Three people were injured during a knife attack in London on Sunday. Police are describing the stabbings as a "terrorist-related" incident. The attacker was reportedly a known terrorist who had recently been released from prison after serving time on terror-related charges. He was shot dead on scene by police officer who had been monitoring the suspect's activities.
The attack occurred in south London in the Streatham suburb. Reports suggest a man stabbed two individuals shortly before armed officers arrived on scene and killed the suspect. A statement from Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Lucy D'Orsi says the armed officers were part of a proactive Counter Terrorism operation and were "in immediate attendance." The man had a device strapped to his body that police have since determined to be a hoax.
Three victims were then treated for the injuries, and one is reportedly "in a life-threatening condition." One of these individuals reportedly suffered injuries from broken glass that resulted after the policemen opened fire.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan called the attack a "terrorism-related" incident in a statement, adding, "Terrorists seek to divide us and destroy our way of life - here in London we will never let them succeed."

In Nov. 2019, another knife-wielding terrorist stabbed five people on the London Bridge, killing two of them, before he was killed by police. In that incident, the knifeman was also a known terrorist who had recently been released from prison where he was serving time for terror-related charges.
Maybe releasing known terrorists who the police have to follow around all day isn't such a great strategy after all.
