The Griffin family was in for quite the surprise this past Tuesday when their matriarch, Falon, birthed their daughter in a Chik-Fil-A restaurant.
Apparently, Falon and her husband, Robert, were dropping off their two other children with family friends as she went into labor. The family met their friends at a Chik-Fil-A parking lot since it was on the way to University Hospital in Texas. But, the mother desperately needed to go to the bathroom and convinced the Chik-Fil-A employees to open the closed restaurant to allow her to use the lavatories.
Suddenly, while in the building, Falon knew what was about to happen. The pain was unbearable as she let out a scream. Their newborn baby was on her way.
“I’m about to dial 911, I open the door and she’s just screaming,” Brenda Enriquez, the Chick-fil-A store director, told the media.
Robert came rushing in and delivered the baby himself. The proud father has no medical experience.
“I can see just the top of Gracelyn’s head, just barely crowning, but I knew we couldn’t go anywhere,” Robert said. “So I told [Falon], ‘Sweetie, we’re gonna do something great, and we’re gonna do it right here and we’re gonna do it right now.’”
But, Robert noticed the umbilical cord was wrapped around the child’s neck. “[I] didn’t want to alert my wife,” Robert wrote in a Facebook post. “So [I] just told her, ‘Try to relax for a minute,’ and I was somehow able to unwrap the cord from the baby’s neck.”
Paramedics arrived 15 minutes later and rushed the family to the hospital. The baby, named Gracelyn Mae Violet Griffin, is now healthy in the hospital. Apparently, her birth certificate lists Chik-Fil-A as the place of birth. "Her birth certificate reads 'Born in Chick-Fil-A' and The hospital had me sign the birth certificate as the attending physician," the Facebook reads.
The Griffins, by the way, are proud Trump supporters. Her father noted the irony of a conservative family having a baby in arguably the most conservative restaurant chain in America. "I thinks it’s pretty ironic that a proud conservative, Christian family would have a baby in a Chick-Fil-A, and wrapped in a Trump 2020 T-shirt! BOOM #maga #mywifesthebest #chickfila #texas????#chickfilababy."
The restaurant franchise owner told media that "baby Gracelyn will get free Chick-fil-A for life, and has guaranteed her a job when she turns 16."
