Was the Copenhagen Global Warming Summit Walk-Out a Win for the U.S.?

If John McCain were truly a maverick, he would publicly break from the politically correct culture that demands obedience to its global warming narrative. But sadly, he continues to do the opposite.

Liberals have denominated McCain a maverick because he has taken so many positions contradictory to his party's platform and to the conservative ideology that undergirds it. Now that he is the putative Republican nominee, you don't hear much about his maverick nature, but it's certainly not because he's changed his ways in opposing his party.

Last week, he affirmed his commitment to comprehensive immigration reform, even though earlier he stepped back from it to curry favor with conservatives. One wonders what other shoes will inevitably drop should he win the presidency, especially because he has indicated he would most likely be a one-termer.

Will he revert to his visceral revulsion to the Bush supply-side tax cuts? Many supply-siders, after taking McCain to the woodshed on the issue, assure us he can be trusted on it.

If so, their efforts will redound to the benefit of the economy and nation should McCain win the election. But some of these same supply-side advocates insist we shouldn't expect him to move rightward on too many other issues.

Sorry, but I reject that zero-sum thinking, as should my fellow supply-siders; they certainly do in the realm of tax policy. While I will vote for McCain against either Democratic opponent, I don't believe we should abandon efforts to reform the "reformer" on other issues besides taxes. Are we supposed to declare a moratorium on the expression of our principles for fear it could damage his electability?

If conservatives don't make an effort to hold McCain accountable for his liberal proclivities, then no one will, to the guaranteed detriment of the national interest. In fact, pushing him to the right while we still have a chance will enhance his electability.

Which brings me back to the subject that inspired this column: McCain's regrettable upcoming speech outlining his vision to combat global warming.

In a preview of the speech, CNN reports that McCain will say: "We stand warned by serious and credible scientists across the world that time is short and the dangers are great. The most relevant question now is whether our own government is equal to the challenge."

No, Sen. McCain, the most relevant question is whether political leaders will have the diligence to study this issue and the integrity and courage to stand up to the propaganda of the enviro-bullies. The question is whether you can be a maverick where it counts.

It is not Earth's ecosystem that hangs in the balance, but America's future. Those whose vision isn't blurred by green-colored glasses and the temptation to win accolades from the leftist-dominated culture can see that the global push to "save the planet" is more about destroying capitalism, private property and Western culture than sound, science-based environmental stewardship. Never mind the staggering contradiction that free market economies produce cleaner environs.

Indeed, I hate to break it to some of my fellow evangelical Christians who are falling into the trap along with McCain, but the global warming proselytes don't share your worldview. Do you realize you are jumping in bed with those who are promoting a pantheistic deification of the environment and a diminution of the dignity of human beings created in God's image?

Contrary to the mandated script from the warming zealots, there is plenty of credible dissent in the scientific community about global warming, particularly man's role in it. Much of this dissent comes from scientists in fields related to weather studies. Imagine that.

The fact that the enviro-church fathers have "outlawed" dissenting opinion and slander those offering it tells us something fishy is afoot.

And for you McCain supporters who think the only issues that matter are the war and taxes, not to mention abortion and immigration -- all of which are incalculably important -- I urge you not to underestimate the gravity of the global warming issue and the potentially devastating consequences of rolling over on it.

If Republicans also acquiesce to this false religion and its required "good works," we are headed toward a path of economic and societal destruction in the name of saving the planet.

It's time for Newt Gingrich to get off that couch with Nancy Pelosi and for John McCain to jump off this insidious global warming train that might as well be armed with enemy bombs and aimed at the heart of this nation and its economy.

Be A Maverick! No Votes For McCain!

McCain-Kennedy, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Leiberman. Leadership like this I can do without.

Carbon taxes, constitutional rights for Gitmo detainees and amnesty for illegal aliens await us no matter who wins, yippee!!!

I will not participate in the dissolution of my country.

You're in trouble, Virginia Patriot!
Don't you know that Townhall's #1 George Soros plant, "Robert", has dibs on the first comment slot for Limbaugh columns?

He's got to get in his juvenile "ditto ditto ottid" before others post.

You have unbalanced the Universe.

Ha, ha, ha....

Tsk, tsk, tsk, Robert
Only 3rd place this time.

Your "boss" will wonder if you've been sleeping "on the clock"...

Well, David Limbaugh, you forgot
the OTHER "conservative" who's bought into this nonsense: Gingrich, sitting there next to Nancy Pelosi on national TV ads, claiming that "climate change" is now a "conservative issue".

I'm rapidly reaching the conclusion that, like the apocryphal quote from Vietnam that "we had to burn the village in order to save it", the GOP/RNC needs to be ripped right down to its roots and rebuilt almost from scratch.

And I see Roberto the TH
Resident Village Idiot and Coward is here.

So... Roberto.

Answer two quick questions to have your credibility restored:

When was your "article" in the USNI's "Proceedings" published? Month and year will do, as I have their archive link handy.

After a year of claiming to be a US Navy Captain, why aren't you claiming anymore to be one?

Your audience breathlessly awaits.

Brilliant!
Free market solutions to a non-existent problem. Besides, what harm could it do, asks McCain.

Um, what about weakening our economy at precisely the wrong time, as we teeter on the brink of a recession?

Would one of these so-called journalists please ask McCain to cite the new scientific evidence that supposedly changed his mind and that he finds "overwhelming?" Could he be referring to the fact that the planet has not warmed much at all in the last decade? No, probably not THAT evidence. It must be those videos of ice shelves breaking off and cute polar bears floating on small patches of ice. You know, the fake ones, like the ones Al Gore used in his "documentary."

Has anyone else heard about other planets in our solar system warming? Or that the most likely explanation for all of them warming at the same time is natural fluctuations in solar activity?

Am I the only person left who is aware that water vapor accounts for approximately 90% of the greenhouse effect? The other 10% is contributed by CO2 and other gases (mostly other).

Is anyone else aware that historical trends show that warming periods PRECEDE increases in CO2 levels? As the oceans warm, they release CO2, just as your soda releases its gas when it warms. Al Gore's chart correctly identified the correlation but he confused the direction of the causation.

I'll now turn over the floor to the bullies who will assert over and over (and louder and louder, and angrier and angrier) that AGW is true, even though they can never present the conclusive proof they claim to have.

Global Warming is indeed a fact
However, so is Global Cooling. And at the minute we're in a cooling cycle as the core temperature of the earth hasn't warmed at all in the last ten years. In fact it has gone down.

Then there's the sticky little detail that WE, the human race, have absolutely NO, None, Zip, Zero, Nada, ability to affect the warming, or the cooling of the earth.

THAT is why the GloBULL warming crowd doesn't want any debate, or other opinions, made known on the subject.

David is completely correct when he stated that the whole thing is just a thinly disguised attack on Capitalism and the free market system.

Five stars David.

BrianR
It's the "Neo-GOP" now.

AGW is the grandest hoax I've witnessed in my lifetime, bar none. With "Bush lied, people died" a very close 2nd.

BrianR
Limbaugh did mention Gingrich in the last paragraph.

"It's time for Newt Gingrich to get off that couch with Nancy Pelosi and for John McCain to jump off this insidious global warming train that might as well be armed with enemy bombs and aimed at the heart of this nation and its economy."

I find myself in agreement
With some of what almost all of the other posters had to say. The one I can't agree with in any way is poster #3, as he is nowhere near the topic of the thread.

But that's to be expected from him.

BTW #3, in what pattern do the planets orbit the sun? Or are you saying that the planets remain stationary and the sun revolves around them?

Yeah, Lestat, you're right
By the time I reached that point, I was already boiling, and he hadn't carried the theme to what I considered was its logical conclusion.

Hey, RToberto, you cretin
There are two questions pending to you:

The date of the publication of your "Proceedings" article;

And why are you not claiming to be a US Navy Captain anymore, after a year of doing so?

I heard DHS got on your sorry butt and threatened you with prosecution for Impersonating A Military Officer.

Waiting for your response there, El Stupido. Until you address those issues, don't bother opening your bloviating yap on anything else.

C'mon, Mr. Fake Navy Captain
Let's hear it.

Either that, or climb back under your dung pile, you maggot.

As usual, Poster #3 couldn't
Resist the urge to become childish and make personal attacks on one poster who said nothing to him at all, and another who merely asked him a couple questions.
Also as usual, in his rush to show how childish he is, Poster #3 totally side-stepped the questions asked.

BRAVO #3, you never fail to make us laugh with your childish antics. Good Show.

Maverick my A** !
David is correct in his assesment of McCain. To use the quick title, McCain is a RINO. I would not be the least bit surprised if the night of the inaguration McCain declares himself a Democrat and stuffs the cabinet with hard left loonies!

Tap tap tap
That's the sound of my toe, as I await the answers to my questions.

From what I heard
Of McCain's speech today, I'd say that he's trying very hard to further alienate the Conservative base of the Republican party.
And guess what, it's working.

If he keeps up this GloBULL warming crap he might as well pick a VP Candidate and step down from the race as he'll never get the votes to beat the local dog catcher, let alone Hillary or Empty Suit Obama.

Are you also illiterate, El Stupido?
Nothing you say here has any meaning to anyone until you answer the questions, will I will restate for the ebenfit of your obviously limited attention span:

What was the date and/or issue of the USNI "Proceedings" in which your claimed "article" was published?

Why, after about a year of doing so, are you no longer claiming to be a US Navy Captain?

Both VERY simple questions to answer, El Dumbo. So let's hear it.

BTW, Cretin Roberto
If you're not going to answer the questions, I don't think anyone here is going to give a flying fig about anything else you have to say. Not that anyone does anyway.

So you may as well go home, inflate Mrs. Roberto, and have a good time.

You make a lot of excellent points
Lestat. You also Neil Con, and Western Patriot.

Not only is water vapor the major factor in producing "Greenhouse gases," but one of the other major factors that the AGW crowd tries hard to ignore or discredit is the fact that the "Ozone hole" is caused and controlled by the huge lightbulb/furnace that sits about 93 Million miles from earth.

WP, I too would like to know how "Poster #3"(I love that) thinks the planets orbit the sun, or if, as you ask, does the sun orbit the planets?
But like you've observed, poster #3 is dodging serious questions.

Primus, I seriously doubt that Virginia Patriot will lose much sleep over what you told him. I know I wouldn't.
BrianR, don't waste your time on "poster #3."

Lastly, Neil Con, first, I get the point of your screen name, and I love it. Second, you couldn't be more right about how McCain is hurting himself and his chances for November by jumping on the BS AGW bandwagon.

McCain Has No Clue
McCain likes to imitate Leftists by being the 'smartest guy in the room'. He is now pontificating to those of us 'not in touch with reality' that global warming is a serious threat to the USA.

With the recent flap in NC and now this, I am left puzzled why he insults those that potentially will vote for him. He apparently does not want the conservative vote and is going out of his way to alienate them.

Just look at the golden goose McCain has been offered by having Clinton and Obama still going after each other and how he doesn't know what to do with it. In fact, he does the exact opposite of what he should do. He attacks his own people!

Nah, Marine's Dad
I don't consider it a waste of time.

It's like squirrel hunting. Lots of fun, you get to use a gun (in this case, my wits), and in the end, a dead varmint on the ground.

How's the young'un? Good, I hope. Tell him I said "hi".

PS...
Plus, it's the only way to get him out of here.

Otherwise, he just hangs around and stinks up the place.

Well, I see Robert finally made
His usual weekly childish comment to "Little Limbaugh" then ran away like the coward he is.

I just have one thing to say to you Robert since I have no doubt you're still out there lurking.

There is no possible way in the world for someone with your thoroughly demonstrated lack of intelligence to comprehend how very little I care about what you think, or have to say.

So do us both a favor and don't bother to reply to my posts unless they're specifically directed to you. Which won't happen.
You're only wasting your time, and everyone else's bandwidth.

BrianR
Hey! Go easy on the garlic ;-)

The Global Warming Hoax
I heard his speech today on global warming and felt like throwing up.

That speech could of been made my Algore himself. It was pathetic.

I really think McCain is just plain stupid!

Heaven help us...we're doomed!

McCain is driving his supporters away
The man is apparently oblivious to the fact that he is killing his chances of winning in November.

Does he have some sort of 'candidacy death wish' or what?

I'm not hearing the phrase "the lesser of two evils" so much anymore as more and more people vacate the Republican Party to search for higher ground. Even stranger than McCain's lemming behavior is the fact many leaders of Republicanism can't figure out why this is happening. They've blamed the Evangelicals, Huckabee, and Conservatives for being stubborn, but none of the shoes fit. Why can't they see McCain is only going out of his way to attract liberal and Democratic voters? The only possible thing that he has done that can be construed as courting Conservatives is to make high and mighty sounding speeches that lack any resemblance to current issues.

You can substitute a carrot with a potato and expect people with common sense to not understand that you've substituted a carrot with a potato.

David
How can you say we need to hold him accountable in one breath and say you are voting for him in the next breath?

I'll hold him accountable all right. I'll be voting for a third party candidate.

Marines Dad,
"David is completely correct when he stated that the whole thing is just a thinly disguised attack on Capitalism and the free market system."

Thinly disguised is right. Actually, I see it as more of an outright thug mafia shakedown for money/power.

Judi,
"Even stranger than McCain's lemming behavior is the fact many leaders of Republicanism can't figure out why this is happening."

Yet they continue to tell conservatives and Republicans that McCain is the real deal...and Townhall RINOgram columns come out week after week. Today Sean Hannity was telling a caller how McCain should be voted for based upon how different his ideas are from Obama. I find that each day the line between the two blurs more and more.

not ashamed to be right
We agree totally. I also disagree with people who say that they will stay at home and not vote at all. That was done in the 06 election and the party bosses did not get the message.

A vote for a 3rd party sends a clear message.

McCain keeps proving
how clueless he really is.

I keep saying, we have no good choices in 2008. Whichever of the jokers gets in, America is going to be hurt.

Better to focus on Congressional races and prevent the liberals from grabbing more power. Lick our wounds and run a true onservative in 2012.

Glacier National Park
While one might argue about the causes of global warming, there is simply too much evidence of its reality. There is substantially no debate among scientists not bought and paid for by the energy industry.

Consider Glacier National Park-- if you go back just a few decades, glaciers which had existed for many thousands of years were prominent-- now they are gone. Polar ice is melting so fast that polar bears will soon become extinct in the wild.

Since we will run out of oil in a few decades regardless of whatever new oil we recover, does it not make compelling sense to proceed immediately to stress renewable alternatives and better energy conservation (especially MPG)? we will need petroleum instead to produce food. This biofuel boondoggle charade needs to cease. Some will bray against tree huggers, but then some also shrugged off dead lakes and rivers and acid rain. i am a card-carrying conservative-- I would like to see some REAL vision and conservation.

Pristine environments
While we may be enjoying our pristine ANWR we also will be sitting in our unheated homes or those less fortunate possibly living out of our unfueled vehicles.

The Sahara
Heard a report about the deserfication of the Sahara. seems 5500 years ago this was lush green environment, then within a few decades or several human generations the place went all sandy. Possible cause is thought to be solar activity....what? Surely it must be global warming! The sun making the environment change in a relatively short period of time...surely a joke?

McCain

I can not vote for McCain! This will be the first election since I was old enough to vote in my 66 years that I will not waste my time to vote.

load-in-britches
Congratulations; everything in your post is a lie. You have finally reached the ultimate aim for liberal eco-idiots, everything you utter or print is a lie, including your name.

GREAT MINDS
think alike.

David, indeed, all concerned, check out the Anti-Liberal Zone (click on my name) and then BOOKMARK IT, for an excoriation of dhimmicrat-lite John McShamnesty. I actually go a little further in-depth as to his betrayal of all things conservatives.

Roasting RINOs and Liberals with equal vigor.

GOOD POST!

I suggest Fred Thompson and Duncan Hunter as a write-in. Stick to your Conservative guns brother.

McCain
Things have gotten so bad, I find myself wishing a third Bush term were possible.

Mars
Will someone ask this 'bottom of the class' brain, Mr McCain....What is causing the warming on Mars........see
http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2007/02/070228-mars -warming.html

ugh!
Everytime I see a supposed conservative say we need to do something to stop GW, I just cringe. Spare me, is all I can say.

BrianR
GREAT post at 1249AM. D*MN the RINOs and their enablers. Climate change is pure bulldung yet the right is buying into it just for the sake of votes.

Time for the American Conservative Party to arise.

Where liberals fear to tread.

Good morning
Got three new posts to my blog so far this week. Stop by the Abbey and check them out.

Libs are invited as well, they might learn something about what it really means to be an American.

"Will someone ask this 'bottom of the class' brain, Mr McCain....What is causing the warming on Mars........see."

Well said. Funny how McVanity could graduate at the bottom of his class yet get command of a squadron AHEAD of his peers who graduated AHEAD of him. I guess having two admirals in the family helped. Like Libs playing the race card, McShamnesty played the "daddy is an admiral card." Pathetic.

LIBERALS!
Remember, tonight is Support Obambi in WVa Night. To show support for Obambi, please, drive with your lights OFF!

Conservatives AGAINST Obambi, please, drive with your lights ON!

McShame's Cap-And-Trade Plan
I am limited to two gallons of carbon but I need only one. I sell one gallon to someone and get paid for it. Together we use two gallons and have saved the planet. Open borders, "free" trade, more education money, one year hiatus on earmarks, a third version of amnesty, etc. With McShame, it will get better -- today or tomorrow, or whenever he opens his political mouth.

Pretty much done it
for me. So very, very painful to open the door for the likes of Obama, who, in my opinion will rival Carter in ineptitude, but McCain's acknowledgement of AGW is the straw. God, how frustrating that the current crop of elected doofuses (doofi?) in DC is the best we can do.

I'm really ticked that we conservatives let the media and republican party powerbrokers chase some pretty good people out of the nominating process with hardly a whimper of protest. Tancredo, Hunter, Thompson all had their faults but, at least, they appeared to care about what we think.

How sad the next four years is going to be for our country.

Conservatives should be conservationists
Giving the environmental issues to the Dems and Liberals is nuts. The GOP is losing the young primarily over this issue. There is some global warming and a portion of it is manmade. The question is whether Al Gore is right and it will mean the end of civilization if we do nothing...

It is always wise to bet against Al Gore.

We are supposed to be the party of objectivity and sober reality. Is a cap and trade proposal that could cost trillions the best way to protect the environment? Michael Crichton and Bjorn Lomborg have warned there are other more serious environmental threats that deserve our attention before global warming.

GunnyG
I hear you, and I agree with your assessment of McCain as a RINO.

I am not looking forward to this election at all; it's like being between the proverbial rock and hard place.

It seems like no matter what we do, we lose.

If McCain gets the presidency, we get a liberal who will try to enact liberal policies. We will have to work through Congress and the various special interest groups that promote conservative ideas and goals to keep Johhny boy in check.

If either Hillary or Obama gets the presidency, we are in worse shape, and we will have to fight even harder to keep those loons in check.

The problem I struggle with is this: If I simply not vote to show my distaste for McCain, then I am helping Hellary or Obamamama to win.

I thought for a while about the whole idea of a write-in, but here we must use caution against promoting that idea, for too many states either don't accept write-ins, or totally ignore them.

For the life of me, this is the first election where I truly do not know what I am going to do come November. NO matter what happens, I think the next four years are going to be a sorry state of affairs, politically speaking.

God help us all!

white knight #44
Be sure to vote in the Congressional elections. With a Dumocrat or Dumocrat-Lite as POTUS, the Cogressional races become very important.

Joe
EXACTLY. The fact that the libs, the UN, and Saint Goreacle buy into this bullsqueeze should send alarm bells through our ranks. Sadly, Senator McVanity is more interested in getting his mug on the tube than in espousing conservative values.

McShamnesty ain't worth voting for. The GOP needs to have the lesson hammered home that we're TIRED of RINOism.

Curtal Friar
I myself refuse to vote for another RINO. If McShamnesty brings down America, I don't want to have any culpability in it. He sucks and even more so since he has drunk from the Soros well of money for his "Reform Institute."

I would rather see a lib screwing up America, so that the sheeple can SEE w/o a shadow of a doubt, just how bad liberalism sucks.

Gray Ghost
It'll be straight R for me in the Cong/Senate elections. Thank God we have a strong Conservative in my district.

GunnyG writes:

-----

Amen....

GunnyG
I second Primus54's Amen.

GunnyG
I hear you.

One hope I think we may have is if we really make a concerted effort to get a strong conservative voice in Congress. If we accomplish that, then we can keep whatever loon gets the presidency in check.

Primus54
Thanks brother. Heard on the radio yesterday (WMAL) on just how much trouble McVanity is having attracting the conservative base yet the drones on the GOP can't figure it out. I PRAY that they crushed in 08. It's the only way they'll learn. Like a kid after a spanking...

GunnyG
There are some smaller parties that have never gotten enough votes to get on the ballot yet, that are strongly conservative.

Maybe it's time for conservatives to vote one of those parties into power. It's too late to have even a hope of a prayer to do that with the presidency, but if conservatives across the nation elect lesser known, real conservatives to Congress, that would send a strong message as well.

To build on what you have been saying this morning, maybe it's time to give the Republican party the boot, period, and put something else in its place.

Curtal Friar
I'd like to hear about a few of them. Worth checking into for the alternative factor. As long as Ron Pault ain't one of them! He's a walking kook farm.

Gore for Pres
I heard that Gore said last weeks Cyclone is worse (i guess more powerful) because of Global Warming. So if he is correct and we do everything he says after a few yrs (or however long)and we cut down on global warming (if it indeed exists. Then the weather will change. All of this because of Al Gore.
In other words I will vote for the only person in the history of the world that claimed he could change the weather. By the way Al, its May 13 and i'm sitting in Mass wearing a sweatshirt and I'm freezing.

GunnyG
LOL!

No, no worries. No way in hell would I support the old Paulster.

He's a freak if ever I saw one. The last thing I want to see is a 9/11 Truther in office.

De-fund the RNC
We need to take this party back through a grassroots movement. It's easy:

1. De-fund the RNC.

2. Tell the RNC what you have done.

3. Send your donations to conservatives running for the House and Senate.

If there was some kind of organization who could identify true conservatives who are in need of financial help this election, we could put enough people in place to at least hold the line against whichever liberal happens to be elected this year.

Don't get me wrong. I will hold my nose and vote for McCain because he is better than the alternatives. Sometimes that is as good as it gets. In the meantime, let's take the party back through the power of our financial support---giving to conservative candidates regardless as to where they are running, but withholding financial support from the national body.

Lestat, you are wrong.
Water vapor accounts for 95% of CO2 emissions, not 90%. But redeem yourself. Of the 5% remaining, how much is generated by cow farts?

Carts, Horses, and backwards
Water vapor accounts for 95% of CO2?????

I believe waht you mean is that water vapor accounts for 95% of the greenhouse effect, not CO2 emmisions.

Follow the "green"
"Those whose vision isn't blurred by green-colored glasses and the temptation to win accolades from the leftist-dominated culture can see that the global push to "save the planet" is more about destroying capitalism, private property and Western culture than sound, science-based environmental stewardship."

The real "green" behind all this is the kind that folds up and slips in wallets. The kind generated for big-government by big-taxation. The kind pocketed by Al Gore for an ill-won Nobel prize and a glossy faux documentary. The kind all of us have to pony up for retooling industries forced to be enviro-conscious. It's like they say, "Follow the money." That's all the green Congress really needs to know about.

jOHN Mc Ain't !
[Has} anyone else noticed that John Mc Ain't is running as hard as he can against the once great Conservative Ronald Reagan movement Winning by two landslides . The Largest vote differences ever .
I'm feeling like that 92 % of blacks that keep voting for Liberals as their Communities slowly get far worse ..... Liberals take the Black vote fore-granted and so called sissy RePlublicans are taking our Conservatives votes fore-granted as well .
Where 31 % of his possible voters are solidly based . John Mc Ain't is running as a ''Centrist " with leftist lending . I don't get it ? Help me .. Somebody .. Ok Anybody .
We real conservatives have many other LAGER QUESTIONS like
Mc Ain't wants to close the Terrorist prisons and try them here in our own courts ? Mc Ain't and and far lefty Ted Kennedy sponsored a bill Nationalizing 12-20 illegals they tried to sneak though Congress that Bush would have signed .Even thought Mc Aint's home State of Arizona has been broken economically over Illegals and the thousands of illegal Crimes .
Mc Ain't says No " Harassment " what so ever of a known terrorist that knows ''possibly " where WMD's are at or Nuke weapons about to go off ..... because of the Geneva convention he say's we must abide bye .Mr McAin't , Al Quada ''ain't ''a member and want join or play bye any of the Geneva convention rules . Either did Japan and we see how they treated Prisoners .
One suspects this is a sad rerun of Centrist presidential (50 % Liberal )candidates like Nelson Rockafellow ,Bush 41 a second time , Robert Dole and Jerald Ford all rolled into one .
We see how that turned out for " The RePublican" reported missing in action Party .

PS- Voting for McAin't will be even harder than hugging my ex Mother in law and Voting for her as President .
Of course Voting for Oboma would be like hugging Hillary which would be far worse .(grin)

I'm like you - I'm voting for Obama so the American people can experience what it's like o have a liberal in charge. However, I will vote for every Republican possible in Congress.

Ken
Wobbie wrote an article?

He musta used A LOT of crayons!

Bob Barr is a real conservative
With his announcement, we have a choice. He is very experienced and holds conservative ideals.

Primus
Not mentioning names, but do you notice some people live total fantasy lives? Like Owlgore thinks he created the Internet and was the basis of Love Story, and others genuinely believe that 1) they are high-ranking military officers, 2) they have written important and influential papers, and 3) that their input is taken seriously on web sites, when really it is like a mosquito buzzing in your ear - harmless, but annoying.

Really, Robert?
So where did all your posts go from last night?

You really are a noodge.

GunnyG asks:
"Wobbie wrote an article?"
-----

Oh yes, Guns. Didn't you know?

Of course, in true fraudulent and Walter Mitty fashion, our resident coward has NEVER posted a link to back up his claim.

Of course, in his quirky mind - he thinks it is up to us to "disprove" his claim.

Here - let me try that:

In a top secret mission, I was the first human being to walk on the surface of the moon.

Now, prove me wrong!

GunnyG
Try again; I keep getting the dreaded “page not found” and the post disappears.

They are just repeating what the eco-idiots who sued aft3er court shopping were saying. The court ruled that the government has to “show cause” why CO2 was not a pollutant. I doubt if RINO Bush fights it and I know McLame will not fight it. We are doomed unless the Republican Party holds an open convention and undoes the travesty of a primary.

AZPhil

I'm sure you've noticed that "Fraud" Robert has absolutely refused to answer a simple yes or no question about his military status?

He knows his posts are being monitored - and he doesn't want to go to jail.

But the truth would destroy his pride - and to a phony like him - NOTHING is more important!

Gunny & Primus: Re the article???

He's having trouble scanning it because it's written on that school paper with lines two inches apart... you know.. the kind of paper with wood chips still in it...

Doesn't scan well... Chances are, we'll never see it.....

Kind of like that report... HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

Derail McCain
"If conservatives don't make an effort to hold McCain accountable for his liberal proclivities, then no one will, to the guaranteed detriment of the national interest."
No one holds McCain accountable, he is without principle.
Sadly he is another pandering politician as evidenced by his actions for many years now.
He is willing to bring down the country to go down in history as POTUS. Obama is probably unelectable. The only hope for the US now is if his train derails and a conservative with character replaces him.

Anne & GunnyG
Looks like our boy got lost - or maybe is having some more "log-in" problems.

Not like him to leave us without saying "latter/later".

Ha, ha, ha....

David, get your GW message to J. M.
I suggest you draft a letter addressed to John McCain in which you have scientists express their concerns over having future policies founded on faulty science.

Now that many new cold records have been established, it is clear that one or more factors vastly more powerful than CO2 are affecting change in weather. One such factor, apparently, is the cloud-forming effect of variable high-energy cosmic rays on water vapor of the troposphere.

Cordially,
Norman Stockdale

AZPhil
Exactly.

What'll be even better for us is when the bitter old geezers are gone.

Primus
Yes, I've noticed that your observatuons are true much more often than not.

Oh, by the way, I used to be the middleweight boxing champion of the world.

Now, prove me wrong!

Clueless
Once again, John McCain is clueless on something because he goes with a "Consensus" opinion rather than his own research. There are hard facts, then there is thr rhetoric of the left. Anyone who does the slightest bit of research on the subjects of "Man Made Global Warming" or feeding the hungry, or free medical care for everyone knows that the facts argue against them at every turn. Yet, Our media anointed candidate has not, and presumably will not educate himself on any of them.
Like the border issue, the informed public has to revolt each time legislation comes up that defies logic based on reality vice consensus. Apparently, that is now our charge, as it does not appear that our leader needs to be realistic to be elected.
The scariest thing is that the Republican candidate is by far the most realistic of all candidates. The rest are lost in rhetoric, with no hope of seeing the truth!

Bye, Robert

Have fun in Seat 34E!

Think your posts will still be here when you return?

Robert Scribles
You are so funny. I put your post on the ready room board under "crazies".

Right there with your name.

Primus, GunnyG, et al,: I wonder how Robert is going to explain his violation of five Articles in the UCMJ when his "article" comes out.

Hmmmm.................... the
nutjob's back again, Mr. Fake Navy Captain.

Okay, Roberto, again the two questions:

When was your "article" published in USNI's "Proceedings" publication, date and/or issue?

Why, after a year of doing so, are you no longer claiming to be a US Navy Captain?

I heard it was because you were threatened with prosecution for Impersonating A Military Officer.

C'mon, schmuck, answer the two simple questions.

Gunny
I look at this election as being from the following choices:

1) A guy who is a liberal, says he's a liberal, and in the minds of the American people, is associated with Democrats.

2) A guy who is a liberal, won't say he's a liberal, and in the minds of the American people, is associated with Republicans.

So, given those two choices and my opinion that either of them will screw things up badly, I'd rather have Option 1. PLUS if he wins, HDR can't run in 2012.

Primus: Is wobbie going someplace???

Forever maybe???

Wobbie
Did you really use a Fleet Enema to flush out your head gear?

In Texas, Robert, Texas ?
I thought Boeings 787 dreamliner program was H.Q.ed in Seattle?

You're right about one thing this new th format could be a good thing.

Primus
"Have fun in Seat 34E!

Think your posts will still be here when you return?"

I've flagged people before and notice that sometimes it works; sometimes not. Is one way more effective than others?

What Are We Going To Do?
Every time I resign myself to voting for this liberal knucklehead he makes a speech and I fall back into a state of fear and depression. Depression is appropriate because thats what this maverick's response to the Global Warming Hoax will cause our nation to endure. This jerk will nationalize our economy to respond to a phenomena which is not occurring. NASA has released a report chronicling a drop in Global temperatures since 1998.Does McLame have some other data? Of course not,Global Warming is a leftist lie to justify nationalizing the economy. Somehow Socialist countries like China never seem to come in for any criticism as they build hundreds of coal-fired power plants and add to their fleet of non-catalytic converter equipped cars. Only bad old AmeriKKKa has to fix the weather by accepting the ideology of poverty and repression. Its hopeless.

Superiority Complex
I wouldn't worry about Robert. He claims that even at age 5 he never lost. His dad felt the need to tell his first grade teacher. I have the quote from the horses mouth on my laptop, but I just about fell over laughing.

GunnyG-BrianR-Anne-Lolo-Primus-CFriar
and Many Others!

Good Morning All!

WOW! It looks like Robert’s Goose is COOKED! What a Gutless Coward!

I’ll vote for Hal Drunkahue before I’ll vote for McAmnesty McMidget.

ONE MORE TIME, I’ll ask this question and I DARE ANY HALF-WIT, DRUG ADDLED, LEFTOVER HIPPIE to answer it. IF a HIGHLY TRAINED Meteorologist CANNOT predict The Weather ACCURATELY 3-4 days ahead. HOW IS IT that Al Bore, Ted Turncoat, etc CAN PREDICT THE WEATHER ACCURATELY 3-4 DECADES AHEAD?!?!?!

BTW, I have landed my Invisible, Double Top Secret Probation, F15 on submarines THOUSANDS of times, PROVE ME WRONG ;)!

We're sunk!
Between all this global warming b.s. and the liberals we have to chose from, we are sunk!

LOL, Georgetwin!
Always good to see you, bro.

I'm duly impressed with your flying skills, too.

for Lestat
Lestat writes: "Am I the only person left who is aware that water vapor accounts for approximately 90% of the greenhouse effect? The other 10% is contributed by CO2 and other gases (mostly other)."

What are your scientific credentials? What subject did you get your Ph.D. in?

I'm not interested in non-scientists, especially political activists, passing judgment on scientific theories.

We see far too much of this:

Conservatives insisting that Darwin's theory of evolution "must be" false, despite the thousands of scientists who say it's true.

Conservatives insisting that human-caused global warming "must be" false, despite the thousands of scientists who say it's true.

Cherry-picking results by a few experts (out of many more) to support preconceived political notions.

Are these conservatives any better than left-wingers who claim they know more about counterinsurgency warfare than General Petraeus?

SHEMP, LARRY & MOECAIN
PLEASE! PLEASE! EVERYONE. VOTE FOR BOB BARR. HE'S THE ONLY CONSERVATIVE RUNNING. REMEMBER, HE TRIED HIS BEST TO GET SLICK WILLIN IN THE IMPEACHMENT PROCESS, BUT ENOUGH RINO'S WOULDN'T VOTE FOR CONVICTION. HE CALLED THE CLINTON'S "SCUM BAGS," AND THE DRIVE BY'S CONDEMNED HIM FOR TELLING THE TRUTH. PLEASW WAKE UP. OUR ONLY HOPE IS BOB BARR.

The hubris of AGW
10,000 years ago -- a blink in geological time -- the Los Angeles area was under a thick sheet of permanent ice, and wooly mammoths and sabre-toothed cats were part of the local fauna.

Greenland was actually "green" when discovered and named by the Norse.

The Sahara used to be a verdant savannah.

The sun is currently going through a period of increased solar and sunspot activity, and the solar winds are at a recent peak.

Mars is going through a warming cycle.

The climate cycles ALL THE TIME, and through what we mere humans consider pretty radical arcs.

The current era is actually considered a rare period of relative stability, but even under that assessment, swings of a few degrees back and forth are considered absolutely normal.

The whole concept of AGW is patently absurd. Further, it's sheer hubris for mankind to consider itself the source of naturally-occurring phenomena.

Hillary over Mcain or Obama
She's got more bollocks than either one of them.

SteveL
Reputable scientists question the AGW theory all the time. They are not given much press by the MSM, or when they are allowed to speak, they are dismissed as "shills" for Big Oil (profit margin: 10%).

Owlgore has it exactly wrong anyway. If 5000 scientists say there's no such thing as gravity, and Isaac Netwon says there is, he is still right. But Owlgore demonstrated his propensity for science in college.

Check this out:

U.N. Forecasters: Global Temperatures to Decrease
Friday, April 04, 2008
Average global temperatures in 2008 are forecast to be lower than in previous years, thanks to the cooling effect of the ocean current in the Pacific, U.N. meteorologists say.
The World Meteorological Organisation's secretary-general, Michel Jarraud, said it was likely that La Nina, an abnormal cooling of sea surface temperatures in the Pacific Ocean, would continue into the summer.
If the forecast holds true, global temperatures will not have risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory.
A small number of scientists doubt whether this means global warming has peaked and the Earth has proved more resilient to greenhouse gases than predicted, but Jarraud insists this is not the case and notes that 1998 temperatures would still be well above average for the century.
"When you look at climate change you should not look at any particular year," he told the BBC. "You should look at trends over a pretty long period and the trend of temperature globally is still very much indicative of warming."
"La Nina is part of what we call 'variability'. There has always been and there will always be cooler and warmer years, but what is important for climate change is that the trend is up."
Experts at the U.K. Met Office's Hadley Centre for forecasting in Exeter said the world could expect another record temperature within five years or less, the BBC reports, probably associated with an episode of El Nino.

Georgetwin I'll take that challange
While I may be half witted I am no drug addled leftover hippie, I digress. To the challenge I use business as a model. Much as I cannot predict daily who will or will not walk into my store, I can use data from past years to predict trends. Of course the more years the better the trend prediction and the narrower I can make the prediction.(disclaimer. I do not own a store, it is a sample and not intended as fact)

That being said, However I would be remiss, or foolish, or possibly a law breaker if I were to knowingly continue to use numbers I knew were false in for instance a statement of earnings for perspective investors in my business.

So as far as long term weather, IMHO, I can see where a person could present reasonable trends. I guess much like we can predict winter and summer.

Much like you though I think the current people pushing this global warming issue and how best to deal with it are not to be trusted.

WHEW
sorry folks, I just crash landed my Tomcat on the deck of the Kitty Hawk. The Captain is pretty peeved, but wobbie will get over it soon enough. I'll be flying again by late afternoon.

SteveL
why is Mars warming? Too many SUV's I presume!

The fallacy, Doug, in your analogy
is that if the "trends" and history you look at in your business only cover the last week, your data are worthless.

That's the whole point of my comment just a couple up. The AGW hysteria is based on data accumulated under very questionable methods that only go back less than a century. Further, FYI, the data don't even factor in nor include rainfall.

Rainfall!

But the bottom line is that a 100 year assessment is absolutely meaningless; geological climactic change and events cover a much longer time frame.

SSGT. It's the Mars Rover.
More evidence of man's disgusting impact on global warming.

SteveL
I don't claim to be a scientist, but I do know a contradiction when I hear it. For example:

If it's unseasonably hot, we're told it's caused by global warming.

If it's unseasonably cool, we're told it's caused by global warm.

If we have an unusually dry summer, we're told it's caused by global warming.

If we have an unusually rainy summer, we're told it's caused by global warming.

If the weather is unusually windy, we're told it's caused by global warming.

If the weather is unusually calm, we're told it's caused by global warming.

Quite frankly, you global warming alarmists are like the little boy who cried "wolf." Having Al Gore as your poster boy doesn't help matters any. This is the same man who claimed he was the inspiration for "Love Story" (that was a surprise to everyone, including the author of "Love Story"), and that he was a co-sponsor of the Earned Income Tax Credit (which was passed two years before he was elected to Congress).

BrianR, coulndt agree with you more
Thus the reference to using knowingly false numbers in a perspectice(hope thats the right word) two big problems I notice with numbers used to support Agw

One the Nasa numbers used from their temperature collection sites have been proven wrong, and they have admitted they were wrong.

Two which as you have pointed out, BrianR is that their trend numbers are taken from a number too small to truely support their forecast.

Both these items could possibly be dismissed as sophistry if but for the fact that Those demanding that we accept them and follow their lead on the issue werent so powerful and their solutions to this fraud so damaging to our every day lives ie current fuel prices.

MotleyCrue, SSGT
Good morning!

Nope, sorry, but it wasn't the rover, Motley. I have it on good authority (a PTO member in my daughter's school), that the emissions from SUVs are floating over to Mars, and causing that planet to warm up.

You learn something new everyday!!

ALL
Just landed the new XR-57 Black helo, developed under joint oversight by Herr Overlord Rove and Cheney laboratories. Flies like a dream. New scatter ray aloows us to vaporize libs as needed.

Surveillance of the libs will begin ASAP. Please refer to your VRWC memo dtd 12 May 08.

BrianR
Good to see you back in force. Wobbie and Hal missed the abuse hurled their way.

Rock on brother.

Thanks Again Motley
for stealing my thunder! By the way, does the rain on Mars clean the rover?

YLG
hello young lady! :-). I'll tell ya, that PTO gal has been sniffing way too may exhaust pipes lately. Or is that bong pipes?

Ken
Your points are true, but you forgot a couple of things:

If it's a really active hurricane season in the Atlantic, that's because of AGW.

If it's a really quiet hurricane season in the Atlantic, that's because of AGW.

If glaciers are shrinking anywhere on Earth, that's because of AGW.

If glaciers are growing anywhere on Earth, that's because of AGW.

Man, I wish I had a job like that...

Gunny
"Just landed the new XR-57 Black helo, developed under joint oversight by Herr Overlord Rove and Cheney laboratories. Flies like a dream. New scatter ray aloows us to vaporize libs as needed."

Shhhhhh!! That's only conversation fit for SIPRNET, remember?

Doug and Gunny
Doug, amen, bro. Absolutely right; great examples.

Gunny, thanks, man. Glad to see you're back safe and sound.

"Man, I wish I had a job like that..."

You're not kidding! Talk about never having to say you're sorry!

Ohh crud I just caught the

BrianR
where ya been hiding? Good to see around again.

I'll give her the benefit, and say exhaust pipes, since she is always chasing down SUVs like a rabid dog.

SSGT.... weeell
I've been around a bit, but ever since McCain locked up the nomination, I've kind of lost interest in politics, unless a particular column and the thread really stimulate me.

I don't have a dog in the race anymore, y'know?

But thanks for the kind words.

Ken part 1
Here is some "proof" of global warming:

The Changing Arctic
By George Nicolas Ifft
The Arctic seems to be warming up. Reports from fishermen, seal hunters, and explorers who sail the seas about Spitzbergen and the eastern Arctic, all point to a radical change in climatic conditions, and hitherto unheard-of high temperatures in that part of the Earth’s surface.
In August, the Norwegian Department of Commerce sent an expedition to Spitzbergen and Bear Island under the leadership of Dr. Adolf Hoel, lecturer on geology at the University of Christiania. Its purpose was to survey and chart the lands adjacent to the Norwegian mines on those islands, take soundings of the adjacent waters, and make other oceanographic investigations.
Dr. Hoel, who has just returned, reports the location of hitherto unknown coal deposits on the eastern shores of Advent Bay – deposits of vast extent and superior quality. This is regarded as of first importance, as so far most of the coal mined by the Norwegian companies on those islands has not been of the best quality.
The oceanographic observations have, however, been even more interesting. Ice conditions were exceptional. In fact, so little ice has never before been noted. The expedition all but established a record, sailing as far north as 81 degrees 29 minutes in ice-free water. This is the farthest north ever reached with modern oceanographic apparatus.
The character of the waters of the great polar basin has heretofore been practically unknown. Dr. Hoel reports that he made a section of the Gulf Stream at 81 Degrees north latitude and took soundings to a depth of 3100 meters (10,160 feet). These show the Gulf Stream very warm, and it could be traced as a surface current till beyond the 81st parallel. The warmth of the waters makes it probable that the favorable ice conditions will continue for some time.

BrianR-MotleyCrue-YLG-Ssgt and DOUG
OK Doug:

Predict the next Ice Age.

Predict The MEGAMILLION Numbers for May 13, 2038.

Predict the weather for July 4, 2045.

Ken part 2
Later a section was taken off the Gulf Stream off Bear Island and off the Isfjord, as well as a section of the cold current that comes down along the west coast of Spitzbergen off the south cape.
In connection with Dr. Hoel’s report, it is of interest to note the unusually warm summer in Arctic Norway and the observations of Capt. Martin Ingebrigtsen, who has sailed the eastern Arctic for 54 years past. He says that he first noted warmer conditions in 1918, that since that time it has gotten steadily warmer, and that today the Arctic of that region is not recognizable as the same region of 1868 to 1917.
Many old landmarks are so changed as to be unrecognizable. Where formerly great masses of ice were found, there are now often moraines, accumulations of earth and stones. At many points where glaciers formerly extended far into the sea, they have entirely disappeared.
The change in temperature, says Capt. Ingebrigtsen, has also brought about great change in the flora and fauna of the Arctic. This summer he sought for white fish in Spitzbergen waters. Formerly great shoals of them were found there. This year he saw none, although he visited all the old fishing grounds.
There were few seals in Spitzbergen waters this year, the catch being far under the average. This, however, did not surprise the captain. He pointed out that formerly the waters about Spitzbergen held an even summer temperature of about 3 degrees Celsius (37F); this year recorded temperatures of up to 15C (59F), and last winter the ocean did not freeze over even on the north coast of Spitzbergen.
With the disappearance of white fish and seal has come other life in these waters. This year, herring in great shoals were found along the west coast of Spitzbergen, all the way from the fry to the veritable great herring. Shoals of smelt were also met with..

Good afternoon. I hope your day is going well.

BrianR
NOTHING TO IT!

Sometimes I land backwards.

BTW, Hal Drunkahue spewed some Bravo Sierra on Prager's Column.

I see that the
whackos, again, turned back passage to drill for more oil in our country. Thanks again, whackos. And you'll be the first to B*tch when pricing reaches 5.00 a gallon.

McCain Handing Obama the WH Keys
Back in the summer of 1980, WH Chief of Staff Hamilton Jordan knew Carter was in serious trouble when Ronald Reagan's national election staffs began closing offices in California and New York. Jordan knew that Reagan had cemented his party's base in the 2 biggest states and now could concentrate on getting the undecideds. With Ted Kennedy still clipping his heels, Carter knew that much of his base was split between himself and Kennedy. In 3 months Carter would go on to lose in a landslide.

It is now almost June and McCain, unlike Carter, does not worry about his base. As a matter of fact, he thinks he can win without them. His last series of Global Warming speeches was for the benefit of those mysterious Democrats who he thinks he can capture. Never in the history of modern elections has any President won an election without the support of his base. This year will be no different.

Up to now, no one has challagned McCain from the Right. However, with up to 25% of the Indiana and North Carolina GOP voting against McCain last week, it appears things are about to change. Former Georgia Rep Robert Barrwill be running against McCain as an Indpendent. McCain had his chances of repairing his relationship with the Right and has failed miserably. His overtures to the Climate Change Crowd as well as La Raza are mind boggeling. Why would any of these people vote for him when they have the real deal? In the mean time he is all but alienated his conservative base. Obama will win in November by at least 5, maybe 10 states.

BrianR
I hear ya. But its always good to see all the folks around once in a while. OOOUUUCCCHHHH!!!

sorry again. Its hard to type and control the Raptor at the same time. I'll be right back, just after I land this puppy!

So far so good!

Thanks to global warming, I am enjoying the cool breeze here. It's motivating me to garden!

Sounds good, SSGT
BTW, my Shuttle Mission's going great.

I had a bird's-eye view of Georgetwin landing that invisible F-15; it was a real greaser landing.

Looks to me like you're a little above the glide path, btw.

Seriously, one has a better chance at getting a fabulous manicure using a Cuisinart, than predicting the weather!!

I will not vote for McCain
There is only one thing that could induce me to vote for McCain and that would a complete denunciation of climate hysterics. Since that won't happen, McCain will not get my vote.

YLG
sorry, my bad. I just needed to sit outside in that 40* May GW evening here in Oh. Tell ya later!
And you know I would NEVER ditch ya's

Let me know when the pattern is clear. I am bored and want to land sideways on a submarine today.

BTW, when you get a chance, a fresh Drunkahue posting at Prager's.

georgetwin, hold on to your hat...
The next ice age...immediately follows Owlgores first term in office of Pres. where he is successfuly able to implement proper controls of cow gas.

Megan Millions...tricky very tricky how'd you know that was the date I would use to follow through on my plans for retirement. Oh no sir I wont let that cat out of the bag.

Oh thats easy I just go by the trend so lets see followed by an absolutely gorgeous last two weeks of May... try to maintain normal breathing while I spring this on you... rain, 58 degrees f. and gray skies as far as the eye can see, oh which brings me to visibility 50 feet.

So there now that you've been soundly trounced and I am over whelmed with the excitment of victory I shall take a break and go have a smoke. Thats right stew on it Georgetwin ;-)

New Parody on Politicians
my blog.

CONTEMPT AND PUBLIC OUTRAGE
This may sound a bit conspiratorial but it is not meant to be, it's just that things are adding up to looking at the ongoing cry for we humans to repair the earth's climate. Pure B.S.

In the recent weeks past, this planet has suffered, tornadoes, hurricanes, cyclones, tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and other natural phenomena, none of which involved the enabling by mankind. This all proves, the earth is not your friend and man is a survivor, his existence is due to his tenacity. We here in this nation are fast approaching a head on collision with the politburo we now call congress and many others in leadership positions over this idea that man is responsible for weather and climate on this globe.

I for one call it what it is a huge fraud, a scam dreamed up by the politicks that be, to controll and impede the freedoms that we now experience, to pick the pockets of the taxpayers and create a class of elitist beyond the reach of any democratic government. In other words a large body of leaders and hangers-on that have every intention of destroying our country and all who oppose their will and they seem to be succeeding....Is there any difference between the RINO McCain and any lib?

Georgetwin
you sissy. Unless you can bring it in backwards, your no pilot in my book. At least thats what wobbie tells drunkahue!

By the way, the pattern is clear!

McCain
Excellent article! McCain seems "stuck on stupid" on this issue!! I couldn't believe it when asked by O'Reilly about Anwar, he said, "No, I wouldn't drill in Anwar, or the Grand Canyon", I have never heard a more stupid remark than that. He scares me!

That's why I savaged the moron on the Anti Liberal Zone today. McLame, McInsane, McShamnesty, it all boils down to him being the Hanoi-Liberal Candidate.

McLame made me a Libertarian
Bob Barr for president. If we allow this socialist (McCain) in the white house we will in effect have destroyed the years work of William Buckley,Ronald Regean, Rush and all of the other consertives. It is bad enough to have tolerate Bush and his leftist policies for the last eight years. I would rather see the Fascist Obama or the Marxist Clinton in the White house rather then let McCain lend his hand in devistating all the hard work of true conservitives.

whoops
by Nima Sanandaji and Fred Goldberg
The media portrays a dramatic image of how the ice is melting in the polar regions as a consequence of global warming. We are warned that the North Pole might become icefree during the summer months at the end of this century and that the polar bears might become extinct due to this development.
But is this really a realistic image? Sure, there is research that indicates that the ice sheets are being reduced, but there are also studies that show the complete opposite. An example of this is a study in the scientific journal Geophysical Research Letter where the Swedish researcher Peter Winsor compares data collected by submarines below the Arctic ice. His conclusions are that the thickness of the ice has been almost constant between 1986 and 1997.
If you look at the South Pole there are studies that show an increase in the mass of the ice. In a study published in the journal Nature a number of polar researchers showed that they had observed a net cooling of 0.7 degrees in the region between 1986 and 2000. Another study published in Science showed that the East-Antarctic ice sheet had grown with 45 million metric tones between 1992 and 2003.
Are the ices growing or melting? The simple answer is that there exist studies that point to both directions, perhaps indicating that scientists know relatively little about global climate. But what counts to most ordinary people is what media is reporting, and media is often highlighting the most alarming studies and seldom report of studies that go against the notion that human activity leads to global warming. To put it simply, the news is filtered through an environmentalist view of the world.

To Paul
Obviously, you can vote for anyone you wish, but how do you excuse the global warming zeal by the two liberal candidates but condemn McCain's?

Woody from Iowa

whoops part 2
An interesting example of how media sometimes gets it wrong is how journalists reported that there had never been so little ice in the Arctic than in 2005. This claim was based on satellite images by NASA which showed that the geographic extent of the ice sheet had never been so small since measurement began in 1979. One must however keep in fact that about half of the ice in the Arctic melts each summer and that two months before this measurment the extent of the ice sheet was the same as the previous year. The problem is that satellite images show the surface of the ice but not the thickness.
Capten Årnell at the summer expedition with the polar-ship Oden could tell that he had never seen so much ice in the Arctic than in 2005. It was with great difficulty that he had passed through the region. What had happened in 2005 seems to be that the ice had packed densely against the Canadian part of the Arctic. The geographical extent had been reduced but the ice was thicker.
As for polar bears, much points to that their numbers are increasing rather than diminishing. Mitch Taylor, a Canadian expert on animal populations, estimates that the number of polar bears in Canada has increased from 12 000 to 15 000 the past decade. Steven C Amstrup and his college have studied a population of polar bears in Alaska and reported that the number of females had increased from 600 to 900 between 1976 and 1992. Even a report from the WWF which is entitled "Polar bears at risk" and warns that the populations of the polar bears might become extinct due to global warming, supports that the number of polar bears is increasing. In the report the polar bears in the world are divided into 20 populations. It shows out that only 2 of these populations are decreasing, while 10 are stable, 5 are growing and 3 are not possible to comment about.

Let's not forget what David said here
We must hold Mclame accountable while we are voting for him.

Woody
"Obviously, you can vote for anyone you wish, but how do you excuse the global warming zeal by the two liberal candidates but condemn McCain's?"

I'm not Paul, but probably because we expect this nonsense from liberals. McCain buying this nonsense vs Obama buying it is sort of the difference between finding Jimmy Swaggart with hookers vs. Charlie Sheen. Same act, but in one case it is horrifying, while in the other it is expected.

Doug
Somewhere I think I missed some sarcasm on your part.

My Humblest Apologies :)!

Enough of John McCain
John McCain cannot become the next president of the United States!

I am not a Libertarian but Bob Barr has done a service for the United States by running for president! Conservatives now can vote for a “truer conservative,” than McCain.
What has happened to the Republican Party? Even Newt has gone to the dark side with the global warming hoax!

No doubt, that voting for Bob Barr will give Obama the White House. Nevertheless, if democrat/socialist policies are going to be promoted then let someone that has democrat/socialist title be responsible for the consequences!

McCain is counting on conservatives to vote for him because he believes that we will not want to see the democrat in the White House. However, if conservatives vote for him it will set the Reagan Revolution back another generation. Can those of us that claim to love the great conservative Ronald Reagan and, what he did for us, violate our consciences by voting for liberal McCain? Conservatives must not only defeat the left wing we must defeat the Nixon/Rockefeller wing of the Republican Party! Let these elitist do what Jay Rockefeller did and join the other elitists that comprise the democrat party!

Therefore, we must prepare for the pain of another Jimmy Cater, so that the Reagan Revolution will again rise out of the wilderness and bring pride in, and common sense to the United States of America!

May God Help the United States of America!

Ssgt
HOW DARE YOU! It was BAD ENOUGH you called me a sissy, but to compare me to WOBBIE AND HAL!!!!!! That is REALLY hitting below the belt!

Just for that, I am going to show off! I’m going to land my Double Secret Probation F15 on a submarine that is UNDERWATER!

Yep
You see "conservatives" like McRINO, Gingrich and Bush signing on to it; it's absolutely disgusting. The triumph of hysteria over reason.

We're going back to an era where religious fanatics -- and environmental zealotry IS a religion, make no mistake -- determine "scientific fact" to conform to their dogma. Exactly why Galileo was condemned as a heretic for espousing the Copernican view that the earth revolves around the Sun. The Church held to an earth-centric dogma, and everything else was heresy.

That's EXACTLY the swamp into which we're descending.

Coleman
I disagree. We had to endure Carter to get Reagan. Four years of Socialist H*LL under the one of the three stooges will ensure that 2012 will be the Year of the Conservatives and that NO LIBERAL will be elected to any position higher than dogcatcher for another 25 years. (Which is as it should be anyway!)

Georgetwin
That's all you got? I'm co-pilot on the next shuttle mission.

Scuttlebutt has it that Wobbie is training for a mission to Uranus.

LOL, Gunny
Uranus?

I think his head's already there....

Sorry, Lumberjack, I disagree
The most likely Justices to retire are Ginsburg and Stevens, the two most liberal.

So two libs get replaced with two OTHER libs. So what?

Thanks for the laugh, bro! I really needed one!

Don't forget that Kennedy and Souter are getting up there in years too. Kennedy is usually the swing vote in the current 4-4 con/lib court. Losing him swings the court left.

wobbie: oooooofahhhhhhh

Thanks GunnyG
spew alert next time, please

Lumberjack, actually
since Roberts took over the Court, Kennedy has been on board with the conservatiove majorities almost every time; he's always tended to side with the conservatives.

Souter is also just another lib who would be replaced with a lib. Again, no harm no foul.

But more importantly, what gives you the idea McRINO would nominate conservative Justices. Just because he said so????

McRINO: "Alito wears his conservatism on his sleeve."

He'd have to niminate the type of Justices who would find McCain-Feingold unconstitutional, and that's highly unlikely. He still considers that his legacy legislation.

Last year, in Wisconsin RTL v. FEC, McRINO filed an amicus brief supporting the FEC. Fortunately, SCOTUS found for WRTL, partially dismantling McCain-Feingold.

But McRINO's not going to be nominating any Scalias; we'd be lucky if he nominated Harriet Meyers-types.

You guys
are old news landing your jets sideways on submarines.

That's nothing...I just got back from a triple circumnavigation of the world via the backstroke!

So who's this Robert guy and what's his story?

Georgetwin of course you missed
some sarcasm on my part, but to be clear I think it is possible to predict trends of all types no joke about it, wether they be in weather, business or human behavior. What I dont think possible is to predict specific events down to a specific time and date.

I also think its pretty clear that reliable trend predicting is dependent upon reliable data which of course I dont believe the global warming crowd has done a honest job of collecting or analyzing said data.

Furthermore it is worthwhile to take into account the solutions presented to counter the trends predicted. In the case of agw the pro crowd (including McCain) would seem to do much greater damage then the predicted agw(if in fact 2 to 10 degrees increases over the course of a lifetime could be considered damaging) itself. Therefore I would have to side with those here that are finding the whole concept and the solutions to it as.... bunk

PS
SCOTUS appointments are always too much of a crapshoot to base the decision on, anyway.

After all, look who appointed O'Conner and Souter: Republicans.

Wobbie & Hal both LOVE to be:

IT IS TEMPTING
Tempting to say that I will NOT vote for McCain!

I don't like him and I don't trust him

BUT the thought of an Obama presidency (Jimmy Carters second term) is just too much. I will hold my nose and vote for one reason in particular, The Supreme Court.

If we are lucky, John McCain will pick a great V.P. (but I have doubts of that too) and then right after Jan. 20, 2009, find his "eternal reward" elsewhere.

Look at them starting with the one at May 13, 2008 - 3:04 PM EST.

They're addressed to Lumberjack.

Hmmmm......
Looks like the Village Idiot got booted again already.

What a shame, I'm sure.

I don't disagree but with McCain there is a chance of a reasonable appointment. Obama has already said that Ginsberg is his idea of a good justice. Yuuuuuuuuk

Michelle Obama not only separates whites and blacks in society, but she elevates blacks over whites in her world. "There is no doubt in my mind that as a member of the black community, I am obligated to this community and will utilize all of my present and future resources to benefit the black community first and foremost". As First Lady, she would have numerous resources to reach this goal. Again, not exactly "first lady" material!

SCOTUS
My fellow Americans...

Recent history does indeed suggest that the future idealogical proclivities of Justices can be difficult to predict.

The trend seems to be that a Justice deemed to be conservative upon appointment can slide toward liberalism, but not the other way around.

The bottom line is that, while there are no gaurantees, the power of judicial appointment remains one of the greatest powers granted to the Chief Executive.

Therefore, the lever must be ever so reluctantly pulled for Senator McCain.

Even though it's off-topic, let's hear some more tall tales...

I know that I myself can only stay online for a little longer as I must depart in order to ride a square-wheeled unicycle to the summit of K-2.

Can anybody top that?

Your Most Humble and Obedient Servant,

GW

Insanity
Back in the days of global cooling, they considered spraying soot on the ice caps to help them melt. Now these crackpots purpose injecting glass pellets in the atmosphere to deflect the sun's rays. It's like a bunch of mad scientists at work. They are truly freaking me out.

BTW, Nasa, among others, state it will be cooler for the next 30 years, BUT, then global warming will be back with a vengenance. FOOLS!

Unfortunately, Wally
Believe it or not....so did McRINO.

He specifically has said he considers Ginsburg "highly qualified".

Primus,
Virginia is a Soreholes sorehead. He/she has been whining about McCain since he became the presumptive nominee. I find it amusing that he/she claims not to participate in the dissolution of the country, but he/she will damn sure promote it by encouraging others not to support McCain.

Seems unable to grasp the concept that not voting for McCain is a vote for oblama or hellary, which is participation by default. I have arrived at the conclusion that he/she is a liberal troll. Can't seem to engage in any dialogue beyond slamming McCain on immigration, no matter what the topic of the article.

Personally I wish VA would go hide under a bed because he/she seems unable to cope with an imperfect world and the fact that you don't always get your way. Adults accept this fact and strive to find ways to make the best of a difficult situation.

McCain, with all his faults, is far, far the better choice. So stand on priciple VA and see how far you get. The far left could give a sh!t and neither could the moderates. So that leaves you on the fringe of the far right, where I doubt seriously the majority are as stupid as you!

dce5mc

McCain?
I respect you as I do respect and admire Rush, Rush is my hero.

You can vote for McCain. I will not vote for McCain because he will do every thing in the opposite way that I believe. I can not vote for McCain because McCain does not represent my ideology in politics. The ones who he represent their politics can do that.

McCain for me is liar who laugh when contradict but he knows what he wants to do and he will said any thing to be elected as the Communist do. I know it very well. McCain is not a Republican. He is traitor to our cause as well as Newt Gingrich sitting next to the Pelosi. It is a shameful act.

SAD STATE OF AFFAIRS
Is anyone confronting Sen. McCain at these townhall meetings? Who is advising him re: AGW, economy, immigration? These comments need to go directly to them!

Perhaps this election is about voting against rather than for a candidate. They are all flawed and dishonest, yet two are outright dangerous.
Sadly, Sen. McCain is taking this for granted --
to his and our great peril.

C02 emissions
Ok so you don't believe that Carbon Dioxide traps heat in the atmosphere and we have pour tons and tons of C02 into the air.
But you cannot deny the fact that the oceans are becoming acidic
Ocean scientists are holding symposiums and struggling to address this problem. There is no solution to this one but to cut carbon dioxide. C02 dissolved in water creates carbonic acid. A simple high school chemistry fact.

An acid bath on marine animals is bad BAD news. Last time it happened from massive volcanic explosions, million of years ago there were massive extinctions of sea live.

Deny it if you will. Global climate change or loss of oceans. We are in serious SERIOUS trouble.

Conservative? Republican? McCain?
I have just emailed the McCain campaign that unless he swings more to the right, I will no longer be able to support his campaign. I will not vote for him in the general election. There is very little difference between his stated goals and those of the democrats. Global Warming? No. Open borders? No. Liberal appeasement? No. Give me back my Republican party. Give me back my country.

Chicaree
We don't have to do anything about carbon dioxide. Plants will take care of it.

But if you're still worried, why don't you start by reducing your personal CO2 emissions to zero.

Starting...now.

BrianR
LOL, a new name McRINO.

Too bad the rest of the party is moving to a vast left wing mob also. We will not be able to use the term RINO much longer because the new Republicrat stance will be liberal.

To everyone
Click on my name and stop by my blog to learn about Carl Magee, a great American whose achievement has touched the lives of all of us.

Hope to see all of you there!

chick-pea
You eco-idiots are going to have to make up your mind on what the eco-disaster of the year is. The ocean is acidic, the ocean is acid, oh woe is us we’re all gonna die.

Even if by some remote possibility the oceans are growing more acidic from CO2 what do you think the CO2 level was when life was formed and crawled out of the sea? (assuming you are a Darwinist).

If you said many hundreds and thousands of times more than it is now you would be correct.

"Skates" from OK????
"Skates"??? LMAO!

That you, "Fraud" Robert??

New "moniker", eh?

And, gee - where'd all those posts go I wonder?

(Yes, Robert - the "secret" for getting your name back after getting banned is a secret no more - Ha, ha, ha...)

SteveL, Part I
Once again, we have the tiresome chicken-hawk argument in one of its many forms. So the only person qualified to present evidence and draw conclusions on anything is an expert in that field, defined by you as someone with a PhD? Your ignorance is showing. That's like saying that only a PhD in economics may opine on tax policy, regardless of how much evidence and logic is presented. Or that I'm unqualified to diagnose a common cold in my own body, despite my previous experience with colds and access to medical information about colds. In your mind, I have to be extensively knowledgeable about the human body and modern medicine in order to know that I have a cold.

And before you argue that I could (very rarely) misdiagnose my cold when it is really something else, even physicians misdiagnose such ailments. There is no certainty in medicine, although it is far more reliable than the infant science of climatology.

SteveL, Part II
Of course you don't want to hear opinions from anyone outside the scientific community. Political correctness has bullied them into silence. But you can't control the rest of us. And for the record, there are some brave climate scientists who have spoken up about the inconsistency of the evidence with the politically correct conclusions you have drawn from it.

Science is not a consensus-building endeavor. If you had the goods, you'd produce it. You can't refute anything I've written, so you act exactly as I predicted: like a bully. "Shut up! You don't have a PhD!"

What if Galileo's theory of heliocentrism had been decided by consensus rather than the evidence? I'm sure you'd have argued that the vast majority of scientists "say it's true," so it must be.

"Cherry-picking results by a few experts (out of many more) to support preconceived political notions."

Yes, you've got me pegged. I want mankind to make the planet uninhabitable for me and my children. I can clearly see the evidence that humans are warming the planet, but I just don't care. So I dishonestly mischaracterize the evidence. That's a much more plausible explanation than that the Left knows we're not warming the planet, but you need to make people think we are so they will accept your anti-capitalism, anti-freedom solutions.

Here's where I got my information on the contributions of water vapor and CO2 to the greenhouse effect. Don't forget to check the references.

http://www.junkscience.com/Greenhouse/

SteveL
Oh, and the Petraeus analogy is poor. Where do you think I'm getting my facts and logic from? Scientists! The Left doesn't bother to look at facts that the military presents. In fact, it claims those facts are nothing but propaganda (and it argues illogically based on false premises that are contrary to human nature). My argument is that the AGW conclusions, as well as the skewed presentation of "facts" such as Al Gore's charts, are propaganda. I hope you can see the difference.

concensus huh?
"I personally cannot in good faith continue to contribute to a process that I view as both being motivated by pre-conceived agendas and being scientifically unsound. As the IPCC leadership has seen no wrong in Dr. Trenberth's actions and have retained him as a Lead Author for the AR4, I have decided to no longer participate in the IPCC AR4."

http://www.lavoisier.com.au/papers/articles/landsea.html

AGW
propoganda is so crazy that even the IPCC members are speaking out against it, or just quitting.

McCain
What we are learning is that McCain is sound in areas where he has experience, such as the military, Supreme Ct nominees, etc. But when faced with social/scientific topics, he instinctively seeks to avoid conflict by following liberal positions and solutions with some tweaking. He is a follower, not a leader.

The only area McLame is sound in is
backstabbing conservatives and crossing the aisle to plot with the commies.

Bob Barr Is More Conservative Than
Sen. Stick-in-the-eye

mccain
i haved contributed to many conservative causes over the last 30 years. in november, i will reluctantly vote for mccain, even though he is deeply flawed, but i will not contribute one cent to his campaign, or to the campaign of anyone else that is heart and soul comitted to the destruction of our country by illegal immigration. this election boils down to a choice of a candidate who will intentionally destroy our country while destroying the constitution with liberal supreme court nominations, or one who will intentionally destroy our country by illegal immigration while possibly nominating somewhat less unacceptable supreme court can didates. sad.

Nice try, Wobbie
First of all, I never wrote that Galileo was the first to conceive of Heliocentrism. In fact, other scientists "came up with it" centuries earlier. At worst, I'm guilty of phrasing it clumsily as "Galileo's theory." But it's true that it was his theory in that he adopted it and defended it.

In fact, your mistake is worse because you explicitly claimed to identify Copernicus as the originator of the theory.

Secondly, so what? Substitute Copernicus (or Aristarchus or Seleucus) for Galileo in my post and the point is still valid. Are you trying to argue in favor of science becoming a consensus-building endeavor?

Nice try. So how are you doing on compiling your answers to BrianR's questions about your credibility?

Hey Robert

How come your posts keep disappearing, eh?

And who is "Skates"?

Wobbie
One more point. Galileo is probably the most famous case of persecution for practicing good science. It makes more sense to cite him, even though he was not the original proponent of heliocentrism, than anyone else on this matter.

That's all.

Am I correct
thinking that coal/oil are made of plant/animal material that died thousands of years ago? If so, that would put the lie to Gorebull Warming
with the report in the 20's of the coal mines
found in the Arctic. I remember reading something on line regarding Britains climate about 20,000 years ago, was semi tropical.
The cynic in me, tells me that nothing is done in a vacuum, not Gorebull warming, not Open Borders, not Scamnesty...follow the money. I've had the opinion that there are folks in high places making big bucks by ignoring our borders, allowing the so called War on Drugs to
continue..ie payoffs under the table perhaps?
Nah, I'm being silly, our incorruptible electeds would NEVER stoop that low.
Someone up here where I live should invite McCain to come here for a much needed suntan
around January first.

Good Read
David when you said "the global push to "save the planet" is more about destroying capitalism, private property and Western culture" that is the entire truth of the big GW scare. I only wish more people saw it.

North Virginia, Laura?
Where would that be?

update from McCain central....
He is launching a new line of eco friendly items in his online store. T Shirts made of biodegradable fabric and all kinds of items made from recycled stuff????

Guess he still has a little capitalism in him even if it is for the purpose of getting more donor dollars for his war chest.

Watched Hill's victory speech in WV tonight. She is really looking good these days. She may actually pull the Dem nomination off. Wonder if all that stuff was made in America?????

Whichever Dem gets the nod, Mac's got an uphill climb.

Laura Bush
You are way off the topic, but I have to say, your comment is so typical of the liberal elite. I really wouldn't expect anythings else from you. So, tell us who else do you feel superior to?

I wonder if McCain hasn't lost "it"

I was terribly disappointed that McCain was selected as the Rep Candidate. But, I reasoned that he was far more suitable than the other two empty suits. I know that too many politicians have little, if any, regard for what the "lower classes think"; in fact it appears that too many don't believe that we can even think.

When I observe the "crowds" of worshippers kneeling before any politician, I can't help thinking that maybe the politicians are right; most of us appear to respond emotionally, not logically.

This nation is face with a potential of utter chaos unless the people start thinking. Obama is an unprincipled man as witness his "Wright saga."

Hillary is so consumed with the desire for power that she really believes she is the "anointed one" and deserve the power to enslave us all by implementing her "program."

McCain has revealed his true colors "fully." I have never trusted him and the more I learn about him the more I get the "willies."

So where does this leave us?

One; we need to study the GW propaganda in great detail. This single issue will destroy the economy and create a famine condition like nothing we have seen since the dark ages.
Check the following link; also "google" Richard Lindzen of MIT. There are many others and I will be getting them out asap.

Warming Deep-Sea Temperatures
Ended Last Ice Age
Study Validates My Theories .
27 Sep 07 - USC College researcher shows that deep-sea temperatures rose 1,300 years before the buildup of atmospheric carbon dioxide, ruling out CO2 as driver of the last ice age’s meltdown.
In contrast to what is often inferred from the geologic record, carbon dioxide did not cause the end of the last ice age, a new USC study published in Science suggests.

As I'm the one who cited Galileo,
let me clear up the history, especially for Roberto who continues to flaunt his ignorance, in this case of simple history.

Copernicus advanced the theory of heliocentrism in the era when the Church regarded earth-centrism as dogma.

In Italy, Galileo wrote a book supporting the Copernican theory, and for that he was condemned by the Catholic Church and branded a heretic. He essentially spent the final years of his life in a house arrest status as the Church was pressuring him to renounce the theory.

There you have it; plain and simple.

BTW, Roberrto the Twit, if you haven't been kicked off yet, when was your "article" published in "Proceedings"?

And why aren't you claiming anymore to be a US Navy Captain?
