Jessica Cantelon's Biography

As the Director of Marketing at the Clare Boothe Luce Policy Institute, Jessica Cantelon oversees marketing and communications efforts and provides creative development for the Institute's publications. “It is a true pleasure,” she says, “to play a part in an organization that presents such an important positive perspective for women today.”

Born and raised in Kirkland, Washington, Jessica attended the University of Washington, majoring in English Literature. Disillusioned with the liberal atmosphere on campus and in the classroom, she found her niche as an editor of Right Turn, the UW’s conservative student newspaper. There, she discovered and nurtured her interest in journalism, writing and layout design. Her involvement in Right Turn led to a 2002 news writing position with the Cybercast News Service at the Media Research Center in Alexandria Virginia. This horizon-expanding experience inspired Jessica to someday pursue a career in public policy in the Washington, D.C. area—a place where opportunities seemed to abound.

After graduating from college, Jessica spent a year working as a freelance graphic designer and public relations consultant in the Puget Sound area. Following that, she held a communications position at Discovery Institute in Seattle, a non-profit think tank promoting principles of free market, representative government and individual liberty. She worked primarily with the Cascadia Center, Discovery’s transportation and regional development arm.

Jessica joined CBLPI in October of 2006 and makes her home in Herndon, Virginia.
