Most people who value the right to keep and bear arms aren't exactly fooled by Kamala Harris.
While she may or may not be president tomorrow morning, the truth of the matter is that we know that she's not someone to trust with our Second Amendment rights. She says she'll protect them, but then in the same breath vows to destroy them.
That's not hyperbole, either. That's from her own (digital) mouth.
I am a gun owner, and I believe we can protect the Second Amendment while also passing gun safety laws.

We need to reinstate the assault weapons ban and pass universal background checks, safe storage laws, and red flag laws to keep our children and communities safe. pic.twitter.com/1863BArzk1
I have doubts as to whether Harris is really a gun owner, but for the sake of argument, I'll take her claim at face value.
However, you can't sit there and say you're going to protect the Second Amendment by instituting a gun ban, telling people how they have to store guns in their homes, and creating a law that not only takes guns from people but does it without proper due process rights.

The assault weapon ban is particularly insidious because one of the major pushes is for the GOSAFER Act, which is a bill that would try to ban so-called assault weapons by targeting the operating system instead of the "evil features" that most previous bans have gone after. Those earlier bans were stupidly ineffective because you could just modify those features or remove them entirely--they included things like bayonet lugs or collapsable stocks--and push through.
But if you target the operating system, you run into bigger problems. After all, so-called assault weapons are really just semi-automatic rifles. The operating system is the same kind you find in most popular handguns and will see in many hunting rifles and shotguns.
So just how is she going to protect the Second Amendment when that likely means banning the most popular firearms in this country?
I'd tell you how important it is to get out and vote to keep this delusional person away from the Oval Office, but you likely already know. You know how dangerous this is.
Then we have the potential mandatory storage law that doesn't allow any leeway for individual circumstances and ignores the many cases where young people who had been properly trained in how to use a firearm had access to one and that access allowed them to protect human life, often their own.
Universal background checks aren't going to stop criminals from getting guns, either. We know that criminals aren't buying them from law-abiding citizens just trying to unload some old guns and get a few bucks to help with the bills. No, that's only going to make it just that much more difficult for people to sell their own guns and allow the government to set up a de facto gun registry. If every gun being bought or sold has to go through an FFL, there's a paper trail. In time, expect some effort to digitize not just the ATF's records from defunct gun stores but the records of all FFL holders.
At that point, it's a registry.
Plus, let's remember, this is where Harris is starting. This is her Day One agenda on guns. Don't think for a moment that she'd stop at this. When it doesn't work--and it won't--she'll just double down and call for more restrictions.
In short, there's no way she's protecting the Second Amendment unless you really buy into the whole "I have to burn the village to save the village" mentality.
