Former Trump campaign official Paul Manafort has been sent home from prison due to the threat of Wuhan coronavirus. Fox News has the story:
"He is on his way home on home confinement. He will be with his wife in [Virginia]. He is obviously relieved," Manafort attorney Todd Blanche told Fox News on Wednesday.
Before being sentenced to 7.5 years in federal prison, Manafort was put on house arrest while waiting for his trial. During that time, he was charged with witness tampering in addition to the slew of felonies handed down by Special Counsel Robert Mueller.
In April 2018, a federal jury in Virginia found Manafort guilty of eight felony counts ranging from tax evasion, bank fraud, wire fraud and more. The other ten charged counts were declared a mistrial after the jury couldn't come to a conclusion.
In December, Manafort was hospitalized but his medical condition was not released.
President Trump's critics are already decrying the move, despite prisons across the country releasing thousands of non-violent offenders during the pandemic.
