Earlier this week Minority Leader Steny Hoyer announced House members would travel back to Washington in order to be in session, alongside the Senate, on May 4. He then abruptly announced members will not come back to work, citing health and safety concerns.

But Republican Congressman Jim Jordan isn't buying it.
"States are reopening, why won't Congress? Farmers are planting crops. Truckers are moving goods. Grocers are stocking shelves and frontline healthcare workers have never stopped. They've been working every single day throughout this crisis but somehow the U.S. Congress can't go back to work," Jordan said. "Let's get back in session."
"I don't know why we aren't back doing the work of the American people, it seems like that's exactly where [Washington D.C.] we should be but unfortunately, Nancy Pelosi won't call us back," he continued.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell made a similar statement Monday and reconfirmed senators will be back at work next week.
"If it is essential for doctors, nurses, healthcare workers, truck drivers, grocery-store workers, and other brave Americans to keep carefully manning their duty stations, then it is essential for Senators to carefully man ours and support them. We are reconvening next week," McConnell reiterated.
