Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

Congratulations, American taxpayer. Finally, something has roused you from the stupor, the torpor, the catatonia of lingering Obamania.

It was those bonuses. Those AIG bonuses of $165 million. Because that's your money, your millions of dollars paid out to the same incompetents who got us into this mess, right? Sure. But you're on the case now. You're on top of it. Gave your representatives in Washington a piece of your mind, too. Nobody fools the American taxpayer like that and gets away with it, right?

Sigh. Dear American Taxpayer: If only you knew how easily you have been gulled, played like a greenhorn, a rube, a Madoff mark. This $165 million scandal may have unleashed the first genuine feeding frenzy of the Obama administration, but it is a distraction, a sideshow, a smokescreen over what is really going on: namely, the Bush-initiated, Obama-Pelosi-Reid-led incursion into the private sector designed to nationalize the workings of the economy in order to take over, capture and enslave enough of the free market to transform the fundamental character of this nation. Remember what our 44th president said back in 1995: "In America," he told the Chicago Reader, "we have this strong bias toward individual action. You know, we idolize the John Wayne hero who comes in to correct things with both guns blazing. But individual actions, individual dreams are not sufficient. We must unite in collective action, build collective institutions and organizations."

That is exactly what's going on behind the $165 million smokescreen -- truly, a masterpiece of misdirection. I have no reason to believe it was planned, although I am open to suggestion. After all, it is notable that the nearly $4 billion in Merill Lynch bonuses, doled out just before the dying firm's Jan. 1 takeover by Bank of America (which received bailout funds partly due to the takeover), failed to churn the same national waters.

But I digress. Up in arms about the AIG bonuses, the body politic remains calm, cool, practically collected about the trillions of taxpayer dollars Obama & Co. are drawing on to buy out the economy, expanding the population's dependency on Biggest Government in the process. There are simply too few of us seeing red, for example, over the surprise Federal Reserve decision (announced this week at the height of Bonus Rage) to pump another $1 trillion into the economy, money the International Herald Tribune said the Fed "will create out of thin air."

Still, there is good in Bonus Rage. It's a sign of life. As the president said this week, "I don't want to quell anger. People are right to be angry. I'm angry. What I want us to do is channel our anger in a constructive way." My sentiments exactly (this must be a first), although I'm sure we differ when it comes to what constitutes a "constructive way."

For starters, Bonus Rage should finally drive Democratic Sen. Christopher Dodd from office when he runs for re-election in 2010 -- unless he peels off the blindfold and sees the error of his ways sometime sooner. Dodd, after all, is the largest recipient of AIG largesse, "most of it," as John Batchelor reports, "from a dozen AIG executives whose bonuses are protected under the legislation Dodd now admits he wrote."

Ouch. For several days this week, the influential Senate Banking chairman -- he who never met a sweetheart deal he didn't find irresistible -- lied about his role in writing legislation that protects AIG's bonuses. Repeatedly, Dodd insisted that he had had nothing to do with the bonus-protection language in the, ahem, Dodd Amendment until, mirabile dictu, he remembered that he had. As he finally told CNN on Wednesday evening, he actually wrote the provision himself with, he added, input from the administration. Did I mention President Obama was the No. 2 recipient of AIG largesse? Dodd received $103,100. Obama received $101,332. Now Dodd, after being scorched by these disclosures, says he'll give his AIG money back. Will Obama? Does it matter? The proof is already in the pudding, even if the burnt offerings go back to the kitchen.

Fume, baby, fume. But there's more. The nationalization of AIG is not just bankrupting the country by throwing billions of our dollars at AIG's toxic assets. The nationalization of AIG is forcing the American taxpayer to support a very different kind of toxic asset. I refer to AIG's promotion of Sharia (Islamic law) in its Takaful division, the Sharia-compliant insurance sector of AIG. Since we the people own 80 percent of AIG, we the people now promote Sharia, too.

Don't believe me? Takaful insurance, our very own AIG Takaful Web site explains, "avoids prohibited elements in accordance with the Sharia law," adding: "We do not invest in anything that is haram (prohibited under Sharia). We do not borrow, lend or enter into any financial transaction that is unIslamic."

At the very least -- aside from promoting from the law of the Koran, Osama bin Laden, the Taliban, the mullahs of Iran, the clerics of Saudi Arabia (not to mention Afghanistan, whose Sharia-supreme "justice" system recently upheld a journalist's 20-year prison sentence for "blasphemy") -- taxpayer support for AIG is by definition sectarian and therefore in violation of the Establishment Clause of the Constitution.

It is on these grounds -- that the American taxpayer is now directly funding sectarian Islamic religious activities -- that a lawsuit, conducted by the Thomas More Law Center, has been filed against the government. Recently, the Justice Department, another U.S. taxpayer-funded entity last time I checked, entered the case to defend the AIG bailout, filing a motion to dismiss, the Thomas More Law Center notes, based on this being a time of "crisis."

You better believe this is a time of crisis -- but not the crisis envisioned by Justice officials charged with safeguarding gross government fecklessness. Only two of our elected officials -- Reps. Sue Myrick, R-N.C., and Frank Wolf, R-Va., and bless them for it -- have publicly decried the government's AIG Sharia-bailout; that's a crisis. Chump change bonuses arouse the wrath of the nation -- not the nefarious movement to nationalize the marketplace; that's a crisis, too. The American people are angry, good. But we need to understand there are far more important things to be angry about.

AIG gave over $500,000 to various candidates in 2008.

Topping the list:

1. (Then) Senator Obama - $104,000 (West's article states $101,000. PMSNBC states $104,000.)

2. Sen. Dodd - $103,000

Care to guess which state has an AIG office where the lion's share of bonuses were paid? Connecticut (Dodd's state)

Care to guess which Senator put the wording into the bill to allow the bonuses? (Dodd - claiming "I didn't do it, oh, wait, I did it without knowing I did it, oh, wait, one of my secretaries did it, oh, wait, ...)

By the way, Dodd is a member of the party that came into power to clean out all the corruption in D.C.

It's all Bush's fault!

Some Americans are able to wake up from
the Obama poppy field (and they want to find out what's happening to their country) Their off to see the Wizard of Dodd. Read it at, http://stopthepresses2.blogspot.com/search/label/Christoph er%20Dodd

Something New
Every single day, I read about one more nail in the Obama administration's coffin. It's incredible. One thing after another. Have we ever had a presidency start with so much controversy? Why is the MSM still silent?

I admit it: I'm flabbergasted.

The Miranda Administration
Barack Obama and his Socialist/Marxist minions are using a Miranda approach to government. Specifically, their political ambitions for remaking America can and will be used against us. I'm just so [{#$*^%(ing) happy.

Islamofascists Are Here
The Islamofascists are closer than Obama and his flunkies are telling the American people. They're in the Western Hemisphere -- secretly in the US, openly in South America.

Read this about the Iranians and Hezbollah in South America:

Prison
Those recipients of this tainted money from AIG should be behind bars. I'm speaking of the biggest takers, not the $1000.00-$500.00 bunch.

Thank you, Diana West!
Diana is such a voice of reason in a crazy world.

Now, what I want to know is, if in fact those AIG bonuses are taxed at 90%, will the campaign contributions made to Dodd, Obama, et at, also be taxed at the same rate? Probably not, but they should be. I for one am more irate about the contributions than the bonuses.

Why all the fuss
about bonuses at AIG? Look at how many billions, yes billions, of dollars are lost and missing in Iraq, thanks to the Bush/Cheney Administration mismanagement:

“Billions of dollars were wasted in the Iraqi reconstruction enterprise,” said Stuart Bowen, the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction.

But now, as attention - and more tax dollars - are turned to Afghanistan, Bowen warns the U.S. effort there is headed the same way, reports CBS News chief foreign affairs correspondent Lara Logan.

“Thirty-two billion dollars later, we don't know a whole lot about what's happened to that money,” Bowen said.

It's so critical that the Bowen was called in by the Obama administration, within a week of the inauguration."

From CBS News.

Ms. West
You are a poor excuse for a Journalist. This simple fact is reaffirmed by every article you write. Your present article exposes you to every thinking person. You mention Senator Dodd and President Obama. But there is no mention of the $56,000.00 received by Senator McCain. Did he give it back? Your manipulation of the facts, is safe on TH,for they don't want the truth. Just like you they appear to be allergic to the "Truth". Keep on "LYING" and misleading your readers, they deserve it!

Killer in GA
Yes, you moron, that jerk McCain should be included. If we'd had a decent candidate instead of that old RINO, we wouldn't have that jug-eared clown as occupant of our White House, who is doing just what he said he'd do, destroy our country.

Killer, you are wrong
Diana West is an exquisite example of writers who print the truth, regardless of how unpopular it is.

Manipulation of the facts? Wny should McCain give back campaign money if his opponants didn't? He is not in the position now (as President Obama is) to give out favors to reward those contributions.

You have a problem with "lying"? Then keep a closer eye on your president.

What a surprise
West is outraged and it somehow turns out to be muslim's fault. Who saw that coming.

As it happens, most of AIG's divisions are profitable. The financial services division has run up so much debt that it has swamped the profitable divisions, but it is silly to think we are propping up the profitable parts that could be sold off to other companies. If the Takaful division is like most, it is actually decreasing out costs, albeit not enough.

Thank God for people like Diana
West. Diana I salute you for you dedication in bringing the truth about the Islamic threat.

Stealfromus Bill Doing It's Job--On Us

Holbrooke, Geithner, Holder, Napolitano, Raines, Dodd, Schumer, Pelosi, Frank, Rangel, Reid, Maxine Waters, the MSM apologists and Obama press corps, and last and least Barack Hussein "I will stand with the Muslims" Obama, the list goes on...

AIG largest campaign contribution recipients: Dodd and Obama. [AIG execs receive "retention" bonuses of taxpayer money under Obama "Stealfromus" bill]

Fannie and Freddie largest campaign contribution recipients: Dodd, Kerry, & Obama [Fannie & Freddie execs due to receive "retention" bonuses of taxpayer money under Obama "Stealfromus" bill]

Geithner gets promoted to Treasury by Obama.

Holbrooke leaves AIG and gets put on the government dole and promoted by Obama.

Dodd makes changes to the Stealfromus bill to protect bonus pay offs to AIG execs for himself and Obama...

Oh, I forgot...

It's Bush's and the Republicans who are behind all this Wall Street greed and corruption!

The only defense the useful idiots who support this Chicago gangster's election, is to point the finger at Bush, McCain, Rush Limbaugh, Joe the plumber...anybody else but this criminal president.

Protection by Deflection.

Right, libtards?

"How Bad Is It Really?"

The bonuses are disgusting, but there was a Keystone Kops element to the White House reaction. Its yes-we-can, no-we-can't act on canceling the payoffs was clumsy, especially when the President said he wanted the bonuses stopped. It made for good sound bites before an aide called the whole thing off, saying it was too late, legal contracts, yada, yada.

On most days, such White House fumbling would be big news, but the real outrage is that the bonuses represent a fraction of the taxpayer money consumed by AIG. Yet nobody, including Obama or the Bush administration, which started the bailout, is even talking about how to end the gravy train or what the final cost could be.

Nearly $180 billion is already gone, and there will be huge additional losses because AIG still holds a portfolio said to contain $1.6 trillion worth of lethal credit default swaps. Against that, the bonus money is chump change.

Curiously, you haven't heard much about the spent $180 billion or whether there was a better way. Maybe the pols don't have a clue.

Or maybe they figure it's safer to focus on the bonus angle because "bonus" is such a red meat word. Put a name and face on the people with the gall to demand such dough and the pols can ride the public anger like a surfer rides a wave.

But there's a third option, and that's where my money is. I bet you haven't heard much about the real cost of settling AIG's instruments of wealth destruction because Washington doesn't want you to know how bad it really is.

http://www.nydailynews.com/opinions/2009/03/18/2009-03-18_a ig_bailout_is_going_from_bad_to_worse.html

STOP THE BAILOUTS AND THE PRINTING PRESSES NOW!

Stop The Insanity!

The Fed. Res. and the fed. govt. have tripled the amount of money in circulation in the last 6 months. Then, we have Scamulus, the mortgage bailout, the omnibus bill, and god help us, Mugabe's freakin =$4.6 budget.

Yesterday, the Fed announced:

1) It would buy $300bn worth of treasury bonds so as to lower mortgage rates, which hasn't been done since the inflationary period of the 1960s.

2) Another $750bn to buy toxic assets, which is on top of the $500bn already spent.

3) Up to another $1T for bank stabilization.

$2T for universal healthcare.

$2T for the stupid and useless cap-n-tax.

We have a national debt over $12bn.

Unfunded obligations for social security that are between $56T and $75T.

This in unsustainable.

"Inflation, Extravagance, Bankruptcy."

John Maynard Keynes campaigned for budgetary flexibility and abandonment of the gold standard for at least a decade before publishing his General Theory in 1936. And he was a genius of rhetoric as well as of economics. He could explain his ideas with equal brilliance in the abstractions of Treasury mandarins or the straightforward language of common people: "Housewives of England, for every shilling you save, you put a man out of work for a day."

But Keynes's arguments were ignored by democratic governments the world over. Gordon Brown describes a document in the Treasury archives in which Keynes's proposals for saving Britain from depression were dismissed by the Permanent Secretary with three scribbled words: "Inflation, Extravagance, Bankruptcy."

Most people in the 1930s agreed with the Treasury that Keynes was irresponsible and deluded. And that is what many believe today -that a debt crisis cannot be cured by borrowing; that saving is virtuous while spending is wasteful; that printing money creates inflation and that the best response to recession is to fire government bureaucrats.

If these beliefs become conventional wisdom among voters, then coping with the economic crisis will become as difficult as it was in the 1930s - at least for democracies. And here we come to the real horror.

In the 1930s only one country put expansionary policies fully into practice. Hitler's Germany.

Unchartered Territory - I

All that is going on is a distraction to the main and, without being pollyannaish, the most dire situation that we have seen in decades, if not in our history. As I indicated below, the Fed is printing money at an alarming rate. Understand, NEVER in the history of monetary policy has a government been able to effectively time inflationary tools to counteract deflation. NEVER. We are either looking at the most devastating recession that we have ever seen in this country or another depression AND this is only if we quit spending. If the Fed continues to print money and the government continues to spend it, not only will we have inflation and a depression, but the dollar will collapse. Most people do not believe that there can be a depression and inflation at the same time. This is simply not the case. Any cursory review of the Weimar Government or modern day Zimbabwe proves that inflation can occur in a depression.

According to sources from within the Congressional Budget Office, Obama is going to receive devastating news tomorrow on both the economy and his proposed budget. The new projections put his budget AT MORE THAN FOUR TRILLION DOLLARS!

Unchartered Territory - II

China previously expressed concern over their investments and, in a way, were rewarded yesterday by the Fed's actions because they made $700bn in one day. Today, Russia has voiced grave concern about the stability of our dollar.

At the rate we are going, the poor will NEVER see parity with the "middle class", who will likewise lose their buying power. The next shoe to drop is going to be the collapse of state pension funds, which will wipe out the retirement savings of millions.

Any collapse of or significant instability in the dollar will make it nearly impossible to borrow overseas. Should this occur, Obama can say goobye to his dreams of universal healthcare, cap-n-tax, and likely card check, which will result in a replay of the effects of the 1936 Wagner Act and other workplace rules that led to the 1937 recession within the Great Depression.

Folks, this is not a partisan issue. We are beyond name calling. Our future is at stake. Please call or write your representatives and tell them to quit spending. Unfortunately, we can't dictate to the Fed. so spending cessation is our only hope.

The AIG Tax Is Unconstitutional

1) They were valid and binding contracts executed and entered by and between AIG and the exexutives, individually. The compensation packages were disclosed publicly over a year ago through AIG's SEC filings and in the company's Annual Report.

2) The Constitution specifically prohibits ex poste facto legislation (retroactive) for punitive purposes and, secondly, it prohibits a Bill of Attainder (targeting an individual or group for specific and punitive punishment or taxation).

3) Lastly, since the retention bonuses were actually inducements to certain individuals to remain with AIG so as to resolve toxic derivative contracts, which they were able to knock off over $1T in bad contracts, any express action to seize these assets may violate the Takings Clause.

Maybe such a blatantly
UNConstitutional act by Congress such as this will FINALLY wake up some of the people that are ignoring what's going on to the danger that Congress is posing to our freedoms.

Yes, we should be angry
The American people have repeatedly been "raped" by our so-called representatives. It is time to change their "ethics" laws, to change lobbbying and donation rules, to remove their authority to give themselves raises and cars and office expenses and jets!

We have met the enemy and he is CONGRESS!!!!

THE DEATH OF THE UTOPIAN DREAM
The age of socialism is over. With the collapse of the Soviet Union we live in a post-socialist world. But not for the regressives of the progressive Left as they are trapped in the past seriously lagging behind reality and holding our nation back from its destiny. But this is going to change and the cultural stalemate will end as the Left is about to suffer a rude awakening. Obama is going to crash and burn and give them a bruising experience. An experience which will put an end to their folly, drive them out of the Democratic Party and spell the death of the utopian dream.

Obama gave us the answer!
"build collective institutions and organizations"

Join the Taxpayer Tea Party movement! Get out in the streets and stand up and shout!

There is a heck of a lot more to be angry about than some Islamic brand insurance. A quick scan of the Drudge Report headlines should boil the blood on any American -- and that's just today's version.

The message is clear, our government is not listening to us so it time that they see our faces!

Taxpayer Tea Party April 15th in a city near you.

Thank You Miss West
You are still a voice that seeks and finds the truth. You give me hope that the Fourth Estate is not dead...,just in a self induced coma.

I am reading "Rules for Radicals" by Saul Alinsky. If anyone out there wants to know about Barry Dunham's plans for this nation get a copy. It's chilling!

SueDi paraphrases POGO in her 1:05a.m. post.I maintain the original quote is more apt,"We have met the enemy and HE is US".

EVERYONE needs to attend a Tea Party. If you cannot find one, just send your congressmen in D.C.a tea bag. While you're at it, send one to The Mad Hatter(Reid) and "The Queen of Hearts"(Pelosi) too!

Still
Yes it's bad that we are somehow enabling this enactment of sharia law, but the issue is still the continuing blatant defiant contempt for the Constitution. One could almost argue that up to this point many of the previous, ongoing violations could somehow be enacted under "general welfare" or "commerce". That would not be true, as anyone who honestly reads the Constitution and knows but a smidgen of history knows that these "clauses" do not mean what so many claim. Anway, as I said at least one could somehow, with distorted reasoning and sophistry, make a case for legitimacy for Congress's actions, but coupled with the DC voting rights bills and with this bill of attainder, ex post facto bill there can no longer in any way be made an argument that these corrupt, power hungry criminals intend to abide by the limits constained upon them by the Constitution. These acts are overtly in violation of not just one portion of the Constitution, but several, and Yes, they are criminals, they are stealing our money and seizing property and businesses outside of the law and using their offices to give these actions the guise of legitimacy. They need to be not just thrown out of office, but thrown in prison to never see the light of day.

Sharia infiltration
Diana, continue your expose' of the insidious ways which Islam is polluting our society. So few are able to see the danger of the deceit which is propagated by the messages that Islam is a "religion of peace". It is dedicated to absolute domination. And it is being slowly injected into our national fabric. People must be awakened to the fact that this is more than a constitutional issue. It is a war between "good" and "evil" - an issue of moral truth more than political power or economic conditions. Don't give up!!!

Charlie_S-Denise
New England Liberals are PARTICULARLY vile and corrupt. The Kennedys, Dodd, Chaffee and others of their ilk treat elected office as a family business/birthright. BTW, PA, DE and MD should be included in New England as they practice the same sort of Nepotism.

Soul of America
West is right- and another poster said it- this is a fight for the soul of America and here's action you can take.
Consider there is truth in what thousands are saying- Obama is NOT ELIGIBLE to be POTUS and he has to go before he completely wrecks the country.
Read up on it and tell your friends and neighbors to consider the good articles at federalistblog.us, defining "natural born citizen" (required by the Constitution) Also, there's a great legal summary at http://paralegalnm.wordpress.com/2009/02/27/barack-hussein -obama-a-natural-born-subject-of-great-britain/
His websites admit he was born a British citizen through his Kenyan father.
Note the dozens of lawsuits insisting that he show proof of his eligiblity, which he refuses to do, spending a million dollars on lawyers, who say that release of his birth certificate would cause severe and lasting damage to him. (theobamafile.com) You bet it would!
Dr. Taitz, a lawyer handling some of the legal action, posts at defendourfreedoms.us
You have a way to rid us of this vermin- support the demands that he prove he is eligible.

Obama-evil genius or idiot?
Where is the MSM????
Now tell me Obama didn't know of the connection between AIG and sharia law..
Of course he knew...
Obama is like the serpent in the garden..When caught red handed he feigns innocense by peofessing ignorance or remaining quiet..
When backed into a corner he tries to shift the blame by accusing others of what he is guilty....
Can anyone tell me one good thing Obama has done in his first 2 months???
Is cutting off veterans medical care or prohibiting pilots from carrying firearms good???
Is excessive and unnecessary spending good??
Is abolishing the word terrorists or enemy compatants good??
Is freeing the gitmo killers good while accusing the milatary of torture...Which is as usual blaming others to shield the guilty..
Is the voluntary DRAFT of our kids good???
Obama looks more like the savior of muslims every day..
IMPEACHMENT is a beautiful word in the English language.

Georgetwin 10:39a.m.
AMEN! Are you sending Mikulski and Cardin a teabag?

I have a question. Should N.J. be included in your list? I'm from N.J. and did not think the politicians could get any worse till I moved to Md..

Fictive Reality
This move to Sharia is based ib what I call Fictive Reality, defined here as when a system of non-facts become so broadly accepted as factually established that it takes on the same weight as reality itself.

We've built & conform to Fictive Realities around race, sex, political economy, and Islam, among many other areas of public discourse.

But here's a real reality: The penchant for lawyers in robes (aka Judges) to allow the overthrow of the US Consitution is perhaps the key enabler of all this. Been to our southern border lately? There you will see the Consitution laying in the dirt overturned & tattered. There you'll also see several laws being left unenforced by policy.

So bring on Sharia, why shouldn't our already well underway phased shift to Islamic rule be excluded from the party?

LC
ABSOLUTELY I am sending them! You did know that Cardin's son is a Baltimore County Politician? Bet the farm he gets the seat when daddy steps down. Do they pass Senate/House seats on like estates in NJ? It is easily documented in MA, CT and RI. BTW a few of us are working on a South PA/Central MD/DC area TH picnic. Are you interested?

Capitalism Under Attack
Ms West's columns are more and more to my liking. Thank you for shinning some light on this gargantuan mess! The islamic ties to AIG is troubling as I can envision all sorts of nefarious schemes being played out by the B. Hussein O. administration.

West says: "Repeatedly, Dodd insisted that he had had nothing to do with the bonus-protection language in the, ahem, Dodd Amendment until, mirabile dictu, he remembered that he had." The lying sack of manure needs to be run out of town on a rail.

What has failed in our country is not capitalism. It is our intentional undermining of it. When risk in the capitalistic model is arbitrarily tampered with by outside forces that don’t have the necessary deeper understanding of that risk then the model breaks down possibly to a catastrophic state if large scale tampering was perpetrated as with this current situation. That is why government intervention is a terrible idea. Government’s role should be limited to lean and smart regulatory oversight to ensure a level playing field but otherwise should butt out completely. Typical to liberal mindset this axiom of capitalism has been turned on its head. Catastrophe will follow, “no ifs or buts about it”!

Marty writes...
"Have we ever had a presidency start with so much controversy? Why is the MSM still silent? I admit it: I'm flabbergasted."

Marty: Were you born yesterday? The MSM has been in bed with Obama from the beginning. If they out him now, they will have to admit their own whorish behavior.

It won't happen.

LET'S DEAL WITH THE TRUTH
about Barack Hussein Obama.
1. In his youth he attended a Islamic school.
2. His father was Muslin
3. His mother was pro communist.
4. His mentor was Saul Alkinsy's son David Alinsky.
5. He stated in his book that he would stand with his Muslin's brothers.
6. He and Michelle Obama were friends with Khalini, who worked under Arafat's regime.
7. His first TV interview after becoming Pesident was with Al-Arabiya, apoligizing to the Muslin world because American defended themselves.
8. Sent 90 million to Palestine which will benefit Hamas.
9. Will close Gitmo and will bring the prisoners to the USA.
10. Dropped the term, War on Terror, dropped the term, enemy combatants.
11. Tells Iran, "we can all get along", after they supported the terrorist who killed our soldiers.
12. Has no desire to protect our border and curb illegal immigration, allows them to have medical care under a new bill.
13. He mentioned 57 states while campaigning, a slip perhaps, but with Muslim ideology.
14. He is pro Muslin now and has always been.
15. He is doing everything possible to bankrupt this country.

We need to protect our country from this President.

Note to Killer in GA
You call yourself a thinking person, and yet I see no evidence of this. Diana West was not trying to list every politician who got money from AIG, which, of course, includes John McCain and no doubt lots of others, too. She was just pointing out that Obama and Dodd, the two main actors in the current farce, were among the top -- if not the very top -- recipients of AIG's largesse. And after all, it was Dodd, not McCain, who added the language protecting the AIG bonuses. That she did not mention McCain in no way suggests she's "lying," as you and your kind like to say when faced with an opposing point of view. In any case, the absence of any mention of McCain in no way detracts from the veracity or substance of her column.

AIG & SHARIA
America keep up laughting while you can. Serious dark, sad days are coming unless we stop this mess we are in. Remember kennedy,s "ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country". Remember when America was the land of opportunity, the land of the free, and that included free enterprise, freedom of speech, freedom of religion, the right to bear arms, etc. Open your eyes and your ears, read, investigate, think and find out by yourselves how we got into this mess, who can save us from a complete disaster called Socialism or Communism or whatever but a complete reverse to oru freedom. our values and our way of life. We Americans can do it with the help of God not the government and specially not the politicians. They have demonstrated that tey only think of themselves, they are hypocrites that say one thing and do theother they talk the talk but don't walk the walk. They want us to sacrifice but they don't, they want us to be patriotic but they are not, their children can stillgo tothe private schools and universities of their choice but our chidren and grandchildren cannot. They live on the wide part of the horn of abundance and we live on the narrow part. They don't pay taxes but we are taxed to death. Let all get together and don't pay our taxes and see how are they going to pay for all the unnecessary expending and for all the pork and bonuses. Open your eyes, dude! It is obvious that you are a proponent of the Blame Game perspective - a view which totally disregards the very present reality that this country is facing.

Secondly: None of the economic stimulus propaganda from the Federal Government, nor the News Media, really deals with the very present reality that this country is facing. It's ALL simply bogus information designed to deceive the American Public (once again) into believing that Big Government is our Savior. Government wants to be our Nanny under the supposition that the American people cannot take care of themselves and that they need a MASTER. So which one of the readers really wants to be a
SLAVE?
