No other state parades itself on being woke more than California. The Golden State’s leaders tout themselves for running a progressive paradise and making it a sanctuary state for illegal aliens and transgender people.
However, one California conservative town is sticking it to the state’s liberal policies.
Huntington Beach has decided to axe “Pride Month” and “Black History Month” and instead celebrate the town’s historic achievements.
In a recent city council 4-3 vote, February’s “Black History Month” will be replaced with “We Love Our Libraries” in 2024. The town will celebrate the “history of Independence Day” in June rather than “Pride Month.”
The program stresses the importance of the California town being free from “any identity politics and political agendas.”

Council member Casey McKeon said that the changes will help bring unity back to the community and make residents aware of the city’s history, which is “designed to honor the rich, historical heritage of not only Huntington Beach but the United States and California as well.”
“Myself, as a third-generation Huntington Beach resident, I’ve just been amazed to learn how much of our rich history that I was unaware of, and I can only imagine that the majority of our residents are unaware of as well,” McKeon said. “That was essentially the genesis for this calendar of historically themed months … the monthly celebrations [now] are fragmented, inconsistent, and relatively unorganized within the departments.”
Huntington Beach, also known as “Surf City USA,” has previously opposed the Left-wing agenda on several woke policies such as mask and vaccine mandates, beach closures during the COVID-19 pandemic, and mandatory low-income housing.
According to new data, California residents are fleeing the state in droves to move to more Republican-led, family-friendly states.
The U.S. Census Bureau found that 1 in every five people, about 184,000 people, have fled California for Arizona due to its high cost of living and Leftist policies such as welcoming illegal migrants into the state with open arms. The data also found that only 42,279 people moved from Texas to California and 28,557 from Florida to California. On the contrary, 50,701 people moved from California to Florida, and 102,442 moved from California to Texas.
