Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

As this year’s campaign moves toward the final stretch, the frenetic media-driven discussion about whether or not Sarah Palin is prepared for the presidency continues.  Apparently, few have noticed that she is not actually running for that office.  But how does she compare to others who have sought the nation’s number two job since World War II?

Once upon a time, the choice of a running mate was made in cloak-and-dagger secrecy - as little more than a political afterthought.  Those who ran, and even those who eventually served as vice presidents, became for all practical purposes historical footnotes.  Of course, the few who moved up to the highest office due to the death of a sitting president were notable exceptions.

Harry Truman was ill prepared to ascend to the presidency in April of 1945.  This had little to do with whether or not he was up to the job.  It was because his predecessor didn’t bother to give him the time of day.  His selection was matter-of-fact and his interaction with President Franklin D. Roosevelt was – well – there really wasn’t any.  Finding out about the secret Manhattan Project day or so into his presidency, Truman remarked: “I didn’t know.”  There were many things he, in fact, didn’t know – and this was not really his fault.  Fortunately for the nation, the man from Missouri was a quick study.

By 1952, a vice presidential candidacy was taken more seriously.  Richard Nixon in many ways created the modern vice presidency.  Though his relationship with President Dwight Eisenhower was not without its generational complications – including a measure of dysfunction – he was an energetic and effective team player who expanded the public’s perception of the vice presidency.

His conduct during Ike’s illnesses, and his global travel as the administration’s emissary, increased his stature, not to mention his political stock.  Nixon’s transition to the Republican presidential nomination after eight years of playing second fiddle was virtually inevitable, late-minute machinations by his intra-party nemesis, Nelson Rockefeller, notwithstanding.

The 1960 presidential race has been analyzed and debated probably more than any other election in the past one hundred years.  Even the protracted and polarized 2000 campaign fails to fascinate us as does what happened forty-eight years ago.  Three men – all who would eventually become president – occupied center stage that year: John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, and Richard M. Nixon.

Immortalized by the first book in Theodore White’s The Making of the President series, the race of ’60 has recently been revisited by historian-author David Pietrusza in his book, 1960: LBJ vs. JFK vs. Nixon.  A sequel of sorts, at least in the genre sense, to his earlier book, 1920: The Year of Six Presidents, this new work brings one of the great political narratives to life weaving together well-worn stories and some material that is not as well known.

Parallels are already being drawn between Barack Obama’s recent rejection of Hillary Rodham Clinton and John F. Kennedy’s cold-calculated selection of Lyndon Johnson in 1960.  If Obama eventually loses, this will no doubt be where blame will be placed.  The ultimate vice presidential nominee mistake, however, may actually have been made that very same year nearly five decades ago - but it was on the Republican side.

The biggest VP crash-and-burn candidate in recent memory was a man by the name of Henry Cabot Lodge Jr.  He was Nixon’s running mate as they battled the Kennedy-Johnson Democratic ticket in 1960.  Though conventional historical wisdom generally suggests that Kennedy beat Nixon because of Nixon’s first debate performance, or his failure to call Coretta Scott King, or vote-fraud shenanigans in Illinois, the real story may have much more to do with Mr. Lodge’s role.

Writing about the Lodge vice presidential candidacy, Mr. Pietrusza says:

“On the surface he seemed quite impressive – articulate, handsome, experienced, a true public servant from one of the nation’s most distinguished families.  But in the long history of vice-presidential nominees Lodge – though scoring extremely well in abstract popularity polls – ranked as among the more puzzling of selections.   He was unable to carry his home state, nearly powerless to affect any outcome in his region, a toxin to his party’s conservative base, and, ultimately, a drag upon the ticket in a region – the South – where real breakthroughs might be gained.

Mr. Lodge was described by chronicler Theodore White as, “like medicine – good for you, but hard to take.”

Why would Nixon - the consummate political strategist – choose someone who would go over like a lead-balloon?  Well, the answer seems to be in his desire to base his decision on the qualifications to actually serve as president, more than political considerations such as campaign skills or the ability to help the ticket geographically and demographically.

Mr. Nixon also sensed that the crucial issue of the campaign was foreign policy – possibly a reflection of his own interest-bias.  To try to go “toe to toe” with the Democrats on domestic issues would, he thought, give the natural advantage to his opponents.  Lodge had, in fact, been a very effective U.N. Ambassador during the 1950s and had some good press recently.  After the U-2 spy plane fiasco in May of 1960, he helped the U.S. regain the Cold War public relations initiative by highlighting the fact that the Soviets had been eavesdropping on our embassy in Moscow.  A device was hidden inside a gift that had been given to our ambassador back in 1945 – a great seal of the United States carved in wood.  Gotcha.

Yet, the choice of a running mate from Massachusetts, John F. Kennedy’s home state, and, in fact, of someone who had already been soundly beaten by Kennedy in a senate race eight years earlier, seems in retrospect rather odd indeed.

In contrast to Richard Nixon’s energetic fifty-state marathon, Lodge’s hatred for the nuts and bolts of press-the-flesh campaigning translated into a monumentally lackluster performance.  He took long naps after lunch, refused evening appearances, and regularly canceled those scheduled in the afternoon.  One politico complained, “we didn’t mind him having a nap in the afternoon, but why did he have to put on his pajamas?”

Nixon had well-known problems with television that year, but Lodge’s work before the camera was far worse – the only redemption being that much of it never saw the light of day.  During one of many attempts to produce shows or spots, he botched his delivery so badly that several expensive hours worth of work had to be completely scrapped.

Because Henry Cabot Lodge Jr. could not carry his home state, function coherently on television, or work a full day on the campaign trail, Richard Nixon, for all practical purposes, conducted a solo campaign by default.  He was not helped at all by his running mate.  In fact, Lodge was a dead-weight drag on the ticket. And as the campaign reached the end, the Republican vice presidential nominee gathered his team in advance of election night to prepare a statement.  Margery Petersen, a Nixon secretary, was asked to type it up.  She later recalled: “When I saw it, I just couldn’t believe my eyes. It was a concession statement! I refused to type it.”  How’s that for a team player?

It is generally agreed that vice presidential candidates don’t usually affect the outcome of elections.  That may be true, but in 1960 there was a notable exception to this political rule of thumb.  Even Nixon himself reportedly admitted years later that his selection of Lodge was a mistake.

With all the talk about whether or not a vice presidential candidate is prepared for the presidency itself, the fact is that the most effective running mates have not been people who instantly resonated with voters as presidential.  On the contrary, the best of the lot have been good team players, hard campaigners, and politicians who understood that it wasn’t about them.  They balanced, complimented, and did their best to help the person in the top spot to win.

Whether or not a person who steps from some other duty to run for vice president is prepared at that moment for the actual presidency is not the real issue.  If elected, the vice presidency itself will provide ample training.

Sarah Palin may have a few things to learn in her new role as Republican vice presidential nominee, but she is certainly no Henry Cabot Lodge Jr.  She is a superb campaigner, compelling communicator, and charismatic crowd pleaser.  If John McCain is elected, he will make sure that she is prepared to become president, should circumstances ever call for that.

Of course, the real question is: Is anyone ever completely prepared to be president of the United States?

History
Look at the people who have become vice president over the last, oh, 30, 40, 50, 100 years, regardless of party. Every vice president has been far more prepared, and had far more experience, than Sarah Palin has. There's no denying that fact. No, none have been completely prepared to be POTUS, but that doesn't mean they've all started at the same point.

I for one have NO doubt
That Sarah Palin is not only qualified, and will be able to perform well as Vice President. AND if the occasion arises where she must step up (whether temporarily or permanently) and assume the duties of President, she will perform equally well in that capacity.

Having thoroughly studied her record as City Councilman then Mayor of her hometown of Wasilla, and her performance as Governor of Alaska, I have a lot of confidence in her ability to rise to the occasion.

She's DEFINITELY a far better candidate for the job than Joe "Foot In Mouth" Biden.

Experience
Palin has a He!! of a lot more experience than Obama. Biden has more than the 2 of them put together, I would rather have someone who would want to protect our country than to swap spit with our enemies.Until the American People wake up to ALL the Coruption in Washington from BOTH parties nothing will ever change. They are selling our Jobs out to the highest payer for cheap Labor. Wake Up American's and start putting the blame where it belongs , in CONGRESS and the SENATE.

To Marine's Dad
Totally Agree - that's why the Dems/Obama and their mainstream media are trying to destroy Gov. Palin's reputation. What ever happened to women's rights? The people that wear "equality" on their sleeves are exposed once again.

To Dave
So you are not going to vote then?

Dave (TX) & Marine's Dad (UT)
I'm in complete agreement with you. Palin has what we need in this country, in government, or in any position of import.

LaDonna
Gov. Palin scares you as a VP, but Sen. Obama doesn't scare you as a president? SHE has more experience than HE!

Hitlery And Bill the Communist
won't release their records and have alot to hide. With the crook Sandy Burglar stealing documents from the National Archives to protect Clinton why can't liberal socialists release their records? What have they got to hide.? Why are they hiding issues?

NE Conservative
Wow - you stirred my anger by reminding me of what Sandy Burglar got away with - unbelievable ethical double standard in this country fueled by the liberal/leftist mainstream media!

LaDonna
You are obviously a troll. Gibson is no interviewer only a "gotcha" pundit playing for the lefties because he is outshown every day by his co-anchor (a woman). As has been said many times before there is no one that is "qualified" to be POTUS until after they are elected. Gov. Palin is the best qualified candidate we've had in years and definitely better that Ovomit. If something (God forbid) happens to Sen. McCain we will be well represented by Gov. Palin.

I have taken on the Republican Party establishment,
I have many children,
I have a spot on the national ticket as vice president with less than two

Guess yet?

Teddy Roosevelt

Sarah Palin is one of the quickest minds we've seen in a while and she is one of us. No, she doesn't have a lot of experience at Washington cocktail parties or stealing money from Fannie or Freddie - but my money's on her any day of the week.

Truman was ill prepared?
This hack writer did not know Truman was a Senator for 10 years,a WW1 vet,who was a real player in the Senate during WW11.Truman was picked as a replacement VP because FDR going into his 4th term was sick and fragile and the Democrat leaders wanted to make sure a capable man could take over. And Bush thinks history will put him in Truman's class.

Just what the Libs want...
I bet the Libs are dancing for joy when hours of posts are spent on debating Gov. Palin's experience because it takes the spotlight off of Obama's extreme lack of executive experience. 143 days in the Senate when his campaign began? Let's not lose the focus here!

Very Good History Lesson
I totally forgot about Henry Cabot Lodge as Nixon's running mate, which supports David's thesis that a lack-luster running mate can do more damage than good. In contrast, Sarah does enjoy campaigning and giving speeches around the country. Her enthusiasm is contagious which is why the Republicans are making significant strides in the polls. Yup, I sure did forget about Henry Cabot Lodge as he didn't make an impact in the public eye then. He indeed was a footnote in history.

Texaschuck
You're incorrect. According to Rossevelt's own writings, he selected Truman because he was a nobody. He'd selected his other vp's for the same reason. He didn't want anyone to overshadow him. There was the risk that a popular and competant VP might run against him and, oh my, win. Truman was given absolutely NO training in case Rossevelt died. He hardly even talked to the President. In fact, had Rossevelt lived out that term, Truman probably would have been treated exactly like his VP predecessor, who had a sign outside his Senate office that read "If you don't have something for me to do, go away!"

Fortunately, Rossevelt selected a man who was a quick study and had depths of intelligence and character that prepared him well when thrust into a position. This article in no way demeans that. Truman was a great president, but he was not selected for his ability to do the job, but because Rossevelt figured nobody would notice him.

What about leadership?
I think people are missing the point about Sarah Palin. She is one of the few politicians in recent memory that actually has fought the establishment and won, and not intermittently, but consistently. I respect Senator Biden's service, but, when has he ever been held accountable for any decisions that he has ever made in the Senate? And, isn't the Presidency all about accountability? Who would you rather have at John McCain's side to try and change the disgusting mess that Washington has become?

Not usually this polite on TH.But correct me if I am wrong but the practice in FDR and Truman's time was the old smoke filled from when the party leaders decided that FDR was not going to live out his term and Henry Wallace the current VP ( pretty sure it was him) was too far left (did I say that!) and you are right Truman was left out of the loop as was the custom but could finish out WW11 when FDR died.

something for the trolls
Barackuy's one accomlishment, if you can call it that, was racial agitaion and registering people to vote as a community organizer.

Palin has many years of administrative experience in continually increasing levels of responsibility.

The trolls try to besmear Sarah because he 17 yr old daughter got "caught", but she is going to marry him-her fiance.

Barack's conception was to a 17 yr old girl who slept around with black men. Who knows if the man known as Barack Sr. is the actual person who impregnated the girl!?!

Palin is yrs ahead of BHO in experience! She is decades ahead of Biden in ethical ideology.

There really is NO comparison. IF/when Mac and Sarah are elected, I have no doubt it will be more like a co-presidency. Mac is already having her attend security briefings. Sarah IS ready - and will be even more prepared to "assume the position".

Mutual Defense is a NATO Requirement
LaDonna wrote:
She commented to Charlie Gibson that Russia went into Georgia unprovoked and we needed to stand up to Russia. And it goes on!!!!!I think McCain has a decent head on his shoulders but Palin SCARES the s**t out of me!!!!!
-----
Sarah Palin is exactly right LaDonna. It is part of the treaty establishing NATO that it's members defend each other if/when attacked.

Georgia is not a member yet, and Russia DID launch an unprovoked attack on them, mainly to get control of their oil pipelines and to intimidate them against joining NATO, but even as a potential member, it is the duty of all NATO member nations to come to the defense of Georgia from illegal Russian aggression. Which this clearly was.

http://www.nato.int/terrorism/five.htm

Article 5 of the Washington Treaty:
The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognised by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the....

What does Article 5 mean?
Article 5 is at the basis of a fundamental principle of the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. It provides that if a NATO Ally is the victim of an armed attack, each and every other member of the Alliance will consider this act of violence as an armed attack against all members and will take the actions it deems necessary to assist the Ally attacked.

This is the principle of collective defence.

Are you trying to, in a very convoluted manner, tell us that Oblahma-Bin-Biden IS "ready" ?
If so, you are a good example of the product our failed school system is turning our these days...Community Agitator (sounds like Marxist cells "lead" by their "Top Komrade") or a dopey/goofy Senator who never, ever was held accountable to a lifetime of being wrong ?
Neither Oblahma nor Bin-Biden ever met a pay check. I'd rather vote for the Hot-Dog stand "manager"...

Repubs & Dirty Politics
Richard Nixon had zero luck as far as his veeps are concerned. Remember Spiro Agnew? He went from a lazy, indolent Boston Brahmin to a corrupt Maryland politician. The sad part about the Nixon presidency is that Republicans can't get away with dirty politics like the Democrats, who are masters at suborning the electoral and governmental processes.

to Dave from TX
Your post was corrct up to the point where you said Obamas mother goes around sleeping with black men, if she had slept with a white man that would be okay? You make it sound like that all she does, she was educated not a country hick, why does she not just sleep around many women do. Do not become like the Dems with trash in your message.

She's a new Teddy!!
She really has a lot in common with Roosevelt the Greater (Teddy) than with most other politicians. She's also one of US not another East Coast Ivy League liberal elite LAWYER!!

LaDonna, I caught that crack. You couldn't just say "sliced bread" could you? You smarmy "smartest person in the room" Leftist wise @$$!!
You just HAD to say "Sliced WHITE bread" didn't you? And you think WE'RE hung up on race? It's twerps like YOU who see race first last and foremost. If you were a man I'd suggest you take a "flying fornication at a revolving pastry"!!!

The dems say Palin isn't qual'd
but biden is?
Just what has biden ever done except warm a seat and run his mouth?
Comparing them is easy and sarah wins by a mile..having to make a decision and owning the result is the key and the people of AK certainly approve of her performance.

Voting and sharing the blame or the glory with 99 others is nothing, almost as bad as not having the stones to vote at all.

As McCain recently said, "presidents cannot vote present".
Sarah has both the guts and the judgement for the job with a clearly demonstrated love for this country.

The other two are clearly in love with themselves and getting elected, we come in 2nd and will always be nothing but cash cows to their base.

VP Credentials
I have a niece in Florida who has five very intelligent and well behaved children, ages 4 to 18. She is a math teacher in a Florida School. She is also a licensed building contractor and president of a construction company, building middle to upper priced homes, and if that is not enough, runs a very successful internet business on the side, in addition to attending her children's school activities. Contrast that to the job of Vice President. Their are a lot of super efficient women in the world and my niece and Sarah Palin are only two of them.

"Subject: When she took the money for...
The Bridge to Nowhere, what exactly was she saying, "Thanks, but no thanks" for?"

Suppose you are my adult son/daughter and you come to me and ask for money for a new tennis racket. No, come to think of it, suppose your brother asks me for you. You have $100 and the racket costs $250. I agree to give you $200 but ask that you wait until the end of the week so I can get the money from my savings account. Your mother hears about this and talks with you. You need dental work and haven't had the $300 to pay for it. Your mother suggests that you should take the $300 and get your tooth fixed. You agree. You come back to me and say that you've decided against the tennis racket but would the money still be available. I say, "No problem. I've already got it in the budget and it's yours to do with as you will."

Question: Who "killed" the tennis racket idea?

I think she's more qualified
to be president than McCain, Obama, or Biden. Why? All three of them strike me as typically phony politicians, skilled at giving pretty speeches, but unable to competently run so much as a hot dog stand. Palin, on the other hand, comes across as genuine--what we see is what she really is. That alone puts her above the others in my book. I think the last president who fit this description was Eisenhower. Many consider him to have been a mediocre president, but consider: He didn't start any wars; he'd had enough of war, having seen it up close in all its ugliness. He got us out of a useless war, and he prevented a war in the Middle East when France and England appeared to be about to start one. He conceived the Interstate Highway system, the only federal project I can think of that benefits us all, instead of some narrow special interest. I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles on it, and it's wonderful. It actually works like it's supposed to. What other federal program does?

Palin is no Quayle
The filth the media has dumped on Palin has been unprecedented and the intensity of the hatred from the Left is a surprise as well.

The most cynical of the Left's arguments is to attempt to link Palin to Quayle. The similarities are that they're both physically attractive and relatively young. That's where the similarities end.

But, it's all good. The more the Left concentrates on Palin, and the more outrageous their accusations, the more it helps McCain.

Bridge retort for JNIK
JNIK

I dont see how you can make an unsubtantiated statement like that, especially if you try and put yourself in that same situation

1. Congress made the request for the bridge to nowhere, not Palin herself..
2. At that same time Ms. Palin was Mayor, not the Governor. She ran for Gov supporting the BTN probably because it was popular in that it brought in revenue and jobs for the state.
3. After becoming Gov, she re-evaluated the BTN and discovered that it wasnt what she wanted. More than likely at the same time the details of it became more public (I know I recall a 60 Minutes show on it a while back in regards to the senator supporting it). As a mayor would not likely have access to the details of the legislation before it got to a certain point in the legislative process, but as Governor she would have access.

At the same time though, the supporters of the bill (in congress and senate) were still pushing it to pass. BHO and Slow Joe voted for it.

At least she had the common sense to reverse her decision based on the updated information she had.

Its like being a manager vs. ceo in a company. The CEO has the information he needs to make decisions for the company, the manager has information he needs to support the CEO (or direction of the company) with respect to his/her own area of responsibility. If the manager is promoted to director, he/she all of a sudden has access and responsibilities for many areas of the company, thus requiring making decisions based on more information than as manager.

So, to summarize:

1. BHO and Biden had all the information and still voted for a bad bill.
2. Palin first supported it as a Mayor running for Governor (probably not having the access to all the information about the bill), then reversing her decision after reviewing the details and discovering it wasnt very practical afterall.

Presidential?

When you got down to the point, this article was interesting. It is to be hoped that John McCain, a bona fide American hero will live to serve his country for the 4 or 8 years he will possibly be elected for. However, there is little doubt that the VP who wears lipstick will be well trained and ready if worse comes to worst and she has to move up to the awesome post of President and Commander-in-Chief. This is a savvy lady with the tenacity of our often heard of Pit Bull. Sarah will rise to the task she is given and we will be proud to have elected her!

aurorawatcher reply 12
It's hard to accept your scholarly discourse on FDR when you never spell his name correctly in five instances.

Well Concord
that may indeed be true but the same can be said about Obama, and more so. You Dems keep trying to act like Palin is the head of the ticket, she isn't. McCain is and in ALL areas (except community organizer/terrorist sympathizer) he has Obama beat. If I were a Obama supporter the LAST thing I would want to bring up is the experience factor. McCain and Clinton before have been talking about Obama's lack of experience from the get go. This isn't just political talk, it's fact. Or do you consider community organizing as presidential experience? If so how?

The amount of "misinformation" and/or

total lack of information about Gov. Palin is nothing short of astounding.

Not one poster has "backed up" their "she's not qualified" or "she scares the sh!t out of me..." statements.

In fact, not one of them has provided any reason... not even a stupid reason.

Not only did Gov. Palin handle Chawleee Gibson's disgraceful "gotcha" interview very professionally and knowledgeably, she put him in his place and neither Chawleee nor the libs realized it.

Now, you want to talk about someone who isn't ready? How about Marxist Obama who, with his arrogance and ignorance, actually presumed that he could and should speak at Brandenburg Gate.

What an embarrassment for the US! And then Angela Merkel had to "uninvite" him after he'd not been invited in the first place!

Marxist Obama certainly has no clue about foreign diplomacy. Obviously, he's best suited to work in the neighborhoods!

Qualifications?

Would anyone like to post what the qualifications for both POTUS and VEEP are?

This should include a prognostication of every situation that may arise during their terms in office. Please include unforeseen events such as the Civil War, the World Wars, Korea, Dealy Plaza, Iran hostage, Lewinsky, 9-11, Wall Street meltdown. Be sure to include anything that might be traced back to their predecessors. Also list how a candidate may adequately prepare to meet these challenges unerringly.

TIA

I thought people wanted change?
Step back and look at this for a second. Are we stupid? All Americans on both sides keep saying is "we need change in Washington". Or "we cannot continue with the same ole thing going on in Washington". Now look at the candidates before us. On one side you have Obama (a product of the infamous Daley political machine of Chicago) and Biden, a Washington insider for a long time. On the other side you have McCain, a senior Senator (and yes a Washington insider) and Palin, the current Governor of Alaska with zero Washington exposure. Basically you have the same things on both sides but with the less experienced candidate leading one ticket and the insider on the other. That leaves us with ONLY their stance on the issues to decide. We all know Obama's stance on Iraq. That is to concede the surge failed (despite the fact it was a success) and withdraw, while McCain favors keeping troops there in an advisory role with gradual drawn downs in numbers. Regarding the economy, Obama's answer to an up and down economy is TAX TAX TAX, while McCain favors incentives for businesses with less taxation and more competition. Please tell me how tzxes promote business OR how many poor people are also employers? Regarding healthcare again McCain favors reform and competition with some government aid to the poor while Obama heralds excessive programs coming from where? MORE TAXES supposedly only on the rich. These are the three major issues facing this country and by their stated intentions to deal with them, McCain/Palin is the ONLY way to go.

experience
It all comes down to the fact that
palin is more experienced than all 3 of the rest.

She will be a quick study with foreign affairs.

This election has been a disgrace.

World Wars What?
Please see my post "Wakie wakie" in response to Cushman's column. Texaschuck and maybe aurorawatcher are most likely products of our dumbed down public schools. A grasp of real history, logical reasoning and the basics - readin' ritin' and rithmetic - are not in their skills sets, thus are disdained by them. Childishly chuck bashes - "hack writer," Bush and aurora while making his own errors in identification of the two world wars. Such proper identification and spelling of a President's name are not important to them. Watcher's argument that FDR picked Truman because Truman waa a nobody supports the writer's points and is oh so much more civil and decent than chuck's bashing.

You are so right about Obama's speech at the Brandenburg gate!!! The man was saying SILLY things that made NO SENSE whatsoever! Is THIS what liberals call foreign policy experience? He made claims about Germans fighting side by side with other world freedom fighters to maintain liberty (or some such tripe) when the reality was that if not for American resources, Stalin would have overrun ALL of Germany. A simple look at a map of Germany and knowledge of positions held by each side at that time shows how isolated Berlin truly was. American airlifts brought in badly needed supplies while American troops held the Soviet army at bay. Seems Barry didn't understand the reason the wall was built to begin with, to keep east Germans IN not west Germans OUT. This sort of thing is why I can't WAIT for the debates because it will be amusing watching Barry STRUGGLE while exposing his lack of understanding of the realities and lessons that history has taught us. The only reason he had such large crowds was because he had hired rock bands to perform before and after his speeches and MOST Germans paid little attention to what he had to say. I have a good friend who recently moved here from Germany and she told me that people there are TIRED of hearing about Hitler and how terrible he was and they are even more tired of hearing know nothings like Mr. 57 state Barry Obama preach to them about their history when in fact he hasn't a CLUE!!!

Typical liberal coverage
was revealed in this sundays Detroit paper which is a combined paper of the Free Press (liberal) and the News (conservative.)

On it's editorial page, the Free press had a page full of letters from voters regarding how unprepared Palin was for the vice presidency, All were of course about emotion and impression.
Opposite this page was an editorial about how choosing mavericks is not a good way to run a country and the chance is that they will try to out maverick each other.(Again, emotion and impression.)

The News editorial page featured a report from a group of businessmen and local leaders. This report was proposing ways to save money for the state. The editorial revealed this cost cutting and why there was merit.

The choice of content suggests to me Democrats are very worried.

Palin is twice as prepared
to be President than Obama is to be dogcatcher, as he has never administered anything and has never even called his own subcommittee to a hearing, which is something he could have led.

But Palin isn't running to be president.

Biden, on the other hand was a Watergate hack Dem., who then helped pass all the 70s legislation that often plagues us today: the split between CIA nad FBI (rectified by Patriot Act); voted for Community Restoration Act which requires financials to carry 10% bad loans to prove they aren't discriminating (someone chided me yesterday that this act isn't very significant--HOWEVER, many business are lucky to make a 10% profit and many banks are in that category);

presdided over the Carter ec. with Uncle Jimmy--high everything except GNP;

opposed all of Reagan's push to end communism;

voted for Clinton's biggest tax raise ever;

voted for the Iraq War before he voted against the surge before he acknowledged that the surge is a success and now wants to criminalize Middle Eastern policy with prosecutions after-the-fact.

He has also no executive experience. And now mutters Hillary would've been a better choice. A person who has that much confidence in himself should probably not own a dog, let along be dog catcher.

And these leapin' libs are so worried

about Gov. Palin that they fail to see that she's running for VP... NOT Sec. State, or any one of the other Cabinet members who actually do the face to face negotiations.

But, you might want to consider Joe "ol' gaffe a sentence" Biden. Now there's somebody you WOULDN'T want talking to anyone... even our allies. Biden could single handedly, easily alienate our friends, and there's no telling what he'd do with out enemies.

There is no doubt that they're worried sick about Gov. Palin... but not because she's not qualified. It's because she IS FAR MORE QUALIFIED than Marxist Obama and Biden, and they're worried into derangement that she and Sen. McCain might just WIN this election!

Problem Solving should be #1 Requirement

America is facing many problems both at home and abroad. How many countries one has visited or how many states one has visited is not a skill. How many times someone voted present shows lack of committment.

Rhetoric is a skill but NOT a problem solving skill. Telling people what they want to hear is a skill but does NOT solve problems.

Using vague terms like 'Hope' and 'Change', are good advertising skills to sell a product but does NOT guarantee the product solves any problems.

Problem solving requires one to use facts, reason and logic and arrive at the best solution for a given problem.

The ability to use abstraction to understand the problem, by reducing it to its least components or highest level of abstraction, is a skill necessary to understand a complex event or problem.

Elitists who view themselves above the problems and issues of everday life are least likely to solve the problem then someone living the reality of everyday life.

Those who caused the problem, rarely can solve the problem or there would NOT have been a problem in the first place.

My random thoughts having worked primarily as a computer software problem solver many years.

Sample Problem - Education part 1

Most all Americans agree that our Educational system isn't working. America is ranked 18th in the world even though we spend more money than any other country per student. How then would we solve this problem?

Many centuries ago, mankind realized that little nature gives one is suited for survival and must be transformed to meet their needs and the needs of those they are responsible for i.e. family.

Early mankind realized that they must be pro-active and seek to enhance skills, knowledge and implements to ensure the survival and well being of self and family.

The earliest Schools were started out of necessity for survival.

This 'survival' school had teachers (parents) students (children) a curriculum and a graduation.

Curriculum consisted of Courses on: shelter, Clothing, fire, hunting, fishing, planting and harvesting, gathering, defense, finding ones way, language etc.

Tradition and history were so important, that while resting around the fire at night the teachers recited over and over to their students the necessity of learning from the past and not repeating failure.

Life and death was determined by the skill of the teacher and the hard work and determination of the student.

Survival School was tough and grades were easily measured, 'Graduates' lived and prospered, non-graduates died.

Not a fact
>It all comes down to the fact that
palin is more experienced than all 3 of the rest.<

Experienced at what? Having babies? Sarah Palin and Barack Obama are novelty candidates.

McCain's proven that he is fully capable of working with he opposition party, even though many from his own party see that as a negative.

Biden has a proven record of bi-partisan cooperation as well, most recently co-sponsoring a resolution with Republican Sam Brownback that would provide self-determination for the three distinct ethnicities in Iraq - Kurds, Sunni Arabs and Shiite Arabs - a resolution passed by a huge majority in the Senate and ignored(at least publicly) by President Bush.

It's distressing to see people use the word fact to fallaciously describe their personal opinion.

Avery - Subject: Me
You are absolutely correct about mt post. I did not mention anyhing about right/wrong for BHO's mother sleeping around with white men or women.

Why? The info (incl what MSM has put out) is she "dated" several black men (I take it that means preferred) before getting pg and eventually marrying BHO's "father".

Although nothing has really been mentioned about it, that was the "hippie" period with the "free love" culture. She WAS 17 when she got pg w/ BHO. Barack Sr. married to "give the baby a name", and then he deserted them when BHO was , what?, 2 yrs old.

"Momma" had loose morals (she also "dated" several black men after Sr. left).

I'm not being racist! Inter-racial marriage is fairly common today, but back then it was something frowned upon by blacks AND whites (google Rev. Manning for more). A white girl "dating", and marrying, a black man branded her as a "cheap" person. For BOTH, it was a rebellion against both races.

I should have made this point in my first post.

DCR: Just "empty claims" with no facts

to back them up!

Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin are drawing larger and larger crowds no matter where they go.

"...Palin fails and we know it." Exactly HOW do you know that?

You are right about one thing... this is not time for amateur hour, which is precisely why we cannot afford to have a "neighborhood organizer" as president.

And, just to set the record straight, Palin got MORE votes when she ran for mayor of little Wasilla than Biden got during his failed campaign running for pres.

How about that for someone who's a heart beat from the presidency?

Experience
There is a good video out.I think its on utube where a guy from cnn asks Newt about her experience. The reporter named Allen had no answer, and couldn't defend Obama

Doug on Eisenhower
"he got us out of a useless war"

Which one? WWII? He got us out of that one alright - by committing to total victory over enemies determined to rule the world.

Sample Problem - Education part 2

We have used abstraction to reduce education to its highest level or least components.

In what way should modern education differ from the abstraction of the earliest schools?

Survival in the world - first we should dtermine whether or not survival is still or should be the primary focus of education.

Modern technology has produced an environment that is little suited for survival by itself, the student must be trained for what is necessary to work within the technology environment to meet their needs and the needs of those they are responsible for i.e. family.

The primary need of a student to survive in the information age is the ability to communicate with others.

A common language is essential for communications within the 'Information age'.

The ability to hunt, gather, plant, harvest and otherwise use information is necessary in todays technology environment.

Some are more skilled than others in technology, but all can prosper through trade, service implements, transportation, clothing, housing etc.

Square one in this age of technology or any past or future age is communication to other humans.

Self-esteem is taught in our schools as a theoritical subject instead of an experience of achievment.

My conclusion is that survival should still be the primary focus of education and it is NOT.

Problem Solving should be #1 Requirement

Our current congress has the lowest approval rate in modern history.

When Harry Reid, leader of the Senate was asked what should be done about the current crises on Wall Street, his response: "No one knows what to do".

When Nancy Pelosi was asked what to do about the energy crises she said: 'More supply would NOT solve the lack of supply'.

When Barack Obama presented his solution to the energy crises it was a 'Tire Gauge'.

When Barack Obama was asked about the failing education system he said "Teachers who are not doing their job should receive the same pay and those who are doing their job should get a raise".

Now Liberals are saying that Sarah Palin does not have this type of experience so she is NOT qualified.

Maybe we should fire all of the people who have the experience of Barack, Harry and Nancy and replace them with Sarah Palin types.

Interesting that you are evaluating Palin's peformance as mayor of a 5,000 person town that she governed from a store front.

I'm just curious as to how you compare running this village to being commander in chief of a country of more than 300 million people that is entrenched in a war that even Petraus says will never see true "victory", an imploding economy,
unaffordable health care, and rising unemployment, and a second war that we are losing on a daily basis.

You need to spend some time in the real world, my friend - you're not in Kansas any more.

Interesting that you are evaluating Obama's performance as a community organizer that he worked from a Saul Alinsky Communist organization to a Governor of a state.

Do you believe Barack Obama used 'good judgment' when he picked Joe Biden as VP when 1% Joe received 9,000 votes in the primaries over Hillary Clinton who received 18,000,000 votes?

Teddy would be appalled
>I can almost hear him 'up there' exclaiming "BULLY!" at McCain's choice of AK's Governor,

Teddy Roosevelt would hardly agree with Palin's irresponsible and unethical promotion of aerial hunting of bears and wolves, not to mention her $150 a leg wolf bounty that threatened the delicate predator/ungulate balance, a bounty that was almost immediately halted by court order which established she had no power to establish such a reprehensible practise.

Teddy was a conservationist who would be lambasted by the extraction-industry first crowd which counts Palin as a puppet to their cause.

Responsible hunters and fishermen understand the need for preserving areas where wildlife can flourish in the ever-increasing encroachment of human populations and their thirst for resources. Palin has shown no desire to understand the balance necessary for healthy ecosystems. Teddy was totally committed to such.

Do you believe that every United States Citizen should have the same rights and protections under the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights - no more - no less?

Can Marxist Obama spell Logan Act?

Of course Marxist Obama denies it, but that's NOT what Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari and Gen. Petraeus say.....

http://elections.foxnews.com/2008/09/15/obama-camp-denies-h e-tried-to-delay-withdrawal-agreement-of-troops-from-iraq/

"Democratic presidential candidate privately tried to persuade Iraqi political leaders to stall an agreement on scaling back American troops in Iraq while publicly campaigning for a speedy withdrawal.

"Obama’s request for a delay was a major theme of his talks with Iraqi leaders in Baghdad in July, Iraqi Foreign Minister Hoshyar Zebari said in an interview with the Post.

"Obama also tried to persuade the U.S. commanders, including Gen. David Petraeus, to offer a 'realistic withdrawal date,' the Post reported. The commanders declined, the newspaper said.

"A top foreign policy adviser to Obama sat in on the meetings between the candidate and Iraqi officials this summer and said no such conversations occurred, the campaign said Monday.

"Obama has said he wants U.S. troops out of Iraq as rapidly as possible, and while the U.S. negotiates a Status of Forces Agreement with Iraq, Obama wants that brought to Congress."

THIS IS THE BEST PART......

"According to the report in the Post, Obama said he wants the BUSH ADMINISTRATION EXCLUDED from the negotiations, given its 'state of weakness and political confusion.'”

And some think he's prepared to be POTUS???

Perhaps with his fancy law degree he missed the day they studied the LOGAN ACT!!!

Pancho Question for you?

Do you believe that Illegal Immigrants should have the same rights and protections under the United States Constitution and Bill of Rights that an American Citizen has - no more - no less?

RE Forgettable V.P Nominees

Re "A Very Forgettable Vice Presidential Nominee," I can't help but recall the interview conducted by CNN's Campbell Brown with a newspaper editor from Alaska, shortly after John McCain had selected Sarah Palin to be his running mate.

When asked about his reaction to the selection of Gov. Palin, the editor replied something to the effect that Dan Quayle was a better choice. 'Nuff said.

Sarah
What this country needs now is Sarah - she has more experience "governing" than any of the three candidates. She went after corruption in her own party in Alaska - and that's what we need now - someone who is not entrenched in good old boy politics as usual in Wash. D.C. Congress, you liberals out there, has a 9% approval rating - Nancy Pelosi, the nitwit of all times, shut down congress and went on vacation while the rest of us paid over $4 per gallon of gas! Harry Reid, the traitor along with Kerry & Murtha trash our military and I'm certain that if we are hit again like 9/11 you will be the first people to scream - except you won't have Bush to blame! I want people in elected positions who love our country, the freedoms our fathers outlined for us - a Democracy, free markets, Judges who follow the constitution and don't interpret it with their own beliefs. Obama is a disaster on all counts - his friends are terrorists and criminals - his wife is "just now proud of America" - sat through twenty years of a hate mongering preacher - I have loved America all my life. John McCain has lived his love of America and so has Sarah Palin - a vote for the Democrap ticket is a vote for socialism and Marxism - do the research!

My Two Cents
One, all of you who say Palin lacks experience but are voting for Oblahma are laughable. I have asked before and I ask again: What has Obama ever done of significance outside of writing two books about himself? Name one piece of significant legislation or one deed. Or will you be like Alan Colmes and tell me about the hundreds of pieces of legislation Oblahma has passed with nary a name of just one.

Two, as Governor of a state it was Palin's job to secure as much federal money as she could for her state. DUH! How can people not get this? Someone made the Manager / CEO analogy. It is much like that. As a manager I try to get as much of the budget as I can directed to my department. As CEO I should do everything I can to keep expenses down in each department as I look at the big picture. As governor of Alaska her big picture was Alaska not DC!!

I can agree to a point with those who question Palin's experience but first, I for one do not believe McCain's going to suddenly die (not when I see and hear his 96 year-old mother) and second, I don't see how anyone can believe the do-nothing empty suit and the career talker/voter would be more qualified than she. Again I ask my liberal friends to name one thing either of these clowns have run or done.

I won't hold my breath waiting for an answer with any substance.

TO: nmi from NJ
"CNN' "Campbell Brown" an "unnamed newspaper editor from Alaska" a "news story" criticizing Sara Palin. I use you words and say, "Nuff said." Because I also say, "Zero Credibility and Media Bias."

Sarah Palin Not Nearly the best Choice
I know there has been a lot of hype about Sarah Palin, but in the end it is going to cost McCain vote or the election. If he ever really had a chance of winning.
Her flaws become self evident every day. She may have more experience than Barack Obama, but her interview with Charlie Gibbson sent shivers of fear up my spine. I would not want this woman to be president of a dog club. She showed her lack of experience and knowledge. On the other hand Obama does seem to demonstrate his grasp of the issues.
As republicans we don't have to worry the world may come to an end if he is elected. If Palin becomes president and there is a fair chance McCain could die in office. His life expectancy is 76 and he has had cancer and has been subject to a great deal of physical abuse.
What we as republicans have a problem with is he is going to tax the riches Americans a little more and the middle class a little less. (I don't make $250 K so for me good idea.)

Okay, I think I've changed my mind..

Apparently (and who knows why??) the dumboRATS seem to think that the VP is all important when it comes to foreign policy.

So, IF that's true, then I think Biden might actually be a good choice...

Picture: Joe Biden sitting down with imadinnerjack in Iran to discuss their nuclear arms.

After about 16hrs. of non-stop listening to Biden, provided imadinnerjacket hasn't blown out his own brains, he will throw up his arms, and yell...

"ENOUGH! I've had it. I can't listen to this idiot another minute! You win. I'll disarm... now! I promise, NOW!"

Remember during the judicial hearings last summer... Each Senator had 30mins. to question the nominee, and Biden took up 28mins. of his allotted 30mins. to TALK!

No, I really haven't changed my mind... but that's just how ridiculous the libs are sounding. {eyes rolling}

You are NOT a republican because you have to keep stating "republicans" in your post as if we can't figure out your motive! If the Obama tax increases do not affect you, so for you it's a "good idea", what about the tax increases affecting your employer who pays YOU! Everyone will be affected, don't fool yourself. Redistribution of wealth is not patriotic, as Biden says, only hurtful to the economy. Econ 101.

Roosevelt would approve of Sarah.
T.Roosevelt had to be disuaded form his planned hunting trip of lions with dogs on his 1903 trip to Yellowstone. He loved to hunt. I have not the slightest doubt that he would be just as concerned about declining moose and caribou numbers caused by excess predators as Mrs. Palin is.

Bobbitt asked
>What has Obama ever done of significance outside of writing two books about himself? Name one piece of significant legislation or one deed."

In the Illinois State Senate, he worked with both Democrats and Republicans to help working families get ahead by creating programs like the state Earned Income Tax Credit, which in three years provided over $100 million in tax cuts to families across the state. He also pushed through an expansion of early childhood education, and after a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Senator Obama worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases."

His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, (The Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006 S. 2590} a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars are spent. You know, the procedure that Sarah Palin thinks and claims was her own idea.

In the U.S. Senate Obama is unique among Senators in that he serves on three of the four Senate Committees dealing with foreign policy issues including the Foreign Relations; Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; and Veterans' Affairs committees and is the Chair of the Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Relations which is responsible fore U.S. relations with European countries, the European Union, and the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (i.e., NATO). There is no Senator except for Barack Obama who serves on three of the four committees that deal with foreign policy.

How does this compare with Sarah Palin, who's claim to fame is mainly field-dressing a moose and fighting an investigation she once promised would receive her full cooperation.

Oh, that's right. She's perky.

Qualifications
All four of the candidates have sufficient credentials. McCain and Palin are fully qualified to run the country, and Obama bin Biden have what it takes to ruin it.

Sarah Palin NOT an elitist
'Sacrifice for the Common Good'

Liberals believe their goals are Noble and Righteous. They want to elevate and defend the poor and the downtrodden masses. Liberals want to help these people, but do not wish to give up their own lifestyles and privileges.

Notice that many Liberals are wealthy and priviledged and exhibit guilt complexes because of the stark contrast between them and the poor. Rather than give up their own wealth, they become politicians or support other elitists who are politicians. Most, if not all elitists use tax shelters and off shore accounts to shield their money while laying the tax burden on others.

Liberals want the government and other peoples money to solve all the woes of the poor and downtrodden and relieve their own guilt. Liberals can then make a great show of their compassion and castigate others for not paying their 'Fair Share'.

Liberals believe their call is a 'Higher Duty' and they exchange their calling with 'Real Religion' and bastardize the Golden Rule to 'Do unto others, with others money, to help the least among us'.

Liberals then call those who resist their false compassion - mean spirited, bigoted and even question their Patriotism, for not being willing to 'Sacrifice for the Common Good.

Debates are fruitless
It's clear to me from reading this post that McCain's supporters are basically people who think that Bush's presidency (and by extension, McCain's and Palin's) are by way of a direct order from God; that running a tiny Alaska town out of a storefront is training for being commander-in-chief or for fixing our imploding, complicated, global economy, that Obama is muslim, communist, drug-addicted, and a traitor, and that personality triumphs everything (that's how Bush got elected, after all).

Any debate with people who hold views like this is pointless and will never lead anywhere. Reason will never prevail over emotionalism, romantic heroines, and views of America that are basically straight out of a Thomas Kinkade painting.

TO; True Independent

There's way too much emphasis on experience for a VP candidate even though Palin has more executive experience than either democrat candidates. It's an assistant job and understudy for the Presidency and character should be the more important discriminator. Sarah Palin has it in abundance. B.O., by comparison, is trying to pass himself off as being ready for the number one job (he definitely, absolutely is not!) and having the character to do it (he definitely, absolutely does not!). Marxist Obama was a "neighborhood organizer" and an Ill. State Senator, and a US Senator, having voted "Present" 100+ times.

Exactly what, in that background, makes him qualified to be POTUS???

"This fight is winnable, and there is an actual strategy to win, a strategy that consists of more than playing at revolution and calling for chaos in the streets.

Right now the elections are the most critical form of struggle; this is where we have the best shot of finally breaking the back of the ultra right. Afterwards, we will continue to build a united movement that can work to establish a real electoral alternative, and eventually to challenge the system overall.

Of course, a Democratic victory in 2008 will not solve all the problems caused by so many years of ultra-right domination, or by capitalism in general.

Swells of young people agree and have already stepped up to the challenge in the Democratic primaries, voting in record numbers and refusing to accept the idea that these elections don’t matter. In Iowa alone, the youth turnout rate more than tripled from under 21,000 in 2004 to over 65,000 in 2008, and it quadrupled in Tennessee despite the devastating storms that ripped through on Super Tuesday. Similar situations have occurred in all Democratic primaries to date.

And there is something to be said for the movement of young people that surrounds Barack Obama.

This kind of victory, which would include a total Democratic sweep in November, could set the stage for higher forms of struggle for generations to come."

An answer to your question:

In March 2007, Palin presented the Alaska Gasline Inducement Act (AGIA) as the new legal vehicle for building a natural gas pipeline from the state's North Slope.[80] This negated a deal by the previous governor to grant the contract to a coalition including BP. The bill was approved with only a single dissenting vote.[112] and in June, Palin signed it into law.[113] On January 5, 2008, Palin announced that a Canadian company, TransCanada Corporation, was the sole AGIA-compliant applicant.[81][82] In August 2008, Palin signed a bill into law giving the state of Alaska authority to award TransCanada Pipelines $500 million in seed money and a license to build and operate the $26-billion pipeline to transport natural gas from the North Slope to the Continental United States through Canada.[114]

Besides making abortion on demand a 'fundamental right' throughout the United States, FOCA would effectively nullify informed consent laws, waiting periods, health safety regulations for abortion clinics, etc.

Furthermore, medical professionals and institutions that refused abortions also would lose legal protections. FOCA would expose individuals, organizations, and governments - including federal, state, and local government agencies - to costly civil actions for purported violations of the act.

'I am absolutely convinced that culture wars are so nineties; their days are growing dark, it is time to turn the page,' Obama said in July. 'We want a new day here in America. We're tired about arguing about the same ole' stuff. And I am convinced we can win that argument.' Barack Obama

Bush Administration Secretary of the Treasury Paulson fired the CEO of AIG. Then the Bush Administration nationalized AIG.

Your lack of intellectual honesty is astounding.

Afraid to intelligently state your own positions?

DCR
The Dems believe in a government that controls your life as much as possible - POWER=VOTES, get it?
Also, unless the republicans speak up for themselves and often do but are not heard in the mainstream media due to liberal bias, people like you believe the lies that are fed to you. This financial crisis was attempted to be intervened by President Bush and John McCain in the past years, but they were ignored. Meanwhile, Bill Clinton and Alan Greenspan are regarded as heroes.

Correction for Retired geek
The Bush Administration--who say government is the problem then proves it--first nationalized AIG with 85 billion of our money, THEN fired its leadership.

DCR answer question please?

Can the President authorize spending or is that a function of Congress?

Who controls Congress in your view?

To Retired Geek
Your posts are very intelligent and informative - thank you.

DCR

On spending and Fiscal issues I think George Bush is an abject failure.

Barack Obama wants to increase spending and taxes which would be an even greater failure.

The Democrat controlled congress authorizes spending NOT the President.

It's patently nuts to argue Palin
is not qualified when she is running for veep when the Dems. are running a guy who voted *present* over 100 times in the IL legislature and has spent 20 months of his 45 in the US Sen. running for the office, when he has sponsored NO legislation that's actually become law and claims the bills he merely signed onto as personal accomplishments.

When he actually did vote in IL, he twice voted to allow born-alive abortions be abandoned to die without medical care. TWICE HE VOTED THAT WAY, AND THEN HAS HAD THE GALL TO ACCUSE PEOPLE WHO BRING UP HIS ABORTION RECORD AS LIARS. Now, that's real change and hope in politics.

We're in the middle of a war--he knows nothing of the military or any non-continental American place except Hawaii (and what he may remember of Indonesia as a very young child))--altho' he might have learned something about NATO and Afghanistan if he had ever held his own subcommittee meetings, but that was evidently too much to ask of this do-nothing.

We're in a financial crisis and all he think of is raising taxes and punishing successful people by taking their money and giving it to his preferred groups.

He is a nothing period.

Palin has run a town and a state, has an 80% popularity while th O and Biden have a 14% rating in Congress. And that's about the vote they are going to get, because the really hard left in the US is about 12%.

I believe many from both parties are WAY TOO COMFORTABLE once they get to Washington. It shouldn't be a career choice ,status symbol or opportunity to make America pay $$$ for thier pet projects & programs. It should be SERVICE, plain & simple. Loyalty to America should come before loyalty to party (or the GLOBAL COMMUNITY).

It is fine to find conservatives who question Palin's credentials - dialogue is great. My objection is that there are certain media outlets that I will never waste my time on - CNN, MSNBC, New York Times, ABC, NBC, CBS, Public TV, NPR, etc. Why are the Fox News Channel ratings consistently high? It is all about credibility. At least the majority of conservatives support Sarah Palin (for good reasons) and are not wondering, as the Dems are, as to how to replace Biden with Hillary before the election and not look too obvious about it!

renny in NJ
You forgot to mention that Slow Joe pushed to split Iraq into three parts and then pull out to watch the "fun".

Got to admit tho that he has the required "foreign policy gravitas" that Palin lacks. The fact that he has been so wrong so frequently shouldn't matter.

Oh, and The Big O has lots of "foreign policy" experience too. After all, he did his big speechifying tour and got it all in one fell swoop. That's like the Cliff Notes version, I suppose.

True Idiot writes: "Anne said ...

'Sen. McCain and Gov. Palin are drawing larger and larger crowds no matter where they go.'"

So typical of the intellectually limited left... the ONLY thing they excel at is SPINNING and TWISTING.

Or is it that they have NO SHORT TERM MEMORY?

My response that True Idiot quoted was to DCR's foolish and baseless comment that "Palin's support is waning, except for those who share some core values."

And they expect us to take them seriously??? Fat chance!

Yet, I still don't see any liberal stepping up to rationally answer my question, "Exactly what, in that background, makes Marxist Obama qualified to be POTUS or Biden to be VP???

And oh yeah, while you libs are struggling over Ret. Geek's question, the President can't spend a dime without the authorization of Congress.

So while Marxist Obama is whining about McCain voting WITH Pres. Bush 95% of the time, SO DID CONGRESS!... Even Marxist Obama's 9% liberal Congress.

Governor Granholm trying to act as Sarah Palin in Bidens debate rehearsals is the perfect bit of irony since Granholm has never met a tax INCREASE that she didn't instantly fall in love with yet can't bring herself to say the two words that Michigan DESPERATELY NEEDS to hear come out of her mouth, TAX CUTS.

Democrats are saying Palin never left her babies to die in a 'Dirty Linen' closet like Obama has fought so hard for - how can she understand the 'Obama Hope'?

Democrats are saying Palin was never 'Mentored' by 'God Damn America' black racist Jeremiah Wright - how can she understand the plight of the ordinary black American?

Democrats are saying Palin never voted present 129 times - how can she bring the political experience Obama has to the White House?

Democrats are saying Palin doesn't understand the 'Bitter Clingers' like Obama - the typical whites who cling to 'God and Guns'.

Democrats are saying Palin doesn't even have 'Cult Followers like Obama, who believe Obama is the messiah and will heal the world.

Democrats are saying Palin has a husband who has always been proud of America, how can she understand those like Michelle Obama who was never proud of America.

Democrats are saying Palin thinks babies are wonderful how could she understand the 'Baby Mistakes' Obama talks about.

Democrats are saying Palin has worked at real jobs, how could she understand the plight of Obama who has never had a 'real job'.

Democrats are saying Palin might bring real values to America not the phony ones they believe in - Democrats are afraid!

SHE is a follwer of Dennis Kuchinich the one who sees 'alien spacecraft' with Shirley Maclaine.

Dennis Kucinich now supports creating a Department of Peace. "I have a holistic view of the world," he explains. "I see the world as interconnected and interdependent and that leaves no room for war." He is also friends with Shirley MacLaine, who is the godmother of his daughter and attended his third wedding in 2005.

Dennis Kucinich introduced a bill to ban space-based and other exotic weapons, including "radiation, electromagnetic, psychotronic, sonic, laser, or other energies . . . for the purpose of information war, mood management, or mind control of such populations."

"The energy of the stars becomes us. We become the energy of the stars. Stardust and spirit unite and we begin: one with the universe, whole and holy. What were EDWARDS' foreign policy "credentials"????? What executive experience did he possess???? Why didn't MSM challenge his lack of experience ? Because he was a Demo? Because he was a man? Perhaps both?

First, you are in the horns of a dilemma. If what Rev. Wright was justifiable, the why did the O decide to dump him. The O said that the good Rev. was wrong and therefore he was dropped. Now, if you say that the O was not correct in this statement, then he is not the great "change" you have been looking for. If he was correct then you are wrong about what the good Rev. had to say.

Second, because you read something in the UK paper makes it gospel. That doesn't sound like you are the most discerning reader. You are biased and will go to any means to reach your goal - the election of O.

Can't you be intellectual honest?

Eisenhower got us out of the Korean war when he was president. He wasn't president during WWII; he was the Supreme Allied Commander of the European Theater. He ran for president after Truman got us into Korea, which never attacked us, and he got us out. The Korean War was indeed useless.

You repeatedly accuse Obama of planning to redistribute wealth which you view as synonymous with communism, thus making them communists. My question is whether the Bush Administration, which supported the $85,000,000,000 in a massive redistribution of wealth---from us taxpayers to nationalize AIG--does that not make the Bush Administration socialists? Communists?

This is one of the largest redistributions of wealth in human history. The editors of the Daily World have not done this.

Is this communism?

Hey PeachyBush

You cannot and have not shown any capability of being intellectually honest. Every recount from Florida has shown that the actual winner was Bush. I know you don't like this, but that is fact. Uh Impeach: I've seen at least two posts

"Exactly what, in their backgrounds, makes Marxist Obama qualified to be POTUS or Biden to be VP???"

Regardless of YOUR inept view of Gov. Palin, why not concentrate on the (supposed) positive things that Marxist Obama and Stupid Joe Biden bring to the table.

What makes THEM so qualified??? Ummmmm?

The irony, of course, is that the mainstream media in the past have been accused by Conservatives of PROTECTING John McCain while overlooking McCain's shortcomings. Refer to:

"McCAIN'S STRAIGHT LIES." On Feb. 1, 2008 Town Hall's Thomas Sowell wrote: "The passing years and a friendly media have allowed Sen. McCain's shortcomings in the character and integrity department to fade into the background."

"MEDIA DISCOVERS McCAIN'S TEMPER." Conservative Newsmax article, Feb. 19, 2008: "Now that John McCain is the presumptive Republican nominee for president, the mainstream media's honeymoon with the maverick Republican senator may be over.

"One story that has suddenly found favor is on McCain's temper." ,,, "Reporters who cover McCain have long been aware of his sometimes explosive outbursts, but until now, that's been a secret they have kept to themselves."

'VANITY FAIR TIPTOES AROUND McCAIN'S EXPL0SIVE TEMPER", Conservative Newsmax, Jan.11, 2007: "The story in Vanity Fair with Demi Moore on the cover is the first in the mainstream media to raise the question of whether McCain's temper could undercut his bid to become president in 2008.

"But the story never cites the damaging, concrete examples of McCain's explosive temper cited by NewsMax.com stories that ran on July 5 and Aug. 30."

"The question on the minds of many who know him well is not whether McCain spends time on niceties. Instead, the question is whether he has the character and temperament one would expect of anyone being hired for a job ó particularly president of the United States. So far, the mainstream media have not seen fit to let voters make up their own minds."

Hmmmm. I guess than the Bush Administration is not complicit in the bailout. Did Congress appoint the Secretary of the Treasury? Read below. And after reading, the question remains, is the Bush Administration communist according to you?

From ABC's Meet the Press.

WASHINGTON - The federal government stepped in with an emergency bailout of collapsing financial institutions on Wall Street last week because it could not wait for regulatory agencies to sort through the “crisis situation,” Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson said Sunday.

“Financial institutions [were] clogged with illiquid loans,” Paulson said in an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” effectively freezing credit markets and choking off money to keep Wall Street humming.

“This is an urgent matter, and we need to move quickly,” Paulson said in urging Congress to immediately approve the Bush administration’s request for sweeping authority to bypass regulatory agencies and directly take over the bad mortgages and mortgage-backed securities.

"We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives we've set," he said. "We've got to have a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded."
Barack Obama Speech July 2, 2008 Colorado Springs CO

Have any of you Liberals ever heard of someone doing that before? Say about right before the second World War?

Why does Obama need a civilian national security force that's just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded as the military?

All of the other "odd stories" that have ciruclated n the so-called "mainstream media" about Governor Palin over the last three weeks have been discredited as total fabrications (that's "LIES", for intellectually challenged individuals like you, Impeach). And yet, you're still willing to accept garbage like the story you cited as gospel truth.

The stupidity of you Democreeps far outweighs your usefulness!

nmi
Interesting nmi, but a little behind times. If you recall, the liberal media's darling in the PRIMARIES was McCain. That is how they wanted to get who they would consider the best choice on the Republican side. They, however, also had their darling on the liberal side, that being the big O. Now, it is nice to see you can cut and paste but that does not adress the fact that now they have both their choices. Their real overall choice is the Big O and so now they dump McCain. Similar thing as the Big O dumping his grandma and his almost like an uncle, the good Reverend Wright.

Barack Obama wants a larger government, more taxes and the largest increase in spending in the history of the world.

DCR, do you understand me so far?

Barack Obama is running for POTUS.

DCR, do you understand me so far?

Focus on McCain/Palin who wants to reform and Obama/Biden who want to tax and spend.

DCR, do you understand me so far?

Who do you choose? That is the question for you.

Who is Barack Obama?

There is an old Spanish saying.
“Tell me who you walk with, and I will tell you WHO YOU ARE!”

"I chose my friends carefully. The more politically active black students. The foreign students. The Chicanos. The Marxist professors and structural feminists and punk-rock performance poets." - Barack Obama (Dreams of My Father)

Obama the 'Chosen One' chose these friends:

Marxist Professors
Structural Feminists (anti capitalists)
Activist Black Students
Mentor Wright - Black separatist and Mentor.
James Cone - Black Separatist and racist.
Saul Alinsky - Communist 'Community Organizer'.
William Ayers - Radical anarchist.
Fr.Pfleger - Radical religionist and race baiter.
Louis Farrakhan - Radical Islamist and racist.
Tony Rezco - Convicted felon and thief.
Frank Marshall - Communist and Obama Mentor.
Many other 'Radical Leftists'.

Then Obama chooses 1% Joe Biden who had 9,000 votes instead of Hillary who had 18,000,000 votes. Does that show good judgment?

Wonder who Obama would 'Carefully Choose' for the Supreme Court?

Wonder who Obama would 'Carefully Choose' for the Obama Cabinet?

Any American voter should look at some of the chosen associates in the life of a man who is a contender for the position of President of the United States and Commander in Chief of its Armed Forces

James Cone -> Mentor Wright -> Obama

"Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community.
If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him.
The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community. . . .
Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy.
What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal.
Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love."
James Cone
New York's Union Theological Seminary

Mentor Wrights' theology is based on the teachings of James Cone.

"It was because of these newfound understandings (at Trinity under Wright) -- that religious commitment did not require me to suspend critical thinking, disengage from the battle for economic and social justice...that I was finally able to walk down the aisle of Trinity...and be baptized." Barack Obama

Obama knew exactly what his Mentor was teaching.

We should never judge black American citizens by these morons - 2.9 million voted republican in the last election.

Farrakhan - Wright - Obama

Wright and his apologists argue that black racism is simply a product of their culture because of past sufferings. Their racism cannot be understood by those outside their culture and therefore is in accord with what is just.

Wright not only preaches racism he awards racism.
He and his church awarded a life time achievment award to Louis Farrakhan.

Farrakhan is quoted as having said, "The white man is our mortal enemy, and we cannot accept him."

Farrakhan believes "Six-thousand years ago, an evil wizard called Dr. Yacub created the white "race" in a genetic experiment." Whites and blacks do not have the same creator.

Farrakhan boarded a UFO "mother wheel" piloted by 13 youths now orbiting Earth, waiting to destroy the whites and rescue the blacks.

Farrakhan stated that North America will be encapsulated with a "shield" and then the atmosphere will be burned off after the "mother wheel" rescues blacks.

If charged with a crime "such talk" would rule Farrakhan not being competent to stand trial, yet Wright and his congregation applauded and awarded him.

Obama selected Wright as mentor, spiritual guide and sat in his church 23 years.

"It was because of these newfound understandings (at Trinity under Wright) -- that religious commitment did not require me to suspend critical thinking, disengage from the battle for economic and social justice...that I was finally able to walk down the aisle of Trinity...and be baptized." Barack Obama

Obama now says his experience qualifies him for POTUS and has a "vision for change" for America.

The Method in the MSM's Madness
Melfy point out:

"If you recall, the liberal media's darling in the PRIMARIES was McCain. That is how they wanted to get who they would consider the best choice on the Republican side."

A slight clarification is in order here, Melfy.

The media wanted to promote the weakest Republican in the field--the one they felt would be the easiest to defeat in the general election--to win the GOP nomination.

They thought that Senator McCain would be the weakest possible GOP candidate, based on the fact that he had a history of sharp differences with the Republican Party's conservative base.

But in the wake of Senator McCain's choice of Governor Palin as his running mate, it is evident that they miscalculated, big time.

The MSM could have backed the infamous Wrong Paul instead, and they probably would have if he hadn't been such an unelectable moonbat. Supporting him, however, would have made their real objectives that much more transparent.

Retired Geek
So if the candidate you voted for twice--and former hero of the Right--is an "abject failure" on the economy how can I be confident in your judgment this time?

Bringing up what the current President does is very relevant to this race. If Obama's past judgment is relevant, so is mine, yours, McCain's etc.

The question remains. The Bush Administration wishes along with many in Congress to spend over $700,000,000,000 in "bailouts." This is one of the largest financial re-distributions in history. Is the President you voted for in two elections engaged in communist redistribution? That is my question. Can you answer it?

To Retired Geek
You deserve a well-earned break! Schooling liberals can be exhausting.

Great point Rand.
Importantly, even though I believed McCain was not the best choice in the primaries, I do believe that he is the only intelligent choice at the present time.

The Big O is a Big Zero and his VP pick is actually a negative.

Palin brings a freshness and honest which is a hope for true conservatives.

So you think Harry Reid and Nancy represent your views. They can make or break the bailout. Let's see what your heros do. Remember the Big O can vote too.

I believe the biggest problem with American education is the assumption that EVERYONE will go to college. Another BIG problem is schools concentrate on teaching the "no child left behind" exams.

First, everyone is NOT going to college! This results in our drop-out problem. There was a time when schools taught shop, auto mechanics, etc. There was a core curriculum everyone had to master, but they had access to other classes to learn a trade. Because of liability problems, schools had eliminated or curtailed these "skill" courses.

Second, teachers, whose students do poorly on the exit exams, can be fired for incompetence. Therefore, they concentrate on teaching the tests. Students ae required to pass all-parts of the exam at various levels to promote to the next grade or to graduate.

As a final note, we are the ONLY country that does this. Other countries (I am most familiar with Korea) evaluate students from K-3 or 5 grades and then put them on "tracks" according to their abilities and interests (music, athletics, varioous skill professions, etc.). Alltudents are required to be proficient in one or more languages (most opt for English).

Also, when students (in Japan, Korea, etc) graduate from high school, their education is equivalent to 2 years college in this country.

Let's give McCain and Obama a break
On the current financial crisis we should not expect the candidates to come up with answers---they are running campaigns which are not suited for the policy analysis necessary for such a crisis.

Retired Greek on Educatio part deux
I taught English at a community college for four years, and my wife teaches at the local university.

Our observation is a large number of HS grads, even those who were inj "honor" courses, are ill prepared for the rigors of college. Why is this so?

It goes back to the public school system consentrates on teaching the exit exams and feel-good environment. Students no longer are responsible for their educational success/failure.

No Case
DCR scrawls left-handed with his pink crayon on yellow paper:

"Bringing up what the current President does is very relevant to this race."

No, it isn't, DCR, because the current President isn't running for reelection.

John McCain is NOT George W. Bush, and no matter how much you, Barack Obonzo, the Democreeps and the media try to spin it that way, a significant percentage of the electorate just isn't buying it.

Obonzo has been trying to convince people for months that a McCain Presidency would be little more than a "third term" for President Bush. But it's patently obvious from all the recent polling data that he has failed to make that case, and failed miserably.

This proves two things. One, the American electorate is not nearly as gullible as Barack Obonzo and the Democreeps would like them to be. Two, Barack Obonzo is one lousy lawyer.

I wouldn't let Barack Obonzo plead a parking ticket for me!

I dare you to listen to all four parts of Wright's g-damn America sermon that is found at this link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ycWgFCEnprs&feature=related
----

I'll do you one better, Charlie and I listened to Reverend Wrights ENTIRE SERMON in which he made those remarks on the Glenn Beck show on the ride home from work one afternoon.

http://www.glennbeck.com/content/articles/article/198/9150/
The link I have for the audio doesn't work here, so I'm giving a link to the Glenn Beck website where there's a link that takes you to a video of Wrights speech.
Reverend Wright HAS NOT been quoted out of context even once. He said exactly what he's quoted as saying, and most of that "Sermon" was anti-American, Anti-Semitic, and Anti-White.

So what's your point?

DCR
Give Obama and McCain a break or did you run out of Dem talking points? If not for the mainstream media, the citizens would know that Obama and friends are closely tied to the big players, for which we are now paying. Google Raines and Johnson and Obama. Also, Obama was number 2 on the campaign contribution list of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac Invest in Lawmakers from 1989 - 2008.

The proposal of The Big O and Biden to redistribute wealth to the middle class is still communist. Something you haven't addressed.

dave from TX on education
I also taught at one of our major universities (26 years), although not in the English Dept. Mine was the same experience: even with the supposed strict screening of applicants the students admitted are, by and large, not prepared for university-level work. Moreover, most do not have the drive and tenacity to succeed on their own effort but expect the same results as those that do. This is a function of the general state of our society which is moving more and more to being less about equal opportunity but rather equalizing outcomes regardless of effort and ability. People make bad choices in life and then the liberals bail them out, time after time.

DCR
You state that if you had voted for Bush twice you should be held responsible for your judgement.

Then I assume you hold Barrack Obama responsible for his 20 year attachment with Reverend Wright.

You must also hold Obama responsible for his association (very close) with Syrian born Tony Resco.

You must also hold Obama responsible for his working with the voting group Acorn which has been closely linked with voter fraud.

You must alao hold Obama responsible for his relationship with William Ayers.

You must also hold Obama responsible for his relationship between Raines and Johnson and their rape of Fanny and Freddie and being on his economic advisory committee.

You must also hold Obama responsible for his wife's statement about never having been proud of her country before.

You must also hold Obama responsible for personal attack on his opponents, something which he said he wasn't going to do. He was offering "CHANGE"

Right!

Are you intellectually honest?

DCR
I note that you seem to be anti communist with things you say, such as, the AIG bailout.

I assume then that you are opposed to all government entitlements as they are not outlined in our constitution. The government should not be involved with corporate or citizen bailouts.

If you believe this, then how can you be for the Big O or are you biased against one part of our society over the other?

Retired Geek
Can you answer post #171?

Yes, I am anti-communist, but I am not anti-entitlement program---I do not equate the two.

My limited inquiry was to see if Retired Geek considers the current unprecedented redistribution communist.

Who's got the power?

MELFY at 2:15 pm writes: "If you recall, the liberal media's darling in the PRIMARIES was McCain. That is how they wanted to get who they would consider the best choice on the Republican side."

Now I'm confused. Is liberal media so powerful as to determine BOTH the Democratic AND Republican candidates for President of the United States?

Why would any self-respecting Conservative Republican trust, let alone vote for a candidate who owes his success to the liberal media?

And if the liberal media is so influential, where does that leave Fox News?

DCR
What does it matter what retired Geek thinks of the bailout of AIG.

What matters is how you come to the conclusions you come to and the thought process that you use.

Entitlements were never part of our constitution. They were added later to our government with not constitutional basis.

Entitlements basically mean that one cititzen has the right to take away another citizen's property without their consent. That is a communist/socialist viewpoint.

How can you be for entitlements and say you our for the freedoms that our country was based upon?

PEOPLE!!!!
The left is enjoying all this talk about Gov. Palin's "readiness". They keep spouting their idiocy and everyone here keeps biting.
We need to start talking about scumbama's qualifications and forget about Sarah Palin. HE is the one running for POTUS!
Not once have I read a post from any of these trolls wanting to address Frank Marshal Davis, William Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn, Jeremiah Wright, ACORN, Khalid al Mansour, Saul Alinsky, and the list goes on and on and on.
Everyone associated with this guy is either a socialist, a terrorist, or a radical of some kind.
C'mon you leftie trolls, give us some information that will dispute these associations. Tell us of someone, ANYONE, that this guy has as a friend who isn't some kind of radical.
YOU CAN'T because scumbama is a radical leftist, socialist himself and has surrounded himself with these people because he AGREES WITH THEM!

nmi
Yes, I believe that the media is powerful enough to influence and possibly determine the candidates of the parties.

Did you ever hear of the open primary where you can vote in whatever party you so choose?
I know there are numerous cross over votes.

Also, do you think the citizens of the United States are really an informed electorate. I think not. Look at the acceptance speech of the Big O. Seemed more like a huge publicity stunt that an acceptance of a nomination to probably the most powerful office in the world.

If you think all of The Big O's support is because of his lofty intellectual abilities and plans that he has but not outlined in detail then you delude yourself.

Go back to the basics of the founding of our country. Each person should accept personal responsibility and carry the belief that their rights end where someone else's begin.

That is not achieved by government regulation and dictation of what you can and cannot do.
The citizen should have the right to do what he wants with his personal property. Not have it confiscated by the government to do things that the government was constituionally never intended to do. If you believe that the government has more rights than the individual who makes up that government, then you do not believe in the republic in which we live.

Melfy
Am I talking to you? : )

Look, I am interested in Retired Geek's response. We are all interested in one another's responses on the forum--that's why we are here.

So, again, I'm interested in RG's response to post #171. Ok?

To DCR
Why don't you respond to my questions?

Geek can still say what he thinks if he is online, but, why can't you respond to my questions of your thought process?

DCR
It is in your best interest to listen to and respect, as I do, what Retired Geek says!

KILL KILL KILL!!!!!
KILL THE NATIONAL ENDOWMENT FOR THE ARTS!!!!!

(Just thought I'd throw that in to break the monotony)

re: impeachbush
Yeah you're right, that bridge thing is a deal breaker. We'd be much better of putting our fate in the hands of a guy who's personal friends are terrorists.

Nice touch about the kids too. They really should just slaughter all of those spawn, that's what a good liberal would do.

By the way, where did you get the inside scoop on the little druggies?

Refreshing and solid analysis
But it overlooks something both far more profound and simple.
The "Nixon Doctrine" politically was always that GOPers should run only as Conservative as they had to to win the nomination, then lurch back left to the "center" as quickly and far as necessary to win the General.

Why that strategy dominates GOPer politics to this day of the ANTI-Conservative--Mac the Knife, is beyond me in light of this evidence that it not only DIDN'T work for Dick, it SCREWED him!

He should have picked a Southern or Western Conservative not a stinkin Yankee "lib"!

If he HAD American might have been spared the Bay of Pigs, Cuban Missle Crisis, VIETNAM! and THE WELFARE SOCIETY!!!

I say damn Tricky Dick and the Rockieliberal, Gilt Bird Cabin Robber Baron Bosses of the GOP.

And I say God Bless Mack the Knife for having brains and guts when it counted, FINALLY!

No one is ever ready to be president. No matter how educated, trained and ready they think they are,sh!t happens.

If you have a crap for brains congress to work with, you cannot be a good president. If you hire dimwits for your cabinet, you cannot be a good president.

If you are Harvard educated, but cannot speak without a teleprompter, you cannot be a good president. If you don't know what you believe until sub-versives tell you,you cannot be a good president.

If you hate America and have a wife who does, also, you cannot be a good president. If your name is Barack Hussein Obama,I don't want you for my president.

Typing @ the same time
Radar & the Inquirer. Now there are a couple of journalistic giants. So the inquirer on some earlier story gets one right and we're supposed to believe that the Batboy magazine is reliable?

Let's see:

"According to some of Palin's high school buddies. . ."

Would any of these buddies have names?
What buddies would give over info to those that are viciously attacking a friend?

"Says another family friend. . ."

Again, what 'friend' would dish dirt to a sleazy mag, unless it was a lie & pile of crap.

Lastly, is this the best you've got. You're really pathetic. Verifiable Sources, you moron.
Maybe before you start talking about someone else being a liar, you should look in the mirror.

Note on Give em Hell Harry
Harry also came from THE most corrupt Political Machine (and I have this from a Duke Grad student who did the research as a PHD thesis)
in the Country, St.Louis, unless you count the Chicago Machine. I remind you it was a St.Louis precinct that in 2k or 04 had 100% voter turn out, not one person sick, out of town, stuck in traffic, working overtime. 100%--and all voted Dumblocrap/comiqr (see my The Big Mick blog on TH for the etymology of comieqr).

These are the guys who trade votes for sex, crack, and coffin nails, then beech about how a simple ID is a Racist Attack on Black voters.

These are the guys who tried to CAST not count marred illegal ballots ('member the CQ poll worker who got caught with a COUNTING MACHINE in his TRUNK!) while refusing to count those from our Soldiers in Iraq!!!

The only thing WORSE then they are are the RINO GOPers like Lodge who obviously perfered Nixon LOSE!!! We've seen a LOT of that in the GOP here in VA, they actually ran a 3 time loser Coleman, as an Independent to keep a Conservative out of State Office. John Warner was the original Gang 14 BORKER! That's what "Mav"s nomination was ALL about, NO Anti-amnesty Conservative need apply!

Palin has saved his asz, I was voting "none of the above" by write in before her.

re: blanco
Nice piece of work, NOT! I especially like the "our party" bit.

"The rest of the country is shocked and scared that a person with such extreme and unconventional beliefs(creationism, end times)would have access to nuclear weapons."

Since this election started I have been checking out MSM, radio, print & blogs. Some have said they wished she had more experience, ALL HAVE SAID SHE WAS STILL MORE QUALIFIED THAN OBAMA. The ONLY conservative I have heard say anything harsh about Palin was Michael Savage, who talks trash about virtually everybody.

Then There's This Rational Evaluation

I don't think much of his politics but he has never been described as a party hack much less stupid!

The Big Moron
>Harry also came from THE most corrupt Political Machine (and I have this from a Duke Grad student who did the research as a PHD thesis)

Independence is next to Kansas City, on the opposite side of the state as St Louis. You and your friend should knock off the loco weed.

Blank man 5:59
How apropos. Could it be Mac the Knife knew he NEEDED Reagan Conservatives to win? So Palin lost you RINO Moronic Mythical Middle Mods, huh?
Take it up with Ranger 29 aka Robert aka PerBert. He claims to be both a RINO-GOPer and a 4M and a McAin'tiac AND a Palin Guy.

Rubiblanco, one can always count on the Christian haters, be they 4M's Gilt Bird Cabin RINO Rockyfeelers, Pseudolibertinearians, or Tin foil beanie Death to the Neocon conspiracy Flat(ulent) Pat Earther or Paul Potter Isolationistas Antisemites to trot out the dreaded "evangelical" cant.

By the way, something way over 75% of the American people consider themselves to be "Christian" and both the Doctrine of Creation and of The Escathon (sp?) is quite orthodox and mainstream Christian Doctrine.

Where you been, Hari Krishna?

Pancho
The Machine he was hooked up with and the Corrupt Aparatchick who mentored him extended the length and Breadth of Missouri Politics.
You will note "Illinois" was used in Place of Chicago in the column.

Harry the Hat was a corrupt machine pol from the Screw You state. Rebut THAT if you can.

Re: Scared to Death!!!
Look, Ms Palin is the true life real deal!!! She stands for strong family values and pro-life, she seems to have a balenced state budet, and she knows how to spare with the big boys. My question for all you folks out there is, don't you think it is time to start asking some really hard gut twisting questions to Obamarxist? You know the kind everyone is asking the VP of Mr. McCain. COME ON, FAR AND BALENCED!!!

Pancho, PeachyBush!!! hola!
And wasn’t it Blankguy who pointed out Harry the Hat was a US (ie STATEWIDE) Senator?
I notice you didn’t rebut the St. Louis Blue 100% either, Panch. I could easily have misunderstood the Grad’s geography, but the CORRUPTION was unmistakable . The guy was a certified comiqr “lib” himself, and yet the contempt in his voice for the Machine that put in Truman spoke volumes.
By the way, the guy Harry the Hat replaced, Wallace? He had already picked two guys for Sec.Tres. And Sec. State if Red Frankie had croaked earlier. Both of em were code named commie agents on Uncle Joe’s payroll. The KGB Mitrokhin (“The Sword and Shield”) Files confirmed every department of Red Frankie’s Admin. had its own bought and paid for code named mole. If you want to challenge THAT one Panch, I got it off the BBC web site a couple years ago.

Peachy--and how did you feel about 8 years of "I did not have sex with that woman...Monica Lewinski", and "Vast Right Wing Conspiracy" and "we don't know who hired Craig" and "we lost the records" and "I wanted to get Bin Laden" and "I invented the internet" and "what ChiCom Money" and "what law" and "what evidence"? Pathological Liars are as Pathological Liars DO, Peachy to quote the Great Gump--and Commiqrs and Moronic Mythical Middle "Mods" have to lie to themselves first.

mick

To be a good Lib-tard
You have to believe that there was NO art before Gov't. grants. I guess the Renaissance painters all had an NEA program? NO!! TALENTED artists were supported by wealthy patrons who saw their gift and made sure the world would as well. Think Caterina de Medici (who also invented high heels but I digress).

Vice Presidency
Great closing question.

Stickin it to the W-haters last time
I've notice Bush Derangement Syndrome folks fall into several groups whose Venn Diagram shows considerable overlap.
You got your standard dumbolcrap/comieqrs of various Appeasimania and Green is the New Red stripes. You got your Moronic Mythical Middle “Moderate” Socialist Lites. You got your “Death to the NeoCon Conspiracy” Flat(ulent) Earth Isolationist Buchanites and Paul Potters reeking of Antisemitism and Tin Foil Beanies, and you got your Pseudolibertinearian Kiddy Porn and Pot–ers. The really interesting thing is they all hate W, mainly on the WAR which was the ONE Smart thing for the Ages he can be credited with, and also hate with equal passion they Mythical so called “evangelical” or “religious” or “far” “right”. (I also recommend my The Big Mick blog on TH for a cogent deconstruction of the Mythical and disingenuous “left-right” linear political model.)

Funny thing is, that, as near as I can tell and I are one, the Christian Conservatives were never all THAT enamored OF W.

Could it be the above hate groups remembered something the entire country seems to have forgotten–that at W’s inaugural, while he was waiting at the bottom of some steps for a limo, a little man came up to him and handed him something? Nobody seemed to know who the guy was or where he came from. The Press was baffled how he got past the Sec.Serv. They reported the guy had given W a kind of coin with a Military Unit Symbol on it, and told him that if he stayed on track with God, he would be reelected.
I’ve never heard that mentioned again. But could it be the haters hate W for the same reason they hate Christians?

Night.

Night cap on Palin
It's not only been a HOOT!, but fascinating to watch people criticize Palin for "inexperience" in an election cycle DEMANDING CHANGE!! As a cartoonist here on TH pointed out--what's CHANGE about PROMOTING from a Congress with the Worst approval in HISTORY to a WH, whose rating, bad as it is, is still BETTER! Talk about your dumbed down America!
If you want to CHANGE something you DON'T put the SAME guys who have been SCREWING UP IN!!!

Palin's got an 80% APPROVAL rating for actually CHANGING and RUNNING Government. The other 3 have 90% DISAPPROVAL ratings! Can you say "no brainer"? Oh, and you "Palin loses the Middle" Morons should remember Palin has the HIGHEST popularity of the THREE! Explain THAT!
Or are you "experience" guys arguing for those paragons of successful leadership Bob Barr or Ron Paul?

The Big Mick

D
Obama won't tell Biden unless his handlers tell him to. If Biden is not 'in the loop',he won't know jack.

Obama, himself deosn't know until his puppeteer pens it so he can read it on his teleprompter.

This man is not presidential material. He is just a tool to get where his handlers can't get. The White House.

McCain/Palin 2008!!!
The BEST qualified to lead our country out of the near ruin of the Pelosi/Reid-led Congress!

The lack of common sense in the federal government is so obvious that when Governor Palin becomes Vice President, America will indeed become like a shining city on the hill!

I thank you for offering yourself to be placed on the altar of the msm media - they are trying their darndest to destroy you, but so far have NOT succeeded! May the pompous Charles Gibson rot in his own private cubicle in he!! - ABC will never be on in this household again!

Since I've never watched The View, I can only comment on the clips shown "how sexy you are" vs "how dare you" - why anyone would waste one minute viewing such tripe is beyond me!

Sean Hannity showed the world that Sarah Palin can be interviewed in a manner that will allow all to see just what she has going for her - and it is A LOT!

Welcome, Sarah! America needs you now more than ever!! And you are DEFINITELY QUALIFIED!

change
When the talk comes around to "change" Biden puts on a different suit and swaps his lunch pail for a carpet bag.
The next time he tells someone that it is their patriotic duty to pay higher taxes to the slackers, their response should be: How about you being patriotic and taking a cut in wages? This man was born with a silver spoon in his mouth and what he needs is one up...

Where was Sarah Palin??

Re the outpouring of praise and support on Town Hall posts which has greeted the candidacy of Gov. Sarah Palin for both the vice presidency AND the presidency itself.

Question is, eight months ago when Republican presidential wannabes were ripping into each other, where was Sarah Palin? If she's such a potent Republican force today, she surely was just as "electrifying" in January 2008. So why didn't she do battle with her fellow Republicans to be the GOP presidential candidate?

Eight months ago she was just as attractive, just as "eligible," and judging by the enthusiasm Town Hallers have shown, just as "qualified" to be President, than the other candidates -- including John McCain. If not moreso.

So if she is so bright a star, why isn't Sarah Palin at the HEAD of the 2008 Republican ticket ?
