We’ll see what happens tonight, but for most of the week—the country has been engulfed in flames. Cities from coast to coast have been ravaged by rioting, looting, and destruction of property. It’s all over the horrific death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis Police. Floyd was arrested on a false document charge, handcuffed, and then died when ex-Officer Derek Chauvin knelt on the back of his neck. Floyd can be heard crying out that he couldn’t breathe. Chauvin and three other officers who were present were fired. Chauvin has been charged with third-degree murder and manslaughter charges. The FBI and the Department of Justice, at the order of President Trump, are also looking into this matter.
Still, that didn’t quell hordes of lefty troublemakers from torching Minneapolis. The Democratic leadership at the state and local level has been a joke. They surrendered portions of the city to be destroyed. Our own Julio Rosas is there documenting the chaos. It’s not just Minneapolis.
Looting, vandalism, and arson have been hallmark characteristics of these George Floyd protests. This could have been an opportunity to bring some changes to policing, especially a review of the Minneapolis Police Department and its neighboring law enforcement partners because there is an issue in the area. Floyd isn’t the only controversial officer-involved fatality. There was Philando Castile and Justine Damond as well. There should have been protests, but it’s now just rioting.
Even in smaller cities like Rochester, New York, there’s rioting and looting. We have a video here that reportedly captures a husband and wife being beaten by a group of rioters. At first, this video was posted to Reddit , so take it with a grain of salt, but new video appears to confirm that this was a couple in Rochester who was beaten trying to defend their business. The violence in it is still sickening.

In Dallas, Elijah Schaffer of The Blaze captured a vicious beating of a man who was nearly killed reportedly trying to defend local business. Armed with a sword he foolishly charged into the crowd of rioters and was quickly overwhelmed. He was brutally beaten, with one rioter hitting him with his skateboard. Luckily, he survived but with serious injuries.

Rochester is no stranger to civil unrest. In Juley of 1964, the city had a race riot over police brutality, which prompted the National Guard to be deployed and at least 1,000 people arrested during the two-day ordeal.
As of today, some 200 New York State Police Officers have been dispatched to help Rochester Police bring back law and order to the streets (via Democrat and Chronicle):
200 New York state troopers have been called in to help maintain law and order in Rochester Sunday night during another period of curfew, said Mayor Lovely Warren at a press briefing at Frontier Field.
13 arrests have been made so far in relation to the events of Saturday night said Rochester police chief La'Ron Singletary, " and there will be more, there will be more." The charges included burglary and obstruction of justice, Singletary said.
Mayor Warren doubled down on her remarks Saturday about the role of outsiders in instigating much of the widespread property damage seen across the city.
“These people set a trap, and our community fell in it,” said Warren “And last night it was our community that destroyed our neighborhoods.”
Warren said that the destruction, which gutted many services and businesses used by black families “... was very organized, and our people jumped on board and fell for the bait,” and that grandmothers, mothers and children would now suffer because of the loss of access to stores.
The publication added that volunteers have shown up in droves to help clean up the mess. We’ll see what happens later when the sun goes down.
