Will the Dems' health care Christmas Present to America be an improvement or detriment to our health care system?

Being gracious winners, this week, liberals howled with delight at George Bush for coming in seventh-to-last in a historians' ranking of the presidents from best to worst.

This was pretty shocking. Most liberals can't even name seven U.S. presidents.

Being ranked one of the worst presidents by "historians" is like being called "anti-American" by the Nation magazine. And by "historian," I mean a former member of the Weather Underground, who is subsidized by the taxpayer to engage in left-wing political activism in a cushy university job.

So congratulations, George Bush! Whenever history professors rank you as one of the "worst" presidents, it's a good bet you were one of America's greatest.

Six months after America's all-time greatest president left office in 1989, historians ranked him as only a middling president. (I would rank George Washington as America's greatest president, but he only had to defeat what was then the world's greatest military power with a ragtag group of irregulars and some squirrel guns, whereas Ronald Reagan had to defeat liberals.)

At the time, historian Arthur M. Schlesinger Jr. dismissed Reagan as "a nice, old uncle, who comes in and all the kids are glad to see him. He sits around telling stories, and they're all fond of him, but they don't take him too seriously" -- and then Schlesinger fell asleep in his soup.

Even liberal historian Richard Reeves blanched at Reagan's low ranking in 1989, saying, "I was no fan of Reagan, but I think I know a leader when I see one."

Reagan changed the country, Reeves said, and some would say "he changed the world, making communism irrelevant and the globe safe for the new imperialism of free-market capitalism." In Reeves' most inspiring line, he says Reagan "was a man of conservative principle and he damned near destroyed American liberalism."

By 1996 things hadn't gotten much better for Reagan in the historians' view. A poll of historians placed Reagan 26th of 42 presidents -- below George H.W. Bush, his boob of a vice president who raised taxes and ended Republican hegemony under Reagan. Four of the 32 historians called Reagan a "failure."

I guess it depends on your definition of "failure." To me a failure is someone who aspired to be a legitimate scholar but ends up as an obscure lecturer at Colorado College.

Speaking of which, Colorado College political scientist Thomas Cronin explained Reagan's low ranking, saying Reagan "was insensitive to women's rights, civil rights, oblivious to what was going on in his own Administration -- the procurement scandal, HUD, Iran-Contra."

Soon after he took office, President Reagan famously hung a portrait of President Calvin Coolidge in the Cabinet Room -- another (Republican) president considered a failure by historians. Continued...

More Socialist Drivel... (part 2)

Poor Command of the Queen's English?

“we dont car what you say. Religion doesnt matter here, we've evolved past the need to believe in fantasies. Got that?”

Response:

What does an automobile have to do with what I said? Obviously, you are the product of a “Public School Eduction.” BTW... That was good old American humor.

On the subject of Religion, consider the following from a former British Prime Mister:

http://tonyblairfaithfoundation.org/

As to the rest of your post, I would say this:

Where were the French and Spanish when George Washington crossed the Delaware and kicked your German mercenary's behinds?

When the END came for you British, The French Fleet did cut off your retreat, but by then, WE had brought the greatest military power in the world (at that time) to it's knees (too bad, too sad) “Get Over It.”

The point is that YOU WERE BEATEN, HUMILIATED and forced to leave us alone until WE where strong enough to keep your chestnuts out of the fire in two world wars!

AFTER WHICH ... meaning WWII... you abandoned your Empire and started down the road to socialism. AND where has that gotten you?

BTW... You stood alone for two years because of twits like you who refused to listen to Winston Churchill (part American). If you and the other Europeans had stopped Hitler in the first place there might have been a WWII.

Thank GOD, there are Englishmen who still believe that America is the last best hope for freedom and liberty.

It is pointless to go on, you have already made a fool of yourself on this AMERICAN site and we know you to be a socialist/Atheist, having all the wit and charm of an unfinished basement.

As I said: “We in the United States are about embark upon a NEW revolution:”

Ok, lets take your idiotic reply in bits. You say: "YES, America had help in it's Revolution, so what?" Erm, because Ann got it wrong in her article and you also. you both said you did it on your own, I showed you to be wrong, oh and stupid. DUH.

You say: "AFTER WHICH, you abandoned your Empire and started down the road to socialism. AND where has that gotten you?"

Well firstly we didnt abandon the Empire, please do read a book or two and you wont seem so dumb. We were a country who were hit hard by WW2. You know, the one where we stood ALONE against facism, while you sat scared at home for two years, until the Japanese called you out.

It always stuns me how the yanks can pull out your war affort with pride and say you "saved" us. In fact you should be ashamed you did NOTHING for those years. Quote: All it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing - Edmund Burke. Its you who should be ashamed. Me, I can hold my head up high.

You say: "..started down the road to socialism. AND where has that gotten you?" We are a top 5 capitalist country. Fact. A feat made all the more impressive considering our landmass is the size of Maryland.

Why should I reply to the Churchill and Thatcher quotes. In quoting great British people, you show your argument to be childish, stupid and contradictory. I dont need to add anything. And quoting some eastern fanatic doesnt mean diddly sh*t. So what. They regularly damn the US, should I take those as fact?

We have a secular country, ie unlike yours we dont recognise or give religion national credence. I already know you dont understand it, but its a fact. Therefore any religious nutjob, whether it be muslim or people like you the right wing ignoramii of the christian world, we dont car what you say. Religion doesnt matter here, we've evolved past the need to believe in fantasies. Got that?
