Poll
Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Some may agree with Sen. John McCain’s (R-Ariz.) positions on his myriad of causes and enthusiasms. Others may embrace Mitt Romney’s record as governor and his experience in business. But one fact remains pre-eminent — McCain has a much better chance of winning the election than does former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney (R).

If you feel confident, for some unknown reason, in a Republican victory, it is possible that either candidate could win. If you feel the nation is aching for a Democrat, as I do, then the importance of choosing the strongest candidate fades a bit.

But any rational observer has to conclude that John McCain has a better shot of winning than Mitt Romney does.

And, if a failure to win means the election of Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.), the stakes are too high to ignore the issue of political practicality in making a choice.

Perhaps because he is better known, the Arizona senator ties Hillary in the match-ups while Romney trails by up to 12 points.

But the real difference is not in their current polling performance, but in their future potential as November candidates.

Because of his immigration position — the same one that has so fouled his relationship with the Republican right — McCain has a very good shot at winning a lot of Hispanic votes. While the Clintons have always had a genuine, if now faded, popularity with blacks, they have never been able to boast of a strong Latino base. Partially because of Bill’s pardon of the FALN terrorists, Hillary swept the Puerto Rican vote in New York state in 2000, but she has no special appeal to bring to a genuine battle for their support. Romney’s hard-line immigration position will leave Latinos cold.

But McCain has a chance with them.

The bitterness of the Democratic contest leaves open the possibility of massive defections from Hillary should she be the candidate, both among blacks and whites. There will be legions of disappointed young voters if Obama eventually loses to the race-baiting Clinton machine.

McCain’s record offers much to attract these disaffected Democrats and independents. His ability to win independents where they are permitted to vote in Republican primaries attests to his appeal to swing voters.

McCain’s co-sponsorship with Sen. Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) of legislation to prevent global warming, his opposition to torture or waterboarding in terrorist interrogations, his support for campaign finance reform, his backing for regulation of tobacco by the Food and Drug Administration, his suggestion of serious corporate governance r eforms in the wake of the Enron scandal, and his crusade against earmarking by Congress all put him squarely in position to win disaffected moderates, Democrats, and independents.

He clearly would dominate the national security issue as the Republican nominee in a way that Romney, without the relevant experience, could never do. Particularly in opposing a female liberal candidate amid a global war against terror that could heat up at any moment, this is no inconsiderable advantage.

Hillary’s phony experience argument, which she could still maintain vis-à-vis Romney, would be hollow against McCain. And while Obama could point to a significant gap in their ages, Clinton, only 10 years his junior, could not effectively make age an issue against McCain.

Obviously, McCain’s strong support for the war in Iraq would be a point of contention and vulnerability in a general election against Clinton. But his support of the surge, and its evident effectiveness in reducing combat casualties, might well give him the better of the argument in front of a moderate general electorate.

It is only on the economy that McCain has a self-proclaimed (if inadvisably so) weakness. But Hillary would be overreaching dramatically if she claimed special expertise on this issue merely through the osmosis that she claims to be a feature of living in the White House. Her tax increase proposals, particularly her support for a higher capital gains tax, can be painted, accurately, as foreshadowing doom for the economy. Neither Hillary nor McCain can claim the economy as an especial preserve.

Can Romney? Inexplicably, the McCain campaign has not spoken of the layoffs that must have accompanied Romney’s efforts to “turn around” failing companies. Hedge funds are notorious for cutting jobs and the Clintons will make Mitt eat every single one. McCain has no such vulnerability and, hopefully, will make Romney’s layoffs an issue before Super Tuesday.

So McCain can win and Romney won’t. That’s the long and the short of it.

The Major Problem

The Stupid Party

The RNC wants an amnesty candidate.

Don't vote for one.

Another amnesty will result in Democrat majorities for decades, or until they are supplanted by the La Raza Party, why doesn't the RNC know that? How stupid do you have to be to import voters for the opposition at the same time you alienate your own voters? Nominating any of the amnesty supporters is a losing proposition, we will not support them. If the GOP intends to surrender our sovereignty and abandon the rule of law, they will find in November 2008, that they still have their big money/cheap labor donors, but they do not have voters. GOP-RIP

McCain can win
Some, like my friend Virginia Patriot, think we are sqandering our country and if we allow another four or eight years of illegal immigration we are doomed. They are wrong.

Yes we need to control illegal immigration, but if we keep going down this road we will only get democrats elected who could care less about the issue. McCain is right on far more issues than he is wrong and is actually far better on immigration than people give him credit for.

There is a reason
obama is garnering a lot of support even though he has zero experience and pie in the sky ideas. Many of these people do not want the clinton's in the WH again, so they support him.

When given the opportunity to vote for a republican with moderate views, strong leadership experience to keep them and their children safe and integrity they will vote for him over obama.

McCain has all those qualities in spades, no other republican comes close and will therefore be unable to beat clinton.

I believe McCain will resurrect the Reagan coalition and will win in a landslide over any dem.

McCain is scary
It's hard to believe that the collective American memory is as bad as it appears to be. Doesn't anyone recall the incredibly flakey behavior exhibited by John McCain at the end of the last Presidential primaries cycle? On at least two occasions I witnessed (on TV) a man that was barely cohesive, and actually babbling into the microphone.

I don't believe that he is a well man - simply put.

I can't say for sure that his often times Democratic leaning behavior is a symptom of his failing mind, but it could be.

I'm a Navy vet same era as Mr. McCain, and so I don't come to my conclusions easily. But, first and foremost I'm an American, and a relatively conservative one at that, and John McCain, even if healthy wouldn't get my vote, but as unhealthy as he appears - no way.

Wake up America. Can you really see this man in the Oval office? Leading the world?

I'd rather see Hillary or Barack, who are at least of sound minds, and bodies. As much as I hate nearly everything that they stand for in the bigger picture they're at least sane.

DieselBoatMan

Tonight's debate
I'm curious if Rudy drops out before the debate or waits until after so he can participate and play attack dog for McCain. I see Huckabe and possibly Rudy going on the offense against Mitt as proxies for McCain. This will do the damage to Romney that McCain needs to put Romney away with out having to get his hands dirty.

I can't vote for McCain. I have read comments from others how Romney panders to voters while McCain is the "real deal". If you need proof that McCain is nothing but a panderor just read McCains comments on the Meet the press transcipt from this past Sunday when he gave his answer to what he would veto his own immigration bill if it came across his desk as president.

Mitt may drop out?
http://www.townhall.com/blog/default.aspx?mode=post&g=6e442 520-f45d-4683-a928-72cf90837138&comments=true&submitted=tru e101b3a22-1226-4dfb-b101-fda5375daa68

Probably not just yet. But I would warn McCain and Romney to stay away from personal attacks at the next debate. Mitt is mad that he feels he was unfairly attacked by McCain on Iraq. Even assuming that is true (and Hugh many of us think what McCain said was accurrate)--the Romnney campaign has gone after McCain and others very harshly. Just in Florida, Romney attacked McCain for voting against the Medicare expansion (I thought it was conservative to resist entitlement expansions we cannot afford?).

It is time to mend fences, not tearing them down.

FOOT SOLDIER'S a REPUBLICAN TRAITOR
Mitt is the only true conservative... he's the man. His optimistic goals for our country's future is a breath of fresh air! His economic plan is outstanding & he will fight the Jihadists! He's the complete package!

Advesories cut him down for petty reasons ie...his Mormon faith, good looks, $.

There are real reasons to go against McCain...McCain (FOOT SOLDIER for Reagan...HAHAHA) cannot win on HIS record. He's the most LIBERAL Republican on the ballot...(he has aligned himself with too many liberal issues ie...Gang of 14, remember McCain/Feingold?, defected with Ted Kennedy on education, plus disapproved of Bush's tax cuts, & weak on immigration.)

He's too bombastic to be President. He SUCKER PUNCHED Romney yesterday w/ his DECEITFUL accusations about timelines & robo- calling...he's a lib all the way, even running a Clintonesque campaign.

The FOOT SOLDIER'S jealousy of Romney is crystal clear. Is it because Romney's a Mormon or is it because Romney's been successful, maybe because Romney's exposed his failures & makes him accountable, or a combo of all??

EVERYONE who CORRELATES MITT & $ IS 100% JEALOUS!
True conservative Republicans consider the candidates record & goals for our country's future...not petty issues like good looks & $...One should not take anyone w/ these views seriously, but should realize that those w/ these views are lacking a few brain cells!

McCain is an UNTRUSTWORTHY UNRELIABLE "FOOT SOLDIER" REPUBLICAN TRAITOR who would disappoint Ronald Reagan with his liberal record and liberal goals for our country. He's a pseudo-Republican...as the old saying goes "a wolf hiding in sheeps clothing"...McCain's "a liberal hiding in the conservative party"

lo there are other reasons
I admire Mitt's business success and for that matter that he is true to his Mormon faith. What I do not like is his phoniness in switching from a fiscal conservative moderate Republican to the best conservative ever--in two years. It seemed disingeuous from the start and turned me and many others (who I suspect would have supported Romney) off.

Mitt Romney thought he had to pander to the far right conservative base and that is why he is not going to win the nomination. He almost made the shift to the "real Mitt" but the damage was already done.

Once again the dimmest speaks
So Dick, hows that Condi Rice nomination looking?

Morris is mentally deficient.

McCain is dependent on a positive free media coverage for his success. They played the two endorsements endlessly over the weekend, stopping only occassionally to comment on the "controversy" of Mitt calling for timetables for withdrawl from Iraq.

Once the general campaign starts. The positive McCain press stops. McCain will never "rally" the conservatives - even against Hillary. I really believe that ANY of the others could beat Hillary. She's exceptionally weak, she has no legislative or personal accomplishments, a terrible campaigner, and Bill is a walking embarrasment. Even so, she beats McCain.

Way to go GOP, put this one in the column with; Ford, and Dole. Left leaning losers.

McCain vs Rom . . . Hillary
Excellent summary of the situation.

Not only does McCain have some very reasonable positions, he has a track record of integrity and character. He truly IS a straight talker. (Sometimes to a fault.) So, in my humble opinion, my vote for him counts double: 1) for positions I mostly agree with and 2) for a man who would actually follow up on those positions with conviction.

He can win?
Well, that's fabulous that you think he can win--but all the reasons listed in this article make McCain a Dem candidate--"He can capture the Latino vote", you might want to modify that and say he can capture the illegal Latino vote. His policies on environment are a plus in the mind of the conservative? Who are you kidding? He stabs conservative principles in the back on a regular basis and is one of the prime supsects in the Republican Parties slide to the left.

From what I've seen of McCain he is a Democrat that leans to the middle. And a vote for him is simply a vote for the lesser of two evil dems. You are pushing his "electability" at your own perill, because sometimes victory is not everything and if the RNC give us this guy as a candidate--he will simply merge the two party platforms into one muddle headed socialist government monster. He will destroy the republican party as we know it, and chase away the conservative base. Is this what you want Mr.Morris?

Hogwash
I hope the GOP proves Mr. Morris wrong. Didn't the 2006 elections tell us how excited Republicans get about amnesty and candidates who don't care about conservative principles? The GOP will collapse under McCain. If he is our nominee, with less appeal than Bob Dole, we better get ready to welcome Bill Clinton back to his old dig.

Morris is a Huckabee Shill
He knows Huckabee, McCain's dimb-witted little attack dog, might get a VP spot with McCain, so Morris has been attacking Romney for months.

McCain = AMNESTY and Republicans (in non Latino-dominated states, cannot stand that).

Dick Morris
I'm not sure who i dislike more - McCain or Morris. I will never vote McCain and in fact i would seriously consider crossing lines to vote against him.

National Security
McCain says he is the best on national security, while most illegal drugs and illegal aliens are crossing his border in AZ.

There is also documented proof from our border guards that even the Mexican military has crossed our border protecting this illegal activity.

This is his state of AZ and still McCain has done nothing to stop it - defend that McCainiacs.

conservative?

What is it about an endorsement from the NY Times that is unclear?

Romney's layoffs
"Inexplicably, the McCain campaign has not spoken of the layoffs that must have accompanied Romney’s efforts to “turn around” failing companies. Hedge funds are notorious for cutting jobs and the Clintons will make Mitt eat every single one."

In fact, in Romney's 1994 Senatorial campaign against Ted Kennedy, Kennedy did exactly that. His campaign located and dragged before the TV cameras a number of workers who had lost their jobs in one of Bain Capital's restructurings:

"I lost my job due to Romney"
"I got laid off due to Romney"
etc.
This ploy worked, among voters from union families in Massachusetts.

I'm sure Ted Kennedy remembers that and will suggest the same ploy against Romney this year. Heck, his staff probably still has the names and addresses of those laid-off workers so they can contact them again.

Anyone But McCain
It would be much easier to get republicans to work together in defeating hillary's agenda as president.

If McCain wins we will see his liberal policies winning support from dems and rinos.

for Virginia Patriot
Virginia Patriot writes: "Another amnesty will result in Democrat majorities for decades....How stupid do you have to be to import voters for the opposition at the same time you alienate your own voters?"

But sir,
the GOP has to reach out to SOME new voters if it wants to remain a nationally viable party into the 21st century. It can't just stick with its aging base of married white Christians.

Any party has to constantly attract new voters to stay relevant.

So if you don't want the GOP to reach out to Hispanics, then whom DO you want the GOP to reach out to? Young voters? Single women? Gays? Jews? How do YOU suggest expanding the GOP beyond its middle-aged Christian conservative base?

You can't just write off the entire rest of the country beyond the middle-aged Christian conservative base. You have to find ways to appeal to voters who are not rock-ribbed conservatives like yourself.

SteveL
how many jobs has McCain created? Oh that's right, all the illegals he had hired on his ranch in Arizona which he can't remember. Do the companies Staples, Bright Horizons, Sports Authority, KB Toys and Domino's Pizza come to your Dhimmicrat mind? How about the CEOs of eBay and Intel? They support Mitt because he has a razor-sharp mind...

BTW, the Kennedys owned Chicago's Merchandise Mart and did not offer them health insurance and kept most of them at minimum wage...unfortunately, even the liberal Boston Globe said Mitt should have come back to Ted and zapped him with the sad truth about this. A bloviating jerk is Ted and his Amen-saying sheeple.

But since you engage in half-truths you must be a Dhimmicrat or a McCainiac...and I am not sure there is a difference. I will NEVER vote for McCain, I don't care if the GOP goes in the toilet, again, what is the difference between McCain/Huckabee and Clinton/Obama? None. So I and my money and time stay at home.

McCain can be your man...
...if you don't pay attention to politics, or the news in general. Unfortunately, there are way too many people out there just like that.

I myself will vote Libertarian before I'll plug my nose and vote McCain.

How many times...
must we see it to believe it. A liberal republican loses to a democrat every time.

Support the winner
I've been commenting on these election blogs for weeks and while I'm still not sold on any one of the Republicans I haven't wavered on this: no matter who wins, I intend to support them in the general election. Whether the Dems end up with Clinton or Obama, the stakes are too high to stay home in protest. I don't care who you support, they all have a lot of warts but I'm not going to let a snit over my guy not winning let me concede the White House to someone who will raise taxes, gut our military and load our courts up with liberal judges the way Bill Clinton did. That would be the epitomy of cutting off your nose to spite your face. In the end, you will be the one who gets hurt.

for King Liberal
King Liberal writes: "Republicans have been marginalizing the young in their own party and generations Y+E see through the could of BS that guys like Mitt and Huck are pedaling."

My theory is that the Internet has fundamentally altered the attitudes of America's young people. They are the first generation to grow up with the Internet as young kids, much as you and I grew up with TV.

And the Internet is a fundamentally transnationalistic and non-ethnocentric experience. You surf around the world from website to website, without needing a passport to cross national boundaries, without knowing the race of the person who designed each website (unless they tell you).

That mindset is antithetical to the nativism you see here on Townhall. Young people are not animated by anti-gay appeals or nativist anti-Hispanic appeals. Hillary's subtle use of the "race card" has backfired with these young people too.

With today's youngsters, the old appeals to nativism and ethnocentrism are beginning to fail.

And in case you think that only the mindset of youngsters in the West is being changed by the Internet, have a look at this video:

http://tinyurl.com/3bfnvo

Racist Ruben Navarrette
Ruben Navarrette Jr. is for McCain - this is from his CNN article:

For the foreign-born, many of whom care deeply about the immigration issue, maybe the person who deserves their support in November isn’t the candidate who voted to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexican border (Barack Obama) or the one who equivocated on giving illegal immigrants driver’s licenses only to cave in and oppose it (Hillary Clinton). Maybe it’s the guy who stuck his neck out and co-sponsored with Ted Kennedy, no less, a comprehensive immigration reform bill that offered a path to legal status and made him a pariah in his own party.

OK - do i need anymore reason to vote against McCain?

Dick
He makes the same mistake that pundits often make, and that is predicting the future too far in advance. I be he would have said that Mitt would never have been a strong contender for the nomination even.

And he forgets that McCain has the old bald look. Romney looks younger, is taller and has better hair. I know that that is no reason to vote for somebody, and I don't mean to be cynical, but historically that has been an asset for a candidate.

Winning is not everything.
If you really stand for some principles, periods of time in the wilderness may be better for the conservative movement than collapsign and supporting a leader who displays a strikingly different ideology.

On the one hand we may be horrified by the idea of another Clinton in the White House - I am - or of what might come from Obama's overwhelming naivete. On the other we have to think of the damage done to conservatism from craven opportunism.

Libs never cheat? Ha!
20% of the cross-over vote in Florida for McCain came from long-time Dhimmicrats. Yeah he won Florida fair and square...right. Yeah, McLame, you are a disgrace and so is your mini-me, half-wit Huckabee and his anti-Mormon bigoted legions. Surely as we speak, the GOP will go down in flames to defeat. Reminds me of how Bob Dole was trashed as too old by the Clinton political war machine. McVain and his illegal-loving commentariat like Medved, David Brooks and Bill Kristol live in gated communities and do not have to suffer the injustices on the job, school and in the community to put up with these hordes of uneducated, criminal, free-loading peasants. I will NEVER vote for McLame and his mini-me Hucksterbee! NEVER!

McCain looks to be the nominee...
...and if he is, I'm voting Democrat.

While both a Democrat presidency and a McCain presidency will both be monumental disasters -- higher taxes, rewarding child molestors from third world nations with rights US citizens don't even have, revokation of even more parts of the US Constitution, economic collapse caused by draconian "environmental" regulations written based upon debunked junk science, etc... -- a Democrat disaster would only last for 4 years (long enough for an ACTUAL Republican to take over), whereas a McCain disaster would most assuradly be VERY long lived because McCain is DEDICATED to destroying the only opposition to the corrupt and backwards Democratic Party.

McCain is the DEFINITION of the Manchurian Candidate.

DICK MORRIS IS A LIBERAL OF COURSE HE
HATES MITT ROMNEY AND ALWAYS HAS. HE IS AN INSIDER. HE WAS A CLINTON ADVISOR FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I DON'T TRUST HIM LIKE I DON'T TRUST THE CLINTONS NOR JOHN MCCAIN. THEY ARE ALL 1 IN THE SAME. JOHN WILL NEVER GET MY VOTE AND I AM A YOUNG GUY. I PAY ATTENTION TO POLITICS THUS I CANNOT SUPPORT JOHN MCCAIN.

McCain Can Go to Hell
I am an American and a Floridian. I served 25 years in the armed forces and fought in three wars. (Unlike the McCraken, my flying skills kept me from beign a POW.) While I defended Americ abroad, the enemy was let in here at home by McCain and his ilk. The one job Americans won't do is defend their boarder. As of this morning, I am no longer a Republican. McShamnesty is a liar and a poor excuse for a human being. I will NEVER support this man. He is vile and can not win, and must not win in November. After a lifetime of supporting Republicans, I have been raped too many times. I need to be cleansed of the filth and the sickness of this long relationship. I just sent a large check of money so Romney can fight on, but I am done. Becuase of the voter mototr bill, thousands, if not 10s of thousands of illegals voted yesterday in Florida. The Regan coalition is dead! It is dead becuase of the liberal wing of the party...McShamnesty, Graham, Martinez, Kyle, Specter, Crist, and others. McLiar's key advisor is a Mexican national and former member of the Mexican Fox's cabinet. The McIdiots are worse than bad Americans...they are UnAmerican. They get what they deserve. They have destroyed the party, they have destroyed America. It doesn,t matter if he wins in November, he won't, they have already opened the gates of hell. I will vote in November, but it will not be for this vile piece of human excrement. I will vote for NONE OF THE ABOVE, the only choice left.

Lest we forget

McCain v. Clinton
either way, we're hosed. sigh....

King Lib's gloating...
King Lib's gloating over his boy's winning just proves that McLame's a RINO scumbag. I can't believe that this stupid party is getting ready to nominate the liberals' pick. I'll vote for the turd in the general if he's nominated, but I'm absolutely, without a doubt going to vote for Romney in the primary next week. And as if I needed another reason to vote against McLame the RINO geezer, I have King Libtard's gloating endorsement of him. Thanks libs for helping to fortify my resolve.

Sure, Dick...
I'm supposed to listen to a self-described democrat's opinion on who can beat a democrat????
Amazing hubris, Dick.
Ditto to McCainiacs, who prove that the good ole' boy network is alive and well.
I'm either voting for Fred or voting for the democrat- at least they are honest about their policies, so I can oppose them; not geared to backroom deals with the most abhorrant of lefty congressmen.
McCain was a POW about half a century ago,so?
What has he done since then to keep Americans safe? The last time I checked, it was amnesty.
If McCain is a war hero, using the same benchmarks so is John Kerry.
And he was never captured.
Makes you think.

FELLOW CALIFORNIANS
TAKE A STAND AND DEFEAT DEFEATISM. JOHN MCCAIN IS THE DEMONcrat JUST LIKE BILLARY AND OBAMA. MITT ROMNEY IS OUR ONLY HOPE.

I love a Hillary vs McCain
matchup because the conservative has a better chance of winning. Reagan inexplicably had the support of a bunch of abortionists who voted for him, even while he was adamantly pro life. Is some of that for raising social security taxes and amnesty that Reagan favored. Maybe some, but moreso he was a leader of his time and was mostly conservative. McCain is no Reagan (as Bill Bennett says Reagan wasn't Reagan before he as Reagan either) but he is a conservative with a good chance of winning. If the talk radio crowd boycotts that does reduce his chances, no doubt, but he is still our best candidate in the general.

Is the US a banana republic?
Isn't it only a matter of Hillary/McCain time before we become a Chavez-type of socialist nightmare? Heck, Chavez was even trying to marginalize the Catholic priests in Venezuela.

McCain and his mini-me Hucksterbee engaged in Mormon-bashing and now we have McCain through hook and crook in the lead in delegates. I am so done with this pathetic political system and the criminals who run and benefit from it. You kicked a n excellent man named Romney to the curb yesterday. One who could probably fix what ails the US economic system with his razor-sharp mind? Instead we have a septuagenarian, Ariel Sharon-look alike, pre-stroke megalomaniac named McVain ready to repass the McShamnesty bill with his buddy Billary and don't forget the radical gay agenda. We will have that shoved down our throats too! Thanks MSM, thanks bigots, and hope you enjoy slitting your own economic throats. We will become a Mugabe-type, Russia-sized, Balkanized version of Belgium. Thanks Kristol, Medved and David Brooks!

King lib-
Practice what you preach, bud.
You slam repubs relentlessly, yet you're still here.
In the future you may refer to me as "Sir."

You Gotta Vote

Please do NOT stay home. You must vote. You do not have to vote for Hillybama or McAmnesty. There are always other parties and people on the ballot. You could write in Joe Oliva. The important votes are for House and Senate seats. Conservatives MUST win seats in the House. The House is where things get done. It was the passage of H.R. 4437 in Dec.05 that sparked the illegal alien protest marches and moved this issue to the front burner. It was the Senate that tried to jam amnesty down our throats. The D's that won seats in '06 were conservatives running on enforcement platforms. One of them, Heath Shuler D-NC, introduced the SAVE Act. Call, e-mail, or write your Congressman and urge support of this legislation. Enforcement is what Americans want, not amnesty.

I don't think Hillary is stupid enough to step in front of this bus. McCain is.

mccain's task
if mccain is to win over reluctent repubs he is going to have to convince the party he is in fact someone they can place their trust in. Perhaps he was too entrenched inside the beltway and merely lost his way while trying to get the senate to work on compromise rather than partisanship. But he will need to lay out what he will support and what he won't support as president. Perhaps he can convince enough to win the election. But amongst other things he will have to counter the latest claim by bubba that mccain and the missus clinton are very close. I don't think people will warm up to a candidate more concerned with pleasing kennedy and clinton than he is in advancing an agenda that is similar to that championed by the dims

GO HUCKABEE!!!!!
.

How Much More Obvious Can it Be?
The Fat RINO, Dork Morris, endorses Juan McAmnesty.

King Liberal endorses Juan McAmnesty.

Name a State with a more POROUS border than Arizona.

McAmnesty-Feingold, McAmnesty-Kennedy, McAmnesty-Liberalman, Gang of 14, etc.

JUAN MCAMNESTY IS A LIBERAL!

With a choice like this...
I guess this is why I'm unenrolled. McCain vs. Hilary? That's like Coke vs. Pepsi. they are both dark and will rot your teeth so what the difference? one might have more fizz then the other? big deal! The Republican party has lost it and I'm depressed. My call sign is Freedomlost for a reason, with either one of these Liberal in office we will lose just a little more freedom... be it free speech, open borders, higher taxes or national health care we are losing our Republic and most people just don't care. I don't get it...

McCain - I don't think so
I have been a lifelong Republican and if McCain wins the RNC, I may sit this one out. Let Hillary or Osama Obama finish off the country. My vote doesn't matter anymore anyway.

You Morris bashers
are pathetically funny. You are so upset that Morris has shown that Emperor Mitt and his talking head chatterers have no clothes on.

Go turn on Rush or Laura, they will sooth you with your vitriolic pablum.

Not a Chance

Another hold your nose and vote cycle. Or don't vote. Whatever. I don't recognize the Republican party anymore. You'd think we'd find better candidates - but we don't. Now we have another flyboy who graduated at the bottom of his class and who admitted he knew little about economics at the top of the ticket. On the other side, we have a repeat of the Clintons. I can't support either side, because they don't remotely represent my thinking.

Churchill once said that Democracy is the worst form of government - it's just better than the alternatives. And that's what we see.

Intelligence, track record, competence, etc., none of it matters. All that matters is the spin. People vote their emotions and choose mediocrity.

And then they trot this medocrity out to the rest of us and say vote for him - or her. Not a chance.

McCain is not even Bob Dole
The MSM has suckered the people who don't pay attention to the details of government.

Any Republican who actually pays attention to the details of the last 8 years in the Senate and how McCain consistently worked with Kennedy, Feingold, and Libermann to pass Socialist and unConstitutional laws would NEVER vote for McCain for President.

If the MSM wasn't giving him FREE and Positive air time, he would never have gotten this far.

Thank you ignorant Republicans for voting for this Socialist.

Vote for the US Constitution Party
There is still hope that Huckabee leaves the race soon and the race would narrow to Romney versus McCain (unless Huckabee stays in to be a spoiler to help McCain - I hope this is not true).

Romney would beat McCain one on one.

If McCain gets the nomination, my family of 6 registered Republicans will be voting for either the U.S. Constitution or Libertarian Party candidates for President (we still plan to vote for the conservative Republicans for US House and Sentae races).

Remember it was the conservative Republicans in the House that voted for a Border Fence and NO Amnesty.

MORRIS has NEVER NEVER been right
I have been listening and reading Dick Morris
for 8 years

HE HAS NEVER ONCE BEEN RIGHT

WE the independent conservatives who have
left the GOP because of wimps and sleaze like
liar McCain, Larry Craig, TOm Foley
GOP is no different than Democrats

WE refuse to sink to the bottom with McCain

we are more open to starting a NEW conservative party:

Said It Before
I won't vote for McCain. My wife won't vote for McCain. My 18 year old son won't vote for McCain. I'd vote for Ron Paul before I'd vote for McCain. If McCain takes the nomination, I'll check out...no more paying attention to the election....too irritating.

As for Romney's pandering, at least he panders to the right. McCain panders to the left.

If the country is determined to embrace socialism, then I want the catastrophe to occur with a dim at the helm, not someone pretending to be a conservative.

McCain is Dangerous
The very title of Dick Morris' article - "McCain may win but Romney can't" presumes that a McCain win is better than a Hillary win. Perhaps. Yet I seriously wonder whether if one is condemend to death, being shot or hanged is preferable. McCain is a demonstrable liar (i.e. the "timetable" slander against Mitt, and the denial of his "amnesty" support WHICH I HEARD). Then there is the US Supreme Court decision in Senator McCain vs. Wisconsin Right to Life, in which Justice Roberts and Alito (whom McCain claimed to support before he slandered Alito) wrote the decision, holding that McCain-Feingold (BCRA) section 203 was unconstitutional. Perhaps Dick Morris does not care about constitutional rights, but I do. I will never vote for McCain and will seriously consider switching sides, though I have been a Republican supporter for decades.

WILL not sink to bottom with Mccain
WE ARE SO DONE with the dysfunctional GOP

WE are going to take a stand this time and
NOT SINK to the bottom with mcshame

McCain and Hillary are identical twins

they play huggy bear and footsie on everything

McCain is the more dangerous of the two

McCain will destroy this country
McCain's Amnesty plan will destroy this country

it will suck the treasury dry

press 2 for English

McCain will take this country to a 3rd world
condition

WE WILL NOT SINK TO THE BOTTOM WITH MCSHAME

We rather vote for Obama, he kicked the Clintons down the steps and down the hall

if that is why we need McCain, I'll take my chances with the Kid:

Morris, like McCain, is a traitor
neither care about anyone or anything but themselves. Morris has made millions by dressing up like a republican (just like McCain!) . . . Morris argues that McCain MAY win BECAUSE of amnesty.

Opposition to amnesty crosses all party lines and at the national level could be the single issue to win dems and independents to a conservative candidate . . . but only if there is one, and McCain won't be.

I'm looking forward to the debates . . .i hope McCain has to stand next to Romney. . . McCain is such a commanding presence at 5 foot 7.

STOP
Dick

Please stop making predictions. I like your analyses and I love your Clinton bashing but you are about 100% wrong every time you to try predict the future.

1. "Condeleeza Rice is the Republicans only hope against Hillary". Give me a break. I respect Secretary Rice and would absolutely vote for her---me, you and her family and that's about all she would get. It was absurd for you to think she could win.

2. Mike Huckabee a serious contender? Yeah that one looks very strong also. After dupping several chubby Iowa farmer's wives into voting for him his victories have continued to hmmmmmmm shall we say reduce. He may continue to spoil some states for Govenor Romney and will then be forever remembered as one of the McCain offensive line (along with Thompson) who served to pick of Romney in order to hand McCain states he couldn't win on his own.

3. You used to work for the Clintons. No forgivenss for that.

McCain will not win and you should really go back to pundit school.

LibertyJaw...I bet...
They give McCain a milk crate to stand on, but I would love to hear Romney begin a rebuttal to McCain with "Listen Little man"... :)

Look Up Dickie Boy
Get your face up out of the pie charts and demographic readouts and look at this guy. He's old, ugly and he cant speak in public. he delivers his canned lines and then his pasted-on smile pops on for two seconds. He has a chicken-wattle neck, a notorious hot-button temper and he stumbles and fumbles around. Camelot Boy Obamarama will win fifty states. without a conservative message what is this walking cadaver going to bring to the table? NOTHING, which is what he has stood for for the last ten years. I've never voted for a Democrat in my life but if the Republican party establishment wants to foist this antiquated loser on me with a string of 30% 'victories' than Obamarama will be getting my vote. After all, crossing the aisle and voting with the Democrats is McLame Republicanism, isnt it?

Morris, McCain vs. Hillary or Obama
Long time reader, first time poster, and a big fan of Dick Morris' columns. They are usually well thought through and balanced, refreshingly free of hysteria, unlike in some other columnists' fare. This latest one is an example of a sound critical analysis of the current political situation. Mr. Morris presents his arguments clearly, concisely, and in a very, very realistic manner.
And this realistic outlook is exactly what we need now. And Dick Morris is probably correct: McCain is the only Republican candidate who can beat a Democrat in general, and a Clinton in particular, in a general election. Sad, but true. For me, personally, McCain wouldn't be the first choice, not even the second, but Hillary or Obama would not be even the 100's choice for me. Everybody who vents against McCain, remember what we are facing if the Republicans loose. I came to this country in the 70's from the USSR, believe me, I know!
Unfortunately, after 8 years of a very devisive presidency that managed to turn scores of democrates, our countrymen one and all, into the mental cases with BDS, electing another Republican is a tough proposition. And, look, even if Romney (would be my choice, after Guiliani bailed out) suceeds, do we need another case of RDS on our hands? I can almost hear many of you confronting me with: Why do we have to go out of our way to please the Democrats? But that is not what I mean. All I ask is:
1. When we vote in our primaries (for those who hasn't already), let's at least keep in mind the factor of electibility of our candidate,
and,
2. Let's keep in mind that if, and when, our Rep. candidate becomes a Rep. President, he will benefit mightily from an approval rating that is not stuck in the 30's courtesy of our Dem. countrymen (and women).

LibertyJaw
I agree!

ANYONE responsible for putting the two scumbags from Dope Ark in the WH deserve a "wood" shampoo followed up with a bath of tar and feathers!

skep41
Good point. Vote Dhimmicrat and let THEM destroy the nation vice McLame.

Morris has no morals
I dont care what he thinks about McCain. My issue is each time he makes an argument he tries to insult Hillary...WHY. Look Morris was a close aide of Clintons for years, so to always tell the public what they discussed then is an abuse of privilege.should be ashamed of himself. He does it all the time. what is phony about Hillary claim to experience. He comes of Fox to say all silly stuff wether he is asked or not. But truth is Morris is a hustler who can never get to where Hillary and Bill are today no matter what he says. We should also ask ...why did you leave the Clintons. no one is aying dont criticise but to make a career is sickening

GunnyG
With W (allegedly a Republican) intervening in the mortgage market and proposing a $175 Billion dollar cash giveaway while he threatens to reopen the Amnesty door what would interest a conservative in the Republican Party? In the UK the 'conservatives' introduced the idea that overweight people and smokers should be denied access to Government Health Care because their selfishness costs taxpayer dollars. If thats where we're headed I'll just go tend my cabbages and let my kids deal with the politics of 'Camelot'.

Morris writes:
So McCain can win and Romney won’t. That’s the long and the short of it.

I do not like Dick Morris
He aided the Klintons in their quest for power, knowing them well for the devils he now exposes them to be.
Only when the Klinton devils turned on him does he want the truth to come out about those two socialist/communist/menshevik loving anti Americans.

Now he is town crier filled with fear of the Klintons coming back to power, the Klintons are coming and are here! Be afraid, be very afraid!

Yeah Dick, we know that and thanks to liars like you who play the game of politics as does McCain and Romney, you just go into another promotion for the same crap we have seen from Washington DC for the last 50 years.

You and all the people like you who help divide this nation into democrats and republicans are the problem.
Why don't you go find a dish washing job, and leave politics alone.

Truth and verity are not ever going to be with such as you but only the same crap that now has America stumbling into globalism.
McCain and Romney are not worthy of the Office real Americans look to for leadership.

Only cause of men like you could a RINO like Romney or McCain be offered as the "lessor evil".
Hypocrite

Those evil Klintons
Are the very same people Dick Morris promoted into power with his lies.
Now that evil bit him in the a** and he comes here crying daily.

You make me puke Morris

Aching For A Democrat?
Is the nation is aching for a Democrat, when all the Democrats running will destroy our military and intelligence to the point of guaranteeing a successful nuclear attack on a major US city?

If Clinton or Obama become president, the US WILL be hit with a nuclear attack-guaranteed-no doubt about it. Are we really aching for 5 million dead Americans or more?

Anyone who doubts this should remember that Bill Clinton DID in fact hurt the military and our intelligence so bad we were unable to head off 911. What happened once will happen again under the same circumstances.

Sad but true
I arrived at the conclusion after watching the debates and speeches by the candidates that Romney will not win a general election. I watched my wife's reaction while Romney was speaking and saw the lights shut off. It was like she was watching a professor droning on about the mechanics of an internal combustion engine. Honestly, he just isn't appealing to women voters. Combine that with a lack of independent voters and you end up with no chance. As much as I dislike McCain on many levels, the overriding issue for me is loyalty to the troops. They have sacrificed far too much to have their accomplishment pissed away by some politician scoring political points. I cannot in good conscience let that happen. I will therefore be voting for McCain next week.

Agreed
Max writes: Yet I seriously wonder whether if one is condemned to death, being shot or hanged is preferable. =================================================

A McCain nomination is enough to make me wish for an independent run by Ron Paul. The last time the Republican Party got it arse kicked in a three way race we ended up with a Clinton, but we also had the Republican Revolution and the Contract with America two years later. After Newt quit it was back to business as usual and the "republicans" acted like lite-democrats and slowly got voted out of power. Maybe they won’t repeat the same mistake twice.

I prefer Romney, but
As McCain's mom indicated, if McCain is the nominee, I'll hold my nose and vote for him.

Look, he's at least got a perfect pro-life voting record, he's strong on the war on terror, and he said he would make the Bush tax cuts permanent. So he's obviously better on at least some issues than Hillary, who is pro-abortion, pro-defeat and pro-taxes.

On amnesty - I am very, very uneasy about McCain, but I also think securing the border is more important than the guest worker program. If he can actually secure the border and stop the influx of illegals plus terrorists posing as illegals and drug runners, gang members, etc., then giving him some on his guest worker proposal... ok, I still don't like it, but unfortunately, if it's McCain vs. Hillary in the fall, I've got to vote for McCain.

Just wondering
The Wise Doctor writes:Is the nation is aching for a Democrat, when all the Democrats running will destroy our military and intelligence to the point of guaranteeing a successful nuclear attack on a major US city?

If Clinton or Obama become president, the US WILL be hit with a nuclear attack-guaranteed-no doubt about it. Are we really aching for 5 million dead Americans or more?

-------------------------------------------------

Do you think a nuclear bomb coming in from Mexico under McCain will be any less devastating?

ct-tom - McCain vs. Hillary
True. What is the difference? He's a little better on the war? She's smart enough to know that she can't just pull the troops out. If this non-con wins the nomination, I'm voting 3rd party. I'm not voting for another non conservative political hack.

Temper baiting
Agree with earlier comments that the media loves McCain at the moment, but as soon as he (if) wins the nomination, they will turn on him, with the help of the Democratic party.

They will then systematically bait him, skillfully luring him into a major temper blowup. Oh, and then they will skillfully feign shock and horror, and wonder aloud whether he has the temparement and self control to handle the nation's nukes. All the media and pundits will wring their hands and shake their heads.

All very predictable, is it not?

McCain May Win, Romney Can't
Remember how Republicans served up Bob Dole to run against "Wild Bill" in 1996?

Talk about history repeating itself!

As conservatives head for the exits they will sit on the sidelines and see if "Amnesty John" can win with his independent and liberal admirers.

Its too late for "Amnesty John" to "reach out" to conservatives, the rift is too wide.

Get ready for Bilary! Sleep well.

McCain May Win, America Can't With Him
Dick Morris and Eileen McGann have done little more than demonstrate that

"McCain can win BECAUSE HIS POLICIES ARE ALMOST THE SAME AS CLINTON AND OBAMA."

How persuading - NEWSFLASH: water is wet.

Let's forget for the moment how often he insults conservatives and the Republican party (whether he enjoys it or not, with or without basking in every little NYT mention).

Nice that "he served" (albeit sinking 5 planes in the process), but forget that, too: That was then.

McCain is a threat to national security (excuse me: when speaking of McCain, one must specify which country. I am referring to the United States of America, not Mexico).

Currently, McCain's (and Juan Hernandez's) "immigration" policy mean not only an open border !hola! for the woman in his favorite little quip about "that soldier whose wife is illegal...of course we're not going to deport her!". Ask McCain sometime if he knows who crossed the border just before and just after this fabled "illegal wife". It is not unreasonable to ask: just another honest-but-hungry person or al Qaeda?

Dick could be right but...
if McCain chooses Colin Powell as his running-mate he'd beat Hillary or Obama in a landslide. Frankly, I'd like to see Obama become president -see how much he can screw up the USA (worse than Bush? it's possible), but then we couldn't accuse him of screwing up because then we'd be called "racists". What a dilemma!

You guys are lost....
McCain might win if Democrats vote for him as they do in the primaries, but you have a problem. They will vote instead for the Democratic nominee. Most Republicans will likely sit this one out rather than show up to vote for a liberal Republican, and a horrible excuse for a senator.

Honestly, you should stick to what you know, liberal populism. Stay OUT of the Republican primaries and candidates since it is quite obvious that you cannot cover any with any bias unless they happen to lean to the extreme left. McCain is, and always has been, an insult to the party. Glad to see that the world is going to fall apart under a Democratic watch. Maybe then people will wake up and finally figure this out.

Scariest of all . . .
I can't believe the low level of faith in our political system expressed by some posters here at this site. As well as the low level of "reasoning" where slam slogans and slander dominate. How cute.

And for those who say you'll not vote at all come next November: I hope you're just blowing off steam. If not you are truly disgusting. People have died so you could . . . sit on your hands and pout? And you bother to post and tell us about your deep feelings? wow. Do your posts (about not voting) count more than a vote in November?

For Hockey Goon
Sir-the nuclear bomb will not be coming in via Mexico. The terrorists know that would most likely fail. No-the bomb will come in in sections and parts to be put together here in the US right before detonation.

At least Mc Cain does have the desire to protect America from the Islamic Fascists who have vowed to extermiante every Jew and Christian in the world.

It looks to me
like the country has become democrats - people with no interest in national defense standing in line with their hands out for freebies stolen from the producers, and republicans - people who believe in national defense standing in line with their hands out for freebies stolen from the producers.
I'll have no further part of either, as a producer who's sick of being treated like a some sort of monster as I am being robbed of what I have earned to give an equal lifestyle to those who refuse to lift a finger.

McCain - not a bad Democratic choice.
Republicans should embrace McCain since he appeals to so many Democrats. McCain realizes that he can count on the votes of Republicans no matter what, so he is free to court Democrats by adopting the ideology of the far left. By luring away Democrat voters who are turned off by Hillary, McCain can become our new ruler while straddling the political fence.

This bodes well for Democrats, because no matter what happens on election day, a supporter of the most far reaching leftist policies will prevail. America will have the anmesty program it demands, free speech will finally be reigned in to a more government-friendly level, and Ted Kennedy will get his influence promoted in the White House.

So leftists can relax; McCain wouldn't be a bad thing for Democrats. It doesn't matter that he says he is a Republican, it is only important that he continues to act like a Democrat.

McCain '08 - Keating 5?

Games
Most of the head to head match up Dick is referring to do not use a good likely voter screen. McCain usually runs about 3 points stronger than Romney in the RAS head to heads with Dems. That is because Romney is not well known in many large states yet. He will be well known by the nomination and his head to heads will be fine.

Besides the head to heads don't mean much. They can change in a night.

One thing is real. McCain will not get the support of the anti immigration crowd and that will cause him to lose the general election. I do not really care what the polls say about match ups right now. McCain will not have support from a large block of Republican voters.

Age
The other major reason McCain will not win the general is age. He is 71 and looks it.

His mother may be 95 but his father died at 70 and his grandfather at 61. Age will be an issue. The Dems will not hesitate to use the age card.

Illegals and the vote
SteveL:"So if you don't want the GOP to reach out to Hispanics, then whom DO you want the GOP to reach out to?"

Hmm...Steve, you seem to have missed the point. The Hispanics that McCain reached out for when he coauthored the McCain/Kennedy amnesty bill are ILLEGALS. That would be 12 million of them. You have to admit,he had good timing. Right before running for president he tries to pass an amnesty bill. McCain isn't reaching out...he is reaching into each and every one of our pockets for free handouts to milllions...you must make more money than my husband. I cannot afford McCain.

Why give up so soon???
Comrade Morris and his ilk do conservatives a disservice in pushing McCain as if he has already wrapped up the nomination, and in claiming he is the only Republican able to win in November. I know political "journalists" and pundits make their living by inflating the latest "news", but c'mon -- enough already. Let's at least wait until after Super Tuesday to draw hard conclusions.
To do otherwise is to sway/scare the unthinking portion (unfortunately a sizable portion) of the Republican primary voters to defect to McCain. He's proven himself thru his actions to not be a conservative. (And I'm not talking a good ol' Reagan conservative, but just someone to the right of center.)
To my fellow conservative's: Don't be fooled by false prophets. Let's not give up on Mitt.

McCain is not the best candidate
1. If Senator McCain has any vision, or big ideas for the country, he has failed to articulate them.
2. McCain's candidacy is eerily similar to Bob Dole's: an arrogant old senator who despite his status as a genuine war hero is past his prime, is not particularly articulate, and lacks the vision to lead the country through difficult times.
3. Whatever cozy relationship McCain enjoys with the press will quickly evaporate when he is the Republican nominee.
4. Though McCain is currently projected as the only Republican who can beat Clinton, his support and name recognition are maxed out. He has no room to grow as a candidate, and when the real personal attacks begin in the general election, which he is too thin-skinned to withstand, he has nowhere to go but down. Romney's numbers will surely rise as the public becomes more familiar with him.

Romney a Republican Party hack
Morris has it right. Romney will get few indepedent and Democrat votes. Romney would have been better off running as a moderate rather than pandering to the right wing of the party, which comes across as phony. McCain gets a lot of votes for just being a genuine war hero and there are few of them in either party. McCain is also not a knee jerk political hack who votes the party line no matter how bad the policy is. He recognizes that in order to get things done in Washington you have to be able to appeal to the other side. Even Reagan understood that and he is revered by Republicans obviously. What's really laughable is the religious conservatives who like Romney whereas Romney could care less about them, and not because of his religion. Deep down he is a Wall Street hedge fund man whose skill set is laying off people. He hangs out with his fellow rich folks at the country club. We need to rid ourselves of electing these rich folks who only reward their fellow rich folks. McCain represents the average American who has to struggle to make a living.

Time will come for you.
There will be a time soon,
You Dick and John F. Kerry
and Bill Clinton will be
with others who "We the People"
will vote off the island,
"We will revoke your citizenship"
Ask you to leave and pay the way.

I can't believe
Anyone has any faith in this government or political parties.

As to the low level of slander and slam slogans, its the daily faire from the candidates themselves.

Someone must be living under a rock to miss it in these "informed" days.

Tag Team Politics
One of the great failings of the Bush Administratioin, among many failures, was the absolutely stupid positioning of Cheney as the VP. What a brilliant stroke to have no experienced VP positioned to be a viable Presidential candidate. This Administration has been the most politically inept in memory. And don't tell me about the Karl Rove, my gosh, he nearly lost to Al Gore and John Kerry, the two worst candidates the Dems could have ever selected. And, who kept Bush from vetoing any GOP spending, that was brilliant!

What about McCain as President and Romney as VP? McCain serves for a single term, the age thing you know, and then Romney runs as a seasoned VP. I believe this could defeat Mr. and Mrs. Clinton and possibly put a final end to the Clinton/Bush dynasties. Although McCain is not a true conservative, he is far more conservative than the socialist Clinton team. He would also put an end to the group of idealistic neo-cons that dominated the Bush administration. I believe McCain is a realist and will focus first on what is good for THIS country instead of spending our time and treasure on "saving" all of mankind. And, McCain could certainly use Romney's economic and business expertise and contacts in orgaizing a well rounded administration - that would be refreshing after the dunderheads in the current administration; i.e. Cheney, Rumsfield, Bremer, Libby, Rove, O'Neil, Rice (a real lightweight), Tennet, Wolfiwitz, Franks, et al. At least Bush cut taxes and finally (after Harriett Myers?) appointed great judges.

In it to win
It was very telling when Ann grabbed the mic and sounded the battle cry. The Romney's are in this to win. The Boston Globe just leaked the battle plan. Based on the campaign stops the Romney's are not conceding to McCain. They are are going after McCain nationally and Huck in the South and Midwest.

Ann said they had the resources. Now is the time to ante up. McCain can be stopped if conservatives will rally and write the checks that are needed. Super T is winnable.

We are not going away.

What good is desire without the willingness to act? With McCain's open southern border what prevents terrorist from bringing in nuclear weapon(s)? McCain's desire? Our national defense relies upon a wish and penny in a well? Get real.

Not to mention the current financial burden illegals creat. But McCain has a plan - cater to the desires of the illegals and it might bring in some votes.

To those--
To those who are against juan mcshamnesty, I am with you all the way. I live in a border state and I know what a sham the RINO group along with the dimorats have been on border security. So if any of the so called bleeding hearts out there will send us a money order for the extra taxes we pay for the social services we have to provide for these illegal alien parasites, then we might listen to your whining. But not for long.

Why Not to Vote
Scenario #1: I vote for McCain, he wins and next year there's a vote on amnesty. My reps won't hesitate to vote for amnesty because McCain won after all and now they don't dare vote against him.

Scenario #2. i voice my vote by not voting. Hillary wins and amnesty is on the floor. My reps fight it tooth and nail because they saw the base revolt and their not afraid to fight Hillary.

hmmmm... what to do? I think its clear as day.

apoplectic
McIdiot doesn't support the troops. He opposed Bush all along on troop support. He has called our troops torturers and stood in the way of the tools necessary to support the war...FISA,funding, equipment, etc. He has backed every liberal experiment in the miltary propsed by the DEMs. His service to his country (1960s) is old and irrelavent. His rehtoric about the surge is just that. It is his lone attempt to have a "conservative" ideal. The man is a phony. In Florida, he didn't win a majority of the military vote so I am not alone. As a member of the military, I loath the man. I wouldn't invite him into my house. BTW the fact that I won't vote for him in November isn't my problem...it the McIdiots' problem. It isn't our responsbility to vote for this loser, or any other. My right not to vote includes selecting NONE OF THE ABOVE.

Why Not to Vote
SVARA and MLNICOSIA

Well said...AMEN!

Dick! - Get it right. Cut the nonsense
Dick's been predicting the demise of Romney now since before the primaries began. Won't make double digits he said. Seems a ludicrous statement now. It's now a two horse race between Romney and McCain. At the end of the day he may be right and Romney loses but to say Romney can't win a general election, McCain might is hysterical. McCain can never win. Who will fund a candidate who will be lucky to see out one term let alone two. Anne Coulter is right. McCain will make Bob Dole look like a dream candidate in comparison.

Mike
The point is, the Dems (Clinton or Obama) will sound the retreat from Iraq. I can think of no worse thing you could do to the troops. All of their sacrifice for nothing. Romney will not win the general election for the reasons I pointed out. Huckabee has even less of a chance. I loathe McCain too, but am left playing the hand I am being dealt. I will not throw my brothers in arms under the bus out to get back at a Rino.

ts-- "I can't believe Anyone has any faith in this government or political parties."

DH
I can understand that sentiment, but more accurately I was referring to our system of Primaries, Caucuses and voting. Not to the present government administration nor to any particular party. If we don't trust the system of voting we're all dead in the water.

ts-- "As to the low level of slander and slam slogans, its the daily faire from the candidates themselves."

DH
Not so much this year. Such tactics are backfiring. And even if it were all down and dirty on the part of the candidates, I'm not sure that's a good reason for engaging in mindless sloganeering ourselves as a substitute for actual thoughts when it comes to our discussion of those candidates.

Your piece on Morris, for example, was nothing more than an attempt at character assassination. You said nothing about his article. I thought his article was well done. Am I supposed to change my mind because you don't like the guy?

AMC, on the other hand, made some points of rebuttal which were worth thinking about whether I agree with him or not.

Why TO VOTE
Mike and MLNICOSIA want to sit it out.

I'll skip the part about how offensive this is to those defending our freedom, but please take note. I'll only mention here that I consider such an (in)action to be an abdication of responsibility as an American citizen.

Consider your "Hillary" scenario further, please (i.e. were she to win):

SHE chooses 2-to-4 of the next Supreme Court judges...for HOW MANY DECADES to come?!

SHE requires your kids to go to government-sponsored pre-K (...get 'em hating America and the traditional family even earlier!).

SHE makes you say "buh bye" to conservative talk radio.

SHE taxes you - of course, only until it's "socially just."

SO REMEMBER: it's NOT just about the next four years...she'll make sure any major social programs are as impossible to dissemble as The Gereat Society.

Your childish vanity is revolting.

Wrong
After the MSM, DNC, and Clinton machine takes McCain apart on his changes of position and explosive temper, his poll numbers in October are going to be lower than they were last summer. I can even see a new "Daisy" commercial, in which McCain blows his top followed by the nuclear explosion. Lyndon Johnson would be proud.

McCain has much less of a chance than Bob Dole in 96.

Why McCain?
Wednesday, January 30, 2008

The latest Rasmussen Reports survey of Election 2008 shows Republican frontrunner Senator John McCain with single-digit leads over Democratic Senators Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. McCain now leads Clinton 48% to 40%. He leads Barack Obama 47% to 41%.

My fellow Republicans: Do we want to win? Rasmussen is depicting favorable stats supporting the McCain candidacy. These are serious numbers, so consider the ultimate goal of a GOP victory before you discount Big Mac. Despite conservative complaints, McCain does maintain a number of mainstream positions that will appeal to the general electorate. I personally believe Mitt Romney is the most qualified candidate, but I really, really want to win in November. Which candidacy to support is becoming an increasingly tough, really tough decision when you consider the stakes involved. Conservatives will not be suffered gladly under a Clinton presidency.

Give it some thought...

Dick Morris is a Democrat Strategist
What else would he say? Just like much of the MSM he wants the conservative movement to die with its main champion, Mitt Romney.

Dick appears on Fox News, he appears in TownHall, pushing these views. His anti-Hillary agenda has given him him cover for his anti-conservative agenda.

Dick Morris is smart enough to know that Mitt Romney is the main threat to the liberal agenda. If they can stop him, they win. If they get McCain as an opponent, they win. Just look at the liberal bloggers crow over their Florida win.

Dole was wiped out...
is McVain next...the last time we held our nose and thought it was Dole's turn we had our butts handed to us...won't this be a repeat of the same legislative compromiser that we had in Bob Dole. We need a real leader, not a legislator who loves to poke out the eye of the GOP! NO THANKS! I am not taking part in the coming GOP electoral disaster if the swain McVain has the nomination. And his disgraceful evangelical-pandering mini-me Hucksterbee is equally disgraceful!

Title Nonsensical
Why is it that Dick Morris proclaims that "McCain may win, Romney can't"? This makes no sense. If Romney can't win, by definition McCain does.

Romney took a hit in Florida, orchestrated by bad faith in some cases dishonest political maneuvers. But let's be honest, Romney may yet win.

Conservatives and those of us who value honest competition are telling ourselves "McCain can't!"

If Republicans rally around Romney
he can win the General election! He has the intelligence, change message, leadership abilities, presidential bearing and health care plan from governing in liberal Massachusetts to take on even the putatively formidable Clintons.

Can you imagine him asking tough questions of inexperienced Obama? I hope he shows this tonight with his tag-team rivals. Romney's focus on the issues can curtail hot air, burst windbags, let wind out of the sails, while remaining pleasant.

Let's not allow the media to rule us. Let's make actions speak more loudly than words. Romney can win!

On Dance.
Some dance,
with words,
some stumble,
with ideas,
some never
catch the tune,
and ideas never
come to know them at all.

Its you Dick, no beat,
bad knees, mush for ideas.

dick morris
morris is no more than a hired gun. While he can give his observations of the clintons, less anyone forget he was also the architect to much of what they did to win elections. So if the clinton's have used dirty tricks, morris is aware of what they did. Morris might know the dirty tricks game but that doesn't make his a pollinbg expert. But it appears from what people have been saying is that they are more worried about romney being a mormon than in mccain being a dim lightweight.

Pathetic
I am saddened as to the state the GOP has reached, when John McCain is the likely nominee. I would hope Huckabee has the wisdom and courage to drop out now and give his support to Romney. We will vote for Obama or not vote at all if McCain is our nominee.

Mitt Romney won a battle that perhaps you have never fought, against arrogance, vanity and pride. In so doing he has serve Americans at a spiritual level, that some may never know of."

Kipling wrote of it in the renown poem "IF"

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you.
If you can trust your self when all men doubt you,
but make allowance for their doubting too.
If you bear to see the truths you have spoken,
Twisted by naves to make a trap for fools
Or watch the things you gave your life to,
Broken and build them up with worn our tools.
If you can force your heart and nerve and sinew
To serve their turn long after they are gone.
and so hold on when there is nothing in you,
except the will that says hold on.
Kipling (The few lines that I recall.)

"I hope that we can pay the price that others paid, to keep this country free, while they themselves lie in the grave. Can we retain the hope and flame of freedoms gift, if we do not respond to hopes beckon call, that freedom is for all, for the strong to share their strength, and the wise to share their wisdom, and set the stage of freedom for all humanity: found in humble daily service and personal accountability."

If Krusty kicks bucket, we still lose!
The worst part is that McCain is going to pick his liberal lapdog Huckabee to be his running mate. So even if by some miracle his decaying old body finally gives out, he'll be replaced by another RINO! Ugh.

A vote for McCain sends America down the drain.

McCain mutiny
If McCain gets the nomination either Hillary or Obama will win in a landslide. This defeat is being brought to you by the RNC, this is a throwback to when they ran Dole "because it was his turn", now it's because McCain has "experience and is respected". Face it, McCain is a nut case loser, it's time the RNC realizes who has won the past elections for them.

Open Letter to Rush Limbaugh
Dear Rush:

For the first time ever I think I’m going to go into the ballot box this November to vote for a third-party candidate for President. I try to convince myself otherwise but I can’t do it. We need an alternative that can ensure that McCain is not elected, and can embarrass the queasy moderates who begat this nomination.

You could and would embarrass McCain by beating him in the popular vote. You would also take substantial fundraising away from McCain and severely limit his ability to get out his message. It would only further enhance your legend status when you returned to the air in November.

What do you have to lose? You’ve got everything in place already and you would only sacrifice three months of air time at the most. In the best case scenario conservatives would flock to you and the supporters of your independent candidacy would use your popular vote victory over McCain as a springboard for redefining and reuniting the Reagan coalition going into 2010 and 2012.

It would be a blast for you. The media would be forced to include you in the debates and you could toy with the MSN moderators, McCain, and Clinton with a recklessness that they would never dare.

Finally and most importantly, a rumble between you and McCain would animate the GOP base and help blunt the damage that a McCain candidacy will surely cause to the Republicans in the Congressional Elections.

Think about it. You could announce two or three weeks before the Republican Convention and take all of the spotlight away from McCain.

The Country is counting on you. You are the only Republican who could make this work to the advantage of the party and the party...And it would be a lot of fun.

McCain
I think Skep 41 pretty well sums up my feelings regarding McCain.

What difference
Does it make if McCain wins or Hillary wins? The speed at which the country is destroyed, is all.

If McCain gets the nod, I vote Clinton. If Obama gets the nod, I get drunk on election night rather than vote. I won't vote for that scumbag who badmouthed President Reagan. (If you brag about fighting against President Reagan in the 1980s, you're the dirt upon which the hippo deposits his waste material.)

Ekstasis - hush
Shaddup...

"They will then systematically bait him, skillfully luring him into a major temper blowup. Oh, and then they will skillfully feign shock and horror, and wonder aloud whether he has the temparement and self control to handle the nation's nukes. All the media and pundits will wring their hands and shake their heads.

All very predictable, is it not?"

Stop warning him.

SEEMS I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE FEELING SICK
AFTER LAST NIGHT'S MCCAIN WIN, I FELT SO PHYSICALLY SICK AND SADDENED THAT I CRIED FIRST AND THEN WENT OUT FOR A LONG WALK. WE SHOULD HAVE SEEN THIS COMING AFTER SCHWARZENNGER WIN IN CA. THAT MADE ME SICK TO SEE ALL THESE SO CALLED RINO POLITICIANS COME OUT TO SUPPORT HIM WHEN WE HAD A FANTASTIC PERSON IN TOM MCCLINTOCK.
AND THEN I READ THIS CRAP PUT OUT BY MORRIS THAT WAS THE SAME CRAP AS ALL THE RINO'S IN CA SAYING THE SAME THING" WE GOT TO SUPPORT SCHARZENNGER BECAUSE EVEN THOUGH MCCLINTOCK IS GREAT, HE CANNOT WIN" HAD WE HAVE ALL RALLIED AROUND MCCLITOCK, HE WOULD HAVE WON. PERSONALLY, I HAVE NEVER FELT THIS SCARED AND HOPELESS ABOUT AN ELECTION AS I DO NOW. I CANNOT DESCRIBE THE FEELING I HAVE BUT THERE IS SO MUCH CORRUPTION AND I FEEL IT AROUND ME AND IT IS OUT THERE AND EVERYONE ACCEPTS IT WITHOUT ANY QUESTION. I FEEL THE POWER OF THESE POWERFUL MONEYED LIBERALS WHO WANT TO TAKE OVER AND DESTROY WHAT LITTLE WE HAVE LEFT. I JUST DO NOT UNDERSTAND HOW AMERICANS CAN FEEL SO STRONGLY ABOUT THE IMMIGRATION PROBLEM ONLY TO TURN AROUND AND WANT TO SUPPORT JOHN MCCAIN..IT JUST DOES NOT MAKE SENSE TO ME. AS UNEASY AS I FELT ABOUT RUDY BECAUSE HE WAS MORE LIBERAL THAN I LIKED, I BELIEVE IN MY HEART HE WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE RESPECTFUL OF THE CONSERVATIVES WHO WOULD HAVE ELECTED HIM AND NOT IMPOSED HIS PERSONAL VIEWS ON US. BUT I DO NOT FEEL THAT WAY ABOUT MCCAIN.......I BELIEVE IT IS A PERSONAL VENDETTA THAT HE HAS. I JUST FEEL DISOLLUSIONED AND HOPELESS AND AFRAID FOR OUR COUNTRY AT THIS TIME. NOTHING WILL EVER BE THE SAME. WHAT IS WRONG HERE, WHERE HAVE WE ALL GONE SO VERY WRONG TO LET IT GET THIS FAR.

Amnesty Helps McCain?
McCain sweeps the Hispanic vote in Florida

HC-In the first Republican test of strength among Latino voters, Arizona Sen. John McCain won by a landslide.

Early exit polls cited by Fox News found that McCain was taking 50 percent of the Hispanic vote. Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, who campaigned long and hard in Miami’s Little Havana, was running second with 26 percent. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney was a distant third at 16 percent, and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee rated little more than an asterisk at 5 percent.

About half of the Latino voters were Cuban-Americans, a traditional Republican voting bloc in the Sunshine state. Overall, Hispanics comprised one in ten of the GOP primary voters.

McCain's Message
John McCain:

I'm a strong advocate of national security!

Mexicans have a right to come here illegally!

****

Yeah, there's a winning platform!

harryo
blame the pc nonsense that maintains all cultures are equal, except for that in americ a which by it's racist nature is inferior. Blame the congress that unlike other countries in the world doesn't have a national language. Blame those in the govt following the lead of the president who has become the leading cheerleader for illegals and thus sees that our borders aren't protected and our immigration laws enforced. Blame congress that even when 70% of the voters told them they wanted an end to shamnesty still didn't get the message to work on fixing a broken system and merely kicked the problem down the road. But blame the dims like kennedy, clinton durbin et all who want to give the illegals a quick path to citizenship in order to have more dim voters. When congress wants to give away our precious right to vote to those who have earned the right to citizenship, it becomes the time to vote out these bums in congress who think they are both above out laws and show continued distain for the voters

What happens to the candidates now...
Everyone has to check out the article “White Voters with a Side of Hispanics” on the blogzine Savage Politics. This is an awesome discussion and analysis on the current Democrat and GOP candidates and their eligibility.

http://www.savagepolitics.com
Here is an excerpt: “Tuesday night’s Florida Primary was a very important episode in the drama in which both the Republican and Democrat Parties are unfolding towards the Presidency of the United States. It also dramatically demonstrated the incredible bias that the Media continues to display towards the Democratic hopeful Barack Obama, in spite of all the evidence pointing to his lack of viability. From MSNBC’s Chris Mathews, who openly stated the day before that any Network that decided to report on the Democratic voting results in Florida was proving a “gross” favoritism for Hillary (ironically enough his Network ended up having to cover it nevertheless), to CNN’s pundits, who continuously utilized the exact same rhetoric that the Obama Campaign was spewing to excuse their defeat (”Beauty Pageant” was their favorite phrase, with all the sexist connotations it implies). All the same, the Florida results in the Democratic side were overwhelmingly favorable to Hillary Clinton, who won a 50% margin, to Obama’s 33%, Edwards’ 14%, and Gravel’s 1%. On the Republican side, it was John McCain who came out victorious with a 36% margin, to Romney’s 31%, Giuliani’s 15%, Huckabee’s 14%, and Paul’s 3%. Let’s discuss each Party’s results and their realistic consequence.
First, we have the very significant victory of John McCain. His candidacy was, from the very start, labeled as a failure due to his unpopularity amongst most “base” Republicans, much of it owed to McCain’s overwhelmingly dubious record on Conservative issues. His notorious tendency to side with multiple (highly despised) Democrats on issues like…” Find the rest of the article at http://savagepolitics.com/?p=64

Amnesty John ?

With a wink and a nod...

John tells Conservatives, "I hear you".

In other words...

"I needed the Mexican vote to get re-elected to the Senate", and, "We will need the Mexican vote to win the White House over Hillary".

He is speaking quite cleary... "Let me do what "we" need to do to win the White House".

I didn't vote for John in the primary...

But, I'll crawl through sh** for John in November.

And, I won't even need to plug my nose :)

Let's get rid of the Mitt!
We need to do EVERYTHING in our power to STOP Mitt "I can flip flop on any issue" Romney!

http://osi-speaks.blogspot.com/2008/01/as-predicted-here-ru dy-911-giuliani.html#links

lets run Lieberman
He has the same positions as MCCAIN and is much younger to boot. He does not tell other people to **** off either.

I, like Dumb Morris am quite sure Lieberman would have a better chance against HILLARY than any GOP candidate.

He would be a step up on MCCAIN. He never claimed to be a conservative republican and when he did not act or vote as one,,,, I could respect that.
Mccain, I cannot.

Soo,,, my new write in candidate will be LIEBERMAN.

McCain/Grahamnesty (D) ?

When I heard McCain's Hispanic Outreach guy was none other than Smiling Juan Hernandez, I knew John McCain has heard nothing we have had to say.

Smiling Juan Hernadez
We know who he is, we know his loyalties are to Mexico, we know he wants to erase our borders and immigration laws.

JOHN MCCAIN, YOU NEED A NEW HEARING AID

Mitt lied tonight on entitlements
There was a lot of tension and anger tonight, but I still think it is too little too late for Romney. Had Romney run on his true positions and not tried to do what Hugh and others told him he had to do to win conservatives, well, things might have been different.

For example--Romney went off on entitlements tonight, but he criticized John McCain in Florida for voting against expanding Medicare entitlements just two days ago (specifically to alienate McCain from senior voters in Florida). McCain took the conservative position and voted against expanding entitlements and Romney attacked him on it two days ago! That was flat out disingenuous and contrary to the position Mitt Romney said tonight on the subject.

To Buck re 9;36 PM Post Question
The agenda is to elect a pro-life fiscal conservative Republican to the Presidency who is by far the most qualified person to be the next Commander in Chief. McCain is shown in the polls to defeat Hillary and Obama, whereas all the other Republican candidates are shown as losing to Hillary and Obama, with Romney losing by the widest margins.

McCain , just another career politician
This is depressing, to see such talent possibly go to waste. Romney is as close to an ideal POTUS that our country can produce today. No candidate is perfect. I want to be led by someone I can look up to and admire. Representative republic, remember? Not an angry liar. Apparently, as a people, we really don't want leadership skill,or high character or someone who is too much smarter than us. We want "one of us". McCain is disgusting. All I see is a petty, jealous, little power hungry troll. "one of us"? A career politician of the worst kind. a genuine traitor. The lovingly applied label "Maverick" by the MSM is all you need to know. BTW, I served as an enlisted man in the Air Force from 84' to 92'. Just being a wing or squadron Commander in no way makes you magically lose your selfish impulse. Sorry, he reminds me a bit of Nikita Khrushchev too. I will sit this one out if he gets the nomination. Can you say 1996? Actually it is much worse.

John McCain = Disaster in November
Wake up you McCaniacs!

Not only will a John McCain candidacy result in a huge and certain defeat that will make Bob Dole's candidacy look like the glory days of the GOP, enough conservative voters will stay home that the Republicans will also lose many more seats in Congress than they otherwise might. McCain will be the worst thing that can possibly happen to the Republican Party. ANY other candidate would be preferable to that tired old weasle.

Neither McCain *NOR* Romney can win...
--
...because the only thing that either one of 'em has to "sell" to the public is the same old "Socialist Party B" RINO crap.

Anyone who would be attracted to either of these toads can get his fill of pure-quill "Government-as-Santa-Claus" Nanny State horsepuckey from Obama or The Woman With One Eyebrow.

D'you honestly think that McCain *OR* Romney can come close to mobilizing the Republican core constituencies?

Make all the noise you like about the senior Senator from Arizona having an "in" with the Latinos; more important is the fact that this "Keating Five" charter member is *DESPISED* by both fiscal and social conservatives.

And his Mormonism notwithstanding, Romney is a "Blue State Republican," just like Giuliani.

I submit that any putative "Republican" who can get voted into office in the People's Democratic Socialist State of Taxachusetts is the kind of spineless weasel who appeals to "Red State" conservatives about as much as a twenty-days-dead corpse.

The Republican Party is going *DOWN* in November.

Unless....

Well, hell. All you Townhall.com "Rockefeller Republicans" know where this is going.

Unless you give up all this RINO posturing, gut it up, and nominate a candidate as much like Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan as you possibly can.

And you'd just *HATE* the hell out of that, wouldn't you?

Ron Paul is the GOP's only hope, whether you stupid sumbitches like it or not.

Sure, you might lose with this guy leading the ticket.

With either McCain *OR* Romney, however, you *WILL* lose.

And you'll lose in a fashion that will cripple the GOP for the next twenty years.

--

Robert you must be joking with this
"You folks ruled the roost for a long time and its grinding down."

In reference to the right, or conservative base of the Republican Party.

George Bush won the first time with hesitant conservative support. The second was in his call to stay in Iraq instead of a changing of strategy which we beleived entailed virtual abandonement of our efforts in Iraq (not simply just a change in local tactics.) by his opponents.

His no child left behind and quest for a gov. perscription drug program again were cause for pause by the conservatives in his secound run, yet again we supported a candidate that we did not agree with on everything for the greater good.
Going back to the 1996 election conservatives were saddled with another candidate that curried luke warm support with the co-sponsor of the Americans with disabilities act and several other accross the isle compromises. That went just as we planned didnt it?

Yeah thats us the base that has gotten everything our way and stompped its feat like the little children we are when not given every little piece of cake we wanted! Get real. Oh wait I forgot who I was talking to.

The Election
So just who the hell is voting for McJackass in the primaries anyway? If McCain gets the nomination, don't give up and stay home. There are congressional races to be run too. As for president, write somebody's name in.

With John McCain's Help

Si se puede (Yes We Can)
Yes we can:
Ignore your laws.
Enter your country any time we feel like it.
Collect benefits to which we are not entitled.
Tell you what your immigration policies should be.
File thousands of lawsuits to prevent you from enforcing your laws.
Vote in your elections fradulently.
Take your country.

The GOP establishment doesn't get it!
The McCain-Kennedy amnesty bill outraged the conservative base and cost the GOP control of Congress. That was only just last year - remember? Now you want to repeat that fiasco and guarantee a Democrat victory by nominating that very leader and figurehead of the shamnesty bill? What are you thinking?!?! A McCain nomination will give us the exact same result as McCain-Kennedy - it will without doubt cost the GOP the presidency while driving Congress further toward the left. Party leaders seem to have no clue how badly the conservative base simply DESPISES that man! Please - give us anyone but John McCain!

Do unto the repubs as they do unto us.
I am a life long republican who has never missed a single election. But for the first time every I will vote for the democratic candidate. The republicans need a lesson which will extend into the next friggen century. Perhaps then they will come to understand that they can not force on us a candidate who will screw us over while having an R after their name with which to help ONLY they in their next election bid.

Shefali
McC has a perfect prolife record? Interesting.
I doubt Border Agent Luis Aquilar, 32, father of 2 young children would agree that McC is perfectly prolife. Luis is dead, deliberately run down by a humvee that swerved to hit him as tried to lay spike strips down. The humvee was racing through an AMERICAN campground for the border, endangering AMERICAN families. Ditto for several other Border Agents who've lost lives because this self promoting "hero" refused to live up to his oath. (Luis Blood is also on Bush's head).
Cares for the troops? You mean the wounded vet he visited for a photo op, leaving immediately afterwards. All heart that guy.
Or joining with Hanoi John in spiking the MIA/POW report with testimony of LIVE sitings still in S.E. Asia..FOR A BUINESS DEAL WORTH MILLIONS>
Old John never has had a problem with having his palms crossed (I'm sure he envies Judas and thinks he was stupid for taking the 30 pieces back)
Which leads me to my final point about sweet talking, caring John..Ya think with an Agent of Mexico on his campaign staff (yeah, I know he's at a university now, but we've had moles in the past) he isn't on the take of a Foreign Government. Mexico says JUMP and Old Patriotic
John asks how high and when can I come down. Like the Clintons, I doubt John doesn't do anything without $$$ crossing his palms.

Oliva/:Paul
Not if Joe makes a run and picks Paul as his running mate.

Robert you did not disapoint me
Again your ability to merrily go about your theoris with no regard for the truth is awe inspiring.

The People's Candidate
It was a lively debate in California on January 30th. Romney pinned McCain down on his so obvious lies and made him squirm, smile when a smile was not warranted, and lash out illogically.

Throughout the debate Romney clearly demonstrated his superiority to McCain on all the issues, and on meaningful real world experience. He even leveled McCain's proud claim to be the great American "leader" because he once commanded several hundred airmen. (As a former governor Romney led the entire national guard in his state.)

In my opinion McCain clearly revealed to the watching world his dishonesty, tendency to illogically act out, and his unpresidential bearing and demeanor. I do NOT want John McCain representing me to the world!

As I see it, the only real hope for America and Americans is Mitt Romney. Romney is the only candidate with the personal resources, proven expertise, and the will to stand up to the insider lawyer/politicians and fix Washington so that the people's servants in both parties actually serve the people again, instead of their power hungry selves and the biased interests of lobbyists.

Moderate Mark
You couldn't be more wrong, Wobbie is NOT popular, he's just so freaking ignorant that you can't ignore replying to the colossally stupid things he says, just to laugh at his ignorance if nothing else.

Wobbie wouldn't know he was on fire if he was looking right into the flames.

Roberts popularity not
It aint that he is popular it is that he so regularly uses twisted definitions of valued virtues to back totally objectionable ideas that many, try as we might cannot stand to say nothing to correct his arogance. Not that we think we would have any affect on him we just cant let his words ride without response.

Justamere10,
I didn't see the debate tonight but I can believe what you said about McCain with no trouble. The man is a snake.

Did you hear him in his acceptance speech the other day saying that he's the Conservative Voice, several times?

It seems to me that if you're really conservative you don't need to tell people you are. You words and actions show it, every time.

What were they watching
A life long Republican, I feelt a need to support my state's favorite son, even though I am unable to point to anything substantial he has done for this state with his claims of being a border state Senator. Illegal immigrant highways through our deserts, illegal immigrant gang members controlling parts of the city, Phoenix, rapes and murders of even our police officers, state of choice for human trafficking by smugglers, one of the "Keating Five" for which he was rebuked by the Senate Ethics Committee. Straight talk Senator, I listened to your rambling this evening taking your opponent's words out of context, inability to answer the question on McCain-Kennedy which has finally turned me against supporting your campagne in any way. When I next receive your staff's email telling how great you did just as the commentators from MSNBC and CNN have been this evening. I will inform them, I will not vote for you regardless of the consequences, the Clinton's back in the White House. I wonder if I am alone, maybe I am, but loosing this general election may just be what the Repubs need for supporting a McCain candidacy. In fact, I am believing the media's love affair with McCain is a set up for a Republican failure in Nov. Yes the AZ Republic will support you, they support your liberal views. This is going to be a painful 4 years.

That's true Mark
He CAN give an answer. It's just that his answers almost never have anything to do with reality, or the situation you're trying to discuss with him.
And, as Dough mentioned, his arrogance knows no bounds.

What McCain *DIDN't* learn in the Navy..
--
...was how to command.

Per Robert:

"McNasty's best asset and he learned this in the Navy is how to compromise, how to 'get along'..."

That'll come naturally enough to somebody who's never had command responsibility above the level of a division officer aboard an aircraf carrier.

It's not what his father and grandfather learned, however. The elder had a carrier task group in the 3rd/5th Fleet during much of War Two, and finished the war in command of Task Force 38/58 entire. The younger had command of a sub during that same period, and held the post of CDRUSPACOM during the Vietnam War (1968-1972).

Knowing "how to compromise" isn't exactly the polar opposite of knowing how to *COMMAND*, but it sure as hell isn't necessarily contributory.

What McCain has demonstrated is that he most assuredly *DOES* know "how to compromise" anything resembling a moral or political principle he has ever espoused.

Including his oath of office, to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign or domestic.

The nomination of McCain will be a disaster that will body-slam the Republican Party, and prove - for once and all - the utter bankruptcy of the RINO campaign to turn the GOP into "Socialist Party B."

*YOU* may just quiver with orgasmic ecstasy at such a thought.

I've got kids and grandkids, and I'm mightily pissed off that they're going to have to suffer the consequences of the stupidity displayed today by you and your ilk.

--

I wouldn't worry too much Harvey
McCain hasn't got the nomination yet, and very likely won't get it. He's just too untrustworthy.
I don't know who he thinks he's fooling with all of the crap he spews, but it's not the conservatives.
The MSM DOES want us to support him though, so they can come back on him as soon as he has the nod and literally destroy him withg all the dirt they've been gathering on him for years.

MM on GOP Congressional Prospects
Actually I have been following this fairly closely, and had come up with around 45 GOP vs 25 Dem with both having sides having only a handfull of really weak seats.

I last did my research in December, things have changed since then.

The fund raising figures for 2007 have since been released. In the Congress the Dems have 15 times as much cash on hand as the GOP. In the Senate 2 1/2 times as much. In the aggregate, that makes a Democratic advantage of 5 to 1...OUCH!!

Then comes the primary season. In SC Obama garnered more votes than the top two GOP candidates combined. In Florida, Hillary Clinton garnered 100k more votes than the GOP winner without even campaigning. Then as icing on the cake the GOP seems poised to offer a nominee that many in its' base openly despise.

This campaign season has lived up to its' promise of being the most dynamic in a generation so nothing is written in stone, but the writing on the wall is not good for the GOP.

Anti McCain
I may go to hell for this....

I'm a gun totin' life lovin' constitution readin' northwest redneck all the way . . . but

I'll vote for either Hilliary or Bazooka Joe before I'll ever pull a lever for John Freakin' McKennedy.

The line about the devil I know. McCain has proven over and over HE'LL SELL US OUT! I don't trust him any more than Chappaquidick Kennedy--and the (R) behind John's name is in my book a darned flimsy diguise. He's the devil I don't know--because I don't know what the heck he will do.

We know he sold the 1st amendment down the river. As I remember he's been no loyalist to the second.

I hate everything Hilliary and Bazook stand for--but I'll vote for them, because I'm sick of seeing the Republican party self destruct. A vote for the Dems is two votes against McCain--the one I don't give him, and the one I give to the enemy of all I hold dear. God help me.

I watched tonight's debate...
And it's official. McCain is a slimeball. Wow, he is all jerk and no substance. That whole thing about timetables was so cheap and wrong! He was wrong, everyone called him on it, and he continued to harp on it. It was, well, Clintonian. He was smarmy and evasive. No wonder the libs like him.

I have genuinely tried to try to understand his appeal, besides the fact that the establishment is endorsing him because "it is his turn". But he is simply out of his element. He is appropriate for a cabinet position, maybe (like Sec of Defense) but that's about it. His stance on the war, terrorism, and the surge are the only things that (temporarily) redeem him when I hear him speak. On everything else he makes my stomach burn and blood pressure rise.

I understand those of you who are upset with Repubs who are saying they will either stay home or write in a candidate if McCain becomes the nominee, but I'm telling you, I just can't vote for him. To me he is just as nauseating a choice as Clinton or Obama. I'm really not happy about that. He is just too big a pill to swallow. In comparison, OBAMA sounds promising =( And that's BAD

Romney was great tonight. His only fault is that he is too classy to outright call McCain what he (McCain) really is: a liar and a lightweight. Both Romney and Huckabee had it right about the governors having a distinct edge on experience and leadership.

All I can say is, Go Mitt!!!!!!!!!! I've already voted for you in CA!

Virginia Patriot
Don't worry, I'm not saying I'm not going to vote at all, I'm just not going to vote McCain. =)

Go Mitt!!!! He'll make a great president!

apoplectic
I'm sorry you're wife didn't like Mitt. Does she perk up at McCain?!

Obama inspires McCain retires! - SCOTUS
History repeating:

Ike - WAR hero, deal making politician that sold his political soul to win the Presidency. What did he sell, a supreme court position to the most liberal disgusting judge ever. EARL Warren!

John McCain War her, deal making politician that has SOLD HIS POLITICAL SOUL. Who has he already promised a SCOTUS appointment to? Joe Liberman, Russ Feingold? Some say we have to vote for him because of Judges - Remember Gang of 14.

I will take Obama over McBillary anyday. (Devil I know.)

What McCain *DIDN't* learn in the Navy..

Very good. and the last line passage worth repeating if I might.

"I've got kids and grandkids, and I'm mightily pissed off that they're going to have to suffer the consequences of the stupidity displayed today by you and your ilk."

McCain's VP search
On to VP Search for McCain
With McCain's victory in Florida--his eventual victory is all but assured. His path to the nomination should be clear by next Tuesday night. It is prudent to start looking for a VP candidate to fill out the ticket so we can maximize our competitiveness in November. These are some initial people to think about:

Women: Representatives Marsha Blackburn (TN), Marilyn Musgrave (CO), Theresa Drake (VA), Jo-Ann Emerson (MO) Kay Granger (TX); Senators Kay Bailey Hutchinson (TX) Lisa Murkowski (AK); Secretary Condi Rice

Men: Senators Tom Coburn (OK) John Thune (SD); Governors Hailey Barbour (MS), Marc Sanford (SC), Charlie Crist (FL); Former Senator Fred Thompson (TN)

Obama inspires McCain retires!
VP search for McCain: He's already sold that one. Won't matter though. Without a base, the squishy middle folks will be swept with Obama fever and fervor. You should have seen him in PHX. He'll even beat the old man there. GRAMPS ain't got a chance. How is he more experienced than Obama. Senate expereince - same. O.K. fighter squadron commander, he wins, but on intelligence McCain loses BIG. Try and go negative and use the race card is McCain's only ploy against him - we've seen what that has done to the great Bill Clinton.

McCain nomination = Bye Bye SCOTUS for 20 years and executive branch for 4 or even 8 with Obama.

Cool yer jets prentman
McCain won't need to pick a VP candidate because HE'S NOT going to be our nominee.
Get used to it, he's won in two states full of liberal Republicans. When he gets to states where the voters are mostly Conservative he's toast.

But if you like you can attend the inauguration of President Romeny next January.

Morris is a hack
For hacks like Morris winning is everything, principles mean nothing. But this time not even the hope of winning will be enough. I, as well as millions of my fellow citizens, will not vote for Flipper Mitt nor John McPain. Both are a joke and should not even be considered Republicans. We had a true conservative candidate in this race that 90+% of us could have supported and voted for. For the next 4 years my bumper sticker will read: "Don't blame me I voted for Fred" which I will do in a few days. Get ready to say, "President Clinton" once again. Republicans are a sorry lot to call either one of the remaining candidates their nominee. Looks like the only choice the American people will have is a liberal with a D behind their name or a liberal with an R behind it. Really, what's the difference?

Don't fall for the "conventional" wisdom
Dick Morris makes alot of predictions. He's almost always wrong. He always has some one dimensional reason for his prediction i.e. (Romney will lose hispanics because of the border issue). Consider the following advantages that Romney would have over McCain in a general election:
1. Romney is not a U.S. Senator (last one elected-JFK).

2. McCain is an old 71 years, Romney has alot more vitality.

3. McCain has a few personal moral failings in his past, the MSM loves McCain but they love Hillary &/or Obama more, his issues will come out in the general election. Romney doesn't have this problem.

4. Romney is a better debater overall. He can debate both domestic and foreign policy, McCain is very weak debating domestic issues. Anybody who cares about foreign policy is going to see what a complete joke Obama & Hillary are whether it's Romney or McCain in the debate.

5.If McCain gets the nomination the base will be less than enthused. Independants don't contribute to campaigns and moderates are not reliable. The base would be much more motivated with Romney as the nominee and more likely to donate in masse.(side note: the RNC use to have the edge on fundraising until a law known as McCain/Feingold was passed six years ago)

6. If McCain gets the nod a significant number of the base will stay home which would negate the advantage he has with independants. What's worse is the advantage this would also give the Democrats on congressional races.

Please consider these points before falling for the so called "conventional" wisdom that McCain has a better chance than Romney in the general election.

Take the High Road
"You couldn't be more wrong, Wobbie is NOT popular, he's just so freaking ignorant that you can't ignore replying to the colossally stupid things he says, just to laugh at his ignorance if nothing else."

Don't feed the troll. He'll go away if he can't get a rise out of you. And seriously, was anything Robert ever said actually worth responding to? All he does is repost crap for Daily Kos and other such sites and call them his own. Let him rant. Let him rave. Anyone who can make Lilly look responsible by comparison isn't worth the time.

Taking back Washington
Taking back Washington
During his speech from Florida, Mitt Romney said:

"I THINK IT'S TIME FOR THE POLITICIANS TO LEAVE WASHINGTON AND FOR THE CITIZENS TO TAKE OVER!"

As I see it, the only real hope for America and Americans is Mitt Romney. Romney is the only candidate with the personal resources, proven expertise, and THE WILL to stand up to the insider lawyer/politicians and fix Washington.

Romney's for beefing up the military, research and development to maintain American technological superiority, lower taxes, less government, fixing the economy, jobs for Americans, constitutional justices and judges who do not legislate, winning the war against terrorists and keeping us safe, sealing our borders and stopping illegal immigration, the right of citizens to have and bear arms, religious freedom, traditional marriage, and the family values cherished by god-fearing Americans.

And with his MBA and doctorate from Harvard, his long record of selfless service (one dollar salary to fix the Olympics, no salary as governor) and huge success in business and finance, he's uniquely prepared to vigorously pursue all of the above.

I encourage every freedom-loving family oriented person in America to vigorously start and build an inexorable viral/exponential GRASSROOTS SWELL for the people.

Vote Mitt Romney for President, and tell others if they'll get out and make an informed vote there's a real choice and HOPE FOR AMERICA this season...

That's how I see it. The only thing that power hungry godless self-styled "elitists" fear is the people relentlessly united in a cause to BRING REAL CHANGE TO WASHINGTON.

It's time for the politicians to leave Washington and for the citizens to take over. Mitt Romney is prepared, capable, and willing to spend millions of his own money to work with us to take back Washington. Working together, I know we can do it.

the dirty big secret ...
Here is the dirty big secret that Dick Morris, the Democrats and liberal media do not want McCain and Huckabee supporters to understand until after the Republican primary is over:

1. a vote for Huckabee at this point in the race is a vote for McCain. Huckabee cannot win the primary and is almost out of money.

2. a vote for McCain in the Primary is a vote for Obama or Clinton in the general election. McCain cannot win the primary and McCain knows that, without the base of the Republican party, he like Dole before him will loose. The base will never support liberal McCain.

Anyone voting on super Tuesday and beyond who is considering McCain or Huckabee needs to think long and hard about the impact of their vote. If you prefer President Obama or Clinton over Romney, then vote for McCain or Huckabee my friends.

THESE ARE THE FACTS THAT THE MEDIA IS SEEKING TO HIDE FROM THE REPUBLICAN BASE. NOW IS THE TIME TO MAKE SURE THAT ALL UNDERSTAND THESE 2 SIMPLE FACTS IN DECIDING HOW TO VOTE.

CONSERVATIVES FOR MITT
MITT SUPPORTERS, GO TO MITT'S WEBSITE AND CONTRIBUTE TO HIS CAMPAIGN TO STOP THE MCCAIN TRAIN WRECK EXPRESS.

ITS NOT TOO LATE TO GIVE MITT SOME MOMENTUM GOING INTO SUPER TUESDAY AND TAKING THIS THING ALL THE WAY TO THE CONVENTION, AND THEN ALL THE WAY TO THE WHITEHOUSE. ROMNEY IS THE LAST AND BEST HOPE OF THE REMAINING REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES TO PRESERVE CONSERVATIVE PRINCIPLES AND MAINTAIN THE REAGAN COALITION INTACT.

FLOOD MITT'S SITE AT http://www.mittromney.com/homepage AND GIVE TO HIS CAMPAIGN, EVEN IF IT ISN'T A LOT. EVERY CONTRIBUTION HELPS.

More Morris Triagulation & Drama..
It isn't over yet, by any means, and I'm voting for Mitt..

Go Romney..

losing with honor
I would rather lose with honor than win without it. The party of Lincoln and Reagan has lost it's way. I will become an Independent. Romney is our only hope to salvage the party but the RINOS and MSM and ill informed Huckabee voters are going to give it to McCain, who will destroy the party. That has been his goal for years. Remember, he wanted to bolt from the GOP in 2001 to give control of the senate to the Dems, and then wanted to be Kerrys running mate. The question no one has asked is this; If McCain doesn't get the nomnation, does he stay a Republican?

No, I will not hold my nose and vote ever again. I and millions of others have voted Republican only to be spat upon by the very people we elect. Enough is enough. No more money, no more time, no more votes.

Reagan made me a Republican, McCain will make me an Independent. The GOP does not own my soul.

It's Not Over
If McCain gets the GOP nomination, it's over. But it's not over until it's over. There are two more days to get the word out about McCain's open borders, special interests, hot temper, dark past, and liberal agendas.

There are two more days to let everyone know that Huckabee is supporting McCain and a vote for Huckabee is a vote for McCain.

Conservatives don't want a nominee who pokes them in the eyes. People of faith don't want a nominee who makes fun of them.

Now is the time to support someone who is smart, someone who knows how to trim government spending, someone who fights hard for life and families, and someone who won't stab our military in the back with tantrums in the back rooms of the Senate.

If you don't want McCain, campaign for Romney before it's too late.

So when
McCain wins and the republican party wins? The American people wind up with what? Someone to the left of Bush? Another open border advocate that refuses to listen to 70% of the population? The one supporting corporate greed, poor economic policy, more taxation on the rich (your family is rich if you make over $60k a year).
Lets all listen to Dick Morris because Hillary had him fired and he just wants to get even the hell with the rest of us.

Changed my mind
I wont stay home on election day. Think Ill just vote for Mitt regardless. If he's not the candidate then ill write it in but I'd rather be shot than vote for McShame.

Poll driven IDIOTS
You poll driven idiot voters who are considering mccain bacause some friggen poll put out 10 months before the general whose results are from what statistically have been shown to be stupid, emoitional people who don't have jobs or a real life and are the on same 'go-to' list of available respondants time and again...well, you poll driven idiots make me want to barf. YOU are what is wrong with our political process and YOU are the demise of this great america.

I wish I was king becasue I would banish all of you to some cold, desolate place, call it Stupidstan and build a wall around it. Exit visas would require an IQ test and for the men, a nut check to see if you have any balls.

Robert, you say goodbye and I say hello
Hello Robert,

Before you so quickly write off me and so many others, you should know who you are talking to. I worked on Reagans campaign. I have given time and money to the GOP for over thirty years. I have made phone calls and driven people to vote. John McCain considered leaving the GOP in 2001 to give control of the senate to the Dems. Chafe beat him to it and his price was too high. In 2004, McCain actively sought to be Kerrys running mate. So the question as to whether he would remain a Republican if he lost the nomination is not far fetched. Many in Washington circles believe that he would run on a third party ticket.

The plain and simple truth is that Mccain has been a traitor to the GOP and conservatives for a long time. Asking us to be loyal to him is like asking Gearge Washington to forgive Benedict Arnold. It ain't gonna happen.

So, my friend, good bye and good luck. You are gonna need it.

Mitt Romney endorsed by Warren Jeffs
Mitt Romney got 90% of the vote in Utah, including a full sweep of the Jeff's clan.

A Mormon in the Outhouse
1. The big lying phony has come to an end.

2. Donating to a Mormon presidential candidate is a waste of money.

3. Volunteering for a Mormon presidential candidate is a waste of time.

4. Time to flush Mitt Wrong-ney down the toilet.

5. We Republican Christians will NEVER put a Mormon in the White House.

MCLib
I'm really getting sick of all these Republican yes-men telling me to abandon my conservative principles and just vote for whomever has an R next to his name. It's like nevermind the future of the country as long as we beat the democrats next November. It's revolting.
