President-elect Donald Trump visited Arlington National Cemetery to honor the nation’s fallen heroes in one of his final pre-inauguration events. The somber occasion marked a moment of reflection as Trump paid his respects at the hallowed grounds, symbolizing his commitment to the nation's veterans and military families. The visit, attended by a small group of close associates, was a fitting tribute as the country prepares for his second term, underscoring his focus on national security and respect for the armed forces.

In a surprising move that captured global attention, Trump invited a wounded warrior to lay a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery on Sunday. During his visit, he also paid his respects at the graves of three U.S. soldiers who were tragically killed in the botched Afghanistan withdrawal—an incident Trump has consistently blamed on the Biden administration's mishandling of the situation.

While touring Section 60 at the cemetery, the president-elect paused at the graves of the three fallen soldiers, taking a moment to speak with their grieving families. The soldiers—Darin T. Hoover and Nicole L. Gee of the Marine Corps and Ryan C. Knauss of the Army—were killed during the August 26, 2021, terrorist attack as they worked to evacuate people from Kabul.

At his side, Vice President-elect JD Vance gained national applause for praying after laying a wreath at Arlington National Cemetery.

Watching from a distance during the visit were Trump’s wife, Melania, and four of his children: Don Jr., Eric, Ivanka, and Tiffany. Several of Trump’s Cabinet picks were also present, including Pete Hegseth, nominated for Secretary of Defense; Marco Rubio, his choice for Secretary of State; and Tulsi Gabbard, his choice for Director of National Intelligence.
