AZ Sen: Mark Kelly Stands by Biden on Misconduct Allegations

Arizona Democratic candidate for Senate, Captain Mark Kelly, joined the crowd of establishment Democrats standing behind Joe Biden, while the former vice president faces sexual misconduct allegations, on Thursday.

In a radio interview with KTAR News, Kelly said that those who make such allegations should be heard:

"I strongly believe that everybody deserves to be heard and needs to be heard and that these allegations should be looked into. You know, these are often very complicated issues and I think it's really important that the person who's making these allegations has an opportunity to state the case and then have it looked into,” Kelly said.

Even still, Kelly affirmed that he will still support Biden in November, after originally endorsing the former vice president in early March:

“I’ve known Vice President Biden for a long time...I think he has the right experience and leadership ability, what our country needs right now. So I’m gonna vote for him in November.”

Kelly has spent much of his Senate bid, hoping to unseat GOP incumbent Sen. Martha McSally (R-AZ), claiming to be “independent” of the Democratic establishment, as the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) notes:

"Mark Kelly likes to say he's 'independent,' yet once again he's proving he has nothing but blind allegiance for his Democratic Party," said NRSC spokesperson Joanna Rodriguez. "It doesn't matter what the issue is, Kelly's loyalty lies solely with Washington Democrats and whatever they need him to do or say."

Kelly also claimed ignorance of the documents related to Biden’s 36 year career in the Senate, which may or may not corroborate Tara Reade’s claims, that are currently hidden from the public.
