Do you feel the leaked information from a global warming alarmist organization is meaningful?

Sarah Palin's reputation survived her interview with ABC News' Charlie Gibson.

The same cannot be said for Charlie Gibson.

On my radio show last week, I twice defended Barack Obama. Once, against those conservatives who took a comment made by Obama in an interview with George Stephanopoulos out of context and suggested that Obama had inadvertently admitted he was a Muslim. And again, when I contended that Obama did not imply that Palin was a pig in his now famous "lipstick on a pig" reference.

I mention this only because I want to assume that people of good will on both sides can still be honest about what transpires politically. And in this instance what transpired was that Gibson intended to humiliate Palin.

It wasn't even subtle. Virtually everything Gibson did and virtually every question he posed was designed to trap, or trick, or demean Gov. Palin. There are views of his face that so reek of contempt that anyone shown photos of his look would immediately identify it as contemptuous.

But one series of questions, in particular, blew any cover of impartiality and revealed Gibson's aim to humiliate Palin.

GIBSON: Do you agree with the Bush doctrine?

PALIN: In what respect, Charlie?

GIBSON: The Bush -- well, what do you -- what do you interpret it to be?

PALIN: His worldview?

GIBSON: No, the Bush doctrine, enunciated September 2002, before the Iraq war.

When he asked Palin whether she agreed with the Bush Doctrine without defining it, he gave the game away. He lost any pretense of fairness. Asking the same unanswerable question three times had one purpose -- to humiliate the woman. That was not merely partisan. It was mean.

I couldn't answer it -- and I have been steeped in international affairs since I was a Fellow at the Columbia University School of International Affairs in the 1970s. I have since been to 82 countries, and have lectured in Russian in Russia and in Hebrew in Israel. Most Americans would consider a candidate for national office who had such a resume qualified as regards international relations. Yet I had no clue how to answer Gibson's question.

I had no clue because there is no right answer. There are at least four doctrines that are called "Bush Doctrine," which means that there is no "Bush Doctrine." It is a term bereft of meaning, as became abundantly clear when Gibson finally explained what he was referring to:

GIBSON: The Bush doctrine, as I understand it, is that we have the right of anticipatory self-defense, that we have the right to a preemptive strike against any other country that we think is going to attack us. Do you agree with that -- the right to preemptive attack of a country that was planning an attack on America?

That's the Bush Doctrine? "The right to preemptive attack of a country that was planning an attack on America?"

Isn't that just common sense? What country in history has thought it did not have the right to attack those planning to attack it? I learned the "Bush Doctrine" when I was a student at yeshiva in the fourth grade, when I was taught a famous Talmudic dictum from about 1,800 years ago: "If someone is coming to kill you, rise early and kill him."

And preemptive attack is exactly what happened in June 1967, when Israel attacked Egypt and Syria because those countries were planning to attack Israel. Would any American president before George W. Bush have acted differently than Israel did? Of course not. Did they all believe in the Bush Doctrine?

That is how Gibson added foolishness to his meanness.

All the interview did was reconfirm that Republicans running for office run against both their Democratic opponent and the mainstream news media.

This year it is more obvious than ever. The press's beatification of Obama is so obvious, so constant (how many covers of Newsweek and Time has Obama been on?) that media credibility even among many non-conservatives has been hurt.

Let me put this another way. Charlie Gibson showed far greater hostility toward the Republican vice-presidential candidate than Dan Rather did in his interview with Saddam Hussein or Mike Wallace did in his interview with Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Which reminds me of another Talmudic dictum: "Those who are merciful to the cruel will be cruel to the merciful."

We might call it the media's Gibson Doctrine: Confront Republicans, act obsequious toward tyrants.

Wow, great summary.
I'm not as educated as most, but in listening to the follow-up on the radio, when the Bush Doctrine question came up, my first instinctual response was "it doesn't exist".

And it doesn't. It can be whatever you want it to mean.

Silly, silly man, that Gibson.

Will--Get a life!
I don't often write comments, but I do read them. And I've noticed that your posts are always demeaning and crass. Why on earth you even read Town Hall columnists is beyond me since they all rile you to partial incoherence.

I agree with Dennis. Charlie was playing "gotcha" and figured it would be easy; he "misunderestimated" Sarah's poise and intelligence.

I find it sad: the Libs are so filled with hatred for Bush and anything Republican that they cannot be balanced in their interviews. Charlie wasn't seeking answers, truth, or an elevated understanding for his viewers; he was simply trying to trip up Palin and be triumphant. Sad, sad, sad.

liar liar
We already know that famous neo mantra about the "noble" lie, as evidenced by virtually every word Palin speaks. Palin is just another pretty face that is used to sway the unthinking masses with, "for America," "for freedom," "for democracy" . . .

You people are as morally bankrupt as AIG is financially!

Ewwww, I better pre-emptively kill the killer, I better make my money before I talk to the insurance person: I better kill the evil that calls itself good before the good that is evil kills me . . .

I bless you who blesses me, but I curse you who hates me . . .

Your "individualism" and "competition" has gotten you this far, and you made some money too . . .

Alas who is standing with Christ on Judgment Day is when all bets are called in!

He didn't know either
Charlie couldn't define what the Bush Doctrine was cause he didn't know either. He was hoping the Governor would tell him.

Gibson's no David Hartmann
When Charlie Gibson was ABC's Capitol Hill correspondent, he was given to pronouncements such as, "the white bean soup on the House side is thicker than the one found in the Senate cafeteria."

Following that epoch in journalism, he needed to avoid being the mere successor to the likable Mr. Hartmann. This he was never able to accomplish.

Now, plucked back into the NEWS Department, he's desperate to demonstrate that the insignificant presence he maintained as the "Good Morning Host" is not his legacy.

Truth is, Ms. Sawyer has more shot than Mr. Gibson and Mr. Gibson is in rear-guard militation against the view that he's been her second on the a.m. show for years now.

He is a man chasing a reputation that he didn't have when he was given the chance to earn one originally.

'Who is Charlie Gibson to us and we to him?'

Sydco
I don't even bother to read will's comments anymore. They're a complete waste of time.

The reason many leftists comment here is that they are paid to. Others are just volunteers following orders from the Daily Kos and MoveOn.org.

Bravo, Dennis!
I can always tell when you guys hit another home run...the haters and radical libs get so lathered up that they can't even make a coherent argument.

Of course good ole Charlie was mean! He was trying to shake off is grandpoppa image and gain some cred with his fellow haters. It worked!

And, Dennis...most impressive resume you've got there!

Will!
Brother, I couldn't agree with you more!

left out
I heard Prager on his radio show discuss this subject and on the radio show he brought up Vietnam and North Korea as two wars that the US was involved in that did not involve a country ready to attack us, so that makes Bush's alleged doctrine not an expansion of war making but a contraction of US policy.
So the fact that Gibson sees a contraction of US policy as offensive because it is too war like should give one a clue as to where Gibson stands.

response to Will..
Will, take a valium dude, you are way too wound up, and wrong by the way. Name one person in the press who has actually pressed Sen Obama on any of his past or any of his associates. We have Rev Wright, Ayers, and a host of others just waiting in the wings. Gibson was off base in his demeaning interview -- he was not professional, he was condensending. Instead of just blasting away, go watch the interview with a level head and even you should be able to see that what was written is true.

It's funny
Will and empyrius (particularly Will) - their liberal heads are just about to explode.

Fortunately when they do, there won't be much to clean up, as their heads are empty.

I love watching the lib melt down. ha ha

As other columnists at TH have noted, this woman who "has it all" (ie Family, career, intelligence, etc.). All these things are supposed to be that which is a foundation of the Dem party. Yet they couldn't get Hillary nominated.

Gov Palin's success flies in the face of everything they have tried to sell us for decades. Her success doesn't just knock off a few bricks from their towers, it crushes a foundation of the lib mantra.

Nat'l Org of Women is going to add a few additional words to there credo.
"Unless your conservative"

BOOM another lib head just exploded. BOOM, BOOM, BOOM ha ha

Dennis - Your observations are very accurate as usual. It was certainly obvious that Gibson felt he had to make some sort of example of Sarah. My belief is that when Gibson asked his "no possible answer" question, Sarah bit her lip (you can see it on the video when she tucks her upper lip slightly under her lower lip). I'm sure she was ready to tear him to pieces and show what a fool he is, but "counted to 10" and let it go. What style and grace.

Gibson: another victim of Sarah Phobia
and Palin Derrangement Syndrome.

Sorry Charlie!

Your subterfuge isn't fooling anyone. You are just another Leftie mean-spirited creep who is obsessed with shoving the country leftward, without thinking that you may just be shoving us off the cliff.

In the meantime, you hate anyone who stands in the way of your goal, and Sarah Palin stands in the way, big time.

She has energized the base, and for countless conservative women who have been waiting for a female politician that speaks for us, she is our representitive to the world. We have been listening to the harpies on the Left who pretend to speak for us, and have been disheartened that no one stepped forward since Maggie Thatcher and Phyllis Schlafly to say what is on our minds.

Part of the reason that the Left has gone so insane over Palin is that they thought they had succeeded in intimidating and obfuscating conservative women into shutting up and letting them trample all over our wants and desires.

The dramatic swing of women over to the McCain/Palin camp is the evidence that proves that the Left has been lying about us all along.

Gibson is a moron
Article is right on target. Gibson was given a list of questions and did not know what the "Bush Doctrine" was. Look at his face when he tried to define it. MORON.

Governor Palin asked a simple question in response to a question with no context."In what respect?" Bush doctrine on education, NATO, prescription drug plans or how about all the support President Bush gave to stop the spread of AIDS in Africa, which was more than Clinton?

Gibson is another socialist/dem hack in the media.

A Response to Will from California
Nice Ad - hominem comments. You attempt to critique Dennis' comments, only to fall to the very level of Charlie Gibson. Your arguments don't hold water, e.g, "Take a friken freeken hike..." that's suppose to mean what? HOw does that clarify one's argument, let alone critique Dennis'?

Then you add, "you have become every bit as unbalanced and jaded and small-minded as your cohort Michael Medved..." referring to Gibson's questioning of Palin about the "Bush Doctrine." Where you error is the plain fact that Bush has never come out with a "Bush Doctrine." That is a term created by the Media, not Bush and not Bush's Administration! Moreover, the Media has, according to Wikpedia.com, come up with at least four different definitions of the "Bush Doctrine." To ask such a question without CLARIFYING is like grabbing mercury from a desktop. If the Media cannot clearly define it, why do you think anyone else would?

You finally accuse Dennis with the following: "BECAUSE YOU ARE EMOTIONALLY INVOLVED IN THE PALIN CANDIDACY and unable to properly, rationally asess)."

Actually, you are the one emotionally involved at this point. To use ad - hominems and to use statements like, "give me a freaking break," only reveals a person who cannot think of anything to combat the argument, so they attack the messenger.

Your arguments are mere sand castles on the beach called fallacy!

Give me a break!

Don't be so smug
Deniis writes:

I am as honest as you have ever been in your life Dennis.
1. Obama is a muslim
2. He did mean Sarah was a pig.
3. Obama is the biggest liar I have ever seen running for President.
And after Klinton, that is saying something.

Proof will doesn't read, he just spews
empyrius was castigasting conservatives you braindead idiot! Maybe if you read the entire post instead of just posting your vomit you would have relaized that.
Keep on spewing you sickening excuse for a mammal. If you are so disgusted GO AWAY!!!!
It is hilarious to hear YOU talking about rabid partisans. If that isn't the height of hypocrisy I don't know what is.
You are beyond pathetic.

Keith
I saw the Gibson interview a couple times. What I saw was a journalist who was trying to be tough and fair....not go "easy" on a politician with a great deal of baggage just because she is a woman. When you are emotionally invested in a McCain-Palin ticket, you will see almost supernaturally BEHIND the questions, look for intents, hidden meanings. The guy was just trying to be extremely professional and not play softball.

By the way, Sarah is doing Sean Hannity next. I can guanatee you this schmuck will be "leading" her (like a lawyer leads a witness) into giving us very soft, "personal" answers, almost like a Greta Van Sustren interview with Natalie Holloway's mom. Tough questions like the collapsing of the financial institutions may be lightly addressed, but not followed up on (after all, if he is seen as too "tough", there is a whole coterie of people ready to scream fowl!).

I can't wait till the VP debates. And "Meet the Press".

Advance republican talking point to Dennis Prager:
Remember, Dennis. The rule is: No matter HOW Sarah does in the debates, even if she is a complete flop, SHE WON! Got that? Just like GWB "won" that first debate he had with John Kerry. Just like John McCain gave a "better" convention speech than Obama.

So, are we on the same page, Dennis? Both Palin and McCain are the obvious "winners" in their respective debates NO MATTER WHAT ACTUALLY TAKES PLACE. Declare then winners hands-down and spin the rest.

In case you missed it
For anyone who may have missed it Charles Krauthammer had a column on the "Bush Doctrine" last Friday. It's posted on TH. He also laid waste to Gibson for not knowing what he was asking.

To Mountain Rose: Loved your post. Glad to see not everyone in CA is a looney toons. Go girl!

"politically", euphemism for lying
I mention this only because I want to assume that people of good will on both sides can still be honest about what transpires politically
=====

If a man who wants to be President of the United States and makes up lies about everything he is and has been, its still LYING.

And only another liar will excuse it and say no, that is not lying, its politics.
Hypocrites.

You have become too smug for me Dennis.
Now you think you are so smart you can intellectualize lying and excuse it by naming it politics.

Our elections have become a crude joke and no one is laughing.

Why are people on the left so angry?
I'm a registered democrat trying to decide who to vote for. I fit the democratic profile to a tee. I'm educated, work in the entertainment industry, am Jewish and female. Beyond the nauseating way that the media is unabashedly biased towards Obama, the main thing that I just can't get past is how angry the people on the left are. So hateful. What is going on here? I don't see anything even remotely like that coming from the right. I, too, saw the Charlie Gibson interview and was horrified by the way Charlie treated Sarah Palin. I was trying to learn more about Palin, but was too busy being shocked by his disdain for her. Palin actually shined. I was very impressed with her. Most people might have crumbled. Dennis, you hit the nail on the head. Thank you! I am now 100% convinced that McCain/Palin are the right choice!

p.s.
I'm from California!

ABC edits video to hame Palin
A partisan like will sees the world through a different lens.
Someone brain laundered like "empyrius" and "will" match well with the ABC MSM crowd.
No one can really trust the MSM to present news honestly.

"..ABC actually edited out some of Palin’s comments in her interview with Charles Gibson in an attempt to portray some of her views as outside the mainstream..."

Charlie Gibson and his researchers with preparation couldn't get the "Bush Doctrine" straight. Charlie Gibson and ABC are poor examples for journalism.

Ali
If you're from Cali, it makes no difference how you vote for president. Too many dems here. You know it and I know it. It's locked up. Move to Colorado or Nevada if you want to make an actual difference.

On the other hand
You are 100 percent right about Gibson and ABC Dennis

"We might call it the media's Gibson Doctrine: Confront Republicans, act obsequious toward tyrants."

Ali--well said
Don't listen to them. You make a difference!! Just remember, that Christians pray to a Jew every Sunday.
God Bless and have a great day.

Obligations.
Beside all the opinions of the usual suspects here, and also Prager's, is the actual problem: manipulating the media.

Yes, ladies and gentelmen, it is the obligation of every organization and institution to "own" the media. Since the 50s, the Democrats have been better at it than the Republicans.

We don't like that fact, but that's the fact -- all the rest is melodrama.

I find it interesting that the Mafia and the Mossad have gained, overall, pretty nice treatment from the media. So, you see, it can be done. Both these organizations know every man, and woman, has his price. The job is finding out what it is. Not very hard, really.

The failure usually comes from thinking "good will" exists in anything other than Charles Dicken's "A Christmas Carol."

With the press, it's all about their EGO
The MSM and their precious egos are at stake in this election.

The MSM are so sophisticated and intelligent that they know what is best for all of us underlings and have been trying to shove it down our throats for months, NO, YEARS! Manipulation is the name of the game here. They have been trying to MANIPULATE the people of America and the election toward the results they want; swinging the country to the socialist, Maxist left.....

If the MSM's manipulation and agenda fails in this election, their EGOS will be crushed. They are so much smarter than us you know and they know what is best. In the modern news economy they are irrelevant and deep down they know it.

Let us hope and pray that the election results will show, by a large margin, that the American people will not be duped by the media's candidate OR the media's outlandish attempts to manipulate the public!

Sarah's First Steps
A lot of republicans are trying to stick up for Sarah Palin, saying Charlie was biased, he tried to trap her, etc. Do you think her job will go easy on her? Do you think Putin is going to be empathetic to our favorite hockey mom? No. The answer is simply No. She is largely untested and this is her opportunity to prove herself to the American people and Republicans. Success or Fail, we all benefit by challenging her now, not later.

With the Charlie Gibson she stumbled a few times, scraped a few knees, perhaps embarrassed a few republicans. What could we expect. McCain the Maverick decided he wanted Sarah - as republicans we have to put faith in this decision, pray that is god's plan and let Sarah wander out of Alaska into the real world... a world full of nasty, baby killing democrats.

Is this still America?
I guess I am confused, I grew up being told that the news was the facts. You know, who, what, where and when..the facts mam, nothing but the facts. Reporters report the news, not color it to fit a personal agenda.I am so ashamed of the media and Charles Gibson tops my list today..I can't find the true news anymore. Thank goodness we can see the uncut attack. Do they think they can brain eash America? Or have they already? I guess we will know in November.

Will
Will certainly has his panties all in a bunch tonight. I like it when he forgets who he is, and tries to come out of the closet and be the evangelical he wants to be. Another few columns by Prager, and he just might make it. Anybody that is so rabidly anti-christian you know just needs a little more prodding to declare his beliefs in public.

will
" I saw the Gibson interview a couple times. What I saw was a journalist who was trying to be tough and fair....The guy was just trying to be extremely professional and not play softball."

Professional? Do you think it's professional for a journalist to ask a question about an obscure or ill-defined topic and not define it for the benefit of his AUDIENCE? Forget Palin; did Gibson really believe that the majority of people watching already knew what the Bush Doctrine is? Imagine if the interview had gone this way:

Gibson: Do you agree with the Bush Doctrine?
Palin: Oh, absolutely.

Be real for once, man. Would that have been a satisfactory exchange worthy of an interview on national television? Would most people have known what the heck they were talking about? Wouldn't you expect a veteran journalist like Gibson to explain it to the audience? Of course you would. But nooo, he played his coy little game, actually refusing to define it despite Palin's requests for clarification. Obviously, he didn't give a rat's @ss what Palin's views on the Bush Doctrine were, he was looking for the big Gotcha. Of course, he didn't have the cojones to just come out and ask her "Governor, do you know what the Bush Doctrine is?"

This is so blatantly obvious, that only someone who didn't want to see it, wouldn't. Or somebody very dumb.

The actual Bush Doctrine runs something
like this:

A bird in the hand is worth two in the...

Will, you wrote...
"I can't wait till the VP debates. And "Meet the Press."

Speaking of Meet the Press, did you see it Sunday? Schumer came off as a schmuck and Rudy hit it out of the park. I love it!

Palin will do just fine in the debates and on MTP.

And, be honest with us, will... what would your quick, spontaneous answer have been had you been asked (flat-footed and cold) what the Bush Doctrine is?

Boycott ABC
I'm so sick of this chattering class trying to prevail itself upon our political discourse. Let's hit 'em where it really hurts -- their pocketbooks.

And again
There is nothing, I mean NOTHING on Earth more hilarious than watching the dims shriek in impotent rage.

When Bush won the last election... ooh the unbridled fury! Hahah! I have never laughed so hard in my life! Not because I'm any big fan of Dubya, but Gawd!...I LOVE watching the libtards lose. Their foaming-at-the-mouth tantrums when they don't get their way is truly a joy to behold.

Now they bring forth the marxist messiah hussein endowed with the power to "lower the oceans", "cool the planet", and "heal our broken souls" HAHAHAH!!!!!

OH!...and further state that whoever doesn't vote for the arrogant do-nothing/done-nothing clown is a racist. Oh yeah! Good luck with that one.

This is just too good!

Keep slinging mud, fools. Keep viciously attacking this righteous beautiful woman. Your seething hatred for our Country and all things decent coupled with your despicable lust for power-at-any-cost is setting for yourselves a banquet of indescribably delicious defeat.

Savor it.

McCain/Palin 08

Pig Lipstick and Glasses
I would have guessed the Bush Doctrine was spreading peace through democracy. Has anyone asked the President what the Bush Doctrine is?

Fred Thompson is the first person I ever heard use the expression "lipstick on a pig" only I can't remember if he used it as Arthur Branch on a Law and Order re-run or during the Republican primary. Regardless, the folksy expression sounds right coming from Thompson's lips. It does not sound right coming from some hoity-toity arugula guy from Chicago so I have to believe someone from Team Obama told him to use it in reference to Palin and it was not ad libbed.

What I don't understand is why Gibson wears those glasses to do an interview. Since I never watch the national news on the lower channels, I have to ask - Has he worn those glasses to interview other people?

Hey Chuckles!
Check your keester! The needle-like pain is from TEETH and the bite radius matches that if a certain famous barracuda. Go Sarah! Go 'Cuda!!

Can we drop this subject already?
Look, even though I admire Sarah Palin, I'm the first one to admit that a foreign policy wonk she is not. It's not her strongest suit.

Sarah Palin didn't know what the controversy about the Bush Doctrine was all about. I know there is no "standard" definition of it, BUT that's what I would have told Charlie Gibson if he had asked me. Then I would have run through some of its various aspects (holding regimes responsible for terrorism, etc.).

Sarah Palin just didn't know any of this. Evidently she hasn't been reading TH.

There's really no need to spin this away. Presidents don't have to be walking encyclopedias. As Obama never tired of pointing out, judgment and executive know-how are what matter most in a President (till he got hoisted on his own petard).

Palin was total class...
while Gibson came off as the abject boor.

Palin came off as friendly, familiar and courteous in the face of Gibson's sneering contempt and condescension.

I think Sarah's capable of looking down the throat of any international thug with the same cool she might employ while rifle sighting in a wolf.

And Gibson? Just a toady of his leftist media masters who was quickly dispatched.

for will
will writes: "What I saw was a journalist who was trying to be tough and fair...."

Can you point me to even ONE interview of Obama that was that tough? Can you find the link on YouTube?

WHY...
did the McCain advisors allow this Gibson gas bag to interview Sarah Palin? I watched this Gibson scumbag once or twice years ago and his credentials as a man of the extreme left was so obvious I resolved then never to allow his stupid mug on my TV. Any idiot would have said NO to this or any interview!

From the way Sarah was savaged in the media from the get-go, and KNOWING that Gibson is one of the most disgusting MSM socialist talkingheads, WHY was he allowed near Sarah? It was obvious that NO MATTER what she said, what she did, the fascist "press corps" were going to beat up on her.

The best strategy was and is to not allow any interviews with her, not with Hannity, not with - specially not with - the Fox resident gas bag O'Reilly. Let her get ready for the debate with Biden which she will win. Meanwhile the press keeps spinning and self-destructing to the delight of all honest Americans.

Death to the Main Stream Media!

Has Obama ever been grilled like that?
Has Obama EVER been grilled by any journalist the way Gibson grilled Sarah Palin? With rapid-fire "lightning round" questions on highly detailed subjects?

I'd sure like to see the video of it.

Will
Mr. Prager is right. Gibson exposed himself as a partisan fraud rather than a serious journalist. He even edited the interview prior to airing it, and, when compared to the original transcript, it is obvious that the editing was a deliberate attempt to make Palin look bad. Didn't work though. None of the leftists' pathetic attacks on this classy lady are working because she is the real deal. What we see is what she is, not the phony veneer that is BHO. The Palin phenomenon has exposed the MSM's leftist bias like nothing I can ever remember. They are fast becoming irrelevant. It sure is fun to watch!

The Gibson (and MSM) Doctrine
Charley Gibson's mean interrogation of Gov. Palin illustrates that the shibboleth, "Thou shalt not beat up on blacks," is stronger than the one, "Thou shalt not beat up on females." Barack Obama's paper-thin resume and his radical associations remain untouched by any hallowed member of the 4th Estate. O'Reilly took a stab at it, then quickly retreated, challenging Obama to a one-on-one basketball game.

This pass card that the MSM automatically is giving Obama because he's BLACK for God's sake puts all of us in mortal danger. The Islamists, Russia and China don't grant such passes. They'll eat him (and us) alive.

Palin
Until I see her willing to face the general press and not a "hand picked" one like Charlie Gibson, who I don't watch on a regular basis, I'll withhold a final judgment. It does concern me that she will not honor the subpoena in Alaska!!! This is sounding more like the current leadership. She may fit the GWB mold better than John McCain I will be praying that McCain lives out his term if elected until I know more about Palin.

Gibson interview
I started to watch the interview and I knew within the first 2 minutes the position Gibson was on. The distain he must have had, having to talk to a Republican, and a female at that.
It is quite something when journalists like Gibson spout Bush's doctrine, but just can't seem to figure out to put it to words. Tongue tied or actual ignorance, which do you suppose Gibson was.
Needless to say I turned the television when I saw the writing on the wall. Did the fly swat the one doing the swatting?

Charlie
I use to like him. MSM has claimed another good person. He now is an old has been. He came across as a Big Jerk ! Palin showed great control under the circumstances.

Charlie
I use to like him. MSM has claimed another good person. He now is an old has been. He came across as a Big Jerk ! Palin showed great control under the circumstances.

Thank you Dennis!
For calling out Charlie Gibson. His disdain for Palin appeared boundless. Now can we get rid of O'Reilly's so called "body expert." Her "assesment" of the interview was equally bereft of the obvious--choosing to pick apart her perceptions of Palin, rather than the charlatan of Charlie.

To Don
Don, don't worry, Palin has better roots than McCain, Obama and Biden combined!

Two Swindles
Barack Obama's implicit message in lieu of any executive experience is:

"I'm black and you people mistreated blacks for hundreds of years. You owe us--and me--big time."

His campaign solely relies on the guilt that contemporary Americans are supposed to feel about slavery.

His is a con game--and swindle--that completely surpasses Al Gore's Global Warming myth, both designed to force Americans to reorder our lives the Marxist way.

Dems kick Republicans, kiss Tyrants
If Democrats took on tyrants the way they take on Republicans, they'd win a lot more elections.

will and sado-masochism.
Will continually savages the conservative writers only to receive the well-deserved vituperation of his conservative betters. Kabuki theater. Will is being paid to do this. That can be the only reason that makes any sense of it.

A$$-U-ME
And how many times are the American people supposed to 'assume' 'A$$-U-ME' that b.H.obama didn't mean what he said (or wrote).
"I'm not experienced enough to run for the Presidency"--(answer to question prior to running)--Opps
"I never heard" (wright)--Opps
"I wasn't there when he said"--(wright)--Opps

So, I assume one can put 'lipstick' on 'ASSUME', but it's still is spelled "A$$-U-ME'.
And if you, Mr. Prager and so many other Americans continue to 'assume' b.H.obama doesn't mean what he says (or has written) he has a gigantic new and improved 'Bridge to Nowhere' to sell you.

WAR, FORTUNE AND JOHN MCCAIN
War is a source of good fortune for John McCain. If it weren't for the Vietnam War, the Iraq War and the troop surge McCain would not be running for President.

Another war that has helped McCain was the Russo-Georgia War fought on the ominous date of August 8th-ominous for the Obama campaign (see my "Indispensable Hillary Clinton")-as his realistic view of the treacherous Vladimir Putin has served to enhance his image as a man of sound judgment in world affairs.

Futhermore, what is likely to clinch the presidency for McCain are the upcoming debates, the most crucial of which, I believe, will be the second. For this debate falls on October 7th the 7th anniversary of the bombing of Afghanistan, the day the "War "on Terror" began. War works for John McCain and October 7th could prove a decisive day in McCain's battle for the presidency.

Marxist ABC and GIBSON-Perfect together
Right On. One has to expect this from a Marxist, Islamofacist Gibson on a Marxist media stations like ABC,CBS NBC CNN.

Dennis Preager did not say what information he used to determine that Hussein Che Obama is not a Muslim in Christian Clothing.

How about this?
Charlie Gibson acted like a fool.

If we elected people like Sarah Palin to the Congress, what a better country we would have. She is exactly the kind of person our founding fathers intended to serve. She understands kitchen table issues. She is not wealthy. She is not a lawyer.

We need to encourage ordinary people (who often do extraordinary things) to serve in congress. It works for the military.

Television news? You must be joking
Your article highlights why I can't remember the last time I viewed any news programming on television. For at least 5 years now, I have received all of my news from various internet sites. It's no wonder that television news execs are wringing their hands as they continue to lose millions of viewers to the internet. With the likes of Gibson, Couric, Williams, et.al., things will continue to deteriorate.

Charlie Gibson
And he "suprised" America exactly how? -KJ

"Tough and Fair"???
For any thinking that Gibson was merely being "tough and fair" I invite you to go back and look at the questions he asked Obama. Compare and contrast: "Who will be your VP?" with "Should the Ukraine and Georgia enter NATO?" Fair? He treated Obama like a celebrity and was practically congratulating him on winning the election already!

Response to ApolloSpeaks
"campaign insights"?? You call that load of sh** campaign insights? You claim that war is good for McCain. You know what else you could offer in your "insights"? Here's a few:

"Poor people are good for Obama"
"Stupid people are good for Obama"
"Biased reporting is good for Obama"
"Welfare is good for Obama"
"Wealth envy is good for Obama"
"Defeat in any and all militart engagements are good for Obama"
"A bad economy is good for Obama"

Without those things, Obama wouldn't stand a chance. Add those to your "campaign insights"

Obama on being a Muslim
Sen. Obama Says The ‘Prettiest Sound On Earth At Sunset’ Is The Muslim Call To Prayer

Obama aka Barry Soetoro attended Muslim school in the Indonesian language, which he still speaks.

“I was a little Jakarta street kid,” he said in a wide-ranging interview in his office He once got in trouble for making faces during Koran study classes in his elementary school, but a president is less likely to stereotype Muslims as fanatics — and more likely to be aware of their nationalism — if he once studied the Koran with them.

http://select.nytimes.com/2007/03/06/opinion/06kristof.html ?_r=2&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

Mr. Obama recalled the opening lines of the Arabic call to prayer, reciting them with a first-rate accent. In a remark that seemed delightfully uncalculated, Mr. Obama described the call to prayer as “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset.”

You can listen to Obama's prettiest sound at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NMBYF1LZ3FI

Liberals, just SHUT UP
What we have been seeing on the national media for several months is that Obama is the "New" Messiah. he can part waters, walk on water and no matter what he says is the gospel. WRONG!~! Obama's claim to fame was community organizer. That's community agitator with ACORN behind it. Look it up. Actually, Gov Palin HAS executive experience with day to day decision making experience that neither Sen McCain nor EITHER of the Democrats candidates. I find it very strange that the media and the liberals are all questioning the experience of Gov Palin who, by the way, is running as the VICE-Presidential candidate and not asking the same questions of Sen Osama Obama. No, the press won't ask him, especially not the wimpy Charlie Gibson's or ABC (Always Blasting Conservatives) or CNN (Cunningly Naive Nobody's), etc, etc. The Liberals have the media under their control. The Liberals have the Democratic party under their control. The Liberals have THEIR candidates under their control. Why is NO one in the media questioning Osama Obama the tough questions, like "What specifically was any major bill of piece of legislation have you passed through the Illinois legislature or in Congress?" He hasn't and in fact voted "Present" a number of times. See, when that 3:00AM call arrives in a Osama Obama Presidency, he will pick the phone up and say "Present" and promptly go back to sleep in Never-Never Land because Allah is in charge of things. Its just killing all these Liberals because the Conservatives are finally speaking up and saying - "SHUT UP." Liberals, just SHUT UP!~!

Gibson as Humpty Dumpty
Charlie Gibson is obviously a devotee of Lewis Carroll.
"When I use a word," Humpty Dumpty said, in rather a scornful tone, "it means just what I choose it to mean—neither more nor less."
"The question is, " said Alice, "whether you can make words mean so many different things."
"The question is," said Humpty Dumpty. "which is to be master—that's all."
"Through the Looking Glass"

Does'nt matter
what the egghead DSM (downstream media) does now........Nobama's momentum has been stopped in its tracks and his ascendency to the POTUS derailed........By adding a woman to the ticket, McCain did what the DemoRats would NOT do......and it has assured a Republican win in November...

Gibson was obvious in his contempt of Gov. Palin.....

When major news medium becomes a propaganda tool for special interests to promote their agendas, it is no longer a "free press". This perhaps COULD be the BIGGEST story of this election year, that is, how the American MSM has lost its reporting credibility and can no longer be trusted!

Goebbels would be proud..........

Gibson Doctrine
Great writing

Oh and a comment to "Will" who ever it/he/she/they is. Gibson isn't a man at all. he's just proven that. He's a very small person, with a very big ego. He didn't get away with what the MSM has been getting away with for years and may never again I hope, lies and half truths.

charlie was small, mean and ugly
"in what regard, charlie?" she was right and he was mean he was very UGLY and he came off small and he has totally lost my respect. she on the other hand handled it. she can not only see russia, she can see charlie small ball. i am angry at him.

The Founding Fathers are turning over
in their graves. To have the "Free Press" guaranteed in the Constitution abused like this is a total disgrace to the whole idea of an impartial/free press.

So when is the Federal Election Commission (FEC) going to put a total stop to the partisan MSM? The MSM is being abused as a political contribution to the Demoncrats, where is the equal time?...I'm WAITING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Will
I think you might be surprised when the California vote is cast. Can you say Bradley Effect.

Also, there might just be a huge turnout of Hispanics against BHO. Historically, first and second generation Mexican-Americans have a bias against African-Americans. Now look at how many MA's are being registered in our state.

Don't count your chickens you hate-filled nut-case.

Gov Palin's interview with Gibson
Charlie Gibson obviously was talking down to Gov Palin thinking she would get confused and not able to answer under pressure; just as Obama knew when he talked about "lipstick on a pig" he was alluding to Gov Palin calling attention to Gov Palin without saying her name. Everyone who was listening knew what he was referring to and some thought it was funny, but it won't be so funny on election day esp for the Democrats.

Will
I love how Will says “Preach your Rapture and Armageddon and your End Times somewhere else.” Um, earth to Will in case you’re not intelligent enough to have caught on by now, this is a conservative site so YOU take YOUR crap somewhere else.

Will, calm down, take a deep breathe, chill out, open a window & get some air.

Apollo Speaks
"War is a source of good fortune for John McCain. If it weren't for the Vietnam War, the Iraq War and the troop surge McCain would not be running for President."

You know this how?

Real leaders rise to the circumstances presented.

Dennis Prager
First of all, the screeching about Charlie Gibson's interview is a tacit admission that Palin failed miserably in the interview. Asking her interpretation of the Bush Doctrine is unfair? Boo Hoo! If you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen. We, the American people, have a right to know if this woman is qualified to lead the nation. The only way we can know is if she stands up to tough questioning from skeptics. (Like Obama has for the last 20 months.)

And she is clearly not qualified for the job.

The proof was when she responded "His world view?"

World view? His world view could be that he's a Christian, or a Christian Conservative, of Judeo-Christian values... something like that. Which is totally unrelated to The Bush Doctrine.

Her answer revealed that she had never HEARD of The Bush Doctrine. I'm a house painter in Minneapolis, but I listen to talk radio and watch the Sunday Morning Political shows so I have heard of the Bush Doctrine. I knew it generally referred to the use of pre-emptive strikes. If Charlie Gibson had asked me that question, I would've said "You mean the idea of preemptive strikes?" And then I would've said something about when preemptive strikes are appropriate, and when they are not.

I would not consider that question unfair. I would understand that it's all part of the vetting process. People, understandably, want to know if I've been paying attention to the various political debates over the last decade or so.

Palin needs to do a lot more interviews. If she doesn't, we'll all know it because she can't handle tough questions.

Phylo out.

It seems to me
if Gibson wanted to be fair he would have been doing interviews like that all along on both sides of the aisle. Don't give that tired line that Gibson was tough on Obama earlier...that was a Democratic Primary debate, so it was in Gibson's interest to be tough as a Democrat, just as it was in his interest to be dishonest with Palin.

The irony of all this is the so called Bush Doctrine is media created and even the media doesn't understand it.

Phylo
Apparently then you also do not know the Bush Doctrine. It consists of four planks and is not a doctrine at all.

Do you know what defines a doctrine?

Keep it up, Charlie Gibson
Who doesn't love it when the media misbehaves so badly? This is one more instance of them UNDER-estimating the American public, of thinking that their slanted and biased behavior is going to influence the public to vote the way they, the liberal mainstream media, want.

And of course, it has just the opposite affect. And in that process, the American public just gets a better and closer look at the media icons for what they are -- biased, non-journalistic "entertainers" who unfortunately have a large platform through which they think they can sway public opinion. And that's ALL they are. Which, when you get to do it, is simply a mouthy entertainer, much like Streisand and Rosie. Hmmmm. Charlie, Babs and Rosie -- doesn't have quite the catchiness of Peter, Paul & Mary.

Squawk. Polley want a cracker
Squawk, Squawk. Polly want a cracker

MSM. MSM. Bias against the conservatives. Liberals are Commies. We are the true Conservatives. Democraps did it. Clinton did it. Republicans are the party of GOD. Squawk. Polley want a cracker. It’s not or fault! Democrats did it. Squawk.

Main-Stream-Media bias. New York Times!!! Squawk. Washington Post! Squawk. Republicans are fair and balanced. Squawk. New York Times. Squawk.

Clinton did it. Not the Republicans fault!! Squawk. Polley wants a cracker because Polley is a elite-left-wing-socialist that lives on welfare and reads the New York Times. Squawk.

To amplify and coalesce comment #66
Anything BAD for America is GOOD for Dimocrats...never forget that!

SO who do you want running this country?

Excellent
That's all. Excellent. Damn excellent.

Nice Monday morning quarterbacking
"I knew it generally referred to the use of pre-emptive strikes. If Charlie Gibson had asked me that question, I would've said "You mean the idea of preemptive strikes?"

Nice try, but I thought the Bush "doctrine" was promoting democracy anywhere and everywhere we can. So who's right? There is no concrete "Bush doctrine" and I guess he should have asked Obama what the "Bush doctrine" was since he's running for President. That is the proof that it was a "gotcha" question, he wouldn't dare pose that same question to Obama. It's a question in which the answer will always be wrong when it is answered by a conservative.

Hilarious!
Here we have a liberal (an ilk FAMOUS for repetition of partisan talking points) insinuating that MSM bias is phoney and conservatives are parrots! Did you think of that all on your own or did your mommy help you?

Don Juan
I was talking about what the press has become. I expect the press to be even handed and take every politician apart...but to have the press fawn over Obama and worship him while trashing his opposition is a disgrace. Anyone that thinks what the MSM is doing is OK is an idiot!
