YouGov Poll Shows Warren as Favorite for VP Pick

A new YouGov poll asked Democratic voters their preferences for the vice presidential tap. Frontrunner and presumptive nominee, former Vice President Joe Biden, vowed to select a woman to run alongside him if he clinches the party’s nomination:

“If I'm elected president, my cabinet, my administration will look like the country and I commit that I will, in fact, appoint a, pick a woman to be vice president,” Biden said on the debate stage last week.

The poll results indicate that Biden’s promise is popular among Democrats, with 80 percent saying they would favor a woman on the ticket.

The most popular choice for vice president among both male and female respondents was Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA):

Biden’s promise, although popular, backs the former vice president into a corner for picking a running mate. The Democratic primary originated with six women, and Sen. Warren was the last viable, female candidate standing in the race. Sen. Warren has yet to endorse former Vice President Biden or Sen. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) for president after she exited the race. Sen. Warren feuded with both Biden and Sanders throughout the primary.

Despite popularity among Democratic voters in this poll, a ticket with Sen. Warren as the vice presidential hopeful will give the Trump re-election campaign unlimited ad material, given Sen. Warren’s abhorrent history of lying for political gain.
