Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

The organization has allegedly written letters and made telephone calls asking leaders to avoid pastor gatherings and rallies sponsored by the High Impact Leadership Coalition (an organization that I lead). My organization, on the other hand, is aware that blacks, whites, and Hispanic Christians have to unify because a 60% vote is necessary to pass a Florida marriage amendment. Therefore, we have worked tirelessly to host leadership summits and rallies in Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa, Ft. Lauderdale, and Miami.

Bond and other gay rights advocates believe that defeating pro-marriage efforts this election cycle in all three amendment battlegrounds will result in same sex marriage becoming the defacto law of the entire nation in two or three years. Therefore, millions of dollars of contributions have been sunk into the their efforts in all three states.

The Florida battle becomes even more significant because recent legal developments in Connecticut. Last Friday a Connecticut Supreme Court ruled that same sex couples have a constitutional right to be married. The court struck down the state’s civil union law. With this act of judicial intervention, Connecticut becomes the third state that has legalized gay marriage. The timing of this high court decision makes one wonder whether it was politically motivated. Perhaps the judges wanted to declare the inevitability of same sex marriage becoming the law of the land, expecting pro-family groups to raise the white flag of surrender in this battle for the definition of marriage.

While some traditional marriage advocates around the nation may give up, the majority of social conservatives will be emboldened to fight even harder against same sex marriage.

In conclusion, let me encourage every reader to contact both local and national leaders of the NAACP. Let’s let them know that marriage is a sacred institution that must be vigilantly protected.

You just made the case FOR marriage between gay PARENTS.

And you made the case that marriage between adults WITHOUT children IS legal.

Denying that would be a contradiction of yourself AND the law.

See, that's why the courts ruled as they did, and why YOU cannot be charged with voting on it.

Nothing radical or activist about how the justices have voted in favor of marriage EQUALITY. They were adhering to the intents of marriage, family AND Constitution, not contradicting them.

You, clearly....cannot.

The Constitution also protects from a TYRANNY by a majority. Which, probably at the federal level, this issue may be decided on that basis.

Homosexuality, is not a culture, nor choice. It's an attribute that is universal and indigenous to all mankind.
And not an attribute harmful to society or who is gay out of any proportion to heterosexuality.

Using laws as if it WERE, is inappropriate to how laws regarding gay people is adjudicated.
And if it's about your religious belief, then LET GOD JUDGE in the end, not YOURSELVES.

“I hope you are a black man like i am for if not you dont know anything about what brought the black family down. The Democratic Party started offering us Free things for nothing if we voted for them. The biggest problem tho was WELFARE it made us do things we never had done before."

I'm a brother like you and have some info for you. Out of nearly 40M black Americans, approximately 6.5M black families are on welfare as opposed to 5.9 million white families (FY 2005/2006 data). Statistics show that 25% of black Americans live in poverty while 75% do not. That means that 2/3 of us do not fall into the "welfare made us do it" category that you refer to.

There are many social factors that have significantly affected the stability of the black family and the availability of welfare has had a nominal effect. The drug trade that has flourished in our communities is number one. US prisons and jails are filled with crack addicts and drug pushers that are fathers who are no longer in the picture for their children. Addicted single parents with teen and young adult children see the cycle of out-of-wedlock births continue unabated due to a lack of a male role model while the young men get sucked into the hip-hop lifestyle that views ebony queens as only objects for sexual pleasures.

In addition, there is a chasm that has developed between the sexes in the black community as women have taken on the responsibilities of both parents in many cases developing strong personalities that unfortunately causes apprehension for some black males regarding long-term commitment.

Couple these problems with a porous educational system in most urban areas, high unemployment rates among blacks, and feelings of hopelessness and low self-esteem and you have a prime mixture for family break-ups and/or child desertion.

Gatorbait, the welfare program does have negative issues but mostly it is used as a GOP talking point to deride dems.
