White House Deputy Press Secretary Judd Deere took to Twitter to criticize CNN for their handling of a story about the number of deaths related to the ongoing Wuhan coronavirus pandemic and how they ignored a statement he had sent to the network.
Deere said he had confirmation from people who worked at CNN that they received the statement he released about how the document from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, which projected a higher death toll from the novel virus, was not a "new internal document" from the White House and it was not a forecast, but rather to help them with "scenario planning."
CNN's Erin Burnett had reported the White House is projecting 3,000 Americans will die every day starting in early June from the coronavirus.

Deere said despite being provided the critical context, CNN chose the path of "spreading misinformation," which is "only meant to cause panic."

CNN was also called out by President Trump's re-election campaign for only being given seven minutes to respond to a story from CNN before they published the piece.
