WATCH: Daughter of Assassinated NYPD Police Officer Remembers Her Mother

Genesis Villela, the daughter of Miosotis Familia, the NYPD officer who was assassinated in her patrol car last week, appeared on Fox News’s “Fox & Friends” to talk about her mother, the person she was, and what her family needs most now.

“Her profession was important, but she was more than that,” she said, holding back tears. “She was really funny, she was incredibly hilarious, she was really smart, she was erudite, well spoken, well read. She was super positive and smiley, she always knew how to block out the negativity.”

Co-host Ainsley Earhardt asked Villela to describe how she found out.

Villela said a police officer came to her door at 2:30 a.m. and said that her mother had been hurt and was in the hospital.

“The entire time when I went to the hospital it was just scary,” she said. “It was probably the worst day of my life.”

When she arrived at the hospital her mother was unconscious on life support. She was with her during her last moments.

“I held her hand and I said, ‘Mom, you’re strong.'" she told Earhardt. "I said a prayer and I told her that I love her and that I don't want her to leave us."

Villela was joined by Frank Siller, chairman and CEO of the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation. Frank lost his brother, Stephen, on 9/11, and the organization works to honor military and first responders who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country.
