHO is NOT elegible because he is NOT a natural born citizen, the door will be open for Arnold.

What the DEMS don't get is that you have been jobbed by Obama and the DNC.

Meanwhile, many RePubs secretly want to elect Arnold even thouhg he is NOT pro-life, NOT small government, NOT lower taxes, NOT anything CONSERVATIVE at all.

But he is a son of a Hitler-youth, boob grabbing, hollywood macho FACIST.And there are many REPubs who want facism under the guise of law and order. So do many Democrats which is why they love Obama - he is a facist.

AND last but not least Arnold is by marriage a KENNEDY. So the Kennedy dynasty remains intact ... they pick Obama, they choose Arnold and we the people get micro-chip implants.

Better start memorizing your name, rank, and serial number, and getting your "papers" in order.

Here comes Arnold.

Thanks DEMS for electing a fraud for POTUS, but you'll live to regret it.

Reeking Taint of Obamanation Coronation

One thing is sure in all this, and it is poetic justice of clearly historical [and possibly Biblical] proportions:

Grandstand master Harry Reid and his merry band of comrades in Congress and the media, with their self-aggrandizing pontifications, pronunciations, and officiating have most assuredly and resolutely locked in the "stench of corruption" that will be bellowing up from the robes of their earthly and erstwhile "messiah's" pay-to-play [with America's future] inaugural coronation.

All during the election cycle, nose-plugs, ear-plugs, and blinders firmly in place, smiling and fainting Barack "The Magic Negro" sycophants dancing and prancing, swirling in the opiate stupor brought on by chants of, "Yes we can, Yes we can," ignored the odious and repugnant empyreal stench of corruption that seemed to emanate from their savior's manger of the mangy endodermis.

But in the midst of their savior's empty enunciations, rather than perform any emunctory evacuation of the offending organ, they simply & quickly readjusted their nose plugs and continued to enjoy their ride on the jerkwater train of Obamanation; lifted into a stuporous euphoria that soon Xmas would, indeed, arrive.

Sadly, and prophetically, the stench & and taint of corruption surrounding this Inaugural [thanks to Barack Hussein Obama's "careful choices in friends" in Chicago, Washington, D.C., and the newsrooms of AP & Reuters], will fill the air and the "airwaves" for all the world to smell.

Rick Warren had best be wary that he doesn't walk away from that podium in mid-January, himself, reeking of the scent of the Obamanation he has agreed to pray over, and in need of some spiritual fumigation, himself.

reply to RichD
Educate me about my liberal fuzzy thinking. Goldwater's priorities as a conservative allowed him to trade off equal rights for blacks against his principles and his understanding of the Constitution. Put more plainly than most conservatives are comfortable with, Goldwater's position was that states (from the "states rights" doctrine) were within their powers to maintain racial segregation. Goldwater might deplore such segregation, but he saw no Constitutional way to address it. In practical terms, he was willing to let states continue to enforce racial segregation, which means that his belief in its evil was, shall we say, lukewarm at best.

By the way, "states rights" in the political terminology of the 1950s/60s was universally understood as support for racial segregation. It was so used by every Southern politician and conservative polemicist of that era.

As for "plantation," this is conservative shorthand for what is alleged to be the consequences of liberal views on race and liberal policies such as public assistance. Why you mention that in connection with my post--which said nothing about liberal public assistance policies--eludes me. I guess you were slinging mud and ran out of things you thought might stick.

Gestell is also true, but irrelevant.
However, his analysis is untrue and irrelevant. The conservatives were never opposed to equal rights, just preferences based on skin tone, as was Dr. King. Goldwater's opposition was based on principle and the Constitution.

Actually, I take that back - Gestell's relevance is to illuminate by example the fuzzy thinking of liberal blindness. What passed for "conservatism" in liberal circles is conserving their plantation of power by artificial divisions and class warfare.

Thanks A Lot,Larry.
It is sad when Mr.Elder is about the only person who sees this little joke as what it is:a joke. I appreciate that he will stand up for his fellow conservatives.

The Republican Party is a shameful crowd, for the most part. They have no spine to fight back about anything.

They act like a mistreated dog....scold him and he will slink away with his feelings hurt, then come back for more of the same.

I,for one am so tired of the media and many blacks, who are the real racists ,making a big deal out of race, when that is what their side thrives on.

THEY are the ones who see the color of a persons skin in every thought and deed. Look at Rep Bobby Rush, the ex-Black Panther, who said a couple of weeks ago, that Blago could not appoint someone to take Obama's place.

That was when he was afraid a white would be picked. Now the same ex-Black Panther is saying,Blago's pick, Burris ,must be seated because he is black.

This how the Democrats see EVERYTHING. It's color, color, color! Sickening,I tell you sickening!!! Stand up and fight,Republicans ! You are shameful in your cowardice!!

Conservative Disinformation
Mr. Elder trades on a piece of political deception beloved by conservatives when he writes that more Republicans than Democrats voted for the 1964 Civil Rights. True, but irrelevant, because the Republican Party in Congress in that era was a diverse party, with a strong liberal/moderate wing. Present-day style conservatives were not predominant in the party then, and, as conservatives should know, Barry Goldwater, one of the very few genuine conservatives, voted against the bill.

Now I'll turn to Elder's recitation of the history of "Democratic" Southern racist politics. Again, true, but irrelevant. What conservatives simply don't choose to grasp is that racist Southern Democrats were CONSERVATIVE Democrats. The CONSERVATIVE position was to maintain racial segregation. Such Democrats dominated the Democratic party in Congress, and the Democrats would only become primarly a liberal party in Congress much later.

A side bar: Most conservatives don't choose to learn that the conservative media of the day--"National Review" and "Human Events"--were consistently opposed to both the goals and the tactics of the civil rights movement, as well as the various federal court decisions and other actions directed against the racist policies of the conservative South.

Interesting story
I had a friend in college who was black and decided on a career in business. He did not do as well as he had hoped but we kept in touch occasionally and updated each other on our families and careers. He wasn't very political but to the extent he paid attention to politics, he was a Democrat.

After several years, I got a Christmas card from him that indicated he was the Republican county clerk in the small county where he lived in Oklahoma. I had to call him the next day to find out how that happened.

He told me he had gone to the county's Democratic Party and figuratively found the butt-kissing line stretching out the door, down the block and around the corner. When he went to the Republicans, they immediately moved him to the head of the line, put out a press release about him joining the party and urged im to run for office to whow how tolerant they were.

He took them up on it and got elected to a great job that involved no politics whatsever and laughed all the way to the bank. Therre wasn't much political, after all, about issuing marriage licenses and drivers licenses.

Maybe he was a "magic Negro" too?

Thanks for the truth
Now if we could just get the Republicans to use your article to talk about race we might get the real truth out.

I was in Alabama when G. Wallace tried to stop a young black girl from attending my junior high school. It was all a big show for the media. She didn't come that day and the next day the cops were gone, the national guard was gone and the student was in school, accepted by the 340 students in the school. Granted it was in Huntsville, in 1963 but even daughters of engineers need to go to school and most of the students were from military families and had black friends on base as well as off base. But we never had an issue except with the Democrat Principal who was for sure a racist. I was proud to have stood up to him even if I was only 12 years old. We did a good thing. A bunch of conservative republicans. Goldwater carried the county in Huntsville in 1964

Obama
Before the election, a liberal friend of mine claimed that Obama would never be elected because there are too many racists in America. He left unspoken that anyone who would not vote for Obama was a racist. Well, I thought to myself, how about what he stands for? He doesn't stand for the principles and values I adhere to.

Full Disclosure?

At some point it may serve him well to remind the USA he's half white. From what I've read, reading bloggers research, and doing my own, his family tree is useful - possibly one to brag about.

Truth is Outed!
Finally, what has been known all along, has been written about by a responsible author and writer, member of a community of pundits usually given to self serving comments, platitudes and self agrandizment, media pleasing type articles.

When the truth is outed, especially in USA, individuals, organizations and groups with "axes to grind" (having thier hatred and vulnerabilities exposed) usually agitate and react in predictable ways. Always, attack the messenger. "They" with thier vulnerabilities exposed, will defend to the hilt, planned secularization of the Country...with lies, personal attacks, deliberate obfuscations.

"And the Beat Goes on..." (Sonny & Cher)

Lie by Lie, with patience and tenacity, will all be "outed."

Magic Negro-Gate?
It's important not to be taken in by all the race baiting going on...very counter-productive. Why stoke the fires of racism when bigger issues are at stake like the disintegration of the country's infrastucture and economy.

Madame, I think you need to adjust your medication. It is NOT the GOP that has been fear-mongering, race-baiting, and filling the government with sleaze; it is the Democrats. Trumped up issues such as alleged homosexual acts in airport bathrooms or contractor kickbacks to fix privatat homes in Alaska are PEANUTS to what the Democrats do. I would have you remember (lest you forget; the (now in jail) Mayor of Detroit (lying about an affair with a staffer), the former governor of New York (snagged in a prostitution ring), as Senator from Louisiana (with $90,000 in his freezer) and - who could forget - a president impeached for betraying the trust of an intern. The Party of Lincoln, the Party of Martin Luther King, the party of civility and limited government is not far behind and on your heels. I always am reminded, when I fear more hateful sploooge from your side, that one never knows what kind of legislator you get when you vote in a Republican, but you always get a self-centered, meathead in a Democrat!

"The White Party"...

Like Barack, tens of millions of Americans are multi-racial. Barack is half Black and half White. Barack places the word 'Black' first by choice, and ignores the word 'White' by choice.

I am part African, Native American, Arab, Slavic, and Irish (and more).

If I list my nationalities in the above order, I'm a 'Non-White' minority according to Democrats. Reverse the order and I'm 'Only' White according to the Democrats.

Which all leads me to believe that the color of one's skin means the most to Democrats, and Barack in particular. So much for Reverend King's message.

Good luck on race relations :-)

Dems Keep Blacks in Bondage
If you think about the make up of the black community, most but not all, are poor, uneducated, crime ridden, and overly dependent on government. This has all been orchestrated at the hands of the democratic policy. Yet, the "black" community continues to put there faith in the democratic party if for no other reason than the dems label conservatives as racists. But when you listen to dems speak they are the ones who compartmentalize groups (i.e. race, wealth, gender, ect.). Moreover, the dem promise that all will get better, but after 50 years of squandering the black community I hope that a lesson can be learned, and more minorities realize that conservatives are not an exclusive group. We do not want to keep anyone out who believe in conservative principles, which most blacks do (see the voting record for prop 8). The only group, and I mean the only group we want to keep out are moderates (closet libs) and full blown libs. to all else WELCOME...

WHY BLACKS VOTE FOR DEMOCRATS
.....LISA ...

.....BLACKS BEGAN DESERTING THE GOP DURING THE GREAT DEPRESSION ...

.....When blacks, who had been in their own private depression since the days of reconstruction, were joined by millions of whites in the soup kitchens and hobo camps, help from FDR's Administration seemed a good enough reason to vote for the Democrat Party ...

.....The following excerpts are from "The Great Depression" by Robert S. McElvaine ...

..."In the midterm elections of 1934, a majority of black voters cast their ballots for Democrats for the first time." ...

..."Let Jesus lead you and Roosevelt feed you," a black preacher advised his congregation in 1936" ...

..."Abraham Lincoln," the Baltimore Afro-American reminded its readers, "Is not a candidate." Franklin Roosevelt was and won an incredible 76 per cent of the black vote, roughly reversing the outcome of four years earlier". ...

.....LBJ sealed the deal for the Black vote in 1964 and even though blacks might be socially conservative ...they are not big on smaller government and spending money on National Defense ...these are the facts and it is a tough nut for the GOP to crack .....COLOSSUS

Why all the hate?
The GOP lost big in the last election.
The reality of the current situation in America is that everyone woke up and stopped drinking the lying fear mongering republican kool-aid.
The GOP has all but destroyed the USA and its time a President with intelligence to get things back on track.
Side note - I really appreciate all of the Bush/Cheney McCain/Palin bumper stickers left on your cars. It helps the rest of the world know your an idiot - keep them on until the bumper falls off!

Bush and Katrina

As for Bush and Katrina, I really don't see how much more than what was done, could have been done. Nothing like this had ever happened, except for Betsy on a smaller scale and in the same area--the 9th ward. I hate the way the media will twist the facts and how the rest of the country swallows it all up.

Here are the facts about Katrina: Betsy flooded that area ON SEPT. 9, 1965. People knew this could happen again. Some even had axes in their attics in case it happened again. The warning announcement to leave for Katrina was given in plenty of time. Enough time for people to take their cars and travel 600 miler or more but instead they brought the cars to higher(?) ground and went back to their homes so the cars wouldn't flood(but they did anyway). Why not leave instead? There were old homes and nice homes in the 9th ward.
People stayed because they WANTED to stay. Money was not the problem for most of them. (as evidenced by the nice homes, cell phones--not jobless people). THEY MADE THEIR DECISION TO STAY, BUT BLAMED SOMEONE ELSE.THESE WERE MOSTLY BLACK PEOPLE)These able bodied people with jobs could have helped their older or poorer neighbors, but they didn't.

I guess what they wanted was to be physically taken somewhere and housed and fed for free. So thats what happened with Gustav of 2008. They were boarded on trains and buses, given food, snacks, water for the trip and then
housed and fed for free until they could get a free trip back home. One woman was interviewed on TV had decided to take the bus at the last minute because she had a car and was on her way out of the city in her car but decided waiting in traffic and driving herself was too much trouble. So she let the tax payers pay her trip out of harms way.
What is wrong with people that they think the government has to do everything for them and at no cost?
I know we are in for more of the same with Obama.

Name calling
I learned as a young girl(and I'm sure all of you have) that you just ignore name calling. I have never seen so much whining(mostly Democrats) over a word that may be dated but certainly not offensive. If that is offensive, then so is caucasian. In my lifetime, blacks have gone through 4 different names. What a fickle group!
With the way Obama seems to be likening himself to John Kennedy and Abraham Lincoln, his worshippers need to be worried not about the word Negro, but someone who likens themselves to John Wilkes Booth or Lee Harvey Oswald.

Selbourne
You may be right about the make-up of the speeches and convention, but that fact is a little misleading at best. With that information you also have to consider that during this election, Barack was the Democrat Candidate and many blacks would not go to a Republican activity lest they be labeled "Tom" for not automatically endorsing their chosen candidate. Do you remember all the flack about Colin Powell and Condi? I don't know many blacks, even though I do know many that are republican, that would have endured that criticism.
And for the record, I would address any of my elders as sir, no matter the racial make-up.
It's called "respect". What a novel concept.

Republicans are not Racist
I am sure all Republicans are not racists. But you will have to admit this is an easy mistake to make.
Take a look at the racial composition of so many of Sarah Palen's rallies. Most were one hundred percent white cheering frantically as she denounced Obama for associating with terrorists and insinuated he was not a REAL AMERICAN. The only black man I noticed at a McCain rally addressed John McCain humbly as "Sir" and begged him to attack Barrack more ferociously. He came across as a McCain employee.
Then take a look at video of the Republican convention. Examine the racial composition.

So that's the visual message that helps to promote this horrible mistake. In another post I will deal with the policy message.

JAG CA
Here in Tennessee, you may be surprised that we find the term "ignorant hillbilly" to be degrading, insulting and politically incorrect.

We prefer to be know as "Republicans."

Thanks for letting me straighten this out.

Barack the Magic Negro...
...is mild compared to some of the things the left has said about Republicans. Once again they show they can dish it out but they can't take it. As usual, from the left we get "Wah! Wah! Wah!" Poor babies.

Barack the magic negro
Barack the magic negro froliced by the sea,
In the land of Kaneohe the state of Hawaii.

While Ken the poet he hailed from Tennessee,
an wouldn't you know it he was an ole donkey.

Ken the ignorant hillbilly he comes from Tennessee,
He may be very silly but can't help his imbecilicy.

Barack the Magic Negro
wasn't the best of the parodies. I thought the "Banking Queen" starring Barney Frank was much better....

Never reported fact of Katrina
I was in a caravan of National Guard troops the day after Katrina that was stopped at the Louisiana/Mississippi border for two days awaiting Gov. Blanco's permission to enter the state. I was a contractor, so I didn't have to wait and went back to Texas where my work was appreciated and assisted in the Rita recovery. Gov Perry didn't delay a second to allow out of state National Guard troops in. I still can't figure out how it was GWB's fault when it was the Governor of Louisiana who delayed the rescue effort. Among the National Guard troops were also out of state firemen, ambulances and various other rescue workers....

To Mr. Elder's point
It is bad enough that Republicans are so easily mis-labeled as racists by Democrats and that any action that is aimed at curbing out of control spending is immediately described as targeting the poor, the children and especially blacks.

What is worse is that Republicans immediately go into defensive mode, condemn their own on baseless allegations and institute a "purge" of their ranks for the most innocent infraction. Republicans follow the lead of Martin Luther King, it is not the color of a man's skin, it is his character. They have no reason other than cowardice to allow themselves to be used as racial whipping boys.

The first Republican that has the "audacity" to stand against this campaign of perpetual intimidation will be the next leader of both conservatives and the Republican Party.

Larry, write on this one....
...on when the Democratic Party 'became' the party of the Blacks. This election reflected that people voted for a person they liked because they saw him as youthful & hip (American Idol vote?), because he was black, because they think the Dem. Party represents blacks, and because they are uneducated in the history of the Dem & Rep parties and on basic economic and political terms and policies. We need to educate citizens, especially the youth with the real truth so they'll not buy into what they are being told & sold by the Left & the Media. The real meaning of Conservative versus Liberal (in regards to political parties)would be a great place to start. The big message too is that this information DOES matter when hiring someone for the highest JOB in the land. Continue to arm us with information, we've got work to do!

Husker2
Now that you ask, Mr. Elder has everything on his side except reality.

Perhaps he could point to the GOP's election of minority governors, US senators and House members as examples of its inclusive policies. One problem - there aren't any and haven't been any for a very long time.

He points to the minorities who voted for the GOP last year but forgets that it had the fewest minority delegates at the RNC convension in recent history, just 6%. So much for outreach and inclusiveness.

His stunning misreading of the history of the civil rights struggles in America is breathtaking. There were three parties in the U.S. at the time, the Republicans, the "free state" Democrats and the Dixiecrats, the old "slave state" Democrats. It was the free state Democrats and Dixiecrats that battled for years over civil rights while the GOP sat on the sidelines with no dog in the hunt. It wasn't until Lyndon Johnson peeled away a few Dixiecrats and began horse-trading with Republicans, who didn't care much one way or another on civil rights, that the major civil rights bills were passed. So much for GOP leadership on that issue.

Elder also conveniently avoids the fact that the Southern Strategy nevr really ended for the GOP. It has continued through Reagan's "state's rights" speech at Philadephia, MS to the Willie Horton ads to illegal vote caging schemes meant to deny voting rights to poor and minority voters throughout the Bush administration.

The GOP is rapidly becoming the SOWPP -- the Southern Old White Peoples Party.

you're right on the mark, Ernest
All that you've listed,I've been called, including "fearful white woman," because I didn't vote for or trust Obama. I'm white, in the South, I'm a mom/wife, jazz artist/clinician (teacher)by profession, believe in God, accountability, personal responsibility and Conservative values. AS you've pointed out, we've got 'resell' or reintroduce the Party to citizens, especially to our youth & to blacks, who, not knowing the real history of the parties or basic economic principals, voted for a slick talking lawyer, a "hip" American Idol symbol. Updating our image with a youthful, vigorous, candidate who stands strong behind Conservative values, getting Conservative voters to canvas communities, especially Black, Hispanic and Jewish Conservatives going door-to door in their communities, will educate the public again. The campaign starts now.

Tery
Unfortunately, perceptions count.

You are correct in pointing out that, not just blacks, but many Democrats voted without knowing the facts.

They voted for their candidate because of perceptions.

"He is handsome." "He can speak so well." "He is going to help us."

Until the GOP can overcome the perception that they are anti-black and anti-immigrant, I am afraid they will continue to lose ground in the changing U.S. voter pool.

my .02 worth
racism is a tool used by the left. To wit:1. where is the uproar by the black left, NAACP, jackson/sharpton, et al crowd over the apparent nomination of "another white" person to the senate in Ms. Kennedy? 2. how can white americans vote for a party that supports making themselves (as a race) second-class citizens when that party supports affirmative action? 3. how come the black left, NAACP, jackson/sharpton et al never holler affirmative action at the MSM, NYT, most editors of major newspapers, nightly anchors, MoveOn, People for the American Way, Daily Kos, et at and their lack of blacks at the top echelons? it is all a ruse. this whole racism, affirmative action and PC thing is just a way to indoctrinate, and quiet Americans. classic Orwellian mind control used by the soviets/stalin.

Thank you Mr. Elder,
For another excellent column.

One thought you might have added was President Bush's (and Senator Kennedy's) No Child Left Behind law or NCLB which is being fought by almost all the Democrats and particularly the school teacher's union.

This law is particularly helpful to blacks as it finally highlights how blacks are being screwed in the public schools.

For example in North Carolina, the high school graduation rate (in 4 years)for whites is 75% but for blacks is only 61% and for Hispanics 54%. In 2006/07 the results of kids passing both reading and math ABC end of year tests were Whites 75.9%, Blacks 43.5% and Hispanics 52.5%.

One result of this disparity in North Carolina, is that Blacks make up 58% of the prison population but less than 25% of total population. Another factor among the prison population is 30% of all (not just Black) 2007 prison admissions showed a tested reading grade of K to 6th grade.

Some blacks including Christopher Edley,Jr.(now dean of U C Berkeley Law School & formerly in the Carter and Clinton White House and on US Commission on Civil Rights) said NCLB was most significant civil rights law pased in the past 40 years.

Is this what passes for humor in TN?

Now back to the article! With what do you disagree in Mr. Elder's column?

Ken

Your insults are still racist and demeaning.

The mock outrage is over one cut of 41. Other targets are Al Gore, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and ther liberals.

GOP re Charges of Racism: "Magic Negro"
the GOP is like water on a tin roof, under the summer sun.... it's evaporating away.... for my entire 60 years, i've supported the GOP, for the next, i'll support Independents... these clowns have cause so much damage, that the party is now in the scrap pile... nothing can save it, NOTHING... the Dum-o-craps are vicious liars, and heading down a socialist, if not communist path... Come back, Larry
Larry, your retirement from KABC radio in Los Angeles was traumatic end the bad year of 2008 for me and so many others. I hope you get back into radio, preferably on KRLA following Dennis Prager. I remember how great it was when he was on KABC and you came into the studio early to have a few minutes of on-air discussion with him. Have a nice, well-earned vacation - but come back!

my 2 cents
"Democrats opposed the 13th amendment (freeing the slaves), the 14th amendment (making ex-slaves citizens) and the 15th amendment (that, on paper at least gave blacks the right to vote). Democrats founded the Ku Klux Klan - some even call it 'The Terrorist Wing of the Democratic Party.' (Sen. Byrd - call home) And a greater percentage of Republicans than democrats voted for the civil rights act of 1964."

All true - but HOW MANY BLACKS DO YOU THINK KNOWS EVEN ONE OF THESE FACTS?

Dealing with the real world
Of course Larry's points are true and well-taken. But no informed conservative should be surprised at this point by the extreme media bias. No effective RNC chair could be this tone-deaf. I agree with New Gingrich and others on this point.

GOP re Charges of Racism: "Magic Negro"
Being called racist is akin to being accused of molesting children. In the minds of most, you are guilty until proven innocent. That mindset is what, in my opinion, keeps the GOP from aggressively trying to counter the charges. The taller one stands, the better target one is for the mud being thrown. The GOP is in hiding.

Most people that I know who are Republicans or Conservatives, recognize that for the GOP to fluorish that it must represent the interests of most Americans. Contrary to what the Libs/Dems would have you believe, the GOP is open to all and minorities are welcome. The Dems have done such a good job of painting the GOP as racist, exclusionary, party of the rich, war mongers, right wing religious nuts, that minorities and many Liberals refuse to investigate the GOP values out of hand.

The GOP is to blame because it has written off the black community as hopelessly in the Democrat Party and not retrievable. Get out and recruit new party members and campaing in black communities. Convince people that reduced taxes, school vouchers, less beaureaucratic interference in education, energy policy, and health care are in their best interest. Skip flowery concepts like "Hope" and "Change" and show dollar and cents advantages to GOP philosopy. Jesus hung out with the money changers. GOP, get out their and recruit where the recruits are.

Apologies
It has been brought to my attention that many Southern rednecks actually find the term "cracker" insulting and demeaning.

I understand they prefer to be known as "Soda Biscuit Americans."

My apologies.

.....Why do blacks vote Democrat? ...because it gives them political clout ...why would blacks want to end racism if they can benefit from it? ...

.....On the positive side I can see some benefit from the election of Obama ...

...1. The racial barrier has been crossed and white-guilt Liberals can feel absolved ...

...2. Obama can become a role model for black youths to emulate instead of gangsta rappers and basket ball players ...maybe it will become acceptable to pull up their pants and stay in school because these are no longer just "white" things ...maybe? .....COLOSSUS

Magic Negro
Words do come to mind.
"Much to do about nothing."
"Symbolism over substance."
The latter is a better choice.
Better yet,
In a word, 'Phony."

Larry....
You are the "man" Mr. Elder! For years, I've listened to you, sadly noted the passing of your "Mom," a truly lucid and wonderful person. They say "the acorn doesn't fall far from the tree...." Once again, you don't disappoint. God help us, during Mr. Obama's tenure. All this "race" stuff remains what it has always been, a distraction from the truth. Schoolteacher, Asheboro, NC

PRAVDA is a bit histrionic as a reference, don't ya think?

You are running around like a drag queen with her head cut off. Slow down.

Larry Elder....
I enjoy reading your columns because I find you safe and non-threatening.

I would not feel as safe and non-threatened were Kanye West or P. Diddy writing your columns.

Obama a negro?
You could have fooled me. From what I know of the man, he's a mutt like most of us - part this, part that. He has dark skin, but so do most of my southern european relatives and his facial structure is caucasian.

Obama has self-identified as "black" but he fits none of the black physical stereotypes except for skin color. How about we just refer to him as Mr. Obama? I didn't care what his alleged race was during the campaign and I don't care now; his programs I care about and they scare me.

Using my proctoscope

I discovered that Rum Dog MN is really Al Franken.

"Negro" is a perfectly good word ...
so said Andy Rooney in an interview with Imus a few years ago. A white person could be "African-American if they were born in Africa and immigrated to the US.

If Republicans/Conservatives had any sort of spine, they would form a Congressional Causasion Caucus to be in sync with the Black, Hispanic, and Asian ones. If minorities can have such groups to promote their racial/ethnic interests, then so should the White majority.

With the total White population at 67% and declining, Whites will have to start looking out for our interests. Forget this "outreach" sucking-up to minorities stuff. The colored are safely in the Democratic party camp.

It's not about lrace folks
It's about controlling speech -political correctness is a cancer -this is but one type and it is aimed at stifling truth.
The slavery of today is of the soul and itis voluntary servetude to the government -that's the far more evil mode - permenant dependence built upon anger and victimhood is as destructive to a community as could be and the Democracts just love their compliance. Jonestown without the Kool-aide.

It's not about race folks
This is but chapter one in the book of political correctness which has as its goal stifling critical free speech and the truth from ever being heard. Elder is right -whites and blacks alike need to excoriate any leftist who dares to pull the "I'm sensitive card" If the truth about the black community's attachment to slvery of the soul to the whiteliberal masters in the Democratic party, they might finally pick themselves upl and join society as responsible equals instead of buying into the permanent victimhood suicide. LBJ's great society has cost the black community its heart as has been well documented by responsible black writers like Sowell and Williams. The have forsaken MLK's dream to judge a man by the content of his character and settles for permenant dependence and a sadly broken community full of hate, loss of family, out-of - wedlock (remember that term) children, drugs and subprime expectations from their students. Perhaps someday they'll understand and change but it won''t be because the Democratic party encouraged them to do it.

Mr. Elder
While everything you say is true the real point of this whole incident is that Chip Saltsman is the new poster child for STUPID. He is totally unqualified to be in any ranking position in the Republican Party, not for being racist, but for not understanding how all this would be reported in the MSM. If the Republicans want to win we must return to conservative values. That doesn't insult the opposition it elevates us. We can't afford to insult anybody, we should point out the error in their flawed logic and highlight the corruption and hypocrisy in the Demonrat party but it doesn't make sense to insult someone who is presently kicking your a$$.

Why do blacks vote 90% Democrat?
Elder points out a serious fact, that some posters here choose to ignore. Democrats have been vocal leaders in racism for generations. Yet, blacks vote for them 9-to-1.
Racism is an evil that humanity has inflicted upon itself since Babel, and it is still present today. And, nobody own's a corner on that.
I've been saying it since I discovered that Liberalism isn't liberal (except with other people's money), that there is only one race: The Human Race. We are all just people.
So why do blacks vote for Democrats? Because those blacks are racists too. They believe that they have been hurt by racism (and they are right), and they want to hurt others by practicing racism themselves, repaying evil with evil. What they choose to ignore is how racism hurts the racist even more.
You can't end racism by practicing it yourself.

Four Years Of Whining?
You saw this coming when the media decided that it would be racist to ask Obama hard questions for two years.

Obama voters deserve everything they asked for... Four years of silly school yard whining.

Rumdog

Speaking of sterotypes:
"THIS REINFORCES THE STEREOTYPES, friends, it makes all of you look the crackers you probably are."

Please look in the mirror reference the use of sterotypes.

Rum Dog
Rum Dog I don't know which ails you most: Too much rum or being a dog. Apparently you aren't sober enough to have read Larry Elder's column with any understanding. When you do awake, read it again and try writing a more intelligent post.

Let's face it
When the republican/conservative party is visibly reduced to little more than a bunch of cantankerous, angry old men in white shoes, and middle aged women who stand up at a televised rally to anounce that Obama is a muslim, Democrats find themselves with even more of an embarrassment of riches, one of them being this moron who put out the tape he thought was so brilliant and clever.

Nobody cares about the actual tape, folks, what more enlightend Republicans care about is the increasingly dismal perception of conservatives as crack addicted, home-bound, angry misfits who sit at computers all day unless their working on their G.E.Ds.

THIS REINFORCES THE STEREOTYPES, friends, it makes all of you look the crackers you probably are. The point is not what you personally think of it, why would you want 2/3 of the country to keep seeing you as racist morons?

Obama the Thin Skinned Crybaby
If he and his nannies in the Democrat Party are that thin skinned, its going to be a lot of fun teasing them for the next couple of years.

Great article
Larry, as always, you provide a though provoking article for true Americans.

Like your book, "Ten Things you can't Say in America" Black racism is much worse that white racism. maybe it should be rewritten as follows "Democrat racism is worse than Republican racism.
Why is Robert Byrd not vilified for his fomer memebership in the Klan, but Trent Lott is almost crucified for saying something nice top a 100year old former politician?

Support the Fair Tax

Too snide for satire
A racial commentary from Rush Limbaugh? Pretty much tainted with the baggage he's gathered over the years. Not a shred of any sympathy to the political aspirations of most African-Americans, and at the same time thriving on the support of the lingering know-nothingism of narrowminded white populism. Some satire.

Faulty memory hurts GOP
It's not surprising the writer should defend his party, which is certainly not a collection of white racists. But he ignores the truth that the lingering (but hopefully dying) power of white racism has been based in the Republican Party since Nixon's Southern strategy. The writer's refusal to acknowledge this diminishes his case.

It's true that Democrats rely on blacks enormously as part of its coalition. They're far from perfect. But the party also walks the walk in sharing power and taking stands on issues which resonate with most blacks. Where are the Reublicans? They simply do not provide an alternative that appeals to African-Americans. They LOOK like the White People's party.

In the 1980s the sainted Reagan supported the white regime in South Africa and slashed federal aid to America's urban centers. This thumbing his nose at blacks is never owned by today's GOP, which contends Reagan -- by being anti-government and therefore anti-democratic-- was the standard who never erred.

Bank on the memory of Ronald Reagan at your own peril, GOP.

I Applaud You, Mr. Elder
for on these matters...

"He who walks with the wise grows wise,
but a companion of fools suffers harm."

-Proverbs 13:20

Oh...the irony of it all.............
Yep, the Demo-thugs have been slamming it to the blacks for MANY years....I believe even LBJ in his "new society" said something to the effect about upcoming welfare and entitlements that it should keep "the niggras happy for at least 40 years"......lol......

AND YET.....despite what Mr. Elder points out in his column.....

Blacks CONTINUE to vote overwhelmingly for DEMOCRATS....now we know WHO the real plantation masters are.

P.S. I detest Republicans also......for being spineless in leadership!

WTF?
Condie? Colin? Not black enough? Now the half-white obama is? Am I missing something here? Please help me understand, or is he really is "the magic negro"!

Katrina
The Democratic mayor and Democratic governor did nothing to help the people of New Orleans. In fact, they actually prevented help that was on the way by turning back 100s of school buses that were in route to help rescue the people of N.O.

When blacks ain't racists
When a black church as an article of faith calls America of the late 20th century a place where blacks are captives and where white society is out to kill and/or imprison blacks that is not race baiting of the first order. No way. In fact a baptized member of said church can run for the highest office in this country and be elected. Evidently blacks can say the vilest slanders about the US and get nothing but Amens from over 50% of the electorate.

On the other hand if a white running for any elected office was a member of a whites only country club for more than thirty seconds he is forever labelled a racist of the first rank and could not be elected dog catcher.
