Young America's Foundation -- "the nation’s premier organization for educating conservative students on college campuses" -- announced on Monday that President Ron Robinson will step down after 42 years at the helm of the organization. Robinson will be replaced by former Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker.

"Gov. Walker and YAF recognize that the assault on young conservative voices has brought us to a pivotal point in our nation’s cultural war and has led to the troubling rise of young people’s favor of socialism," the group told Townhall in an exclusive statement.

"Gov. Walker is committed to YAF’s 50-year history of building up the next generation of conservatives, and continuing his focus in the trenches fighting for freedom of speech for young conservatives on college campuses," a spokesperson added.

YAF's impact on American discourse and politics cannot be overstated. As Secretary of Education Betsy Devos told an audience this past May, "It’s hard to imagine a conservative movement without Young America’s Foundation. There are quite a few folks who like to claim the 'conservative' mantle, but they weren’t there when it all started nearly 60 years ago in William F. Buckley Jr.’s living room."

Gov. Walker praised YAF and President Reagan's speech "A Time For Choosing" in 2014, saying, "You can give that speech today, not tell people who it was, just play it, play the audio,  and I think people would find it just as compelling today as it was the day he gave it."

Gov. Walker served as the 45th Governor of Wisconsin from 2011 to 2019.
