How Biden Used the Video of NATO Leaders Talking About Trump Behind His Back in a New Ad

In a new video, Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden used footage of NATO leaders talking about President Trump behind his back to make the case that he’s viewed as “dangerously incompetent and incapable of world leadership.”

The video shows Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, and French President Emmanuel Macron, among others, mocking Trump over a lengthy impromptu press conference he held this week during the NATO summit. News anchors discussing the footage plays in the background.

"The world sees Trump for what he is: Insincere, ill-informed and corrupt...dangerously incompetent and incapable, in my view, of world leadership," Biden says in the ad.

"We need a leader the world can respect," the ad concludes.

This, mind you, coming from a candidate who makes daily gaffes, displays some very weird behavior, and has often incoherent responses both on the debate stage and campaign trail. Plus, since he's talking about respect among world leaders, it's probably not a good look to be wrong “on nearly every major foreign policy and national security issue over the past four decades." That, of course, coming from Robert Gates, who served as President Obama’s defense secretary.

While liberals heaped praise on Biden over the ad, conservatives weren't impressed.
